This isn't a bad song at all. But I don't think it was meant to be a single. I think BMTHs last songs have been such a crazy experience that when they release a normal song it seems underwhelming. It hurts Nik a little more cause he's a breakdown addict
I think because the ep/album got delayed they felt obligated to release a new single as a stop gap. This fits that well because it’s safe and catchy but not a complex song at all. I don’t think they would’ve wanted to give another “big” song
This feels like the 1x1 of this era and I'm completely fine with this. I am 100% sure that they have some heavy and experimental stuff on this record that they wanted to save till full release to not spoil people with heaviness so they don't get disappointed when all what's left for the record are softer songs
Fully agreed - There's no way we aren't getting a surprise banger ala Kingslayer on the EP. They just didn't wanna show their full hand and had to delay the EP, so we got a normal tracklist song as a single, which it clearly wasn't meant to be.
Maybe controversial opinion but i like that there wasnt really a breakdown. You see breakdowns everywhere in songs even if they arent necessary, and i think the song is perfectly good without one
same tbh. I feel like Breakdowns or the Blegh Callout are so overdone nowadays. Like every Band has to have at least 2 per song nowadays. Can't we go back to having Guitar Solos or a breakdown when its actually neeeded instead throwing it out verywhere?
I actually like the song as it is. It's angsty, it's got good chorus, and the lyrics get me in my feelings. Maybe not "peak single" material, but this is one that I'll be coming back to.
Yeah, I think it's just a first-expectation-effect. Give them some time and they will totally dig this song...
I keep coming back to the song. The chorus melody is simply amazing. It scratches an itch it my head like NOTHING else. "Can you talk me off the ledge again" is like pure serotonin for me.
When I was in school my music teacher once told me "you know a song is really good when it's purposely missing a tiny tiny bit so you want to hear it over and over again" Think they did exactly that with this song
I think the main "problem" is that the song was never supposed to be a single at all. My theory is that they wanted to sweeten the wait with another single and decided to go with this more personal, big arena song to maybe not "spoil" the other "WTF?" Songs (looking at you, Kingslayer) small edit: This sounds like I dont like the song. I do, just as a single it's a bit underwhelming

That being said, the song overall sounds very pleasing to my ears, reminding me of that Sempiternal/That's The Spirit with maybe a bit of Amo mixed in, and... Well, like you said yourself, it's catchy with a good hook!
Actually, pretty much all their songs after amo are a mix of Sempiternal, That's The Spirit and amo, with some songs having more elements of one album or another. This dark side song is the 1x1 or Teardrops of their next EP (which already has a name btw, it's Nex Gen) and they need one or two songs like this on the record. Sometimes it just feels right to get some new/old 2000s MCR or Linkin Park vibes
I didn't know what to expect, but i ended up liking this very much. I was head bopping throughout the whole song. So catchy and the lyrics remind me of their more sad times.
Its like a Thats the Spirit meets Linkin Park meets Sleeping With Sirens vibe The song definitely grows on you :) I've now looped it most of today and its now become my 2nd favourite of the 5 singles.
I just love how dark and shamelessly emo it is. Even dark songs like Lost kinda don't hit that nerve because the general vibe is kind of upbeat and exciting. This song is super melodramatic and completely self serious and it hits home very well. Also glad I'm not the only one who hears the Linkin Park
Yeah, it reminded me of 1x1 and I really liked that. I guess Next Gen will refer more to mental issues, with Lost, Strangers and now Darkside, these kind of lyrics to relate to. And I also found it fine that the song is shorter, just not to repeat 1x1 structure completely, it says pretty much within those 3 minutes. Some interesting sound ideas were there, and yeah, definitely LP vibes. To sum up, really excited what the album's going to bring, the only concern that if it's an EP again I wish there would be at least 10 songs, cause we have a few songs already released.
How are their choruses always so dang catchy? I just KNOW I'll be having this one stuck in my head the whole day now. I love all BMTH styles, I like others more, but I still love this! So not even complaining. Love it!
Love the whole visualizer of this song, feels like were 25 Years ago. The song is amazing, great Chorus & it is catchy & well.. it is BMTH. They are just so good
Well I have a theory about that song. I think they wrote it approx. at the same time than 1x1 because there is a lot of similarities in the instrumental and the vocal hook. Like the drum is very very alike! Not a bad song tho I listen to it very often these days.
to me this song wasnt supposed to be a single but they had to pick something to tie over the fans since they delayed the album but also wanted so save the heavy hitters for the actual album drop so its a safe pick
this is definitely a filler track they used as a single to compensate for the delay of the new album, great song nonetheless and would DEFINITELY hit much harder live. just wish there was a LITTLE bit more because the song seems a little too safe, but that’s honestly not a bad thing either i had the song on repeat for hours and the looping is perfect for streaming lol
It’s going to be a nice palette cleanser on the album. I have a feeling some songs are going to be absolute chaos, and this song will bring it back to earth. Lol Just a thought.

