I really liked this one. I'm hungarian. This guy really saw what is real in Hungary. Thank you! Btw I was born in Romania, but in a hungarian way, there are many. Like Transylvania
So funny! When I first went to America, every time they asked me how are you, i answered with a list of things, if im good-why, if not-why. And they alllll looked at me funny and didnt understand why. Soon i learned, there it means, nice to meet you or hello, as a response you just ask back, maybe say im good. But in Hungary- he is right - we do go into details because how are you actually means how are you. Loved how this guy picked up on this. He REALLY kept his eyes open in Hungary and observed a lot!!!
It is insane how well he pronounces Hungarian! It is a bit confusing listening to him, my brain almost flipped like: right he sounds like an original Hungarian now.
I never understood why "How are you?" becomes a greeting. It makes no sense. Why not use an actual greeting like "Good day"? "How are you" is a specific question. It's not a greeting. I'm sorry but Hungarians have it right on this one :))
I never forget when I came to the US the main direction to social interaction was “ If they ask u how r u do not fall for it.Nobody really wants to know, with them it is just a polite gesture. If u start to tell anything real about urself they think u r naive unsophisticated and boring and they soon cut u off or restlessly but politely listen and get away as soon as they can” This sounded real cold but later on I realized the person who told me this , from feeling of first rejection was afraid to go further and find the warmth in other ways and that it was just a cultural difference . The american people have great warmth that was shown in different ways. This was 50 y ago and that time it was not yet a custom to hug and give high fives and knuckles etc. It was more formal and u had to work to find the warmth and animation . U would be surprised to go back there . I like this now but my 97 y old mom BROUGHT UP WITH MORE FORMAL RULES says this is too much too soon to treat a stranger u just met like ur lost best friend. I just say WHATEVER . BE HAPPY TO GET A FREE HUG !!! This is my five cents as an old Hungarian NENI.U r really sweet with great compassion.Really enjoyed it .And I’m not even much religious.
Your pronunciation is great!!!!Next time you have to try hurka with fresh bread, mustard and kovaszosuborka, you might gonna change your mind LOLAnyway...thank you for your honest and kind words about our beautiful country!!!Hopefully we will see you again!!!!
You have such a cute accent. 😀 Some words you've actually pronounced perfecly! Zöld (means green in Hungarian) was one of them, even if it felt weird for you, you've pronounced just as a real Hungarian, well done! Yeah hurka can be weird but definitely shouldn't have been any bones in it lol. It actually has few versions of it, especially if it is homemade. I don't like the one with blood in it, but the plain one is pretty good. My dad made the best one, just like the best smoked ham and other stuff too. 😋
I was soo happy to hear these stories about my homeland❤ I think you got to know hungarian people even better than we know each other:( by the way your accent is pretty good Greetings from Hungary Imagine that we had gyümölcsleves for lunch today😂
How are you is not usually a greeting! If we ask it’s because we actually want to know whether you’re ok or not! You can say szia, helló, jó napot etc...
I love Hurka. I bought some at the Hungarian butcher for Christmas it was so salty we gave it to the animals. I had no back up plan for dinner do not remember what we ended up eating. I have tried Hurka from the Polish butcher also it was horrible salty. The best Hurka is the one my cousin brings down from Canada, he makes it himself.
This video is very interesting. Your Hungarian pronunciation is marvellous. You have a gift to speak that language as a native, please carry on learning. Thumbs up😁👍greetings from Budapest 🌞
It was so good to listen to Your stories and experiences. I'm so happy You had a good time in our country. You clearly understood how people really are in Hungary it was very touching, sometimes I get emotional of Your words. Thank You for sharing Your opinion and experiences! I think You should give one more try to hurka, because personally I've never had any hurka with bones in it. Sounds gross I think it wasn't well prepared. There is anothe type of hurka, which is called májashurka, it's prepared mostly from liver and it's delicious. Try it next time you visit our littlle country. Your Hungarian is very impressive. Even your ő, and ű. Zöld was just perfect! I couldn't even believe, that an foreginer can spell it so beutifully.
With the "korcsolya" you mean kocsonya, you missed out that they pour meat soup on the pig parts so it turns to jelly in the fridge cause of the collagen.
Not just [ö, ő, ü, ű], but clear [a, e, é, o, u] are also super important. Also [cs, dz, dzs, gy, ny, ty]. Heck, every letter should sound clear and unaltered. But your pronunciation is not too bad considering you are coming from the states.
lol, at 4:11 my saliva glands activated way before you said I was gonna be like, yumm:) btw, it is kocsonya (jelly/bonemeal), not korcsolya (=skate) and I agree, horrible stuff :(. Unless you warm it up. Then it becomes a bone soup, which is one of my favorite soups kinda after the meggyleves/gyümölcsleves (sour cherry soup/fruit soup). And véres/mályas hurka (blood/liver sausage) is the best thing next to the tejfölös rakott káposzta (sour cream + ~packed cabbage)! Túrós csusza pirított szalonnával ftw! (cottage cheese + cour cream + pasta + roasted bacon bits + sugar for me:)) Haha, I'm a lucky person and I know it:D
Have to add, that you are also lucky, Mexican food is very delicious! Had the chance to try it in the US, I wanted to eat that every day, despite my stomach doesn't support that much spice:)
Your video made me smile so much! So great you experienced so many great things about Hungarians. Gypsies on the ciganytelep live like this because they are abandoned by the government and people, also facing a lot of prejudice. They need the most help. 😔❤
Funny how u loved the fruitsoup. I'm half hungarian and I am totaly disgusted by it! :O I'm now a vegan but prior to that I used to LOVE Hurka :P It's pigsblood and intestines, that's why it's black :)
Yes the nénis cook good. And in Hungary if you go to you're grandma you are thin and if you come from grandma you have diabetes because she cooks and if you don't eat three plates of food she's gonna be mad
those nénis are our grannies, their mission is to make us fat and happy
Kocsonya- ko - cho - nya is the food , korcsolya is rollerskates xd
Dude, I am impressed with your pronunciation.
I really liked this one. I'm hungarian. This guy really saw what is real in Hungary. Thank you! Btw I was born in Romania, but in a hungarian way, there are many. Like Transylvania
The hurka is also a staple of England, called black pudding, it's bloody delicious 🤗. My father was Hungarian and the food is out of this world! ❤️

