    I had always wondered about the RP-500M but there are almost no reviews on this speaker. I really enjoyed this one. The singing made me LOL for almost a minute. I think this had got to be one of your best videos so far. Keep up the great work!

    I just ordered these from Crutchfield for $299 w/ free 2 day delivery.
    I know very little about hifi but I have wanted a really nice pair of speakers since I was in 6th grade, so 1992. I had a buddy Tony in class who brought in his older brother’s stereo catalogues and we drooled over them during class. “My brother’s got Nakamichi stuff”
    he’d say - meanwhile I had no clue who they were.
    First song I will blast through them will be the one I’ve always said to myself, “Someday if I ever get really nice speakers I want to hear this song through them.” And that song is: The Happiest Days of Our Lives by Pink Floyd.
    So excited for this! I’ve leaned a ton from your channel in the last few days. Thanks a bunch, Sauce Boss!

    After trying a couple different set-ups I settled on the Klipsch RP-500M speakers paired with a 10” Klipsch SPL-100 subwoofer. Powering them with an Onkyo TX-8270 stereo receiver. At retail prices this speaker-sub combo would run close to $1000, but with enough shopping around I was able to get the speakers and sub around $700. Sounds great!

    I just bought brand new rp500ms for $279.00. The famous dip in midrange crossover is exactly what I like. It kept me from needing an equalizer to deemphasize midrange exactly where I always want it. That area of midrange is unpleasant to more than a handful of people. It's commonly unpleasant to people. Many people I know have always turned down midrange in that frequency area. I am not into big band music but I knew it would test the speakers about trumpets, trombone, tuba , piano etc you don't hear in rock music and they sounded fantastic. It made me wish I liked big band music. If people do , they will love the original rp600ms and 500ms. I know because I have both of them myself. They sound great playing big band music. Horns , violins , piano etc sounds great on them.

    I bumped up from the RP-400M to the RP-500M and what a difference in sound! The midrange is certainly more apparent and at least in my setup/room the soundstage is so much fuller. I was not expecting that much of a difference in sound, but i was amazed at the difference!

    I have these and the tower version (RP5000f) and I really like them. I haven’t yet heard anything that places performances “in the room” quite like these smaller/midsize Klipschs do. The tower version does a great job at adding the bass extension that the bookshelves are missing a little. However the bookshelves are incredibly easy to pair with a sub. Both are great and I’ll be keeping them for a long time.

    The best speaker reviewers are also great music reviewers. Haven’t listed to Metallica in decades, but, man, you sold me (on Metallica, not the Klipsch). I don’t really dig RUclips “product reviewers,” but again, man, you sold me. Probably because your channel is really *about* something. And on top of that, you do excellent shout-outs to great organizations. Really good work.

It’s all More than enough for me anyways. 4 Rp140 atmos speakers and Dual svs pb3000s to top it off. Marantz 6013 receiver for now. Would like to go to a dedicated processor and another external amp for the small speakers eventually. Keep up the great work man! You’ve helped me put it together along the way!

    My personal Rp500MII update: They are better than the 600MII. The smaller woofer integrates better with the tweeter than the larger 600MII. Cleaner overall. I'm using a pair of rp500MII as my HT surrounds, I'm using the other pair as desk top speakers powered by the insanely good for the money SMSL DA9. Since I got the 500MII on sale, I just created something like "The sixes" for a fraction of the cost. They do sound better than the fives. Also have a 15" sub with them. Crystalline sound.

