My son is adopted. We told him from an early age that he was "chosen" to be our son. In his early twenties we helped him find his half brother. They are very close. This movie makes me proud that we told our son the truth. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to deal with the situation. Each family has to decide what is the right way for them. Loving the child is all that matters.
How wonderful he loves you you'll always be his parents no matter what n I'm happy to hear he has a brother and that they are getting alone n blessed with each other ..I'm happy for all of you .god bless.bsesafe .stay warm it's cold here in San Antonio..Irene c .n family

Wow wow wow. What a film. What a quality. Wonderful wonderful. There is nothing like this these days. What an act. Lie has no legs. It always fall & discovered. I enjoyed every minute of it. Unfortunately there are no film like this, these days anymore. This is classic. His real mom had a hurt feelings that he is her son and kept him in her home. We says “blood can never turn into water”, or “blood is thicker than water”. Thank you soooooo much. Loves & Blessings.

This movie really got to me with tears and this little boy find out who his real parents were and he didn't tell them face to face he just left a letter with love !! I wish the movie would end a little better by him telling them he is their real son, I love the movie and the kid was a great son !
Unbelievable performance, unbelievable story, heart breaking... When movies were real movies, when movie makers used to be real humans with art, not like today's.... Nowadays everything in the movie industry is fake and boring to the death. God I miss the 80s and 90s. 🌹🌹🌹
Wow, the guy playing Robert/Greg looks very similar to Patty's real son Mackenzie Astin when he was around that age! I love Patty Duke. May she rest in eternal peace! ♥♥♥
I cannot handle how beautiful this movie is and the effect that it has on me, even 30 years later. I watched it again today and burst into tears as Ruth was reading the letter... What I never noticed until today is that Robert put his address on the top of the letter, so it left me feeling like they would stay in touch.... and all that did was make me cry harder....
Stay in touch? There is no sequel because it would not be a happy ending. We’ve seen these sorts of stories play out in real life. At only 16 years of age, his biological parents would sue to get him back and the law and courts would be on their side. His “adoptive” parents would be crushed, and the poor lad would totally resent his real parents for breaking up his family.
@@westyraviz ... if you listen close & read between the lines, AND note that while "ruth" was reading the letter, she shook her head yes as she read that his "home was with them", but, mainly, all 4 parents love that boy beyond measure & they totally realize the decision was up to him. good, fair minded, unselfish, well balanced ppl like this do not rush to the law to make a big, painful deal out of something that would hurt everyone else!! yes, the real parents have questions that they deserve answers to. but, they are not going to do something to hurt the son their hearts are so welled up with love for. ppl with right motives & sound, propper judgement consider more than what cold "law" without heart says. a sequel could be very good, indeedy.
@@ohwhatelse She shook her head 'yes' in agreement that he shouldn't just stay with them and return to his family. Her saying yes is before she knew the real truth. I agree with the first comment that it would be a real life mess. They may not sue immediately but would want to spend as much time with him as possible and would want a say in his life. This might rub the adoptive parents the wrong way. Eventually, all road will lead to the courthouse. 😔
You have NO IDEA how hard I’ve been looking for this movie. Every time I watch it I’ll be a total mess for days. When I need a good cry this is my GO TO movie. Thanks for sharing this wonderful film!
@@RememberThiswithDeniseBoland Ditto for me. I'm a guy and the ending makes me cry. I watch it every year. With the loss of Patty Duke, this film has become even more precious to me.
I think that mother (Patty Duke) got the Christmas gift of her life. A few weeks with her son, who she lost years before, and to find out it was him all along and he turned out wonderful.
thank you for this absolutely BEAUTIFUL movie...i cried my eyes out..the end was breath taking...EVERYONE should watch this...100 percent clean family movie i give it 100 thumbs up...AMEN
i cried a lot,i cried for the boy,the mother who suffered from losing her child, and i cried for the adopted parents for loving and worrying if he@chose his biological parents, but so happy he choose the right thing which go back to his adopted parents who love him so much..thank u for sharing this..