Brave! An avarage Hungarian would never go to eat to gypsy families :-)
It is insane how well he pronounces Hungarian! It is a bit confusing listening to him, my brain almost flipped like: right he sounds like an original Hungarian now.
no the blood sausage version is just one out of 3 different hurka styles, theres also liver, and regular meat/rice.

Its kocsonya, and basic aspic, hurka varies with regions, in fact all food varies by regions.
When I moved to US I had to try many different food too!
How are you is not usually a greeting! If we ask it’s because we actually want to know whether you’re ok or not! You can say szia, helló, jó napot etc...
BIG W for saying Budapesht and not Budapest! 💪

With the "korcsolya" you mean kocsonya, you missed out that they pour meat soup on the pig parts so it turns to jelly in the fridge cause of the collagen.

Thanks for coming to our country! GOD EXISTS!
No way the kocsonya it’s very good
The black sausage is not just eaten in Hungary. The Scots eat it too and many other people in EEurope
Wow...you have a very good accent in hungarian ! I think for you to learn hungarian is very easy !
Black sausage is very similar to Irish black pudding.

We have a saying: Crying laughs in Hungarian

You are really handsome!

That was a shitty hurka there aren't supposed to have bone pieces in it.
Oké én magyar vagyok de nem szertem a hurkát/Ok im hungarian but im don't like "hurka"
Blood sausage is definitely not unique to Hungary . . .
