This song is perfection both emotionally and vocally. To me, and I'm sure to many, it's the best thing anyone has ever sung and recorded, and the most valuable. There may still be questions about why so many people believe that Dimash is the best? I don't know, maybe only a robot will be emotionless after watching and listening to this video. Exactly! I reckon it would make for a great test for weeding out sociopaths y'know, if they can somehow get through "that" scene and remain unaffected... I personally missed out on a lot of the action first time around, because I was just bawling my eyes out for a lot of it - and the sight of that poor little girl's shoes as her daddy Dimash was cradling her in grief, just broke me completely! Even now, it still brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it...😭😢

The child that Dimash found was his child & the woman giving birth was his wife (the girl from the beach) whi Dimash presumed was dead too & she died in childbirth which is why the necklace was placed on the child. At the end Dimash was the grown baby leading all those people of different cultures/religions. Full circle. Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece. I had to watch it a few times to get the whole story as there is so much going on.

What I understand is that the woman who gave birth was the little girl from the beginning. She gave birth to Dimash's son. Did you notice the baby wearing the necklace? The dimash at the end was his son, born while he was dying. That is my understanding of the story. You already figured out that the tyrant was the little boy from the beginning. The baby boy born was Dimash's. The young girl on the beach at the beginning of the video was the mother. Their baby grew up to be a religious leader who looked just like his father. The child killed during the war was also their daughter.

The part in the video with the little girl and the people in the hallway were Dimash’s family who had been wiped out the little girl whose body he picked up was his daughter, the baby that was born was his son who grew up to be Dimash grown up at the end. This video needs to be shown worldwide.

Not many people know that Dimash is deeply immersed not only in pop singing and opera music, but also in sacred music too. I think (and this is evident from this video) that he has a deep interest and understanding of not only the symbolism of the major world religions, but also some of the ancient mystical teachings.
A little background...
On February 4, 2019, a historic meeting was held in Abu Dhabi between Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayyib, as a result of which the document "Human brotherhood for the sake of world peace and common life" was signed.
The ideas set out in the document "Fraternity of Humanity for World Peace and Common Life" were developed in the Fratelli tutti (All Brothers) encyclical published on October 4, 2020 by Pope Francis, dedicated to universal brotherhood and social friendship.
And on September 14, 2022, in the homeland of Dimash - in Kazakhstan, the Congress of Spiritual Leaders of the Major World Religions was held. At this Congress, Dimash met and spoke with the spiritual leaders of the world, including Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayib.
And it is very symbolic that Dimash's first performance of the song "The Story of One Sky" took place there - at the Congress in Kazakhstan, as part of the cultural program prepared by the host country for the guests of this world forum.
The text at the end of the video is a direct quote from the aforementioned appeal to the world "The brotherhood of man for world peace ..".
Now to the plot of the video...
The storyline of this video is built on the interconnection of many different symbols, the understanding of the purpose and essence of which lifts the veil of secrecy for us and reveals the deep philosophical meaning inherent in this video, which is, in fact, the artistic embodiment of the ideas of that very document - “Human brotherhood for the sake of peace worldwide...".
The first symbol that appears at the beginning of the video (a plate of strict geometric lines resembling a triangle in shape) is a gnomon from a marine compass sundial. A triangular blade attached to such a watch cast a shadow on the sundial, and a perforated hole inside the triangle projected the light of the sun onto the watch dial. The gnomon was used by navigators for both timing and navigation: one of the gnomon's contour lines was always oriented to true north (like a magnetized needle in a modern compass).
Further, according to the plot of the video, we see that the guy who at the beginning of the video saved his younger friend, who almost drowned, could not accept his gratitude - because of the feeling of jealousy that flooded over him. He never put on the pendant (gnomon) given to him by his rescued friend, and even crumpled the pendant given to him in his fist in a fit of jealousy, envy and hopeless anger. The symbolism of this moment is that the bent gnomon will never again be oriented to true north.
Having broken the gnomon, this guy, figuratively speaking, lost his life and moral compass. And then we see where the anger hidden in his soul led him - he becomes a military leader, dictator and murderer, in fact - a conductor of the ideas of darkness and the embodiment of human evil. This is indicated by the emblem in the form of a modified outline of the gnomon, as a military insignia on the uniform of the commander and his soldiers. But their gnomon not only lost its original form, but also lost that inner “window” that was originally inside it and - in theory - should let sunlight pass through itself, for the benefit of people.
A gnomon that has lost the ability to pass the light of the Sun through itself also loses the ability to show a person the direction to a true guide, including a spiritual one. When a person distorts the original meaning of a symbol that is important to him, he turns it into something that contradicts the idea, essence, meaning, purpose of this symbol. And this something that has lost its connection with the light becomes a new symbol for a person, devoid of soul and light, blind, a compass, no longer oriented towards the light, but towards the darkness.

