WOW! The most detailed review I have watched in English or German in the last year. Need to watch it, then do a test drive and then watch it again. In fact has done me good being reminded of what my own iX1 can do!
I've had a BMW iX1 30M fully spec'd (all options except alarm & upgraded wheels) since June here in Bavaria. Done 8,000 km incl. 2,500km round trip to UK. Never have I done the trip in such relaxed style thanks to all the assistance programs. Despite driving at max permitted speeds (185km/h in Germany) & not getting caught in any speed traps (yes, got the €20 p.a. BMW speed camera option!). For the return journey through the middle of Storm Babet in mid-October, the average consumption was 21 kWh/100km (2.96mi/kWh). A 70km relaxed (UK friend driving) day trip around Norfolk country & A roads was 3.8 mi/kWh in standard mode & heating on (12°C).
Maybe because the rest of the car gives the feel of such high quality performance & drivability, the 64.7kWh battery seems on the small side for long journeys and the 130kWh max charging speed a bit slow, but frankly after 200 miles, the 30-minute break is very welcome. I have the 22kWh AC charging option, a great bonus here in Germany, where many supermarket & pavement-side public chargers have 22kWh. Two hours in a shopping centre & you have 66% of battery full. I have PV at home where I do 85% of my charging from March-October. iX1 allows you to restrict AC load in steps from 6Amps to 32Amps both in the car & via the BMW App, even if you haven't got an intelligent/PV connected home wall box. I simply use the Granny charging box that, at least in Germany, is provided as standard & for which I bought a 32Amp/22kWh, 3-phase adapter cable as I have sockets at home & can thus exceed the normal household 1-phase wall socket. (Also available as 16Amp 3-phase, Camping - blue-, UK or EU house socket adapters)
The only 'mistake' I noted in your review was the 'Net Option' you mentioned for the boot & showed a picture of the tiny net on the left-hand side of the boot, which just about takes a first aid kit. In fact, the 'Net Option' is for two cargo nets - one larger one that attaches to the interior roof and floor behind the front passengers when you have the rear seats collapsed, and a second smaller net that again attaches to the roof & the back side of the rear seats which like me you may use when transporting a dog & the rear parcel shelf is removed.
In addition, as I have a very solid & heavy Ifor Williams horse trailer weighing nearly 1,000kg empty, I have upgraded the towing level to 1,800kg. The factory fitted tow-bar on the iX1 is exactly the same as for all XI Hybrid & ICE cars, i.e. rated to 2,000kg. Not sure how this could work in the UK, but here in Germany there are businesses who get a technical organisation (e.g. here in Germany: TÜV) to do a full individual test of a car/tow-bar combination. This expensive test certificate is then available to anyone with this exact same car/tow-bar combination. Naturally, not for free!. It cost me €550 but was all done online, within a week, by sending copies of the original reg documents. You then get an official TÜV report for your exact car (VIN) & it cost €10 for original registration papers to be changed at licensing office. 1,800 kg seems to be the max given weight ratios of BEV vs ICE.
The option I use least is the Interior Camera. At best, fun to show other people via the App, or perhaps to check on the dog when you're in the shops. Sadly doesn't have a "Dog Mode" like Tesla with the display lit up to show passers-by all is OK, but when switching off, the BMW does ask you if you want to switch on the Air Conditioning while you are away.
The two options I am still considering are the BMW Dashcam & from an external Austrian supplier, the excellent looking Frunk they have just brought on the market. Fitted in under one minute ruclips.net/video/R49Pjg45M10/видео.htmlsi=K6dsJuRvOG11RZQ_

Hi. Thanks for the detailed explanation. So are you saying the iX1 factory tow bar that hides and un hides itself at press of a button can safely tow up to 1800kg without any extra modifications? As the official tow rating given for iX1 is 1200kg?

An impressively comprehensive review covering all aspects of owning the car. A great help for me when deciding what EV to buy, and following this review it’ll most likely be the iX30.

I don't know why anyone would pay £2k extra for a paint job that looks like they forgot the top coat.

The driver appears to be looking down for long periods of time. What is he looking at? eg 6:24-6:35.

Are you reading your script from something within the instrument cluster? The amount of time your eyes are off the road is staggering.