Every child must be told he or she is adopted. My two cousins were adopted. They are so part of the family--absolutely. However, my oldest cousin discovered something after her adopted parents passed. She was never legally adopted. She was just taken from people in the neighborhood and given to her adoptive parents. No legal process took place. Her younger sister, however, was legally adopted. She did have a birth certificate. Incredible!
I watched this movie some time in the 80’s I’ve seen it like a hundred time’s even taped it! & now 2023 I’m watching it again ! I was adopted too & I can relate! Love it!!!♥️♥️🙏🙏👍
ALL THESE ARTIST AND ACTORS AND ACTRESSES WE LOVE YOU AND RESPECT AND APPRECIATE YOU ALL....THANK YOU, MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL THE WRITERS AND ALL OF YOU FOR SENDING A STRONG MESSAGE TO ALL OF MAN KIND THE POWER OF TRUE LOVE NEVER FAILS AND NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED!!
I agree. Every film, play or television series in which Patty Duke acted was leant a touch of excellence simply by her presence it. Even in her over-the-top role of "Neely O'Hara" in "Valley of the Dolls" (1967) Miss Duke was compelling to watch. Although, one may still not help but wonder how that film might have been improved had Judy Garland been in the proper mental and physical shape to have handled the role of "Helen Lawson" from which she was fired. Imagine how Duke and Garland, both girls forced to grow up too fast, would have been, acting in the same film together, especially in such adversarial roles. Just the sight of the girl who portrayed the blind "Helen Keller" skipping down the "Great White Way" (instead of the "Yellow Brick Road") with the gal who played "Dorothy Gale" would have been almost too much anyway. But Patty Duke was certainly excellent as Truman Capote's real-life cousin "Sook" in the 1997 Hallmark-produced, updated version of Capote's "A Christmas Memory," and no mean feat considering the role was originated (three decades previously, in 1966, on "ABC Stage '67") by the late great Geraldine Page. Other superb performances by Miss Duke were in the made-for-TV films "My Sweet Charlie" (1970, which netted Duke her first of three Emmy Awards) and "When the Vows Break" (1995), as well the title role in "Me, Natalie" (1970) and the big screen adaptation of "The Miracle Worker" (1962), for which Duke won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her reprisal of the role of "Helen Keller" she originated on Broadway. And amidst all those made-for-TV and theatrical films plus a few runs on Broadway, Duke also found time to appear on TV game shows ("Match Game," "Password Plus" and "Tattletales," the latter with then-husband, actor John Astin) and star in four sitcoms, the first and most fondly-remembered her eponymous early 1960s' series, "The Patty Duke Show," followed by three more TV comedies (all in the 1980s and each of them short-lived)--"It Takes Two," co-starring Richard Crenna, with a young Anthony Edwards and Helen Hunt also in the cast; "Hail to the Chief," in which Duke portrayed the first female president of the United States, co-starring with Ted Bessell (best-known as Marlo Thomas' boyfriend "Donal Hollinger" in "That Girl") in the role of the "First Gentleman"; and "Karen's Song." Plus, besides her professional life starring in about 100 films, four TV series' and with guest roles in dozens of TV episodes and even commercials when a child, Duke also authored three memoirs (including the autobiography "Call Me Ana"), had four marriages, three children and one very highly publicized romance (with Desi Arnaz, Jr.). Patty Duke sure packed a lot of living into a relatively short life of only 69 years. She is missed very much. m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BODQ5NjQwMzEtMzFmOS00ZGY0LWEzMGUtYTU5OGE0MWZlYWM1XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMzk3NTUwOQ@@._V1_.jpg
@@gymnastix I’ve followed Patty Duke’s life and entertainment life since Hellen Keller & the Patty Duke show right up to when she died. She was a terrific actress & human being. I felt bad when she suddenly died, like I lost a friend- she was able to reach many, many people thru her acting and mental illness - what she was put on this earth for. We all got short-changed when she died but learned a lot thru her courage & humanity.
This movie of Patty dukes will always be my favorite her son was kidnapped stolen really and then when he turned 16 he wanted to find out about his family cuz he found out he was adopted every time I see this movie the ending gets to my heart and I cry . the perfect movie for the holidays thank you Patty Duke for making this movie God bless you in heaven
I loved this movie when it first aired. Interestingly, Richard Masur also played the biological father on "Face on the Milk Carton," whose child (Kellie Martin) was also stolen and raised by another family. Two very good movies.
