just got my license at the ripe old age of 40 ... its never too late kids!! i dont regret getting it earlier, everyone has their own time table if they decide to drive.
I know it's a year later but what you said was true. I am in my early 30s now and I just started practice driving w my father. Sometimes I wish I had started sooner when I was in my 20s but I know I will not fully commit to it at the time. So yea im still proud of myself for trying now that I am really ready.
That’s so awesome I didn’t really start driving until I was 30 I got my license at 28 and I’m glad because I’m more mature I know what to look out for on the road and my anxiety is under control.
guys, driving anxiety is a real thing, I stopped driving for about 4 months which is really outside of my usual character. You have to remember, we've beaten stuff like this before! we've learned to ride our bikes, be outside in the dark, get stuff out of the basement, sleep without our parents, and even flush the toilet at night ( that was a big deal for me for some reason). At some point we had to just try; we had to humble our self's and be okay with failing. just like we practiced all these things and over came them, we can practice failing... try crazy things you know you wont be able to achieve, but do it anyways. you might surprised yourself with how good you do or who knows maybe you will achieve it, bc the truth is you never really know until you try. if you start to see failing to be just as educational and productive as success, then fears like driving, riding you bike, or flushing the toilet become much less daunting and turn into a challenge worth excepting. start failing on a consistent bases, we all do it, sometimes it will be funny, sometimes it will hurt, but every time you will grow. I'm 17 almost 18 and just got my license, I over came the fear of driving.
i’m 19 and rarely drive because of my anxiety. Seeing someone else having similar circumstances makes me feel so seen! Your perseverance is so admirable! 🤎 I hope the best for you and your driving journey 🤎 You got this!
Felt! I got my permit pretty late because I was afraid of driving I got it at 16 and I practiced with my parents and I ended up in a car accident I wasn’t the one driving nor was it our fault but it like scared me and I didn’t want to drive for a while but I turn 20 next month and I hit the bullet and went and took my road test scared I passed but I was able to start driving again !
So proud of us..I'm 29 and just started driving again during this year..can't describe how happy when to go anywhere without asking help from my husband..i also have fear of driving but once you get used to it..the fear slowly disappears 👍👍
Yes!! It's such a liberating feeling! I'm so happy to hear that you pushed past your fear and got back on the road :') Here's to a more independent you! 🎉
Hey girl! I understand that you are 28 years old and finally started driving. I am forty. I started driving last fall of 2020. I am the big 40 myself. I am getting driving lessons too. I thank God my supportive mom paid for me to get driving lessons from a professional driving school. I agreed to reimburse my mom because I want to say thank you by giving her her money back. Good luck with your driving.
Hey Ayesha, that's so amazing!!❤ I feel reassured to meet other people who are just getting started with driving. Best of luck on the road as well! I am proud of us :)

Girl I'm 42 I got my license in January of this year! Getting my car in a couple of weeks so it's ok! Age doesn't matter as long as your still able to drive
@@cynthiajones3822 This is good to know. I am age 41 but I'm glad I found someone else that is driving who are in their 40s like me. I reside in NJ. I enjoy driving. Needed this video for encouragement! I just got my license this morning and I'm 21. I got hit by a drunk driver at 16 when I tried to learn and I've had horrible driving OCD and anxiety ever since. Proud of myself and this video makes me excited to drive alone soon
Hey Des, I'm so sorry you had to go through that experience 😭 Driving is nerve-racking enough as it is. Congrats on getting your license and proud of you for facing your fears!! 🎉✨
YAYYYY so proud of you!! It must be a very liberating feeling to go wherever you want, even if it's as simple as the grocery store. THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER!!!
This popped up on my RUclips feed and let me tell you something, I am so Proud of you!!! I’m 21 and I’m barely learning how to drive but that’s okay because I also have driving anxiety unfortunately but I’m taking it easy day by day.
I don't comment often. This was so comforting and reassuring to watch. I just got my license (December 10th) and I'm 29 so v relatable. We're doing it girls !! Baby steps 🥰
Thank you 💖. I’m 41. Been “learning to drive” (or avoiding it!) for the last year and a half. Going for my exam tomorrow! You’re right. Even if I don’t pass… it’s a step toward getting over my fear, and my fear of staying where I am is greater than my fear of driving!!
this video popped up right when i needed it too! i thought i was crazy for so long because of how anxious driving makes me, constantly questioning if i should even keep trying because everyone around me makes it seem like it is so easy but when i do it, it is terrifyingly difficult. this has inspired me to make those baby steps. the ending was something i desperately needed to hear. thank you so much for sharing your experience and how you learned to overcome this obstacle. you’ve inspired me
I'm almost 22 and honestly I was kind of embarrassed when friends younger than me already got their licence and even cars in some cases! That feeling stopped me from even trying to drive for a long time but know I now that everyone should go on their own pace and I'm not late in getting my licence :) I've been training with my mom and planning to get my license this year and hopefully stop being afraid of driving haha good luck to everyone studying for their driving licence!
