Personally, I think Englund’s idea of new kids hearing of the legend of Freddy Keueger and the monster manifesting in different ways has the most potential and interesting ideas. I’d love a new entry exploring that concept.
As the kids these days say “a They fumbled the bag.” 😒
Sounds kinda like "Into the Freddy-verse"
Yeah, you'd love that until you realize Robert Englund obviously wouldn't be playing the part of Freddy..
Sounds like that Batman: The Animated Series episode
Rhe concept is too close to IT
That one where the kids grew up on stories of Freddy and now they all have their own different versions of him sounds like a good idea.
On paper, maybe. But when people realize that Robert Englund obviously wouldn't be playing the part of Freddy in this version, they'll flip!
Stigma He could still play *one* of them if his problem with playing Freddy is the makeup. In fact, if the plot leads these Freddy’s to merge into a new one at the end it would be an excellent way to pass the torch.
Unfortunately Stephen King’s IT (2017) was such a big hit. The film would probably be seen as a rip-off of that film series
@@ReelNinja1 That too, obviously. Despite the fact that IT in itself is basically a mash-up between Nightmare and Goonies..
Stigma not exactly. Stephen King wanted to write a monster like Frankenstein, the Wolfman, & more so he created Pennywise. Nightmare on Elm Street didn’t influence the novel
That second idea by Robert Englund with each character having different interpretations of Freddy honestly sounds really great. I'd have loved to see that film.
Without Robert in the part? Don't make me laugh
Stigma How about this, in order to get Englund involved, the studio that gets the rights use his kids interpreting him differently script idea, (they’ll of course have to ask him to write a new treatment based off that idea) and Englund will only be asked to be *one* of the many different dream reinterpretations of Freddy. With this approach they could get a bunch of different people to play the role, they could even get back Jackie Earl Hailey for a kid that has a much idea of what a sexual predator is and have Jackie embody Freddy as murderous pedophile. Obviously he’s need to look differently since that “more realistic looking burn victim” look wasn’t as menacing.
@@Popcultureguy3000 Nah, it would be jarring.
Sounds like the "Freddy-verse" or the "Freddy-matrix" or something like that..
It's a bad idea and everyone would agree upon that, if it hadn't come from Robert.. That just makes people blind to how stupid that idea really is.
Nightmare certainly doesn't need to be reinvented, they tried to do that a decade ago with disastrous results.
They need to conclude the story with one last goodbye to Robert and Heather in their respective roles, that's what fans want to see. Not a dumb gimmick..
Stigma It just doesn’t make sense to me that a Dream Demon or Dream Ghost would only have direct control of his incorporeal form. He should be subject to how the dreamer subconsciously views him until he gain a unified image of what he is “supposed” to look like again. I actually think this “different forms for different dreamers” approach can work now that we have the distance of time from the original, thus allowing this plot point to act as meta-commentary on long-running franchises and their ultimate longevity if rights holders allow their properties to start to lose their identity. Or something along those lines.
Just watch IT or read the book, same thing
Must admire how the cast were throwing ideas out there. Shows how much passion they had for the films.
The courtroom Freddy based on the original killings WAS MADE. It was the original episode of Freddy's Nightmares.
I like the idea of people that he's killed coming back as 'force ghosts' to help stop him. Also the different interpretations of him would be cool
That wouldn't work. The Dream Demons had already seen to that. The only way to truly get rid of Freddy Krueger, is to somehow drive the Dream Demons out of him...and THEN kill him!
@@ronaldshank7589 Not really you can kill Freddy in many ways, he just won't stay dead. They could always invent new ways to Kill him, despite how he got his powers. The thing is, though, the only thing that can truly kill Freddy is low box office.
That Peter Jackson “Dream Lover” concept sounds incredible. Shame that it never came to fruition.
Can we pull him away from documentaries and get this green lit?
With Englund not wanting to don the make-up anymore his idea of everyone interpreting the character differently could work in a reboot. I do also like the idea of "the dream police" seeing the victims come back to try and stop Freddy once and for all is an interesting concept.
It was not just Robert England (damn autocorrect) that said “Ehh hard pass” Kane Hodder (who played Jason Voorhees) basically said “ I would love to play Jason, physically I can’t do this anymore”, and Bruce Campbell saying hard pass to play Ash from Evil Dead, (Check the book that was used in Jason goes to Hell, {hint: It was indeed The Necronomicon}) So any Freddy vs Jason sequel would have to include Ash from Evil Dead. The closest things are the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash comics.
