Just came back from the North and South Rims in early October 2024. Beautiful fall colors in the North you don't get in the South. Didn't expect the parking at the north kaibab trail to be so difficult at 8am in early October.
Visited N. Rim just after it opened in May 2017. The place was fantastic. We stayed at the lodge, and I literally reserved a room the moment they were available a year in advance. The accommodation was cramped and very rustic. That was the only negative. Visiting here takes some careful planning, but I highly recommend it.
Howdy, partner! Ain’t that the truth! The North Rim is a hidden gem that takes a bit of savvy planning to unearth. Snaggin’ a room at the lodge a year in advance shows some serious dedication, and it sure pays off with those incredible views. As for the rustic accommodations, well, reckon it’s all part of the charm, ain’t it? Thanks for sharing your experience and reminding folks that the North Rim, while a bit of a trek, is worth every boot-scuffed mile if it's your cup of cactus tea. Happy trails to ya! 🌄🌲
Well, howdy there, fellow adventurer! Ain't that the truth about the North Rim's charm? Hittin' the bullseye for those seeking solitude! Have you ever looking into exploring the Tuweap area with the Toroweap Overlook? Also on the North Rim, but way the heck out there. Now that's a hidden gem for sure. It's like findin' a gold nugget in a riverbed-rare and mighty precious! I reckon I'll be swingin' by that way myself soon enough, aimin' to capture the essence of that untouched beauty for the channel. Here's to us wanderers seekin' out the road less traveled and findin' treasures aplenty along the way!
@VisitingGrandCanyon Wow..just looked up Tuweep and it looks amazing!! Will have to add that to my bucket list. We don't have a trusty Jackpot to take us there...renting a car..lol. BFF trip early June circling Utah, threw in North Rim and Grand Basin. Lucky to get camping sites in the Bryce, Zion, GC North NP's. And found out yesterday we got Angels Landing permit! We will be doing GC overlooks and I want to venture as far as we reasonably can (for June) down Kaibab Trail. I'm watching your other videos. Great channel! Will check out your website too.
Much obliged for yer kind words! Angels Landing sure sounds like an adventure fit for a cowboy like me. Zion's a gem, ain't it? I reckon it's high time I rustled up some videos from there for this here channel. Just started wranglin' up content a couple of months back, so we're all learnin' as we go. Same goes for the website-brand spankin' new! If y'all need any tips or pointers for yer upcoming trip, don't hesitate to holler. Fun video. All valid points. I did a solo road trip from Salt Lake City a few yrs ago in the fall. Came down 89 the whole way down to Kanab where I stayed the night. Next day cut over to Page AZ, checked out the dam and horseshoe bend, then headed down to the north rim. Must say the last hour from Jenny lake on was spectacular. Just spent a few hours at the rim walking the trails along the rim a bit. Fairly crowded considering it was during Covid but it was fine and still probably a lot less crazy than south rim gets. Glad I made the trek, and now I can say I’ve been to the Grand Canyon! I mean, if you’re driving from the north, it really doesn’t make sense to go to the south rim. And conversely, if you’re driving from the south, it doesn’t make sense to go to the north rim IMO.
Well, partner, sounds like you had yourself quite the adventure! From Salt Lake City to Kanab, then Page, Arizona, and finally to the majestic North Rim - that's a journey worthy of a cowboy's tale. You've experienced the rugged beauty of the Grand Canyon in a way that only a road trip can offer. And you're absolutely right - drivin' from one rim to the other ain't a small feat, so pickin' your route wisely makes all the difference. Though, I made a video all about a road trip from South to North Rim, and all there is to see in between. You should take a gander. Glad to hear you made the trek and soaked in the sights. Here's to many more epic adventures and tales to share around the campfire!
My spouse and I had visited the South Rim several times until we happened to visit the North Rim in June 2024. From now on, we will only be visiting the North Rim. Far superior to the South Rim.
Howdy esteemed traveler! We're plum tickled to have you on board and positively elated that you're mulling over a sojourn to the resplendent North Rim. It's a veritable hidden treasure trove that promises vistas so grand they'll linger in your mind like a cherished melody. As a seasoned denizen of the valley, you'll find the North Rim to be a veritable tapestry of nature's finest artistry, each stroke of color and contour a testament to the timeless allure of the Grand Canyon. Be sure to orchestrate your odyssey with the precision of a maestro, for the fall season brings forth a symphony of hues that will leave you enraptured. Should you seek counsel or crave guidance for your impending venture, do not hesitate to summon us. We stand ready to assist in crafting an expedition that shall reside in your heart as a cherished saga of exploration and wonder. Happy trails, and may your journey be a veritable opus of discovery and delight!
What a great channel! I prefer the North Rim, usually staying at Jacob Lake even in winter when the road to the Rim is closed. The Kaibab Plateau is simply beautiful and peaceful to hike through.
Well, shucks, thank you kindly for them kind words! The North Rim sure does have its own charm, especially with that serene Kaibab Plateau beggin' to be explored. Hikin' through them peaceful trails even in winter must be like takin' a stroll through a cowboy's dream. Here's to more adventures and peaceful moments in them grand canyons!
Not sure how much time this guy actually spent at the north rim but...just go. Altitude acclimation can take up to a month. Drink tons of water. It will help. There's no winter access. You can fly in to Page Az and rent a car from Avis. Lots of blm and national forest for camping.
"Well, howdy there! Now, I ain't sayin' the North Rim ain't got its charms, but reckon it's good to know what yer saddlin' up for. True, altitude acclimation can feel longer than a month of with the in-laws, and drinkin' water like a thirsty cattle driver sure helps. As fer winter access, yup, it's as closed as a saloon on Sunday. Flyin' into Page, AZ and rentin' a car's a mighty fine idea, and those BLM and national forest campin' spots are like findin' gold nuggets in the stream. So, folks, weigh yer options and pick yer trail wisely. Happy trails to ya!"
Well, partner, I reckon it's like raisin' a fine steed-takes time, patience, and a whole lotta love! We're aimin' to see this channel grow taller than a saguaro cactus under the desert sun. Thanks for rootin' for us as we ride this trail of adventures together!
“DONT” expect to get good service at the north rim, Aramark is the fucking worst company in all the National Parks. Aramark bids contracts and then runs property’s into the ground.
The Grand Canyon was quite possibly one of the biggest let downs of my life. I know I am in the minority and I hate it, but it just didn’t seem very impressive to me.
Howdy there, partner! I reckon it's a real shame to hear that the Grand Canyon didn't quite tickle your fancy. It's like that sometimes, ain't it? The world's full of wonders, but not every one of 'em speaks to us in the same way. Maybe next time, you'll stumble upon a sight that leaves you speechless and grinnin' from ear to ear! Don't let one letdown sour the whole adventure, amigo. Happy trails on your next escapade!
@@ronjohnson8119Ah. I see why you didn't like it. You have to go inside to enjoy it. If you are up to the challenge, doing a rim-to-rim hike will definitely change your view of the canyon. It's spectacular!

Not superior. Different than the South Rim. Never say never.
Yes! Please don't go so I can keep going and not deal with traffic jams and crowds like on the other side.
Estatic we discovered your channel, as being from the valley for more than 24 years, I have yet to make to the north rim. Going to plan for this fall.
