  • Likely the hardest via ferrata in the world. Extremely exposed, mostly overhanging, with many technical parts and special elements on the route. According some sources it has the grade F. It requires a lot of strength and moral to climb it. Such was the via ferrata Extraplomix located in Gran Canaria Island in Spain.

    stupid question, but what happens if you take a full fall and have your absorber fully deploy, how do you finish the route? Is there a way to reload the cord? Do you just continue and 'solo it' on a partially dynamic set? (partially dynamic from the bungee cords? )
    Please @ me in the response so I see it
    Thank you

      If your absorber deploys it’s ripped and you can throw it to the trash. If you don’t carry another set you’re stuck and need to be rescued.

    • @TravelingTunas

      @avi david we always carry at least one extra sling on via ferratas for such cases. For this specific via ferrata we even had a rope for abseil.

      @johanwise9713 Год назад

      In the worst case you can use the given, but finished one to continue, wrapping and knot the thing around the belt.

      @@lio2759 Not true, any set which is available on EU market must be able to catch after one normalized fall at least one other at the force of 9kN. So if you fall and you are able to continue the via ferrata, the set you have is safe enough to finish it. When you fall and rip off all the absorber you will have lot of problems but the one how to continue will be the last.

      Not a stupid question at all. A big fall on VF gear will likely leave you in need of rescue anyway. It will save your life but the general rule is 'don't fall'. You can rest on a cow's tail attached to your harness.

    Hi there
    Do you have any information if this Via Ferrata is still open? I can't find any homepage or information about it. But google says it's closed permanently..
    Thank you very much for your reply
    Sincerely
    Alec

    Hello! When did you film this video?
    I heard the via ferratas on the island have been removed. Do you know anything about the current status? Are they available to climb now?

    • @TravelingTunas
      @TravelingTunas  2 года назад +1

      Hello Boldi, it was filmed in February 2022. This via ferrata Extraplomix was available at that time. But other one - Via ferrata La Guagua was closed because it had missing cables at the first 100-200m. It was possible to climb it only with the climbing rope and equipment.

      Cca 70 výškových metrov. Väčšina ferraty je prevyslá vrátane úsekov v strope jaskyne. Takže F obtiažnosť je opodstatnená.

    Grade B at my gym.

    • @danielstan2301
      @danielstan2301 Год назад

      imagine going for hours on those grade b , in scorching sun or on wet surface. sometime you have to climb 1000 meters on a via ferrata compared to the 10m max for your grade b in your gym , sometimes next to vertical drops of hundreds of meters . I agree is not free solo but it definitely is harder than a normal gym climb and i agree i had harder routes in adventure parks , but you are wrong underestimating all via ferratas

    • @superdeluxesmell
      @superdeluxesmell Год назад +1

      @@danielstan2301Sigh. First day on the internet? A standard gag on climbing videos is to claim that the claimed grade would be significantly lower at your local gym/crag. I attempted to inject some life into a tired ubiquitous joke by applying it to the climbing adjacent discipline of via Ferrata, which obviously don’t exist at local gyms/crags. Get it? Humour? I honestly don’t know why I bother. Sigh.

      @@danielstan2301 I can easily do one of the hardest via ferrata in my coutry (most people consider it to be the hardest) but the best grade i've got in sport climbing is like 6b+.... which is not very impressive.
      So yeah 1000m of climbing ladders feels easier than "only" 10m of actual holds
