It works for both the voice prompts and the beep prompts, depending on what you have it set to, and you can even just mute it completely if you want.

alright, that mic test convinced me that I need to try. The Virtuoso regular was really good but lacking in the comfort range for me. These bigger cups and that top band might fix that issue.
I'm coming up on a year of owning these, they've been nothing short of wonderful. Worth every penny I spent. The mic quality, the sound quality, the comfort, the build, it's all almost perfect. My main gripes with these have been the battery life and range. Fortunately, that's been addressed with the newest iteration of the HS80 in the HS80 Max, should you decide to spend the extra cash on them. Nonetheless, this has been absolutely the best gaming headset I've owned.
Quick two questions: Q1) When you muted and unmuted we could hear the voice prompt, does that mean if I have voice prompt on the people in the same call can hear the voice prompt too? Q2) Do the EQ settings transfer from pc/mac to playstation?
I also want to know about EQ. Because I read everywhere, without iCUE EQ will not work and You can't write even one preset to headset memory. I ordered one pair, but if EQ is not memorable I simply return them.
I am using them on PS4 and I am 99% sure that the EQ does not work on PlayStation. I am seriously thinking about returning them even because the mic volume in ps4 is quite low even if it is at max
That mic test sounded very natural. Quite impressed also by the price point. Only cons I see is none retractable/removable mic. By the way will this work with any other cable or only the cables from Corsair? Just thinking long term when the battery dies out and can't find replacement batts.
im gonna be completely honest, i was watching this video over and over and over again for 3 months, thinking about the comfort, and MAN! the comfort is one of the best in my opinion, sound is awesome, i am a bass person so i use bass boost in ICUE, i would just like it more if i could seal the sound with some earcups, because i can hear people and my pc. but overall, worth the money in my opinion and i would recommend it!
Man I keep thinking of the comfort. I just hate headphones with really tight clamping force, I hope these don’t have that issue? I’ve got a pretty small head aswell compared to the average
I got this headset because of this channel. Love it, only thing I don't like is the mic ain't flexible, people will tell me I sound far. Other than that, no issues thus far.
@@JonJonChannel I've seen this complaint a lot on Amazon reviews and in the RUclips comments of HS80 reviews, yet all the reviews I've seen on RUclips that feature a mic test don't mention this and the mic sounds loud and clear. As a person who is continually searching for a perfect headset (no such thing), I have purchased a ton of them over the years - with brands like Sennheiser, Logitech, Astro, Cooler Master, Turtle Beach and more. I consider myself experienced when it comes to gaming headsets. So let me say this about the HS80: Hands down - best sounding mic I have ever heard on a headset, but that was on a PC test. I would like to know how it performs on the PS5. Apparently, Sennheiser mics are not #1 for microphone quality anymore.
About right haha been searching for almost a week for a good budget headset!! Almost bought the HS70 but tried to review HS80 and boom and i think i found the right one!! Thanks man!!

Just received my pair today. Wow!! They really are good. Probably the most comfortable gaming headset i've worn. Sound is amazing too. Good call The Techne.
So the corsair virtuosos were too small for my large head, Earcups couldnt envelop my ears and they couldnt go down enough to properly seal them in. Im guessing these are just larger virtuosos? if so then im buying these asap
Hi tech I just ordered these for the ps5. Only do you think they would be good for that and how would they sound for ps5 do you think I will be disapointed whats your opinion thankyou much
Get some velour and leather ear pads for these, they lock in the sound compared to the stock ear pads and with the right EQ settings with Dolby Atmos, they sound amazing!
@techne I'm surprised you didn't have the issue with low mic output volume. There is a 8 page forum post on the Corsair forums detailing this issue. It's affecting a lot of customers so far. I replaced 3 HS80 headsets with bestbuy before finally giving up on this headset because the mic volume was too low to where people had me at 200% in Discord and could barely hear me. I had to use a 3rd party program to boost the mic for it to work properly. I then ran into issues where certain games would try to take full control of the mic and it ended up lowering the volume all the way down again. I don't know if this is a firmware or driver issue but I tried everything to fix it. We had a couple Corsair reps in the thread about it but so far nothing from Corsair for months.
He probably turned the mic volume up in his video editing software. I’m pretty sure most RUclipsrs reviewing this headset are payed by Corsair to give the headset a good review. The sound quality was not very good like he says it was.
How do these stack up against the g733? I'm between them, the mic on these is just awesome, having Dolby atmos certified is also a plus, when compared to the g733. Wich ones have bigger cups? I have an old pair of sony mdr 1000xm2, they sound great but they are a bit small and get my ears hot, for gaming I'm trying to find a "fresh" pair of headphones...

