Please post an in depth video of how you wire the bus! I never see any in depth videos that show how to wire the plugs, inverter etc. That would be so AWESOME and helpful. Most videos people are too vague. Thanks. Love you're videos.

unless you put foam under and around the edge of the bframework or actually use liquid nails or bodysealer to gleu the frame down to the floor it will probably creak or rattle a little during traveling , i agree that you dont need to put screws through the floor but it does need sumting to prevent it moving around
as for the gaps around the foamboard , stick some right stuff expanding foam in there

This is the 2nd video that I've seen today. I had to subscribe. Never owned any type of RV, bus or anything like it. Thinking of buying my 1st one. Trying to understand the magnitude of what's involved if I buy a bus because I'd have to hire someone to do everything except the decorations, which is all I want to do lol. He's a huge help, enabling the viewer to understand the depth of what's involved. Thank you for this video. Enjoyed watching them removed the seats and wiring; that was my 1st video.

    Hi!
I love that you are pedantically accurate!
The conversion might consume much more time, but you are not letting faith decide over anything, when the bus is done, you know exactly, what ist where and how it's done.
(And you filmed a lot of things so you could watch back what you've done.)
I sat for a one hour to cut a special flexible long lasting stitch with a seam ripper because I saw, where the needle went not 100% straight in line two times. Only to make the new seam in less than a minute (then perfect).
Hubby said, no one will see it, just leave it as it is.
    Noooo.... 🤪
But after that I saw you and Luke putting in the floor and I feel normal again. 😂

2x2's would have been my choice for the sub-floor, it would cut the thermal break in 1/2 of what the 2x4's are. There is no good reason I can think of to use a 2x4. Also instead of running 2x4's from side to side, I would have run them up the center on either side of the walkway. To provide more protection to the foam board. They would also act as nailers for any walls or cabinets being put in, instead of just attaching things to the 3/4 plywood flooring.
The dog house that is not going back in could have the back/bottom cut off it and attacked to wooden "cabinet" you are going to replace it, assuming it has mounting hardware built into it, this might make it easier to fit it back up to the bus

We are about to start the subfloor on our bus, and had basically decided not to put down 2x3 framing at all. (Just liquid nail the plywood subfloor to the insulation). That would avoid the thermal bridge problem entirely. Love to hear your thoughts on whether that's a good idea.

    • @navigationnowhere
      @navigationnowhere  4 года назад +1

I have seen it done before and I considered it myself. If you get the right foam board it is made to have a high compression rate so it should stay strong without sag. My issue was that the flooring was thin aluminum so I am kind of also using the 2x3’s to support the plywood off the thin metal (so it’s catching the steel beams for support. If you have a big bus, the steel floor is more than strong enough and has no flex.

I am curious about would you have preferred the same style bus in a 6 window instead of a 5 window? If not , why not?

Question, Why paint it red to just put flooring on top?

I have seen most people completely ripping out the floor and there is rust underneath … was this not the case?

I would be interested to know if when you are finished if you get squeaking in the floor because you didn't liquid nail the 2x3's down? If your way works would save probably 100 bucks not to use the liquid nail.