I've watched this movie hundreds of times since it was first aired in the early 90's. Never got tired of it. I memorized each line, LOL. The ending is so heart wrenching it never fails to make me cry. Each time.
I have watched it many times, too. I know this feeling. You have to process through it for yourself. No one else can do it for you. My problem was no one kidnapped me from my own family, but I had this thought at age 3 or 4 and it persists to this day. Legally changing my name helped a lot. Patty Duke made many TV movies like this, another one with David Birney, one with Ricky Schoder. They are all touching stories like this one.
That Dorff kid is a really good actor. He and the other actor really look like brothers. At dinner, his Dad said "Nice to meet you son", That must have been weird for him.
Excellent movie in every way thoroughly enjoyed it. It's most important to tell your children they are adopted in early stages of life, so this kind of situation & worse don't happen & everyone is spared a huge heartbreak.
Great movie!! Loved the letter he wrote which brought tears to my eyes. She doesn’t have to worry about him anymore. Love Patti Duke’s movies!! R.I.P. 💞
This movie was heart wrenching when it initially aired and has remained so each time I watch it again. What happened was so wrong and Robert had a right to know his birth parents.
This made me cry! I wish they had a Part 2 of this movie. I want to see this continue. I feel like its not complete, its complete in a sad way not a happy way!!
Such a beautifully written movie, with outstanding acting. Here's hoping this fantastic film will become more widely available, it should run every year around holiday time on some channel or other - Prime, anything. Thanks to Denise for making it available through RUclips, I just want to hug all the characters in this film every time I watch it!
One of my favorite TV movie from Patty Duke which is full of emotions and the drama of the young boy that coincidentally comes to stay with her son as a friend but there is more to this story. Boy, I truly loved how it ends for both of the families. I loved how one can get emotional even though I have seen this movie so many times since the day it first came out. I love all the actors in this movie and love both families how they love their children what a wonderful ending to a beautiful Christmas story.
I saw this movie like 40 years ago & loved it, It’s a great movie I even typed it some other time! I can relate to it since I to was adopted! Love it!🙏❤️👍😊
I watched this movie 28 yrs ago. I've always remembered it but never knew the name or the actors. Just today I thought of it and decided to do a Google search. Soooo happy I was led to this video. Yay! I'll never forget this movie moving forward. it made an impression on me 28 yrs ago and I'm so thankful to have found it again. Love this movie. ♡
Oh wow, I’m not the overly emotional type but the ending while she was reading the letter made my eyes fill up. What a well written and executed movie….!
Great ending. Just looking at the bigger picture. Forgiveness is the ultimate freedom especially when every heart knows its own sorrow. With caps as emphasis, a prayer of surrender to GOD using JESUS CHRIST AS THE MEDIATOR to urge the broken, wounded, empty, desperate and guilty to be mended, healed, filled rescued, and pardoned by HIM. On a balcony of space STEPPED A PURE AND HOLY GOD. IN AWESOME SOLITUDE YOU STOOD ALONE. Not one faint star to give YOU light; just endless darkness, it was blackest night. But somehow in the darkness YOU COULD SEE. YOU SAW mountains high and lofty, YOU SAW valleys lush and green. YOU SAW babbling brooks, and wildflowers grow, YOU EVEN HEARD a robin sing. Then through YOUR COMPASSION STANDING OUT THERE IN YOUR TOMORROW, YOU SAW forum's visitors, their families and friends. 🥰 YOU SAW them as sinners (missing the mark when aiming to solve a problem then creating another resulting in their weaknesses prevailing causing guilt of wrong doing) because there is no intrinsic righteousness in any of us due to Adam’s sin. YOU SAW them as they grew from a baby into adulthood due to YOUR HANDS OF MERCY. 🥰 YOU SAW them pursuing a career path for the purpose of obtaining the gains of the world not realizing that it is a loss compared to what YOU DID on the cross. YOU SAW them working long and laboring hard to receive justification by grace even though YOU stated, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."(John 6:29 KJV) YOU SAW the unwillingness to accept YOUR PLAN OF SALVATION THROUGH YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST. YOU SAW them living with the guilt of committing crimes to the heart. YOU SAW them enduring personal crisis. YOU SAW the weight of the burden on their hearts with each tribulation. YOU SAW them seeking comfort from the above mentioned topography, ONE OF THE MANY MARVELS YOUR PERFECT HANDS HAVE MADE. 