thats the problem with techne, he is literally hyping every new headset. if you look at rtings you will see that the corsair headsets have horrible accuracy, the cloud II wireless on the other hand r suprisingly neutral for hyperx standarts. prob the reason why most reviewers say that the cloud II wireless is the one to get right now. but staying away from gaming headsets in general is prob the best advice you can give. any sennheisers like the hd560s r gonna smoke these cheap as headsets by a mile and you dont even need a amp cause any decent mobo soundcard can amp these headphones nowadays. and if you really need the build in mic convenience go for the pc37x/pc38x even though they r a little bit too dark for me
@@uwetriceps3036 Genuine question, what's the problem with gaming headsets? I've never really been into the audio side of gaming, I just have these cheap headphones that I found on Amazon that have lasted me 2 years and are still going, but I'm looking for some new ones lol. And are Sennheisers good for gaming or is it mostly just music or something?
@@EjayT06 problem with gaming headsets is that most of them use fairly cheap drivers and companies boost the shit outta them especially in the bass regard but the drivers r not capable to keep the clarity with boosted lows like that. the cloud IIs or flights for example have boosted lows and highs so everything ends up beeing super loud and pronounced but all it does is making you paranoid cause you cant figure out where sounds actually coming from. after i tested the gsp 600 and p37x from sennheiser which have pretty neutral sound for headsets i realised how much more calm you play cause you can really tell where sounds r coming from and if you take the next step with good headphones like the hd560s or dt990pros for example you get that balanced sound + high end drivers that give you amazing clarity and detail
You compared it to the Virtuoso, unfortunately I haven't tried those - however, compared to something more studio-quality like, such as the Audeze headsets, how is the sound quality compared to those?
Hi. You make me so want to buy these. The Mic sounded so good. My question is. Is it any better than steelseries arctis 9 wireless, in terms of comfort and sound?
I have the Corsair hs50 and I absolutely love it and I’d like to know does it feel somewhat a the same comfort wise? Because the hs50 have leather earmuffs and I like that more than cloth.
Why are gaming headsets so bulky? Also, why do they not supply a hard carry case with them. Many years ago i hought the astro gaming headset with mix amp. Can't remember the prouduct code was, vut the cups were snaller and well designed. It also came with a hard carry case.
I finally just bought one of these, can’t wait for it to get here. I wanted to spring for the newer Max but the Bluetooth isn’t simultaneous so pretty much worthless to me. I’m excited though because over the last year I bought a wireless Corsair keyboard and mouse and just realized recently that those 2 and a headset will all run on 1 dongle which is perfect for my rog ally.
so far the best headsets that i seen is first hs70 Bluetooth going at $80 the hs80 for $150 and the Vituoso RGB SE at $190 I would say start off with the hs70 first then buy the other ones if u want to collect more different corsair headsets one by one.
Hey Techne, how about that profile sound (no EQ) , lets say i want to use it on my ps4 or Nintendo, is the profile sound as terrible as the standard virtuoso and the XT?
Hey Techne awesome review as always, could you please answer a couple questions on these as really considering buying them and selling my Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2. When connected to PS5 can you disable the RGB? I have heard that your choices made on the PC software don’t carry over to the headset so are reset when you connect to console. Same for Mic light and custom presets. Could be a deal breaker
I had an arctis pro wireless, used it very cleanly and it still ended up half-dying on me. 1- The power button would occasionally not work, a medium-to-low level of shock to the right earcup (like a tapping on the earcup with your finger with medium force) would make the headset turn off and it wouldnt turn back on until you hit the earcup again a couple times... 2- The charging station for the batteries developed inconsistent contact issues. Sometimes I would put a battery in there and it would say it's 2 bars charged already when it actually has near 0, and it would actually not charge the battery at all; then I would remove the battery and place it in there again and it would at last show the charge correctly and actually charge it. Both of these unrelated problems began immediately after 2 years of clean use, and I don't remember dropping the headset even once. It's honestly not durable enough for the ridiculously high price of 300 dollars.
Hey there. I need some advice. I used the HS70 pro wireless before this. I noticed the HS80s don't have much treble, i was a bit underwhelmed. Dolby atmos doesn't sound so great either. My main issue is clarity/treble. Well suppose what I'm trying to work out is if this is just placebo cause its new?
Great detailed review! Does the hs80 wireless have the nvidia broadcast feature and does it require a nvidia rtx graphics card? I currently have a rx5700xt and i wanted to buy the headset but i worry if the mic would pick up the sound of my fan.
I was in best but and got this headset on sale for $125. Man this thing is awesome! I had been using the A20 gen 2 for a while. While those are comfortable, they feel bulky to me. I bought these and they definitely feel great. They are so comfortable! The mic is great for sure and I like when it beeps to let you are muted or unmuted. I like the soft cloth earcups. They do seep sound but it’s not a deal breaker. I would def recommend these. I’m sure they work better on PC but these great for ps5 as well
I'm awaiting delivery of my pair. Have read a few reviews now that state the battery life is more like 8 hours. Can you update with your experience The Techne ??

