- Fed up and down to the wire after 25 years in the corporate world, UK-based Shami Kalra decided he needed to make a change in his life. Drawing his passion for Motorsport, he creates racing-inspired watches for his brand, Omologato.
The watch designs drawn on inspiration from racing liveries, fonts and legendary teams and require a story to accompany the timepieces. Gulf, Matini, Sir Stirling Moss are among a few of the points of inspiration for Omologato, which was launched virtually overnight in 2015.
The immediate traction he has seen since beginning just over a year ago has surprised not only himself, but also his friends and family. He credits this to reseting his direction and following his interests.

I just started collecting watches and I'm absolutely in love with motorsports. So when I found omologato watches with all the liveries and designs of the races and cars I grew up watching I fell in love. I want one of every single watch this company makes. It's my goal now. I was at school with Shami I remember he was well into cars then gushing over my Fathers Audi 200 GL5E.

OMG - did he really put the gas cap onto the paintwork of his Porsche's bonnet/hood?
They have a leathery flap that folds out onto the wing for you to place the car on 👍🏻(usually)

Really cheap looking watches - and with the most recent Salzburg design, it's a complete and direct copy of a Porsche Design watch. I don't mean it's similar - it's exactly the same. I honestly don't get the attraction. Praemio, I thought higher of you than this weak brand affiliation.
Paul, thanks for the input, although I'd hardly peg Omologato as a corporate-sized entity at this moment.
Taste of watches is subjective and this episode was not about that; it was intended to convey Shami's ambition to make a fundamental change in his life and follow his passions, whatever those may be.

Omologato Watches I don't 'keep shouting', I made one comment on Twitter that spoke of the blatant copy you've done of a Porsche Design watch.
I respect you going in search of your goal, I just think your designs would be more successful if they didn't copy what others have done.

Omologato mate these watches are so special. My father got me hooked on watches and cars. “ life is short have the car you want and the watch you want” his words not mine. I love the James Hunt watch and I only just found out who John Surtees was because of that watch.