This song is going to be one of the big ones on the next EP. They've put out some solid songs since Post-Human Survival Horror. This song is anthemic, and I'm here for it tbh.
Honestly with the live perfomance adding a whole new breakdown to dear diary and extend to teardrops they can just add something new for the concerts to be more special, maybe this could have something else in live perfomance, who knows
Late night radio rock is what they were aiming for with this one. And that's fine. For a band that started off as grindcore, then deathcore, then metalcore, then toned it down for a couple albums, then went experimental, then tried to bring the heavy back, they've done it all and there's not much they can do to surprise us anymore.
I think this is overall a decent and catchy track, but I also think that this is better suited as a deepcut track in the album and should to be seen that way. It's not really meant to compete with recent hit tracks like Lost or Amen. They released this one as a simple, lesser huge track to warm us up before releasing the whole nexgen album which is soon. The lads want to save some banger tracks for the last lol.
Absolutely had mid-2000s feel. My immediate thoughts were it's giving Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, 10 Years, Linkin Park influences. I particularly loved that era, so I'm not mad about it in the least. Deeming it a slay! I love the nostalgia they are conjuring in me with this single and "Lost." ✶🖤
Am I the only one that noticed part of it sounded like "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy? Specifically in the bridge to the short breakdown? I mean, they've been touring with FOB, so it makes sense.
I really like the dark broody mood to this song. I think all the songs they’ve released for this cycle has been have been really enjoyable. Would say LosT and AmEN! sit above it but still very much enjoy this
The EP was supposed to drop a while ago but it was delayed, I feel like this was just a song they put out there to make sure the fans don’t go insane via lack of new songs every three months. Still a good song though, doesn’t hit as hard as lost or amen or die4u, but I liked it more than strangers I think.
Yo imagine they release the EP and the actual song expands on that breakdown and goes crazy with it. How sick would that be, like has anyone done anything like that?
That's a fair opinion to have, but when criticizing art, it's important to not only focus on your own criteria, but to ask yourself: "What was the artist going for?" I think this song wasn't meant to have "the slam". As BMTH have stated, this EP will have a lot of emo/pop-punk influence, so I think with "darkside", they wanted to go for something more basic and "relaxed" (at least compared to some of their other songs)...
The "Can't trust myself tonight," hits so hard. I really vibe this song higher than that of the last two albums. Which is great because I enjoyed the last two. But this.. If they can make an album of this sound. 2024 will be stupendous in the gym.

its one thing to just be an easy listening rock song, and another when you can almost feel a breakdown coming and its just a chorus repeat. Was a little let down from it but all in all was a good track.
I agree I think they could a done a huge break down after that bridge or make it double the length then drop into the soft chorus build up. still works though.
It’s very much Linkin Park-ish, when I heard the snippet of it for the first time my initial thought was that it’s very similar to 1x1 and Hybrid Theory coded Tbh it’s a good song, might seem a bit underwhelming since they have been dropping crazy songs lately (Amen, Lost, Werewolf) I think they dropped it to feed us some content until they finally release the album I like the song, it’s good to have a track more on a chill side It makes the album well-balanced And the chorus is a banger af BMTH is so damn good at making chorus

A lot of people with the linkin park comparison and I don’t hear that. But one thing I hear is the second pre-chorus sounds a lot like bad omens which is so damn funny and I think on purpose considering people said they ripped them off on the album with exit wounds 😂 love them both either way.