I just bought a set in the carbon colour, Thanks for the review!
why is this only 150 and my astro a50 was 300?
Whould you rather recommend the hs80 or the steelseries arctis 9?
getting these as a replacement for the hs50s which broke in the headband twice on me, looking forward to them
You compared it to the Virtuoso, unfortunately I haven't tried those - however, compared to something more studio-quality like, such as the Audeze headsets, how is the sound quality compared to those?
That's a freaking good mic for a wireless headset! :O
Hi. You make me so want to buy these. The Mic sounded so good. My question is. Is it any better than steelseries arctis 9 wireless, in terms of comfort and sound?
Looking to buy a wireless headphone for PC and PS5 gaming. Any recommendation? Is HS80 still good today or better options are there?
How's the noise cancellation of the microphone tho? is it good or nah?
Any recommendations for a wireless headset with good bass? This one does look good too. I don’t care about mic quality as I use a standalone one
Sennheiser GSP 670
Razer blackshark V2 pro
Is it better than the Corsair Virtuoso XT?
I wonder if these would work with the switch via dongle? My old pair of turtle beaches did
Corsair or Razer for sound and loudness? I returned my Kairas as the build exposed some parts and didn’t like seeing exposed and cheap feel to them.
Techne what are your head measurements? I have a decent sized head and to be stinking cozy is a top priority so would just like to be able to compare.
Not sure if you’ll see this, but I’m stuck between this headset and the Logitech G535. I think you’ve reviewed the other one
Your chanel is growing very fast. Good job🥳
Cool ! Thanks a lot for that one ! Looks so great ! Wil try to catch it too ! Go on, you're juste perfect mate !
Great Vid Mate,
What do you would buy Stellseries arctis 7 or this hs80...? Can you test this two headsets an tell us witch one is better
I wonder if I could use the USB from the headset to a USB-to-3.5mm adaptor, plug it into my Astro Mixamp and get it working on my Xbox. *Rubs Brain*
What is better the Razer Blackshark v2 pro or this new Corsair headset?
Hey Techne awesome review as always, could you please answer a couple questions on these as really considering buying them and selling my Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2.
When connected to PS5 can you disable the RGB? I have heard that your choices made on the PC software don’t carry over to the headset so are reset when you connect to console. Same for Mic light and custom presets. Could be a deal breaker
I just bought the artics pro wireless like last week lol. Should I exchange for this? What is your opinion?
Anyone know if you could use an adapter to get the usb c from the headset to an aux cable and use it that way?
Hey there. I need some advice. I used the HS70 pro wireless before this. I noticed the HS80s don't have much treble, i was a bit underwhelmed. Dolby atmos doesn't sound so great either. My main issue is clarity/treble. Well suppose what I'm trying to work out is if this is just placebo cause its new?
should i buy this or the void elite rhb
👀do you think they sound better than steel series pro or 7’s ?
Update so i got the headset & it’s amazing
Which headset is more comfortable. The Hs80 or Turtle beach stealth 700 ?
I’m sure they work better on PC but these great for ps5 as well
does it have on board memory? or you need to open the software all the time?
What app did you use to tune audio
Where is the link to the headset?
How did spatial audio sound on PlayStation?
I'm awaiting delivery of my pair. Have read a few reviews now that state the battery life is more like 8 hours. Can you update with your experience The Techne ??
I charge all of any wireless stuff over night, and never have battery issues
@@TheTechne So do I but 8 hours is way off the advertised battery life of the headset.
Turn off RGB
@@JonJonChannel RGB not turned on.
@@garethg8226 did you fully charged first before using?
If yes, I think your unit has issues.
Are you going to compare it with audeze penrose?
Where's the mic comparison vs other options? also, what's the battery life? Did I missed it?
Its supposedly 20 hours.
This or the virtuoso?? I just got the original virtuoso thinking of maybe returning it and getting this one not so sure input?
hit the bell ;)
Hows this compare to the arctis series headsets
Got it today and holy shi* this is the best mic i used on a wireless headset and sound is awesome and comfy to 100% recommended for 150 bucks!
Hi I just ordered these for the ps5 do you think they will sound good for ps5 how are they thanks much
@@jamesstevens968 they will sound great its my go to headset right now and I have more expensive ones like audio technica ath-g1 laying around now 🙏
I’m trying to decide between this and hyperx cloud 2 wireless. Which one should I choose?
Wich one u take
Are they really the same drivers as the virtuoso?
Which is the best?
Hyper x cloud stinger vs steelseries arctis 1 vs razer blackshark v2X