@@sawtooth808 The times of both stories do no match up from Jason and Ash and nobody wants to see that
Englund said he would do one more.
When they make a new one they need to cast a new unknown actor, so people won't have as big expectations.
The concept where Freddy appears different to each kid actuality seems really interesting and a great way to highlight the nature of urban legends
That reminds me of Pennywise
Candyman
Yeah that's an it story
Little too close to _Candyman_ to do it now without cutting some kind of deal with Clive Barker.
The alternate Freddy’s Dead movie sounded really good... I’d love to see everyone reunite even if they are dead but still intent on fighting back
@Ryan Stewart The actual "Freddy's Dead" is an abomination that did not need to be made, IMO! "Dream Warriors" is a classic though. I just made a review/analysis of it: ruclips.net/video/rfXDhtkobkQ/видео.html
I read the script for the original idea, it wasn't amazing, but it would have made an alright movie and would have been a decent ending for Freddy. His death in the Dream Police script is far better than the one in the actual Freddy's Dead.
Kevin Bacon would be great in that role. He proved he can be terrifying in Hollow Man
Don't forget him as Guard Nokes in Sleepers. He showed he can be evil to kids too
Plus there's The Woodsman.
He would be good, the guy from the Remake was too short to be imposing.
Yes I think he would do a great job actually, especially if he was already interested in the roll.💯✌️❤️
Honestly, a found footage version of Friday sounds pretty sick. It could definitely make Jason come off a lot creepier with the POV perspective. Although I get how it could get too many comparisons to Blair Witch and seem like a half-hearted trend-chaser of a movie
How would you even do found footage of people's dreams? What would the justification for that be? The technology to record dreams is just in its infancy and it would still require an observer to be awake and operating the system in the real world, safely outside Freddy's direct influence.
Could be an interesting way to reincorporate the Katja Institute, maybe even bring back Charles Fleischer-but how could it be made to work?
Would love to see Wes's version of *"ANOES3: Dream Warriors."*
@tyrone kinard The novelization is it's own story. It has nothing to do with Wes' original Dream warriors script
@tyrone kinard In the novel? yeah, probably. But not everyone dies. kristen lives.
Also, Wes' script was *not* used in the novelization
You can read the script online. I can't remember the site but it's there as a pdf. It's far nastier than the film that was released. I think it was the basis for the book which most have been released before the film came out.
Ye, but Wes is dead now.
Fun fact am I right?
I would of loved the noir detective nightmare 3
I always wanted to see what would happen if Freddy entered the dreams of a young serial killer whose mind is so twisted it traps Freddy.
Yess.. Dahmer meets Freddy
@@kwho Nahhh. They're on Dahmer overload right now.
You could call it _Fred Gein._
That's brilliant Fred gien haha 3:54
Damn, that Jackson Elm Street sounds incredible.
I often think about it, and if Clive Barker could have worked on the franchise. One of the saddest things about the Nightmare franchise is all the missed potential with the premise.
@@pleaserewind295 Oh shitballs. That would be awesome.
I agree. I can somewhat envision the movie.
It could work, but it doesn't sound super-special, it sounds like a good plot but more just another sequel plot that would be cool but nothing mind-blowing.
I can't even lie, that dummy jumpscare, freaked me out as a kid. It looked so unnatural the way it got took inside the house
I feel bad for Jackie, he was very good for the role but the role wasn't written very well for him.
Likewise. The man did a brilliant job, given the shite he was given to work with. I'd have no problem seeing him reprise the role if a better script could be put together for another reboot.
Jackie Earl Haley was awesome. The cgi Freddy makeup was trash.
He was perfect in theory..he played a really convincing pedo in another movie..so bad it made me feel super creeped out. I thought he would make a great dark version of Freddy..but we are all to used to the lighter funnier version..not to mention the Jackie Freddy makeup was awful
"Time travel within dreams that broke all the rules of dreams"
So basically Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance?
I love New Nightmare; i remember seeing it on tv quite a bit in the late 90s and being fascinated by the meta concept.