I had my license sense i was 24. Been a full year i haven’t driven by my self i drive with my dad honestly he doesnt help me mostly scream when i make mistakes. I have driven by myself in my home area sense i feel safer. But these helped me alot seeing someone who has the same problem as me make me want to push myself more and get over my anxiety
My anxiety and fear of driving because of so many people where I live and their driving. I am 30 and starting to drive. Hope I can overcome my fear of driving. One day at a time.
Oh gosh I totally understand. I live in the burbs right now, but if I had to drive in NYC for example...I'd be terrified. Wishing you the best of luck and safety on the road!
It's okay! I'm 27 and I am not driving yet. I just got my permit a few months ago and taking my 5 hour course tomorrow. Nervous, but super excited at the same time to have the freedom of being able to drive alone.
I'm 16 and I have driving anxiety, each driving video I watch gives me a little bit of confidence for driving, especially this one oml. I hope I can drive on highways one day, but rn I'm going to stick to driving in neighborhoods and slower roads! :D
thank you this really make me feel better. That fear of failure has kept me from driving. However, like you I am tired of being a burden to those around by having to be driven everywhere. I want to be able to give ride, and drive myself where I want to go.
Thanks for your comment Jess! I know that feeling all too well😟 When you push through the fear through, it will be like unlocking a new level of independence
Thank you so much for uploading this. I’m 27 and will be 28 in a few months. I also have my license. Getting my license was the hardest things (as of now) for me to accomplish and haven’t made good use of it. I got it when I was I think 20 or 21. Never been in an accident but have seen some sh!t. I was always afraid of crashing or making dangerous mistakes. My anxiety kept me from driving and I would always avoid it. This upcoming year as my New Years resolution I plan on getting back on the road. I hate asking for rides too. Just this past week my mother in law gave me a ride to take my daughter to her doctors appointment. Sometimes my husband goes in an a hour late to work just to take me where I need to go (& he’s a terrible driver). Like you said, I can’t let fear stop me from trying. I know how to control a car, and i know how to drive. There are things I still need to practice on (pick up where I left off), but how will I learn if I never practice them? If anyone can do it, so can I.
Ah I can totally relate! The thought of crashing or making a mistake is terrifying. But yes, if your husband who (sounds like a wonderful person) is a "terrible driver"😅 can do it, you can too! You sound like the type of person who is extra careful and attentive on the road, so I just have faith that you will be okay 💕
I'm 28 and learning to drive now! I was in t car accidents over the span of about 6 months to a year so I was super afraid haha, im still a rubbish passenger, but this vid is helping 😁
Thank you so much for sharing this. I've had my licence since I was 28 and never drove anywhere. Anytime i would be asked to drive I would get scared. i passed my driving test on the 1st try but the fear was just too much to do anything after that. I also hate having to beg people for rides including my dad. i don't have a vehicle of my own but Im able to rent. I turn 32 on April 29th and I plan on renting to drive myself and my friend to the beach for bbq. She is more confident than I am lol but it is something I want to do. I was very nervous but seeing your video made me smile and now im excited about being in the driver's seat for the 1st time in 4yrs( last time was for my driver's test). Im still a lottle scared about driving by myself but I will have to be brave. Thank you so much ^^
Aw thank you so much for this comment. For a moment, I got a little emotional there because I totally understand how you feel. The fear of driving can be crippling! But I'm glad you've set a goal for yourself and something to look forward to as you prepare. Have a wonderful trip and safe travels!💖
@@itsgdubs Thank you so much^^. My dad and his friend called me a chicken cause of my fear lol. I love youtube for this reason; every now and then you ran into an inspirational video you weren't looking for lol. Your video is out here helping loads of ppl. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who is a bit scared. Keep inspiring ppl! :)
Thank you for sharing your experience. I also past my exam the first time I took it, but I still felt like I didn't deserve my pass. I think that lack of confidence makes me so afraid of driving. I lack trust in my own judgment. These comments and this videos reassures me so freaking much. I realize that I am not alone in feeling scared.