👏👏👏 YOU SAW their worries about tomorrow. If their hearts were a window that they could look through, oh the pains and scars they would see. What a cruel fate the skin gives as a mask to the inward pain. But the skin couldn’t cover THE SUFFERING YOUR ONE AND ONLY SON BORED on the cross as PAYMENT for all our sins because HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE HAD THE MERIT TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR HOLINESS. Indeed, ONLY HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SUFFICIENT TO SAVE us from this present evil world as evidenced by Mary's song of praise. "And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." (Luke 1:46-47 KJV) Awesome thanks to YOUR GREAT PARDON for being easy on the heart. 🥰 They have seen a lot of crazy things done in YOUR NAME. For example, the father of lies futile attempts to make crooked the right ways of the LORD to turn people away from faith in the WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST ALONE. How can anyone bear the thought of his or her life story detracting from the GLORY AND HONOR KNOWN TO BELONG TO CHRIST ALONE? As a consequence, YOU ARE A MYSTERY OF GREAT MYSTERY to them. Despite this conviction, YOU ARE MINDFUL of them as evidenced by the fact that YOUR JUDGEMENT is not speedy, allowing them to pursue the desires of the flesh. They are aware of hypocrisy in religious assemblies that like to be seen and heard. In addition, secular education teaches that there is no right and wrong, if GOD exists there is no way of relating to HIM, and moral standards shift according to the whims of fashion. Therefore, their minds are conditioned to question everything this world has to offer including “THY POWER THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE DISPLAYED.” They have accepted the heavy burden of dealing with the troubles of this life and seek to know another way, YOU THE GREAT COMFORTER TO ALL who did receive YOU as their personal SAVIOR. Still, YOU have shown them NEW MERCY every day with each thought they make and each breath they take. Unfortunately, like the prodigal son, we are all guilty of wandering far from YOU LORD because the negative experiences of our lives tend to build roadblocks to the TRUTH. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them to identify the way, truth, and eternal life (that is YOU). Since to know and follow your SPIRIT is more exciting than any 007 movies, and YOU DELIGHT MAKING the ordinary into extraordinary. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST MAKE them understand that there is no way around YOUR TRUTH, and that there is something about YOUR NAME. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them defeat in their minds what is false in YOUR EYES. LORD GUIDE their thoughts to know that the path of sin is hard on their hearts for the purpose of crying out to YOU to know the joy, peace of having the heavy burden LIFTED by THE GOD OF PEACE I AM, and ANCHOR their souls in THE HAVEN OF REST. In other words, LORD use the storms in their lives to get a hold of them to trust YOU and believe. In truth, YOU ARE THE JOY that seekest them through pain. LORD HELP their fainting hearts to believe that YOU, who was slain on the cross over 2000 years ago has the POWER TO CHANGE lives today through the INSTANTANEOUS GREAT FAVOR from GOD to the house of Israel made known in believers by YOU to make YOUR NAME EVERLASTING. 🥰 For as the statue liberates the citizens so the cross liberates the soul. ONLY YOU can calm the trouble waters of the mind when one admits to wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, JESUS IS LORD, and believes in the heart that GOD RAISED HIM from the dead TO LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt away from the heart in accordance to YOUR WORD found in Psalm 51:1-10 KJV. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 O, the wonder of it all to experience within the flesh the feeling of a tree being cut back/pruned in order for it to grow stronger and more beautiful after meditating on the words of said Psalm. 🥰🙌 LORD MAKE them know that ONLY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, through the experience of a new birth within believers, can prevent the family circle from being broken because THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE YOU HAVE GRANTED means a chapter of their lives is decided. Creation sings the rebirth song for them yearly, through YOUR PROMISE of springtime, giving rise to the idea that by the mention of YOUR NAME flowers grow, and the desert blooms again. 