I did too, first tour with Van Halen...78 Atlanta, GA...THE FOX THEATER....was awesome! .....and on Rolie's last tour with them before he left... DEPARTURE/ CAPTURED tour.80...Atlanta GA...THE OMNI
First heard this on Armed Forces Radio as a soldier in Panama shortly before I returned to civilian life. Song rings true today and is near the top of my workout plsylist Good tune for crunches and sit-ups Best Journey song ever played First time I heard the live version. Thanks for putting it out there Excellent guitar and keyboard riffing going on. I like it!
Yes Gregg Rolie of course is the original lead singer on this tune, but this particular version also features Perry, which makes it cool and relatively rare.
First three albums unmatched musically by the Perry era stuff. Some of the later stuff was ok for what it is, but the first three albums were stellar. Some people are musically illiterate and have no understanding...no sense trying to explain it...either you get it, or you don't!
@johnnymohawk1015 You either get it or you don't. There's nothing wrong with not getting it! I am njust saying anyone that thinks the MUSIC complexity (not singing as Perry is a great vocalist), doesn't understand music. I never said you had to agree with my opinion moron! You can post that I am an idiot, and my opinion stinks, just like I think your post stinks! You people today get your frathers ruffled if everyone doesn't agree with your take.
@@johnnymohawk1015Oh my God...grow up...I posted MY opinion....of course I think it is correct. I NEVER said anyone has to agree with it! If I think others are musically illiterate that does not mean they agree with me. Dish it back I can take it. I do like most of the stuff with Perry, when Rolie was in the band. I think I dislike Cain's influence much more than Perry's! I am also not saying that Perry was not talented...everyone knows what a fantastic voice he has. I was speaking about the music, leaving lyrics and singing aside.
Weird how wildly defensive you got, while saying that I get my “feathers ruffled” so easy. Go back and re-read my reply. I didn’t even disagree with your opinion let alone state a different one.
@johnnymohawk1015 Thanks for your opinion. You most certainly DID disagree with my post, however, passive-aggressive it was. That is fine...I stand by my opinion...if you disagree that is fine.
Thanks for the HQ, Johnny: directly in my Journey/SP chronological playlist instead of the old version! Mariet2, who posted this track on RUclips about 15 years ago, dated the recording to *September 2, 1978.* Are you sure of your dating in March 1978? (personally, I have no idea, so I can't say either way)
It’s from a WKQX FM broadcast, recorded on March 4th, 1978 at Mantra Studios in Chicago. I believe that previously, this recording was misidentified as taking place at Monitro Studios which may be the reason for the confusion of the dates.
I love the band journey. I love the changes with Steve Smith when he came in as on drums the vocals with Steve Perry, Greg Raleigh Steve Perry even stated that he liked it because he was able to rest his voice that it was it such a strain that he had somebody that also could’ve seen lead, when the group became with Neil Greg Steve, in the addition to Steve Smith on drums, the group became tighter Neil’s guitar playing became better. The sound was so much better. They were ready for stardom, and they soared and it was wonderful until Greg decided that the traveling was too much. Neil got too greedy, not wanting to take time off so Greg had had been on this circus for a long time. But this group I felt was a better group and I felt that they got a long a lot better I felt when Jonathan Cain came into the picture It was just too much strain for Steve. Nobody understood that he had to rest his voice during the day not able to speak to anybody. They gave them a hard time about this and I think after a period time Steve had to jump off. The merry go round he didn’t have time to mourn his mothers, death or deal with other issues as they sit and watch his band mates marriage after marriage I think it just got too much and I understand why Steve took a step back And nobody can say that Steve is not the one that got them to the status that they did, because he did they tried the core of them until Steve got into the picture
You my brother are precisely, positively and unquestionably dead on balls accurate. Aside from being stone deaf, a casual listen to this song clearly demonstrates conclusively, that this is in fact, Pre - Perry - intense, mighty, mature, magical and magnificent, early all original Journey, circa 1976-77!
@@CyregOOK, I get it, The Lord tells us not to judge, however, Journey played "Look Into The Future" twice live during the 1978 tour, and neither of the shows were recorded. This live version (without Perry) was taken from 7/31/77 at the Seatle Coliseum Center, when Neal was sharing the vocals on several songs, with Gregg during that tour. (as well as soloing on "Karma" and "I would find you") Also of interest Neal and Gregg did a reunion benefit show in 2018 that included "Look Into The Future" and a handful of early masterpieces that they have not toured with in decades. It's said to be released end of next month (May) on cd/dvd. Check it out, Turn it up and play it LOUD!

@@johnnymohawk1015 thank you so very much! great era of Journey!!
blasting through nebulas where no one had gone before that's power of early journey
The Rolie - Perry Era is still my favorite Journey. I was fortunate to have experienced it when I was a teenager.

Superb....simply amazing and just impeccable. Love this so much!❤️
What a Gem !
I always thought their two voices matched quite well together! Thanks for sharing! #StevePerry #FTLOSP

Love Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie. never liked Jonathon Cain
This was Gregg's song and he shouldn't have had to share it. Still......thanks for uploading it.
Sounded to me like he didn't share it. I could hear Perry on some backing vocals, but that was it.
Wore this LP out, Neil Schon at his best 🤘🏻
Wore this LP out listening to Neal’s blistering guitar !
Sweet. 78 ❤️🎶 . Aw. Eternity 💫 🔥♥️
love this song
Su segunda producción discografía y su género era progresivo y MUYYYY BUENO.
Love it ! Thanks for sharing......Great pics. ! ❣❣❣❣❣❣
Totally amazing ❤️❤️
I Freaking Love this💜 Thanks for posting😁😍
When it was the music that was first.
Mostly Greg Rolle