I absolutely love you for this video 🥰 I also have SEVERE driving anxiety and I have also started driving after years and years of not touching a car. I can’t park like others can, but this was such a sweet video :). I hope this upcoming year is a good one for all of us who are struggling with panic on the road. Anyway, I just came to say, I hear you, I’m with you, and most of all I really appreciate you! Subbed and liked.
Hey Fa, you are so brave! Anxiety is the worst and it's not easy getting back in the driver's seat after years of avoiding it. I applaud you for fighting through the anxiety👏👏 I appreciate YOU and thank you so much for your support!💕
38 and I have driving anxiety. got over it mostly at 33. Driving in cities like LA still makes me panic though and I make sure to avoid it. stunted my life for sure, lost a lotta time in my 20s and early 30s.
I'm so proud of you! How amazing ! I'm 28 myself, and just got my permit for the 3rd time. I'm a good driver with anxiety of taking my test because of the instructor mostly [ they make me so nervousss] . The 1st time [18yr old me] i failed my test because i was so nervous even with all my practice and having to impress my instructor. i was so discouraged i didn't try again. Second time, i made excuses to take my driving test before my permit expired so had to renew, not to mention i didn't drive in what felt like ages. Now I'm 28yr , got my permit, I'm more motivated then ever and want my independence like forreal this time! I've been practicing with my fiancé and in love with how much confidence i've gotten with driving again. This video reminds me of me at times, and seeing you pull through in the end just makes me so happy! Not to mention how relatable, esp with listening to your fav songs, it helps me relax too! I'm so pumped to achieve my goal and get my license. So thank you for posting this doll ( = xoxo
Omg congratulations on getting your permit!! :') So glad to hear you've gained confidence from practicing and can't wait for you to get your license! Thank you for sharing this
Thank you ❤️ . Im 27 and this year is my goal to start driving even if its just a little. I have bad anxiety but now i think im ready. Wathcing these type of Videos and especially people being my age gives me motivation.
Just stumbled across this channel. I've been wanting to drive since I was 6 years old, and mental illness has gotten in the way... up until now! I'm going for my license at 32, and I am incredibly happy with myself. I'm very glad to have stumbled across a whole world of driving vlogs that are helping me greatly. Your video was also put together very nicely! Hopefully you'll reach that 1000 sub mark soon!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I just got my license and will have a car tomorrow. My driving alone will be soon and seeing someone else going through it is calming.
Thank you for this video honestly. I’m currently in a similar situation so watching this and listening to ur advice has rlly helped and motivated me to keep trying behind the wheel and not let fear win!❤️
I felt this to my core this is something I’ve been struggling with 😮💨 I’ve had my license for quite some time now and I’ve driven a handful of times alone ..Music calms me down as well when I’m driving …when I haven’t driven in awhile I don’t listen to music and I’m so in my head that I don’t even realize it 😮💨 music is my best friend!
Yes! Now I can't drive without listening to music 😅 I have a "car playlist" on Spotify of songs that specifically calm my nerves when driving. So helpful haha
Glad I found this video. I first got my license at age 28 and never drove. Finally moved to US and wasn't able to get behind the wheel again. So I never drove for 5 years while living here. Now at age 35, I finally ripped the bandaid and got my US license. I second about driving with family. Although I got my license but I was so nervous when my husband is in the car. Few days ago because of some situation I had to drive back myself in the wee morning and on the highway (for the first time by myself). I was mentally preparing myself for hours and running thru different situations. But when I finally got in the car and drove, the usual anxiety kinda disappeared. It wasn't there. I mean I was still worrying but not as bad. So the summer plan is to keep trying to drive every day for 10 minutes to somewhere and back. I have done a lot of difficult things in life but driving seems to be the most difficult.
Thank you so much even though comment maybe late still learning how to drive and I’m 18 I take my driving test in September I’m scared of driving with my dad because s he yelling me anxiety is really bad so when I make a mistake I’m so hard on myself seeing you makes me feel a little bit better! 💗
Good luck on your driving test Gnilim!! When my parents are in the car, I become a much more anxious driver...so I totally understand🥺 Practicing on my own helped me become a lot more confident on the road (without someone yelling in my ear lol). Again, I started small by driving around my house and gradually ventured out to the outskirts of my neighborhood, and so on a so forth! Be patient with yourself - you got this!👏
im 21 and i just got my license today!! i got my permit at 17 but i never practiced bc i was too anxious. im glad i waited though. i dont want to take the bus anymore. i want to hang out with friends. i want to have a place to eat on my lunch break so i can be alone. i was in an accident early this year and it made me anxious for a while. im gonna be driving by myself tomorrow morning when i go to work!! im a little nervous even though i know how to do it. im glad i found your video :)
Aw yay congrats on getting your license!! I'm sorry to hear about the accident. I know how nerve-racking it can be getting back on the road, but I can sense your determination and know you can do it. Rooting for you!