🥰 LORD GUIDE their understanding of words to use to come into YOUR PRESENCE with an honest reverence of WHO YOU ARE to experience the beauty that time can't erase YOUR WISDOM resting on their faces. LORD STRENGTHEN their determination to never waiver in efforts to search for YOU because the wages of sin is too high for anyone to pay. Additionally, THE KING OF KINGS is needed in their hearts to learn how to expand their capacity to love for YOU are LOVE in any language. 🥰 Once they learn to speak it with boldness through YOUR WONDERFUL COUNSELING all the world will hear, and know that LOVE is the language of their hearts. So LORD, KEEP KNOCKING on their doors until they let YOU in to know hardships and struggles will end with a GREAT CELEBRATION WITH YOU. 🥰🙌 If one believes faith cannot be forced, YOU WILL GIVE that individual over to the stubborn heart to follow own counsel which will surely fail him or her to the extent that the punishment will last forever found in Psalms 81 NIV. Given this, I pray that YOU WILL MAKE that person see that this feeling is wasted for a world in which we become strangers as we age, gives us thrills instead of peace, aims to solve a problem but creates another, and unrest surges with each passing generation. Shed some light into their broken hearts for YOU ARE THE GREAT JEHOVAH, THE GOD THAT HEALETH thee. Lastly, LORD when they call on YOU in earnest prayer to come into their hearts to be born again (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life), I pray that YOU WILL GIVE them the blessed assurance of their salvation because nothing breaks YOUR HEART, or tears YOU apart like when they cry from the trials of the devil who comes to slander, falsely accuse, steal, kill & destroy. Only by drawing nearer to YOU LORD will put them on a path to a glorious one way trip winding upward to YOU where pain is not welcome because the heart will never break anymore. For ONLY YOU UNDERSTANDS our tears since YOU LOOK at the heart, while humans look at the flesh. O LOVE that will not let them go. When they don't have the strength to try, and have cried all they can cry hear their hearts that need YOU more today than yesterday. Many thanks LORD for speaking TRUTH in our lives TO BLESS those who are not offended by THEE. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE because YOUR LOVE ALONE CONQUERS everything by WAITING for them to cease struggling, and finally surrender to YOUR EMBRACE to learn about YOUR LOVE AND PROMISE TO TAKE CARE of your children exquisitely. 🥰 Since... "at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore"... (Psalms 16:11 KJV), and the nail print for them to know YOU by answering the following question. How did CHRIST LOVE people into a relationship with HIM? 🥰
As an adopted child ,this movie always moves me.I was lucky ,my adoption was legal ,and I had two (My dad is no longer with us) ,of the best parents anyone could wish for.II never had the urge to find my birth mother ,it was only when I grew up and had children of my own ,that I realised just how brave and selfless my biological mother was.She had me in later life ,so I`ve no idea if she`s still alive or not.I honestly wish (as I was told she hoped to keep me ,but couldn`t ),that I could tell her what a happy life I`ve had ,and could thank her for the part she played in it.Had she not given me up ,I`d never have had the mum and dad I adore.I now now how it feels to carry and give birth to a child ,and the strong bond that occours ,right from the very moment you hold your baby.I`ll always love and cherish my family ,but ,there will also always be a special place in my heart for the wonderful lady who loved me but chose what was best for me ,not her. Wonderful film ,thanks for sharing..
I too was adopted at three weeks to parents 45 years older than me; although my adoptive father died tragically a few years later due to cancer, my adoptive mother was a treasure who raised me to know just what really mattered in life. She died when I was only in my thirties and shortly after my fortieth birthday I became sick. Mine was a closed adoption but I asked members in my family to contribute any information they had. A close cousin, concerned for my health, disclosed that in fact my mother who raised me was my great aunt and this admission set forth a chain of events that were both informative and traumatic. I am glad you had a good experience but sadly this isn't always so in all cases.
after reading your message here.. i felt so uplifted and i could imagine how my adopted son would feel about me as i love him dearest and i would die for him.. his bio-mother died last week ... but you are one good child who appreciate the people who loved you dearest regardless of biological or not... gos bless you ... ( i felt bad for people who adopt kids and be left alone later after the kid found the real parents...)