META-Facebook
Imagine the Englund script with each different version of Freddy being the "look" of each Freddy with his persona from said era. It would be a 'nightmare' to make but it would be an amazing way to get Robert to do a last one while he is alive and able to. It would never happen, but different Freddy characters is an amazing idea since he had so many sides to his personality.
I’d like to see a reboot where Freddy wasn’t the original child murderer but they used the quiet loner as a scapegoat, their fear and belief tainting his soul in death and making him want revenge...have him being defeated by reminding him he loved the children of springwood or finding the real killer (Jason’s mother deciding if she can’t have a child nobody can maybe, just for the FvJ nod) and passing on or something...
...the mob justice part of the story just always bugged me, especially as usually when mob mentality is in place they attack/condemn the wrong people
That’s why I think the Reboot missed a big opportunity with this exact idea
I LOVED that idea, but weren't they implying that the real killer would live on to commit more crimes while residents blamed it on an urban legend (based on their lynching victim)? When it comes to horror movies, I prefer the paranormal kind, so I wouldn't have wanted the supernatural element of the story to be written off like that.
I agree and it would explain a bit of a plot hole in the series. Freddy kills kids (it's also implied and then said that he's also a pedo) and when the parents kill him he...takes his revenge?
It makes no sense. Yeah, you could say that he's so evil that even in the retribution for his wrongdoing he's going to seek revenge. Yet, that always came off as a bit strange to me. Just make Freddy innocent. That gives incentive. Parents essentially lynch and burn an innocent man and that man THEN gets revenge on their kids via nightmares. It then explains why the parents are always such morons in each film - they killed an innocent man and know it. That gives incentive to NOT want to talk about him or believe that THEY created this monster.
Also, a few of the ideas floated in this video aren't bad. The Englund and Jackson takes were good, IMO. Also, the Saxon idea was a bit much but taps into the notion of an innocent Freddy.
DannyWilliamH Best comment
@@risottopose9970 And it's even worse seeing as they basically doubled down on Freddy being an awful person, I'd *love* to see a more sympathetic take on Freddy
The teens having their own interpretations of Freddy would be a good basis for Freddy
You do of course realize Freddy wouldn't have a shred of personality in that scenario, right?
Stigma His personality would form based on how people keep telling the story of him after each kill. You really lack a creative eye, Stigma, ya know that? Throughout this whole comment section you’ve been trying to convince everyone this approach would be a bad idea for one reason or another, but the truth of the matter is that _you’re_ the fan that has trouble accepting new ideas and new actors, and you always have been.
Stigma No, he’d just have the personality imagined by the teens
Yeah and a good basis for the movie......It......🙄
@@MajorPaign More than one movie can have this kind of monster, don’t be a party pooper.
Robert Englund's idea of the monster manifesting in different forms in the imagination of children is perfect for the future of the franchise. It would give him a way to play the character one last time, then give birth to different characters that COULD be cool, too. It's a great concept.
You'll never hear me say Freddy wasn't important. Robert Englund's portrayal of Freddy always made me happy. But the real story wasn't exactly Freddy imo. It was a monster attacking you in your dreams. This could be multiple monsters to be honest, but one just took the form of Freddy. There could be more and it would be awesome to see. Personally anyway.
Thanks for the video!
I just wanna see Nightmare on Elm Street make a comeback. Freddy Will always live on in my eyes. Love You Robert 🙌🏾 Hopefully you will give an approval for someone new. Or maybe Cameo 🤞🏾
The main reason why the remake flopped big time is that they changed the look of freddy too much. It just wasn't freddy (anymore). And the fans were pissed that they turned him into a child molester instead of a child killer.
That makes hella sense. I was a teenager when it came out in 2010. I felt that way as well about the appearance and the storyline they gave him. Even though I never admit it outloud. I agree I didn’t like it myself. I know they can do better. I wish some how some way They can Revive NMOES.
@@tommyboyraider3555 yup after part 3 the whole horror concept was ruined. the movies became more comedy than horror. I still think to this day that part 6 wasn't the ending this franchise deserved.
If Robert is still around by the time they make a new one, and they will eventually, I hope he plays one of the parents burning Freddy, that would be funny.
They need a a younger scary guy with a point bridge nose like Robert Englund
Which of these unmade "Nightmare" movies do you wish had happened?