Hi, if you go to the official page of Dimash news, it has a description in detail of the song. It has a lot of symbolism and the story line will be clearer. Also first time reactions are difficult to take in all the information, just because your paying attention to different aspects at the same time. If you watch it a few times you will capture more as you concentrate in one aspect each time you see it. I saw it the first time just putting my attention on the images and story then the second time I put subtitles, then the third I listened to he's vocals, then the fourth I took it all in. The whole song is about the story of a dead person (requiem means a funeral mass). In this story of the the three friends, we see how the symbolic amulet came to be. But the children grow up. The general, the boy who saved Dimash from drowning, has taken their symbol and changed it into the symbol for their side in a war apparently over land and greed (shares).Dimash is a soldier fighting for their side but throughout the death and destruction and the loss of Dimash’s daughter cause him to morally realize that the war was not worth all this horror. In his revenge and horror and shock he decides to try to stop the war by killing his friend the general. Meanwhile his wife was giving birth to their second child but does not survive leaving the amulet to their son. The son will be raised by others and we are left to wonder which way will he be raised? That his father was hero and probably shortened the war or if the war continues on with the meaning of the amulet changed for the worse. In the end we see that Dimash in death joins the ranks of all the other people of the world and of all religions, who had also tried to end wars and be peacemakers. They are all walking towards the light, to God. Dimash is trying to make people see that war is wrong and we as mankind should stop doing it because it only brings death and the cycle will never end unless we make it so. He does it by showing the brutal realities and his amazing vocals telling the moral story. This is the story in a nutshell but the layers upon layers of symbolic meaning will continue to reveal themselves to you over time.

@@lindahake1666 I’m sticking with my version because as one of the other commenters said, you can still see the blood stain on his shirt before he walks away on his way to heaven, with a strong reference to that as going to the light and the way the music sounded. Affirmation that Dimash was right to try to end the carnage. Remember the video is about Dimash, his requiem, the story of the dead. There are many, many ways to interpret the different aspects of this video. For instance one commenter said he thought the man who died on the trail represented Jesus dying and reincarnating in to the baby. Which I thought was an interesting concept because that was an aspect of the video I couldn’t really figure out. I had the impression that the walkers were all dead people on their way to heaven which got reaffirmed when Dimash joined their ranks. That’s what is so powerful about this video, it has the ability to connect with you no matter what your religious concepts or world views might be.

Dimash has worked hard for 3 years on this MV, and it turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE, for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts in trying to bring the world together in love, peace and unity. He is a Legend and will go down in History.
The mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, 1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end; 2) Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end; 3) The young girl, became Dimash’s future wife who gave birth to his son at the end, and Dimash's daughter who was killed by the Piper's army. They were all torn by the war.
For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through the throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim or (Shepard or a Wise Man) at the end of the video was Dimash’s baby boy, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love and harmony.

My take on the ending is that ,his child being born as he was killed has now grown up and is leading followers of all walks of life and religions .Dimash is now playing his own son at the end . Thank you for the reaction! I've watched the original video many times and I can't take the song out of my head. This song is the first thing that comes to my mind when I wake up in the morning or in the middle of the night. It's been like that since I first watched the MV. Dimash used a lot of symbols. The necklace object is a Gnomon of a sundial in a maritime compass. It has a pinhole that allows the light to pass through. It is oriented to the true North. In the case of the 3rd child, he never put on the necklace. He seems to hold it upside down and he bended it. It can't work as a compass any more. The kid gave a totally wrong meaning to the symbol. He uses it later as his military symbol but it's upside down and has no hole, so he's going in the wrong direction away from light. Another symbolism is when Dimash goes to take revenge for the death of his daughter you can see a change in the weather with dark skies, lightning and like a sand storm that makes very difficult for the pilgrims to advance. The written statement at the end is from The Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together, also known as the Abu Dhabi declaration, is a joint statement signed by Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, on 4 February 2019. Dimash is using his art work and his magnificent voice to send us such an important message of peace and fraternity. He is a God's gift for humanity.

At the beginning 3 children appear, the boy who makes the talismans is Dimash, the 2 boys are in love with the girl, years later Dimash and the girl get married and have a daughter (the girl who dies in the video) the villain of the story is the other boy, who leads everyone to war with his idea that "there is life in war". When Dimash mentions the "Piper" in the song, he is based on the Pied Piper of Hamelin, who with his flute lured and hypnotized rats to follow him and die, in the song the "Piper" is the evil leader, who led everyone to death with a war in search of a supposed "Union".
At the end, the protagonist (Dimash) kills his childhood friend (the villain) and he dies too. Falling in the water and shouting "we choose life" is a desperate cry of "There is no life in war, war is death", declaring that humanity wants to live and begins to remembering everything that happened is where fragments of them are shown as children with the talismans and as they grow up in war.
We can see how the one who saved his life one day, years later, takes away his family and the lives of his people. The baby who is born at the end is Dimash's son, his mother dies giving birth (the girl at the beginning of the video) and the Dimash who comes out at the end while walking in the desert with everyone behind, is the baby already tall, because That's why the talisman hangs, it's a representation of a Liberator seeking peace, and that's why everyone is behind him, this is all after the war.

The video shows once again that Dimash is an absolute genius. In singing but also as an actor and as a storyteller. The powerful message conveyed by this video is more relevant today than ever. I think this video is mostly about the message. This message is for the first time more important than his vocal abilities. His voice is just the tool in this video. But indispensable and simply indescribable. His singing is indescribable and I don’t have the words to express it adequately. But it is only the mediator of what this video is about. This is so heartbreaking and sad and an awesome masterpiece. Pure goosebumps.

The girl on the beach was his future wife. And she gave birth to her second child in the video. The littel girl who was shot was Dimashs and her first daughter. Desperation has led him to kill his former friend. Dimash in the last sequence of the video was the baby that was born and now as a grown man unites people of different nationalities and religions for peace.
Btw, Dimash has received an Award from Pope Francis personally at The Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held in Kazakhstan on September 13, 2022. He performed the song there in connection with the congress before the premiere.

Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting.
Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself. The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information). In the MV, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through, as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers.
Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way.
The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war.
The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against?
The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht to end the war in April 1945. As a native German, I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed out buildings were women and children. The imagery of the denouement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and life are both sacraments and are interwoven. Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to revenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffet the pilgrims. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity.
The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.”
Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a spiritual guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage,race, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect.
Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time.