+Cynthia ,I`m so sorry to listen to your experiences.I know I was extremely lucky with my adoption ,and not everyone is.Did you eventually discover more (blood) relatives?I hope you are in better health and feel more settled as regards your upbringing. When I watch programmes on such very young mothers ,especially 50/60 yrs ago ,it breaks my heart how harsh society ,and their own families were towards them.Mostly ,it was impossible to keep a baby then ,or demanded of you from those you`d think would be the most supportive.Thankfully ,times have changed ,I couldn`t ever imagine one of my girls getting pregnant ,and not doing everything in my power to help ,,,them..xx
+jojo c....it literally breaks my heart when I hear of adopted children finding their biological parents ,and then ,ignoring those who chose to love them ,nurture them and have them as their own.It works both ways.I`m so very lucky ,as my mum (adopted) ,has always said if I wanted to trace my biological mother ,it would be with her blessings. She is as wonderful a lady ,as I know my birth mum would have been.Circumstances were as such ,she had no choice but to give me up ,hopefully to a family who`d love me ,as mine have done.I`m sure your son thinks about you ,as I do my (bio) mum ,on birthdays especially. If he`s had as happy a family life as I have ,I`m sure also he`ll be grateful to you for being brave and making that choice for him.xxxx

I've always loved this movie... This is how I met Stephen Dorff for the first time, and he's a great actor...
David Birney has always been a hugely talented actor.
I too love how they left the story open....love Patty Duke and the roles she undertook--sure do miss her talent.
Yeah i was thinking too... what if robert put his address...then ruth find him.
I'M NOT A CRIER ! Patty Duke, you are such a great actress, I always believe your part! I AM IN TEARS! ! ! ! !
A classic Christmas movie. One of my faves and watch it every year since it first aired around 1990. Patty Duke is great as is a young Stephen Dorff.
They got me all the way up to the end, now I'm crying!
Will never forget the ending. Patty duke was an amazing actress. If you don't do the ugly cry you are not human.
Oh boy, I choked up when she came to him telling her who he is 😭 such a beautiful movie 💕💙💙
This is now my favorite Christmas movie. ❣
This was always one of my favorite movies- so Happy I still have a chance to see it again-what a tear jerker!
Yes a great movie indeed .
The way she said I'm proud to call you my own not knowing that's literally her baby her son
I cried like a baby when she read his letter
😰 yeah
I cried Too,
You have NO IDEA how hard I’ve been looking for this movie. Every time I watch it I’ll be a total mess for days. When I need a good cry this is my GO TO movie. Thanks for sharing this wonderful film!
You are very welcome. It is a favorite of mine too. I watch it every December and have a good cry myself.
@@RememberThiswithDeniseBoland Ditto for me. I'm a guy and the ending makes me cry. I watch it every year. With the loss of Patty Duke, this film has become even more precious to me.
Same here
The name PATTY DUKE means the film will ALWAYS BE GOOD.
Jim Britt Yes!!!!!!💯💟
yes i love all her movies..especially this one..tear jerker
A lovely move It was a grate move I was a bite sad but I enjoyed it thank you for sharing
You right
Yes
Great movie and great acting, it should have a part 2.
Incredible!
Damn i cried at the ending a very touching story 😢
Me2.:(
I watched this movie some time in the 80’s I’ve seen it like a hundred time’s even taped it!
I was a senior in high school when this movie came out and I cried like a baby at the end. Now, 32 years later I had a meltdown at the end!
I love Patty Dukes movies..a great actress..may she R.I.P
And amidst all those made-for-TV and theatrical films plus a few runs on Broadway, Duke also found time to appear on TV game shows ("Match Game," "Password Plus" and "Tattletales," the latter with then-husband, actor John Astin) and star in four sitcoms, the first and most fondly-remembered her eponymous early 1960s' series, "The Patty Duke Show," followed by three more TV comedies (all in the 1980s and each of them short-lived)--"It Takes Two," co-starring Richard Crenna, with a young Anthony Edwards and Helen Hunt also in the cast; "Hail to the Chief," in which Duke portrayed the first female president of the United States, co-starring with Ted Bessell (best-known as Marlo Thomas' boyfriend "Donal Hollinger" in "That Girl") in the role of the "First Gentleman"; and "Karen's Song."