Someone on Sputnik called this "Nu Metal" and "wearing Linkin Park affection on their sleeves" and i cant get over how stupid and incorrect that description is lol
Fave after Amen! Really Linkin Park-y and I'm so cool with that 😊❤
This song makes me feels like if 1x1 but the vocals were composed by Sum 41
its one thing to just be an easy listening rock song, and another when you can almost feel a breakdown coming and its just a chorus repeat. Was a little let down from it but all in all was a good track.
I agree I think they could a done a huge break down after that bridge or make it double the length then drop into the soft chorus build up. still works though.
As someone who’s not into this kind of music this song has gotten me interested and am now listening to a lot of new stuff
It’s very much Linkin Park-ish, when I heard the snippet of it for the first time my initial thought was that it’s very similar to 1x1 and Hybrid Theory coded
Tbh it’s a good song, might seem a bit underwhelming since they have been dropping crazy songs lately (Amen, Lost, Werewolf)
I think they dropped it to feed us some content until they finally release the album
I like the song, it’s good to have a track more on a chill side
It makes the album well-balanced
And the chorus is a banger af
BMTH is so damn good at making chorus
Last time I saw them live they extended a lot of breakdowns, would be incredibly sick if they did that with this song!
i think that the most catchy chorus they've made it's in oh no, in the album "that's the spirit"
I was never in to bmth more into bands like pwd, as i lay dying, bury tommorow, killswitch. that kind of metalcore. my girlfriend who is a big fan of bmth lets me listen to bmth. not my thing but I can appreciate the last 3 singles. Lost is good. Amen is 🤘🔥 and Darkside is so catchy. I think my girlfriend is very happy with this haha
"there is a hell believe me I've seen it,
There is a heaven let's keep it a secret"
Btw it's real .-.
Astral projection can take you to the spirit side, heavens dimension 6-7 hells below our vibration.
Your fears will show up if you let them,
Excitement pulls you back in your body,
Self induced sleep paralysis is the doorway to Astral projection..
Don't miss this chance
I actually love this song and wish it was longer its very catchy and further proves that Bring Me can do whatever they want and though it may not be for everyone it is for someone
This track gives me the Overflow Polaris vibes but still polaris has a chunky breakdown, but it plays as the chill track in the album just like Overflow in Fatalism, great album btw:)
Nihilist Blues is great. This song is safe and good, indeed
The lyrics are fire 🔥🔥
First verse reminds of 'Heathens' from Twenty One Pilots
Knew people would get a little pissy with this being straight after AmEN. Never expect anything from BMTH. Because we should all know by now, they dobwhatever the fluff they want. Keeps you on your toes. This isn't Even basic, it has ALOT of interesting elements that sound so different. It's just not insane like AmEN. Its similar robthe corpse track .But i love them because theyre always so different
what about band called If not For me with their newest single, Blameless.
I feel like this song is amazing as is since the lyrics are just perfect and while the rest of the song isn't as heavy as like amen or kool-aid, the instrumental just fits the lyrics so well I wouldn't change a thing about it
DArkSide is …
A banger !!
The lead into the chorus the don’t give a fuck if my heart stops beating reminds me of papa roaches last resort
Massive Linkin Park riff vibes, love it
i think it’s a good song, just cuz it isn’t heavy doesn’t mean it’s bad
guitarist of paledusk daidai is the producer of the lastest bmth songs, I think everyone need to know his name and give this hero a credit🤘🏿
This is probably my fav song since Sleepwalking in Sandpit Turtle due to the lyrics and chorus. And that's saying a lot cuz Amen is a banger
always gotta go back and listen to these when the full album comes out, usually makes way more sense in the context of the album
Absolutely love the song
not everything needs a breakdown and this song is perfect without one.
these guys are legit Nik they are legends I m a big fan of bring me the horizon dude Ollie knows what he’s doing an the band that’s why they are good at what they do love the guys an the band Nik an l love your channel as always my dude
I like how this Nik can predict everything about a song before it start, fail and predict again the thicc corus that comes.
Just like you need high and low parts in the song for contrast, you also need heavy and chill songs in the album. I don't want every metal song to have breakdowns.
i CANNOT wait for niks Cellar Door reaction
I’m so happy to see so many people enjoying this song 🤘
A lot of people with the linkin park comparison and I don’t hear that. But one thing I hear is the second pre-chorus sounds a lot like bad omens which is so damn funny and I think on purpose considering people said they ripped them off on the album with exit wounds 😂 love them both either way.
3:03 like a noah sound style not problem still good
Cool song, great lyrics once again. BMTH always speak to my heart. I might have not even been alive today if I wasn't listening to this band.