    Great review & I appreciated the eq tips for the midrange. I just completed an Reference Premier Series surround set up starting with the RP 8000F towers. I considered the version 2 of these that just came out last year but the original version (I think it came out in 2018) being half the price & virtually the same in specs made me go for the original. I saw a comparison video of these and the version 2 side by side with various music blasting away. Obviously it didn't help me listening to that on my phone speaker but I still did notice one subtle difference that the reviewers (Pacudah I believe) pointed out - the midrange at times in particular with vocals. Sounded slightly more "opened up" & less bright. Just slightly though...and tbh for my taste (always liking the U or V shaped EQ sound, one of the reasons I went with Klipsch) that difference at times made me like the original half priced version better, but sometimes the V2 Sounded a teeny bit better. Sounded so slight to me I thought I could just tweak the midrange frequency eq a bit and then there would be minimal or much less noticeable difference to my ears. I believe the only changes to the V2 include a slightly larger horn, an extra port in the back for the tweeter, and a tweaked tweeter crossover. Actually spec wise the V2 bass went up from 32 to 35 hz. And they may have added some bracing inside the cabinet. Otherwise no difference to them. Without having both side by side however, in my small listening area too where I normally can't blast it like Pacudah did, I am just thrilled with how much better the 8000Fs sound in every way, including midrange, compared to what I upgraded from (11 yr old entry level Polk TSI 400). I doubt I'd really feel any better about what I'm hearing if I paid twice the price for the V2. Especially if the only subtle audible difference could be minimized with some basic eq tweaks like you mentioned. I just ordered the other original RP surround speakers, these RP500M bookshelves for rear surrounds, RP500C center channel & RP500SA Atmos. Had I opted for the V2 towers I would have been inclined to get the V2s on the surrounds, each also about twice the price. So overall the difference is more than I'd need to get a new TV (holding off on that now though, I must stop the spending for a bit lol). I had Polk T15 bookshelves for rears (and the RP500Ms came today) so I will be doing what I did with the 8000F and do my own side by side comparison - when I did this for the towers, it was a night & day difference so I believe the same will be the case with the bookshelf speakers "battle" I have today. The Polk TSI center was very solid (CS20) so not sure how much of a difference the RP500C will make (comes tomorrow), but I imagine it should also sound better - at the very least due to the higher sensitivity helping make dialogue a bit clearer & louder. I also made the mistake of getting the Klipsch R41SA Atmos about a month ago but am returning those & getting the RP500SAs tomorrow as well. Maybe no difference will be heard with Atmos speakers but I prefer having the surround speakers all be in the same series. I am also getting Outlaw amps just for these giant RP8000Fs to give them more juice for 2.0 music, which also frees up my AVR (Yamaha Aventage A2A) to give more juice to the center & rears + atmos when using home theater (5.1.2). Only thing I'm not going Klipsch with is the sub, I recently upgraded from a Polk "boom box" sub PSW505 to SVS SB3000 that blows it away, and blends in perfectly with the Klipsch. Most music I listen to is 2.0, another reason for the 8000F was their bass being more than enough for my taste in music. Home theater a different story of course with LFE so the SVS is used there with crossovers of 60 hz for the towers & 80hz for the rest. Access to all of these reviews on line including yours has been a huge help for me to make a decision & start enjoying a much improved listening experience, without detailed reviews like yours I'd probably still be in Analysis Paralysis mode.

    I can't imagine getting bookshelf speakers that aren't powered. The Klipsch RP41s even have an internal DAC and the remote has sub volume control. The speakers raise their own crossover when they detect the sub and send a low pass signal to sub set at full range. Perfect for my little man cave/game room. The living room gets the four-way Klipsch towers, DAC and receiver.

      Price/performance, active speakers are the way to go and probably the way of the future. Bi amped internally with perfect pairing of power per driver and active dsp (some do crazy eq that doesn’t change phase, only amplitude). My cheap JBL 305p are amazing at my desk. Think I’ll have to try them in the living room.

    I use the discontinued version (150m's) as surrounds in my home theater and the ypao room correction from my Yamaha avr boosted the 500 hz range a bit and lowered the 2000 hz range, I found I actually preferred keeping 500 hz a bit lower and boosting the whole 1-4k range a bit. It's a little awkward because they are the nicest thing in my house now. Me and the rest of my material possessions feel out of place, but the speakers sound great. All the mid (vocal/drum/guitar/etc) detail you could ask for packaged between well mannered but very capable highs and lows. I’m considering upgrading the front speakers that came with my Klipsch “home theater in a box,” pack with something a bit higher performance. I’ve watched reviews (mostly on this channel but elsewhere too) for pretty much every speaker in my price range and I’m torn between these RP-500Ms and the Fluance Signature Hi-Fi. I have a sub so super low bass response isn’t really an issue, and the way my room is setup I can’t really get my fronts more than a foot from the wall.
    Looking for something capable of doing double duties as the fronts in my surround setup for watching movies with the kids, but could also serve well for 2.1 music listening which would be mostly vinyl or CDs.
    Any thoughts on RP500M vs. Fluance?
    I’ve been watching this channel for about a year and REALLY appreciate your efforts to demystify this whole hobby and bring it to the people!