Plus, besides her professional life starring in about 100 films, four TV series' and with guest roles in dozens of TV episodes and even commercials when a child, Duke also authored three memoirs (including the autobiography "Call Me Ana"), had four marriages, three children and one very highly publicized romance (with Desi Arnaz, Jr.).
Patty Duke sure packed a lot of living into a relatively short life of only 69 years. She is missed very much.

When did she die??
I was fortunate enough to meet her in person many years ago at my local mental health center...she was a sweet down to earth lady.
I vividly remember watching this at the time and cryin' my eyes out. Love Patty and Joan !
Wow! Fabulous movie!
Wow I’m reading the comments like I haven’t cried yet and starting tearing up 🥲🥲🥲🥲
This movie of Patty dukes will always be my favorite her son was kidnapped stolen really and then when he turned 16 he wanted to find out about his family cuz he found out he was adopted every time I see this movie the ending gets to my heart and I cry . the perfect movie for the holidays thank you Patty Duke for making this movie God bless you in heaven
A beautiful and good movie ❤
Anna Duke is SO adorable and LOVED!!💖🌟💝
I loved this movie when it first aired. Interestingly, Richard Masur also played the biological father on "Face on the Milk Carton," whose child (Kellie Martin) was also stolen and raised by another family. Two very good movies.
I've watched this movie hundreds of times since it was first aired in the early 90's. Never got tired of it. I memorized each line, LOL. The ending is so heart wrenching it never fails to make me cry. Each time.
Lol..I am like that with the movie, About last night with Demi Moore and Rob Lowe!! I LOVE that movie, I know EVERY WORD!!🤣🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
It is definitely high drama on the order of a Greek, Shakespeare or operatic tragedy.
LOL😊
Insomnia is terrible
But watching the same movie can cure it
Eventually boredom sets in and the zeds come
That Dorff kid is a really good actor. He and the other actor really look like brothers. At dinner, his Dad said "Nice to meet you son", That must have been weird for him.
that dorff kid omg..lol
They really should have made that sequel for this movie I enjoyed it I didn't like the ending
Great film. Would love it to come out on blu ray
I loved this movie the first time I watched it... I'm so glad I found it again...
Love it!🙏❤️👍😊
An absolute heart-breaker.
If it doesn't get to you when she reads the letter, then you are made of stone. Wonderful movie. Thanks for posting.

Omg! I can’t with that ending!😭😭😭😭
I saw this movie years ago and always wanted to see it again. This must have been one of Stephen Dorff's first roles. His performance was very moving.
Must have seen this at least 6 times and I always cry at the end
I love this movie. I watched it a lot of times. Makes me cry a lot though.
This movie very warming great story bring tears to your eyes Thank you!!!
Oh wow, I’m not the overly emotional type but the ending while she was reading the letter made my eyes fill up. What a well written and executed movie….!
Me too....
I cried too 😢
Me too, every time!
YOU SAW them as sinners (missing the mark when aiming to solve a problem then creating another resulting in their weaknesses prevailing causing guilt of wrong doing) because there is no intrinsic righteousness in any of us due to Adam’s sin.
They have seen a lot of crazy things done in YOUR NAME.
LORD MAKE them know that ONLY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, through the experience of a new birth within believers, can prevent the family circle from being broken because THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE YOU HAVE GRANTED means a chapter of their lives is decided. Creation sings the rebirth song for them yearly, through YOUR PROMISE of springtime, giving rise to the idea that by the mention of YOUR NAME flowers grow, and the desert blooms again. 🥰
LORD GUIDE their understanding of words to use to come into YOUR PRESENCE with an honest reverence of WHO YOU ARE to experience the beauty that time can't erase YOUR WISDOM resting on their faces. 🥰🙌
If one believes faith cannot be forced, YOU WILL GIVE that individual over to the stubborn heart to follow own counsel which will surely fail him or her to the extent that the punishment will last forever found in Psalms 81 NIV.
TheHappyheart77 You're so nice.... God bless you.
