First time I've watched one of this new style of stone off and, I have to say, I quite like it. I still think it's a shame to have only the two guys doing it but it feels a little fairer than the previous format, if only slightly.
I was there and behind Luke. That last stone looked scary from my vantage point. If Kevin had managed to get it over, there was no way Luke was returning it.
Not a fan of this format. The head to head part is awesome, but I think it should be based on reps not turns. For example Kevin fails and then luke should have to lift it again to get one more rep then Kevin to win. If both fail they would go down in weight and go again. Just my thoughts anyway. Keep up all the great work team !!!
Well, don't know how much you know of the concept but I'll try to explain their explanation. Luke finished in second place (in the heat) and Faires finished third. Hence Luke only had to defend his place in the finals (i.e match the stone set my Faires), instead of beating him outright.
If there has to be a stone off, it should be like this one where the 2nd place actually has a meaningful advantage (though it should really scale according to point difference). It’s unfortunate they have gone in the other direction again by making the stones lighter.
Maybe next year the organizers have a cold-tub challenge as just one qualifying event :) He who stays in longest wins the group, or maybe just the whole finals. If you pass out, you'll be scooped out, so no worries.
Luke was in 2nd place and Kevin was in 3rd place. So Luke had an advantage which was only having to return the stones, if Kevin couldn’t get it over luke wins. It’s to make it a little more fair for the guy in second place for working hard and being ahead of the guy in 3rd which could be by a lot of points in many cases
Luke wasn't fortunate to go first by luck, he was placed 2nd before the stone off. It's only paying tribute to the fact, he was better until the stone off
Great sportmanship by Luke there, not celebrating immediately after his victory!
Agreed! Really good to see athlete that can remember his fellow competitor is a human. One of the reasons I'm a fan of strongman.
Thanks for ruining video before I even watched it!! SMH!!
That was a great stone-off there. Super classy Luke Stoltman as always. That may have gone the other way if not for Kevin's handicap start. Love it.
I'm not sure remember luke trains with possibly the best stone lifter at moment his brother Tom but it was great Stone regardless
Unreal back and forth well done Luke well deserved. Unlucky to Kevin solid fight.
Both guy's did great.... 👍🇺🇲🗽🏴👍

I love Kevin. I so want him to become the most dominant American in the circuit.
@Robert Tancredi 🥰🥰🥰

Yeah, he barely managed to get his last stone over.
Class as always from Luke.
LUKE STOLTMAN ! ! what a legend
the Shaw Classic owns you
Great to see Luke looking after Kevin, making sure he is ok, before celebrating
Kevin was smooth as hell on every stone 💪🏼

Cong. Luke! What a beautiful feeling to support and respect your opponent as an athlete, as a person, that Hafthor doesn't know about..
Luke is a class act.
What a top bloke Luke Stoltman is. Going over to Kevin after that.
That's my guy Kevin. ✊🏾💯 way to represent Provo UT bro
How much do those things weigh?
When was this?

Why didn't Luke need to put it over the bar? Wasn't that a tie?

He was ahead in the points so he only loses if he can’t match Kevin.
draw odds
Faires had this
Oh snap, a spoiler!
playing ball with a 464 lb ball lol
I will win Worlds Strongest Man 2036
Good luck buddy 🙌🏻
200 Kg ball
A really naff event, hugely favouring whoever is fortunate enough to go first. Every man who went first won this year. Time to scrap it.

@@fabianbasler1571 you clearly have a ‘thing’ for Luke. I hope the two of you are very happy together.