Matt Draper Max Landis also tried to pitch a slasher crossover movie with Freddie in a very prominent role. According to him he actually got everyone onboard for chucky, Jason, Michael Myers, and Pinhead to be in it but couldn’t get Freddy which the pitch just doesn’t really work without.
Englund's idea of different interpretations of Freddy depending on a person's idea of evil. Sounds radical and it could still work today.
I think The early Kills would/could be a really good movie if done right.... especially with how big cold case and court case movies/series are nowadays.
Mine.
A good one
I’ve always loved Robert Englund’s idea of different versions of Freddie. You could have England play his light hearted one, Jackie Earle Haley play a darker version, even perhaps have Johnny Depp play a version for cameo appearances, and another unknown talent to give it a try too. Would make for a great story, final hurrah for Englund, and a way to reboot the franchise with someone knew in a film people like, going forward.
No way. Depp as Krueger? Way to ruin it.
@@TheVAULTofHORROR Tbh how his career is now, I think he’d go for it. Plus it was only an idea, so you don’t need to get upset.
@@TheVAULTofHORRORyou seriously support the one who caused depp to lose his career?
The "prequel" is called 'No More Mr. Nice Guy', the first two episodes of Freddy's Nightmares directed by Tobe Hooper
Honestly, I’d kill to see Jackson’s “The Dream Lover”. It sounds awesome.
This was great. Dream Warriors is my favorite in the entire franchise. I had no idea about any of these alternate ideas for the sequels.
The rejected plans for Freddy's Dead sounds infinitely better than what we got. It would have made more sense to bring back characters from the past for his 'last' film. Also really sad we never got a sequel to Freddy Vs Jason. It was a fun film for what it was.
if memory serves, we were never going to get a movie sequel to it, and that in fact the ending we got was supposed to be open ended because neither side of license holders wanted their character to be the loser (original script showed Freddy as winner if I remember right). Honestly I think we were lucky to get what we did, there was also a comic sequel to it, with Ash and Evil Dead in it as well.
@@MagnaNoctua The first Freddy vs Jason vs Ash comic was based on the film script, which was the sequel to F vs J. Talks with Bruce Campbell broke down(he wouldn't do the film unless he got to kill Jason & Freddy for good) so the film was scrapped.
I hate that they killed off Nancy
@@mrsuns10 yeah i would have liked her to live. But she at least went out better than legacy characters in other franchises.
The Freddy courtroom drama sounds like the Freddy’s Nigtmares episode that was made in 88
It was the pilot episode titled 'No More Mr Nice Guy '
Ricardo and it was great lol
I was going to comment on that. I remember that episode.
It was directed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Tobe Hooper as well.
The Freddy’s Dead concept breaks my heart cause it sounds so good
I think they should make a sequel to New Nightmare, and go FULL META with it:
Have the story take place after Craven’s passing (maybe have him killed by Freddy) and have the funeral contain every cameo possible! Bring back Heather Langenkamp and Johnny Depp! You could even bring back Jackie Earle Haley and poke fun at the reboot. Hell, bring in the cast from Scream too! Have them come to Wes’ funeral and everybody praises him for what a genius he was.
Have the plot be that now that Wes has passed, Freddy plans to escape into the real world again and that the only way to keep him trapped in his world is to write another Freddy movie!
Robert Englund could play Freddy one more time and also play himself talking about how he wants to retire the character and pass it onto Kevin Bacon. THEN you have a Freddy kill Englund and take in the form of Bacon while he continues on his killing spree! In the end, Freddy’s defeated, and they continue making Freddy movies. This could be a really clever transition to maybe start a new reboot series with Bacon in the role.
I love this!
Can we open with Johnny Depp in court, nodding off while the lawyers drone on?
Suddenly he is startled by the scraping of steel claws.
The judge, jury and lawyers are all frozen like statues.
Nobody moves except... Amber Heard, who's razor-sharp fingers flay the skin from her face revealing the burned visage of an old friend in a red and green sweater.....
Peter Jacksons nightmare 6 has always been high on my movies i wished happend.
Nice video, in anticipation of Halloween season.
I did not even know some of these unmade sequels were planned, so thanks.
Saludos.