Honestly exposure therapy is the best way to get rid of the fear of driving cause when u come to terms that your eventually gonna need to drive for yourself cause u have the license and everything just go for it do small bits at a time from small roads and work up to highways it'll get easier with the practice and experience with certain things and when I'm worried I just pretend I'm in Mario kart with the lane I'm in and it helps distract me from making stupid mistakes likes swerving lol
I’m 30 & I’m terrified of driving I only wish someone taught me when I was younger, but definitely wanna get over my fear I hate relying on others for rides☹️
I’m 23 and I had gotten my learners license in March 2022 and my mom said on February I can take driving lessons, but yes I was feeling embarked that so many people are ahead of me , my cousin is 19 and has his full license now .
i know this is an old vlog, but i was looking for a driving vlog where i can teach myself some basic driving. im 29 right now and im just learning how to drive but dang anxiety keeps me from learning immediately. my dad would scold me when i panic and i get stressed during the drive. Im learning but not as fast as people who are more confident than i am. 🙂 im happy that you were able to overcome your anxiety and pushed through with driving 😍
Aw I can relate😭 Driving with my parents always created so much anxiety. And I know it's discouraging when other people seem to be learning at a faster pace, but I think with driving, everyone should take as much time as they need. Especially when safety is concerned. I'm wishing the best for you and hope you can overcome your anxiety too :)
Thats where i am right now. Just first time to drive alone i went to the church. I made mistakes but almost hit a car. But that mistakes helps me to be more aware of my surroundings.
It’s never too old to learn how to drive. Maturity matters. Car insurance is higher in younger drivers. It’s ok that you enjoyed life first when you were in high school or in college. It’s one thing to make your mental health feel good. This is what I’m going to probably do, learn how to drive later in life. I’m now 18 & a senior in high school, LOL. Maybe when I turn 19, I’ll tell my parents that I want to learn how to drive so I won’t be Mr. Lonely.
Last year i took my first driving lesson, my instructor is really good but a days go on I’m just not comfortable with him, so I’m stop practice maybe bcuz I’m so nervous/anxiety I guess..hehe!! I’m Planning to take my second driving lesson ..so that driving test after.. pls pray for me!😊 thanks for your video that I’m not alone (getting my license late).
Oh no I'm sure the anxiety doesn't help😔 If your instructor makes you feel uncomfortable though, I hope you can find someone else! Praying that your test goes well! You got this!!
hi youtube! learning barely at 24! shout out to everyone who is learning later than they themselves thought they would- will update when I drive alone for first time! You got this! Hopefully i do too lol
I was scared to do it but I thought doing it because of COVID. Since I don't want to deal with public bus and got permit to drive but I'm Vancouver is a little different. So I have more test to do before I become class 5
I have anxiety because my car is old and i don’t have lane assist or anything i just have to depend on myself and my eyes lol now imagine if i have a new car it would stop me from switching lanes etc if there was a car there 🥲 i had my license for a year and only drove once alone and never again anywhere because my anxiety i want to over come this by the end of year
Thank you for this! I also had my driver’s license since i was a teenager and this year im turning 28 and still very anxious to drive. 🥲 but am also taking baby steps! 🫶🏻 we are all in this together. Keep safe!

Oh gosh I'm so sorry to hear that!🥺 But proud of you for getting behind the wheel again. You're on your way to conquering your fear!
@@melca758 Haha I can relate! And thank you 🥺💕
Thank you for sharing your experience. I also past my exam the first time I took it, but I still felt like I didn't deserve my pass. I think that lack of confidence makes me so afraid of driving. I lack trust in my own judgment. These comments and this videos reassures me so freaking much. I realize that I am not alone in feeling scared.
I absolutely love you for this video 🥰
I also have SEVERE driving anxiety and I have also started driving after years and years of not touching a car.
I applaud you for fighting through the anxiety👏👏
I appreciate YOU and thank you so much for your support!💕
Thank you for sharing this
Thank you so much for your bravery. This was such an inspirational video.