Do you think a 35W per channel amp would be enough for these speakers? I like to listen moderately loud. • @SPLSPECTRUM

      I'd use a minimum of 50W per channel, if you like loudness music. But this depends of your ambient too. In a 3x3m space, 35W per channel can be enough, considering the 93db sensitivity.

    Ports, when done right, are tuned to the woofer, and the box size, and improve and extend the low bass produced by the speaker, as well as improving the sensitivity, so it will play louder with less power

    Crutchfield currently has these on closeout for $299. I am looking to integrate these into my system by replacing my polkaudio SS 5" shelf speakers with these. Due to space limitations, I'd have to put these sideways on a shelf unit. Do you see any problems with that? I also only have the older more traditional speaker wires in my older Denon unit. I assume these are compatible with the older tech? I predominately listen to records via a Technics SL-1900 with a Ortofon 2M Red. My thoughts are that I would eventually upgrade all the polkaudio speaks to Klipsch. BTW, I do have a dedicated sub. Thoughts?

    How does they sound with Playstation 5? I have Klipsch R-50M and system sounds of PS5, especially opening and closing menu tabs, sounds very harsh, sandy, unpleasant. I want to move them to surround position and buy some new front speakers, RP-500M would be great but I would like to make some progress with sound quality, especially with such high tones like PS5 menu produces :D

    • @2HatHudders
      @2HatHudders 3 года назад

      @@tomsteger1 I like them, I have these and Elac debut's. I have them paired with the Willsington R8. On the 4 ohm tap, less music goes through the horns compared to the 8ohm tap, so they aren't bright. Compared to the elacs, Ill say they are clearer, more punch than the elacs (on the tube amp because they are easier to drive as being more sensitive) I havnt paired them with any of my AV amps just yet so I presume there will be more bass from the SS amps. Elacs for are alot better in sound separation and imaging but they require alot of current especially for the bass notes. Personally I don't think they are bright at all, they are slightly upped in treble but in a good way. If you have a tube amp, honestly can't go wrong. Good at low volumes too! I do think the Willsington R8 even at 25 watts is too much power for the klipsch, they are very sensitive.. can even hear the internal beeps of the cd player through the speakers !

      @@2HatHudders Interesting your comments vs Elac debut. Can I ask do you have the Elac debut 5 or 6 and are they the original or mark ii? • @2HatHudders
      @2HatHudders 3 года назад

      @@robertmarshall7712 hi Rob, I have the Elacs 5.2 mark 2. It really depends on your system. The Elacs mark 2's treble certainly doesn't lack but I havnt heard the original. Cheap audio man has compared the two, MK2 was more held back compared to the MK1. The way he described the Mk1 sound , it sounded more fun especially in the imaging department. I'd look at another speaker personally, the MK2 might be too similar to the MK1. the Klipsch really do much does have better clarity and sparkle. Might be a good alternative to swap out with he Elacs from time to time? I will say, since then I have paired the Klipsch to my Sony av receiver and I didn't like the sound at all. Just didn't fit, high treble, nice bass but mid range lacked so much I didn't listen to much more than 10 mins. My tube amp does push mid range, so the Klipsch sounds very good on the tube. Thought I should mention that.

    I moved away from home theater about 10 years ago, but I am considering getting back into it.
    In your opinion and experience, what bookshelf would work best for home theater? I am mostly concerned with dynamic compression and drivers crapping/bottoming out during loud peaks during a movie. I sold HiFi for just over a decade and I know Klipsch generally had better dymanics, where speakers like Sonus Faber and Vienna Acoustics would crap out WAAAAY to early (I refused to sell them because they just gave up too fast).
    Thank you in advance.

      I have a full RP set up. 6000fs, 250c, 500ms and the spl100. It does a great job for home theater. I’d probably recommend a different sub for the price like an svs, rhymik or hsu but for what I got I’m pleased with it. Very dynamic, for what it is, it hits pretty good down low and it didn’t break the bank. I just wish the sub dug deeper than 27hz. If possible getting a sub that plays down to 20hz is most recommended. Definitely need to hear before you buy though. The mids are a bit scooped compared to other speakers which works well for intelligibility but it’s not as full sounding for music depending on your tastes sound wise.