Bro Peter Jacksons idea of freddy being an old frailed shell of his former self and getting bullied by teens ( meta on how the series lost its darkness and edge ) dude I would be down to see that shit lol . And then freddy coming back more evil and darker then ever , with a joke or 2 here and there
@Brandon Brooks danggggggg I would want to see that
@Brandon Brooks like an lsd fueled nightmare , more intense and horrific as far as psychological trrror
Those themes are kinda in New Nightmare already, where Englund playing himself talks about them watering down Freddy and killing the series, but also plays the more evil darker version.
Frankly I think they should have continued the New Nightmare canon and have a sequel also set in the "real world".
@@colliric New nightmare isn't freddy tho , that's a demon manifesting in the form of Robert englunds freddy and for me and allot of other fans it didnt work... I'll take it for what it is but Craven did Meta wayyyyyyy better in scream . People want to see THE freddy krueger , not some demon variant in a meta movie
@@markpatjoebilldinousar1111 it's the second best film in the series and you know it. Lol!
3:08 you said Dokken right!! While I really like Dream Warriors, Englund’s idea sounds cool. The different versions of Freddy sounds cool too, reminds me of the different versions of Pennywise the kids in It see.
I’m sure many have said this before me but damn...

Do it NOW!!
Please!!!
I second the idea, people underestimate how consistently good that franchise is compared to other horror franchises
I'd be interested in seeing Matt's take on it. The CP franchise suffered the same fate as NOES in that the villain became progressively goofier and shock-comedy overrode the horror. Even the Netflix sequels are pretty terrible. I love Brad Dourif, but that's a franchise that needs a serious enema. And the new one, while interesting from a theming standpoint (what happens when we create an AI that desires companionship only to reject it), ultimately it fell flat.
Looking forward to seeing what you have coming for the month!!

Initially I always felt that the ending with Freddy pulling Nancy's mom through the front door window was what Nancy's mom was dreaming when Freddy killed her. I feel that Nancy's mom was Freddy's target throughout the entire movie and that most of the movie was her nightmare. The scene with Nancy in the hospital bringing freddy's hat into the real world from her nightmare never made sense. An inexplicable phenomena occurs, something that has supernatural elements to it in a hospital surrounded by doctors and nurses and everyone just writes it off as a "whatever". There was something more going on between Freddy and nancy's mom.
Great video matt on these unmade nightmare on elm street sequels.
Love this series, thanks for posting
I Heard New Line Cinema was Rebooting the Series Again Robert and Heather said They Would love come Back to Play their Roles again Since Halloween 2018 was A Big Success at box office it was Announced that Another film was in the Works due to success of Halloween.
We need a new Nightmare with Heather and Robert

I'd love to see the makers of It Follows bring us a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie. It Follows had a great dream like quality that would bring some class to the franchise.
I’m wearing a Freddy tee shirt today. Before I had seen this. I love Freddy. This horror series is my favorite
The idea of Nancy becoming a guardian angel in dreams, to counter Freddy as the dream demon, was used in a licensed comic series.
I can't wait for what unmade sequels you'll cover next October. Fingers crossed for the Halloween series.
My god, Peter Jackson's idea for 6 was BRILLIANT.
I would have liked to have seen the one with the LSD. I mean, come on...Freddy a punching bag for every stoner in Springfield? That right there is Freddy Krueger's hell.
Nice vid mate 👍🏻👍🏻 had no idea about some of these
I'm hoping with the refreshment of Halloween, they bring back Heather Langencamp for a direct sequel to the original and ignore everything that came after
(even though Dream Warriors is my favourite in the franchise)
Yea any future nightmare needs to have Heather and Robert in it
Robert Englund should return using some de-aging or voicing Freddy. They should go with the plot of him being weakened and the teens making fun of him. Only for him to refind his mojo. That was a great idea.
Hey Matt, just a suggestion: maybe do Mark Gruenwald’s Squadron Supreme for your next comics video? It’s such an underrated gem even among comics fandom.
I second this idea.
*Note: they started the trend of "killing off the main killer" technically. Since NO ONE thought Friday 4 (7 years prior) was really the 'final chapter'
Matt Draper I think it's an extreme disappointment that Peter Jackson's script was not produced, I think his concept was brilliant.
Worth mentioning is that Freddy's Dead had a direct sequel in the form of a comic called "A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Beginning" that focused on Maggie having dreams of her father; it was supposed to be a 3-issue comic, but the 3rd issue remains unpublished. Also, there were a series of comics that supposedly took place between Dream Child and Freddy's Dead, Nightmares On Elm Street, which also featured the return of Alice, Nancy and Dr. Gordon.