Thank you Shanae!!🥺
Thank you ❤️ . Im 27 and this year is my goal to start driving even if its just a little. I have bad anxiety but now i think im ready. Wathcing these type of Videos and especially people being my age gives me motivation.
Thank you! Safe journey everytime!
I am so happy to hear that & glad you are getting behind the wheel at a time that is right for you! :) Tysm for the kind words!
Keep going Annette!❤ It may take time, but it IS possible to overcome this fear! You got this :')
omg same girl !! i am trying to get better !! proud of you
Thanks Emily! We got this haha
Be patient with yourself - you got this!👏
It’s ok. It’s part of life.
if you make a driving mistake, just look ahead like nothing happened, or just signal an apology to the affected driver
Thanks for this video!
You got this!!! ❤❤❤
im 21 and i just got my license today!! i got my permit at 17 but i never practiced bc i was too anxious. im glad i waited though. i dont want to take the bus anymore. i want to hang out with friends. i want to have a place to eat on my lunch break so i can be alone. i was in an accident early this year and it made me anxious for a while. im gonna be driving by myself tomorrow morning when i go to work!! im a little nervous even though i know how to do it. im glad i found your video :)
Aw yay congrats on getting your license!! I'm sorry to hear about the accident. I know how nerve-racking it can be getting back on the road, but I can sense your determination and know you can do it. Rooting for you!
24 here and same situation. The anxiety is holding me back
Ah good luck to you!! I still have anxiety when I drive but it is definitely going away slowly but surely.
Praying for me taking driving license and able to drive like you❤
i know this is an old vlog, but i was looking for a driving vlog where i can teach myself some basic driving. im 29 right now and im just learning how to drive but dang anxiety keeps me from learning immediately. my dad would scold me when i panic and i get stressed during the drive. Im learning but not as fast as people who are more confident than i am. 🙂
im happy that you were able to overcome your anxiety and pushed through with driving 😍
Agreed! What matters is that you're learning from your mistakes 👏
Lonely.
Totally!👏 Thank you for the affirmation. I'm glad you've decided to take your time. We're all on our own path and should do what feels right for us.
The music is so calming its making me want to sleep
congratulations
I am 31 and beginning to drive. I booked my road test for later this year. I hope to pass on my first try.
Baby steps and Yoo-Hoo drinks !👍👍👍
Finally we both did it at 28.You should be proud
Woot!🎉
Last year i took my first driving lesson, my instructor is really good but a days go on I’m just not comfortable with him, so I’m stop practice maybe bcuz I’m so nervous/anxiety I guess..hehe!! I’m Planning to take my second driving lesson ..so that driving test after.. pls pray for me!😊 thanks for your video that I’m not alone (getting my license late).
Oh no I'm sure the anxiety doesn't help😔 If your instructor makes you feel uncomfortable though, I hope you can find someone else! Praying that your test goes well! You got this!!
Updated i got my driving license last summer.. yehey! Now I’m driving alone at first kinda scary but days goes on,not anymore..
hi I'm 28 and I barely know how to drive lol I'm working on it
Best of luck! haha seems there are a lot more of us out there than I thought
We’re not alone. I’m still 18 years old. Maybe when I turn 19, my parents will teach me to how to drive. No more Mr. Lonely.
hi youtube! learning barely at 24! shout out to everyone who is learning later than they themselves thought they would- will update when I drive alone for first time! You got this! Hopefully i do too lol
I was scared to do it but I thought doing it because of COVID. Since I don't want to deal with public bus and got permit to drive but I'm Vancouver is a little different. So I have more test to do before I become class 5
Oh wow I had no idea what the driving requirements are like in Vancouver! Good luck to you Phoebe!
@@itsgdubs thank you and I have a year and half left before I get my class 5. Plus driving alone is a little nerve wracking
I have anxiety because my car is old and i don’t have lane assist or anything i just have to depend on myself and my eyes lol now imagine if i have a new car it would stop me from switching lanes etc if there was a car there 🥲 i had my license for a year and only drove once alone and never again anywhere because my anxiety i want to over come this by the end of year
Good luck Angelique!! Take baby steps and slowly but surely you will start to overcome your anxiety. I believe in you!
@@itsgdubs thank you 💓

Thank you! I am currently working on a vlog that is partially a drive with me :) Always open to suggestions!
@@itsgdubs Great! Can you do a drive with me video where you show off your shoes on the pedals while driving? And comment on if they're easy or not to drive in? Kinda do like a review if you will. I find birks a bit challenging lol!
