I saw this show at the Beacon theatre in NYC. I had no idea what I was in for - I just went to see Fripp. I was blown away and mesmerized from the first few notes. I wish I could go back and experience it again with my much greater knowledge of all the talent that was on the stage that night. The Damage album that came out of that tour is exceptional.
I also saw them at the Beacon Theatre. It was hands down the best rock concert I had ever attended. I seem to remember Sylvian opening solo on keys with "The first day". Then they brought out the heavy artillery. David was basically fronting for King Krimson from then on. Fortunately for all of us the shows were heavily documented...
"Family man - his patience tried- took a torch to his home and warmed his hands by the fire..." This line haunts me every time I hear it. Sylvian is just so horribly overlooked.
Frank's Wild Years Well Frank settled down in the Valley and he hung his wild years on a nail that he drove through his wife's forehead he sold used office furniture out there on San Fernando Road and assumed a $30,000 loan at 15 _ % and put a down payment on a little two bedroom place his wife was a spent piece of used jet trash made good bloody marys kept her mouth shut most of the time had a little Chihuahua named Carlos that had some kind of skin disease and was totally blind. They had a thoroughly modern kitchen self-cleaning oven (the whole bit) Frank drove a little sedan they were so happy One night Frank was on his way home from work, stopped at the liquor store, picked up a couple Mickey's Big Mouths drank 'em in the car on his way to the Shell station, he got a gallon of gas in a can, drove home, doused everything in the house, torched it, parked across the street, laughing watching it burn, all Halloween orange and chimney red then Frank put on a top forty station got on the Hollywood Freeway headed North Never could stand that dog
@@RaymondPeckIII Sylvian spoke of his admiration for Tom Waits around the time of Secrets of the beehive/Frank's wild years. Have a listen to Midnight sun, from Dead bees on a cake (which just happens to feature Marc Ribot on guitar) to hear just how much he liked him!
Awesome track, Sylvian remains true to his principals of music & poetry, thankfully for those who have discovered his incredible talent and saves us from the majority of the banal sounds we're faced with daily.
This song has somehow weaved itself into my bloodstream! The first time I listened to it on Rain Tree Crow, it literally reached out and held me captive. Can't explain it...I just have no words. By the way, the talent on stage here is nothing short of astounding. Even though I was hoping Steve Jansen was on percussion. Enjoyed it nonetheless!!!
Le pouvoir expressif de l'architecture sonore rompt avec toute forme de transcription du réel pour s'attacher à l'expression d'un univers explosif. Les couleurs et le rythme de ces compositions sont un langage qui donne vie à l'exaltation
@@Robocrap Agreed, he grew up and matured into a superb artist. But trust me, growing up as a teenager with Japan was truly remarkable. I loved them all collectively as Japan (as well as Rain Tree Crow) and as solo artists. Sylvian was always my favourite, though.
David sylvian as singer of king crimson was always a silent wish off me and i do like some songs but i have to say in my thougts i suspected so much more about this collaboration
David Sylvian do not match with the spirit and sound of King Crimson in any single way. This combination come out indredible well but as the project, it give his music a right tune, I can't immagine his melanchoic and melodic voice sing the Krimson's songs? They would not be King Crimson anymore.

I saw this show at the Zellerbach in Berkeley. I can't remember the specifics, but I do remember that the quality of the sound was superb. It was loud but comfortable and crystal clear. Intentional. It enveloped you. Obviously a special show. Thanks for posting this.
This song was on the Rain Tree Crow Album. Fantastic. I remember buying it on c.d. somewhere around '95 or '96 at Sound Warehouse down the street. Robert Fripp and David Sylvian are both living legends who are both vastly under-credited for what they have achieved.
I saw this tour at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Michael Brooks set was majestic. I walked out of Fripp and Sylvian after 15 minutes due to a totally incompetent sound engineer.
@shum65 - I've always liked him, but to be fair, there is something to be said about his voice being kinda 'static'...most songs he sings sound pretty identical vocal-wise.
Thanks so much for posting this!
The day when Mr. Fripp meets Mr. Sylvian was a great day for Music' history. Two genious playing togheter
spell check . . . .
i TOTALLY AGREE with you
ben cert
I would say three geniuses. Michael Brook on the guitar is an amazing musician in his own right. Check out his stellar masterpeice, Cobalt Blue.