As much as I would love for Robert to come back, I think studios need to respect his wishes and just cast someone new already.
He's said on multiple occasions that he was done putting the makeup on. Yet somehow they always talk him into it again.
Cast a new Freddy, and have Robert cameo in the new film.
They did that and it sucked.
@@jeremyschmidt7163 Alot of fans think Haley was actually decent with his performance. I think he would be a great new Freddy. The problem was the movie around him, it didn't seem like many people on the set cared much.
Bring back Jackie Hayley he was the best thing in that bad movie.
I think a prequel style film that showcases freddy's initial crimes and death, then jumps forward to when he's The Nightmare and terrorizing people in the dream world would be really awesome. I think it worked really well for Rob Zombies first Halloween. (Let's not mention his attempt at a second film)
Just watch the TV series that dedicate two episodes to doing a prequel that does just that, lol.
Well they could the same as in the series with a much higher budget
Robert Englund and Peter Jackson’s movies actually sound really interesting
Damn! I really wish Peter Jackson's The Dream Lover would have been the Part 6 of the Franchise instead of the Dumpster Fire we got with Freddy's Dead.
The developers of Stranger things should make a tv series of this.
That'd be dope asf
Nah we have enough shows of movies now, that ruin things
Season 1 was the only good season
Don't Forget Tuesday Knights;
"Running From This Nightmare".
so sad to see this video cause it hits me with the reality that that there will not be a new series of freddy and jason anymore, too bad they weren’t creative or even brave enough with the remakes and try new things and basically just made reboots in hd and somehow even less creepy in many parts then the originals
Seeing as the world is obsessed with franchises and interconnecting film series' they just need to make a Freddy, Michael Myers, Jason, Leatherface, Chucky crossover where they're all in hell and Pinhead gives whoever gets the most kills in one night the chance to return to earth. Just make it completely insane and have outrageous death scenes.
I always hoped they'd make the one where Nancy was basically the goddess/guardian of dreams and Freddy's equal.
I'd love to see Kevin Bacon as Freddy. Especially if one of the Nightmares involves Graboids.
Bruh, F13 fans shat on you for making fun of the franchise? That's so silly. I'm an *enormous* Friday the 13th fan, but 60% of that is because I love making fun of it. They aren't exactly well-written films. Give me a break.
Looking back, some are just terrible but they were good at the time
They really aren't well-written films at all, and the continuity between the F13 films are horrible, which is mostly due to them being corporate studio-driven films for Paramount to make a quick buck.
Most slasher films aren't well-written all films must be held to the standard of the film type they set for themselves, both Jason and Freddy movies are slasher films meant for special effects and killing. The only differences between Friday and Nightmare are Nightmare has fewer boobs and more plot, with killer who has more personality. For example, you don't go into a slasher film or Jason or Freddy movie looking for writing on the level of Godfather. As for making jokes about them, it depends on the jokes and how you are presenting them. If you are laughing with the series that's fine, however, if you are laughing at the series trying to make it seem like you are above a slasher franchise then you are just a film snob that can't enjoy films like Nightmare an Friday that are only meant for Horror fun entertainment.
The Nightmare movies were qualify films for the most part. Even the bad ones still have some imagination to them. I watched the Friday movies as a kid to see boobies. Now I can see boobies with a simple Google search, so they’ve lost a good deal of appeal.
Some of these ideas actually made it into other media, such as Nancy being a dream guardian in one of the comic series
They should have gotten into dream police, DHS, and a Dream Queen.
The multiple interpretations of Freddy from the kids is the best. And if people want the classic Freddy there could be one of their parents who was actually around to experience Freddy during the 80s, being the Freddy we know and love.
the elm street comic series from innovation was the best-unmade sequel. nancy returned as the keeper of the good dream, assisted by the souls of the deceased dream warriors. Alice and her kid return. Freddy has a girl helping him in the real world like Jesse in part two. it basically should have been part 6 tying everything up from the first 5 movies
I just binge watched all of your reboot videos while playing Overwatch, thank you good sir.
I’m actually planning on watching the original Nightmare on Elm Street soon. I find it interesting how these horror franchises have so many sequels and so many cancelled projects. Great video and I have to ask if the Elm Street sequels are worth watching.
