I just cloned my laptop's sata to an nvme 2 days ago myself and had the same issue. After a bit of testing around I wanted to open safe mode, and before selecting it, my laptop just restarted by itself and began working. Quite an experience to behold.
@@SalemTechsperts a lot of times after we make a clone the first boot freezes at the windows loading screen. After a hard shutdown it works normally. (I have also learned to not ask too many questions)

@@SalemTechsperts and by the way the ssd you load in safe mode... It won't happen to you if you plug it into a rig and install the drivers . After you install the drivers once, you can use it to clone without any problems whatsoever. It's only happens when the drive is new and never been used. So plug it in to a rig and take it's virginity... Then it'll work for cloning.

It actually a bad idea to use alcohol on a screen, it's actually possible to damage your screen if you do. When cleaning a screen using a microfiber cloth and distilled water works best.

I have this same asus laptop and actually put it through a crazy thorough clean last week! New ram, new thermal paste, lost every case screw, and applied new tape to the screen.... as the front plate pealed off years ago... along with about 30 other problems were not going to talk abt. Look she works and now better than ever and that all I need! Lol
Coming from a technician...it's not the end of the world if one or two breaks....most of the time it's probably due to the plastic being old and/or crusty Other times they snap because of "improper" technique or just shitty tools....in which as you go you'll learn how, how much, and where pressure is to be applied to open the case without much damage

He wants to treat his customers right, even if it means he doesnt get paid every time he shows up to the shop. Hes told me because of that, customers will want to come back. He's honestly the only reason why i have any snapon tools. So if i were near you, i would definitely go to you for repairs

5:05 I tried to fix my laptop by ordering a new frame since the old one was broken. I riveted the old keyboard to the new frame, but it ended up sinking. Worse, the entire motherboard got shorted-probably due to broken traces or microfractures, since the old frame was bent and bent the motherboard too, and putting it into the new, straight frame caused further damage. It was a cheap $350 HP laptop, and the replacement frame without the keyboard cost $30. After wasting 3 hours trying to fix it, I ended up salvaging the drives, throwing it out and buying an ASUS TUF for $800 instead.
Your videos inspired me to take a look at an old laptop we have sitting around. Dell Inspiron 1440. The battery, hard drive, RAM, and wifi card are all accessible and removable without any screws!

1:47 Fun fact, 70% isopropyl alcohol is actually better then 99% for most things. The water slows the evaporation, allowing it to stay on the surface you're cleaning longer. The water also helps to dissolve stuff, as well as improving the anti-bacterial qualities of isopropyl. It does this because the water helps to penetrate the cell walls, allowing the alcohol to kill the microbes quicker and easier. And while isopropyl is better at dissolving some things, water dissolves a much wider variety of things. So unless you're cleaning the PCB directly, you'd generally want to use 70%.
And I thought the ball cheese on that last laptop was impressive. EDIT: For those people that ask why you don't just melt the plastic... you've clearly never had to do it. I had to do that on my brother-in-law's laptop because he didn't get the whole top panel and it is absolutely a PITA, and it often doesn't last.

That Asus Strix ROG was the same laptop I had since 2018. Back December 2024, it won't turn on after a week of rest and I relented to upgrading to a newer pc. It is a great piece of hardware that I was able to do clutch work and gaming with it. So long partner.

Great vid! Having to boot into safe mode just because it needs to use a differrent storage controller driver is a windiws annoyance that I wish they would fix. Doesnt matter the brand... if you go from sata to nvme it needs a safe boot first to detect the change.

Replacing riveted keyboard sucks. Super time consuming, they feel off, usually don't sit right so one part ends up higher or lower that the rest, and chances are it's gonna snap off the rivets since they're weakened already, so warrantying it is a pain.
from what I noticed about Dell desktops and laptops. the newer systems, the BIOS is set to RAID by default regardless of what drive you're using. since the laptop you upgraded had a m.2 ssd, it probably didn't have the nvme/raid/vhd driver (whatever it is for this device) and when you cloned it over, it wouldn't boot. I have a coworker that likes to switch the BIOS to AHCI. what I've done, remove the old drive and connect it to an external, connect the new m.2 nvme drive then boot the device off the external. Windows will see the nvme drive, if not i'll have to download and install it, then reboot and clone the original drive to new drive and then boot from the new and it should work.

I use an ROG with a 6th gen i5 and a 1060 (6GB) as my daily driver for streaming YT to my TV (no ads that way) and it's a great laptop. I used to game on it 6 or 7 years ago!
Also, if you did sit there and melt the keyboard free youd likely have to buy the complete replacement part and melt the keyboard out of that one too (unless they reused a keyboard from a non-fused product.)

Yeah, not 99% Isopropanol. I think a lower % is fine but idk if 70% is too high or not. I'll probably personally just use screen cleaner for my new pc monitor.

Don't be scared to open your PC! Just be patient and watch plenty of videos. As for supporting me, honestly just watching the videos is enough. And of course becoming a member helps, but only if you have the financial means to do so!
The internet will never agree on what's best. Those bad experiences come from people that either used way too much 99%, sprayed it directly on the screen, or scrubbed way too hard. Yes, if you have a touchscreen, it CAN rub off the anti-glare / anti-fingerprint coating if you use too much too many times. I can say as a repair shop owner that uses 50-70% on thousands of laptops and monitors, including my own, I have never had any issue with coating coming off, streaks, smudges, melting, or any other issue that apparently happens to the rest of the internet.
@@SuperFlawless2010I just use a screen cleaner. I was shocked to see 99% iso directly on the screen. It’s just cheaping out. Stingy. Screen cleaners are much more expensive than 99% iso, but you really need to use them. Iso is not the one for screens.

i recently started a job as a technician and opening up these laptops without breaking the clips is a terrifying process for me.
You’ll never get it perfect. Some of those clips are so old and weak they break if you breathe near them.

Yeah, not 99% Isopropanol. I think a lower % is fine but idk if 70% is too high or not. I'll probably personally just use screen cleaner for my new pc monitor.

Don't be scared to open your PC! Just be patient and watch plenty of videos. As for supporting me, honestly just watching the videos is enough. And of course becoming a member helps, but only if you have the financial means to do so!
im curious what is bad for wiping down a screen because i thought alcohol was bad for the screen as it can destory a layer of the screen.
The internet will never agree on what's best. Those bad experiences come from people that either used way too much 99%, sprayed it directly on the screen, or scrubbed way too hard.
Yes, if you have a touchscreen, it CAN rub off the anti-glare / anti-fingerprint coating if you use too much too many times.
I can say as a repair shop owner that uses 50-70% on thousands of laptops and monitors, including my own, I have never had any issue with coating coming off, streaks, smudges, melting, or any other issue that apparently happens to the rest of the internet.
I’ve been using a mix of 25% rubbing alcohol and 75% distilled water for over a decade. It has served me well

@@SuperFlawless2010I just use a screen cleaner. I was shocked to see 99% iso directly on the screen. It’s just cheaping out. Stingy. Screen cleaners are much more expensive than 99% iso, but you really need to use them. Iso is not the one for screens.
