For me this is the whole point of RUclips - in less than 10 minutes you learn how to do something that’s too embarrassing to ask a mechanic how to do and too hard to figure out from a book without making stupid mistakes. Love it.
Thank you will I'm glad you found it helpful good luck with the oil change if you have any issues drop a comment on here and remember there is no such thing as a stupid question we all have to learn we ain't born with the knowledge Thank you for your comment it's appreciated
Thanks pal, bought all the gear to do a service, because I’m a tight arse. I Drained the oil off then Hunted for the oil filter, couldn’t find it for love nor money. Until I watched your video, never seen a oil filter in a plastic housing before. Normally one of those metal can/tin filters. Thanks for tutorial, you’ve just gained a subscriber.
I'm a little late coming to this video, but a great job of explaining how to do a oil service. Thanks for the tip on how to turn off the oil service light.
There is no mistakes ... as long you can repair it.... Very complete with great and clear instructions for the reset. and tools. Great video mate cheers
Honestly, thank you so much for these videos - i have the exact same transit i think (2008 110hp FWD) and finding videos on various repairs and servicing is so difficult - i guess because there are so many variants. The only help i've had with mine so far is the Haynes manual - and that only gets you so far.
@@Thediycarchannel Just one question - where is the release valve for the coolant system? In the book it says it on the right (from drivers view), but can't find anything there. On the left there feels like a valve of some sort but it doesn't turn.
Thanks for that. I might even service the works van. It's great knowing the brake/accelerator thing, thanks for that. wishing you all the best.............
Check oil capacity, expected 7 L to drop not 9L. Sump sizes vary!!! My van 2.4 diesel 2011 ( ex minibus ) RWD. I needed a strap for plastic housing removal. Socket just slipped !😮
I haven't serviced the 2.4 unfortunately so I can't answer this sorry. There shouldn't be much difference if there is maybe just the oil filter location if anything.
That's not good at all Jim someone was obviously an idiot and over did it. Silly question maybe but you are turning it the right way ? I e anti clockwise
Great vid mate. What do you do with the old engine oil? Can you do a video on replacing the fuel filter. I have a 56 plate transit with the same 2.2 duratorq engine in it.
I take it to the local tip and poor it in their tank Mine has been changed just before I brought it but I can have a look if it's cheap I will change it
Mate. I got a transit mk7 12 plate. I want to change the oil and filter on mine as the mpg has dropped like a mofo. An issue I’ve had since I’ve had it is sometimes when I crank it over it’s not going to start but on the third try it always starts. It’s kind of embarrassing when you’re outside a customers house ready to pull away. Any ideas would be appreciated. I’m in the Black Country too.
Have you given it a full service i.e fuel filter, air filter etc ? I would definitely look a the fuel system pargi I had a similar issue I did fuel filter and it the process found a small air line crack it was leaking fuel but sucking air once I changed the fuel housing it was fine. It did happen again lol but I couldn't find the issue and a garage found it it was a faulty fuel filter housing again it didn't last long that's why I didn't suspect it the second time Do fuel filter first but they can be a knightmare bleeding not sure on your experience but may be a garage job they really are fussy. After that air filter and so on
@@Thediycarchannel I’m quite happy to hand over cash if I walk away without the issue afterwards. I had a full service last year but id like it to be done again. Was thinking of having a go at the oil change myself this time and get it in the garage for the rest or just take the oil I want to the garage and ask them to put it in. It’s just putting your trust into a mechanic. I could do with one that lives and breathes transits. My miles per tank has gone from 490 to a tank to 400. In a touch worried to be fair.
Great vid thx....j.ust emptied mine as thought i had 2-3 litres too much in - above max on dipsick and small leaking around gearbox/crankshaft. But actually had 5-6 litres in which i believe is about right (6.72lt capacity).
Hello mate, I have bought a diesel filter. But has been thrown off changing it due to air locks. Am I better off paying a garage to change the diesel filter
@@Thediycarchannel Not knocking you, just saw it and thought that some people are so unused to working on vehicles it could be worth mentioning.. used your vid to check on the change and it proved useful for the oil filter location. Cheers.

I have moved from there now I'm in Wales now

Bonjour bien la vidéo, je souhaiterais savoir si vous avez remplacé le joint du bouchon de vidange svp ?
Cordialement
Sorry I dont understand

No worries thank you
Did you manage to sort the ESP, ABS and brake pad lights? Mine are on and no codes coming up and it’s doing my head in. Cheers
I can't remember if I'm honest it's been ages ago now sorry I can't help
I felt your pain when the filter cover fell in the oil.....we've all been there, it's a ''FFS!' moment.
Yes it is a massive ffs moment and I'm saying in my head again 🙄🙄
Thanks for the video, very well explained.. 1 question, I have the same van, how many letters of oil does it take to fill roughly?
No worries. If I remember right it's around 6litres ish maybe 6.2l but it's definitely around the 6l area

@Markmckwn no worries mark
Thanks for the videos keep posting them
That's no problem
I will do
Got a few things to do on the van just passed mot today but got advisorys so need to fix them

I haven't serviced the 2.4 unfortunately so I can't answer this sorry. There shouldn't be much difference if there is maybe just the oil filter location if anything.
my oil filter housing started to chew up using the 27mm socket
No idea why unless it's a different design
@@Thediycarchannel it’s because the thing is on so tight no matter how much force you can create the plastic at the bottom starts to miss form.

Hello, how many litres of new oil for 2.2 TDCI 2009?
I'm not sure Petru there is a Castrol oil capacity and grade check online

Is this a FWD 2.2?
Thank you and no worries. Yes it's the fwd 2.2 was a 59 plate
Was the sump plug cross threaded, didn't see you put it back in ?

It depends on your confidence
Shouldn't cost a lot a garage as it's easy to get to