Thanks! I think 2 is interesting, 3 is a good sequel, 4 is very flawed, 5 is bad, 6 is horrible, New Nightmare is good, Freddy vs Jason is whatever, and the remake is completely unnecessary.
Matt Draper Thank you
Matt Draper I mean that’s the only rational opinion isn’t it??
I don't know about movies but a Nightmare on elm street video game in the style of telltale games or until dawn were your choice and actions effect the story, plus it allows Robert to play the roll again
Dude I just bought the first one at Walmart I love this series. And i cant believe I never heard of your channel! I love your channel you got a new sub.
I remember hearing years ago that Robert Englund was interested in doing another Freddy VS Movie. This time he wanted to take on Michael Myers. I had an idea for a Nightmare On Elm St movie. My take you would not see Freddy right away in this movie. It would be a slow build up
There was a Freddy in hell movie idea that was going to get made but that pretty much got halted thanks to Little Nicky. Yes, you heard that right...a Sandler movie stopped the chances of a movie about Freddy in hell happening.
The way Jackson had kids choking themselves to faint and fight Freddy was really cool
Just watched the holy franchise this week and ...wow! Dream Warriors is my favourite!
Interesting to note, he was called "Freddy" in the first film. Though everyone else called him Fred or Kruger, only once do we hear Kruger himself refer to himself as Freddy when "Tina" says to Nancy at the door window, "Nancy, save me from... then cut to Robert saying the line "Freddy." as he removes Tina's face to reveal his.
Don't forget in a dream sequence where Freddy corners Nancy in the boiler room. He says "come to Freddy" before she wakes up by burning her arm on the hot steel pipe.
That wasn't "Tina", it was "Marge".. Ronee Blakley's face and voice
Yes it's about damn time DOKKEN Gets some love for dream warriors thank you...
Awesome video! Very well presented. It's a shame a Nightmare on Elm Street didn't have more inventive sequels. We are literally talking about dreams and dream logic. You could take that anywhere and you don't have to follow *all* the tropes of the slasher genre. Dreams are a place of fear and wonder and the later films really failed to capitalize on that.
Still wish we could have Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. Would be so badass...
You missed some of the unmade concepts for Part 5. It's hard to recall them offhand but there was an article in Fango at the time that went into them.
7:48 It was actually written in 1999 by the Final Destination writer Jeffery Riddick who was a hardcore fan of the series pitched the studio a prequel and they wanted it to compete with Jason X - both films would be side projects while Freddy vs. Jason was in development. And Jason X would take place in the future while A Nightmare on Elm Street: First Kills would be in the past. Also 8:22 is false. The real reason why it was shelved was that the studio wanted Adam Sandler (🤦) as unburned Freddy instead of Robert Englund to gain more success but due to their recent film also starring Adam Sandler, Little Nicky (2000) being a huge box office and critical failure, the idea of "First Kills" was... killed.
Adam Sandler ruining a potentially good movie? Figures. 😞
Original Nightmare, Dream Warriors, New Nightmare ... 🔥🔥🔥 my top 3 too ...
Hah, I did my own rewrite of a reboot a few years ago just for fun - maybe I should send it for consideration! lol.
I would make a nightmare movie where freddy possesses a school therapist,He would convince the kids to him their greatest fears, and freddy goes into their dreams to kill them in his classic creative but horrific ways.
They should have ended the franchise after 3 honestly.
Yup!
Yeah. Nancy dying but in her last moments holding Freddy off in the dream world while Neil killed him for good in the real world by burying his corpse and putting him to rest destroying his soul in dreams was a great ending.
I think 4 was the best possible ending for the franchise.
@@SteveRudzinski 4 wasn't bad. But 3 was far stronger imo.
No cos then new nightmare and Freddy vs Jason wouldn’t have happened!
"We may just see Freddy waiting for us..."
I can only hope!
I like the dream police one. I also think they should sort of remake the concept from Freddy vs Jason where people forgot about Freddy but then slowly remember.
I'm so fucking onboard with the idea of Kevin Bacon taking over. I can't imagine a better actor to take over for Robert, let alone with his blessing.
The version of him being weakened would have been a pretty good idea honestly
Plus it would be Peter Jackson a very creative director. I doubt it would be bad.
Freddy looks hilarious in the 2010 remake
Dream Warriors is the best one.