Damage (the song)is my all time favorit.First time I hear that,I have tears in my eyes.
I was on the whole UK tour absolutely mesmerising every night my friend

@@kpnconsulting8739 Yes, this band was in a sense a King Crimson projeKct, much more so than the Fripp/Collins'Jakszyk work.
The most underrated artist ever, if silk has a sound it would be Mr Sylvians music
I totally agree with you on that one
I did the whole UK tour absolutely mezzmorizes

Real music for real people.
LOVE THIS TAKE...Sylvian and Fripp are magic.
❤❤❤
you could say, all the musicians were at their best here - but the song and time makes it. superb song brilliantly performed. This is a classic.
Also Trey Gunn, Pat Mastelotto and Michael Brook (great guitar playing too!)
Love Pat saw him with Stick Man,but before i read this comment i wasnt aware that he was the drummer here,i was like wait thats his style
Sylvian on top of his game. Simply brilliant.
One of many beautiful songs that David Sylvian has been written. JG
Love that industrial backsection!. Chapstick sounds incredible. Davids voice as haunting and unique as ever!
out there, dark and dangerous......breathed upon by David Sylvians poetry
When Japan split up it was tragic to live through. But what masterpieces followed by them all in the first few years were phenomenal.
Discovered David Sylvian after Japan. His solo stuff is much better in my opinion.

unbelieveable concert, outstanding, even in Fripp's career!!!
love the live version sylvian at his best.

Fripp es un genio de la bella oscuridad. La combinación de los instrumentos y el soundscape es de otro mundo!!
la performance in studio è insuperabile!

Me encanta la voz de Sylvian, es bastante fabulosa~
A masterpiece, really appreciate the upload, so blissful
It could last twice more time! Fantastic, indeed!

Outstanding... Fripp guitar is genius...
Great version!
too good
Po raz jedenasty - niezwykłe.
Just amazing!
Love it!
Incredible! Thx for sharing 😊
Maravilloso ♡
My absolute favourate track
Classic sylvian , seen concert in glasgow royal concert hall back in the day (brilliant)
Sylvian's guitar line (and mastering of the transtrem) answering Fripp's line from 5'05 is so excellent...
At this time I think Sylvian had decided that he wanted to be David Torn, even down to using the same guitar!

just amazing. Wish this was on the live album!
It is on the live album! ruclips.net/video/dC1jVpTsews/видео.html
Il caro Fripp che si è sempre sentito il migliore di tutti insieme a quell'altro genio di Bridfor

So beautiful, it's the sumum! If you don't trust in God, it's a good alternative!!😊❤
WHERE IS THIS GUY THIS GREAT MUSIC
Этим всё сказано...
Rain Tree Crow (Sylvian/Karn/Jansen/Barbieri) song. ❤
Smoking as yer blues!
There was a bonus DVD with the CD of this concert
Знаковая вещь. А кто не видит, те не с нами.
I must have seen Fripp a long time ago. In Örebro Sweden. Wasnt he the other one in Blue for two??😂
La banda soñada.

The people in the audience could have never conceived what Fripp would be doing after a pandemic.
❤️👌
Yep
Dobry jest,nawet dzisiaj.Wtedy miałem 21 lat i😂
We can be 3v3ry dream ambition,3v3ry colour u are,
Sono più che certo che questa collaborazione è nata per opera di Fripp,è lui che ha cercato Silvian e non il contrario
When you realise that u were born too late to join such a concert like this...

@PNFLDYS i know! its in my top 20 ever

Sounds like someone really REALLY liked that snare...
I was going to post some Grase Jones or Sharlot Sometimes, but I expect less popular Im posting a couple of peeps you might check out
@shum65 - I've always liked him, but to be fair, there is something to be said about his voice being kinda 'static'...most songs he sings sound pretty identical vocal-wise.
Yes, its his 'unique' voice, so warm, rich and musical.
And thats what we all love, so warm, it caresses the soul.
He reminds me of a male version of Tracy Thorn of Everything but the girl.
I clicked this video by mistake and....
汝萬紫千紅
汝 ‧ 萬紫千紅。
is there an album????
Self titled album by Rain tree crow
The only thing I really don't like is the snare sound.
Not not King Crimson. Maybe...
ännu bättre
Yeah, you must really hate David Sylvian's music to go on multiple videos to leave such empty, generic criticism that lacks any substance.
Te la robare Miguel es preçiosa .. en Barçelona 12...11.. 2017 18h.. i es noche cerrada ,,..
Great song spoiled by that waaay too heavy drum beat.
I really love Pat's playing nowadays, but on this and in the Double Trio I really hated his wooden feel...
Exactly what I was thinking. You can't imagine Steve Jansen nearly destroying the song with such a heavy handed "snare" sound.
The drums sound awful😣😣
Dang, that snare drum is super annoying.
Masterpeace of Sylvian, but the drummer is way to much and hammers away on the drums like he was in a heavy metal band.
Geez, Mastelotto ruins this song.
