    This comparison is ridiculous, she says they know these cars are in different price segments and claims that's taken into account- but then she completely forgets that and knocks out the cheap ones based on range and spec. That of course ignores that the MG4 has a top model with a much higher spec, which also has much better range than the Model Y, and is still ten grand cheaper! Why wasn't that one used? Then it might have been something closer to a fair comparison. But as it is this so called 'comparison' is totally pointless.

  • @peterengland6153

    Can you compare when there's a 30K price difference. There MG4 lacks certain bells and whistles but not 30K worth. Factory wireless charger $60, add wireless Android Auto $30, better speakers $200, heated seats (thermal underwear $20) heated steering wheel (gloves $10). Why does everyone bleat about range, after 2hrs driving I need a piss and a break, and in 15-20mins will get a charge that will last another 2hrs driving.

    • @av_oid
      @av_oid 6 месяцев назад

      I personally think unless it is a city only car, 400k range is the minimum for a family “SUV”/high hatchback. I want to be able to get away to the north or south to the beach without paying $70c/kw to charge (often going out of the way finding a good cash charger, only to find a MG4 plugged into the 350kw charger because the owners don’t know it can’t even do 150kw) when I pay only 8c/kw overnight or free during the day (solar). In the future finding a charger won’t be the issue, but it’s so much cheaper to charge at home. My bias: we own a Hyundai Ioniq 5, and besides the poor plastics (recycled and flimsy) we love it.

    BYD logo shown early in video, then to not include the car that sold more than all other non-Tesla's in this group (combined) is an oversight. Worse still is that the reason for this omission is not addressed in either the video or in reply to your viewer's comments. This format looked promising but lost relevance due to this issue and the imbalance of comparing cars of such differing categories. Why set this as a competition?

    We have a Mod Y and gotta say it is pretty faultless, except for recalcitrant auto wipers and phantom braking.
    When driving the Y it does exactly what you think it’ll do. Very neutral weight distribution. The immediate hi-torque acceleration is a lot of fun especially slotting into traffic at will.
    Superchargers are almost too quick. By the time you’ve ordered something from KFC and had a pee it’s almost charged and got to move it or pay idle fees.
    Love my Y RWD to bits. Very very easy car to drive.

    Weird logic used in this comparison. MG4 is penalised for short range but when u take into account its low price, it is actually line ball with the longest range contender the Polestar ($/km)
    Then in the written review, the MG4 is penalised for an alleged forecost poor depreciation value. But when u take into account the low price, u are actually losing less actual dollars than the others!

    I think choosing an EV is becoming like choosing a mobile phone or a laptop, first choose your operating system then choose from the hardware available for it. With Mobile Phones you have iOS and Android; with laptops you have Windows, MacOS and Linux; with EVs you have Tesla OS.

    • @greybirdo
      @greybirdo 11 месяцев назад

      Nope. I would go with ‘choose your battery technology first’ - LiFePO or Li-Ion. Do you want one with maximum range that is more prone to catastrophic thermal runaway and dispersion of some really nasty chemicals, or do you want more safety and better environmental credentials at the cost of less energy density, and therefore less range per kg of battery.

    I’ve had my two month old ioniq in at a dealer for a warranty issue for almost a month now with still no sign of getting it back anytime soon.

      Yes, because it's got half the space of the others, and costs way more than the Tesla. Plus, it's an NMC battery, so shouldn't be charged to 100% on a regular basis, unlike the Tesla and MG which can be safely charged to 100%. So, for regular use, the range isn't that different.

      @@pkerry12I guess that’s the point being made, isn’t it? That we know Tesla has the tech bit - but the rest of the offering isn’t grabbing everyone (people want CarPlay or AndroidAuto, but Tesla refuses to engage with it), and like Robert said, he wanted the Ora’s exterior (not an SUV or Sedan)… Personally, I’m annoyed Tesla got rid of the sonar parking sensors at the front of its cars and replying 100% on the LiDAR and camera on the top of the windscreen - because if you switch the car off and on again (simulating leaving it and coming back to it) it only ‘remembers’ what was there when you parked, it’s not able to do a new sweep, because right in front of the bonnet is out of its line-of-sight, so it can’t detect something that’s newly there after parking it… (kids toys or any other obstacle that could have appeared…). Additionally, I’m annoyed they didn’t include the BYD Atto3 in this lineup, because it sold more units than all of the non-Teslas combined in the last 12-months - so it seems like a big deal leaving that one out (especially without an explanation as to why it was omitted..). 😊

On screen graphic (and facts) tell you the Ioniq 5 is the fastest to DC charge and also supports 11kw/h AC charging at home. It is so fast to DC charge as it has a 800v architecture, just like the 3x the price Porsche Taycan.

      And the “charge time” show with 7.4kw wallbox compares an ioniq with 77kw battery to a Tesla with 60kw. It’s a dumb comparison. You should have shown a tested rate of charge on a 7.4kw wallbox to show if they can all fully utilise one (and as said the Ioniq 5 can use a 11kw charger, and from memory the Tesla 3/Y and Polestar 2 can do 11kw alos). @user-uf8og2bh4e problem I forsee in 20-30 years, EVs will be used as a tool to restrict our movements and to tax the average person away from owning a personal vehicle. All your energy use and travel will be tracked..... Used Evs will be valued on the condition of the battery and will be a liability for the person who owns it at the end of its life.

    Tesla wins, and there's a fairly serious update (similar to the Model 3) due some time next year. The opposition is still struggling to catch up.

    And not a spare tyre anywhere…. Still a long way before I go electric by the looks of it

      Out of interest, when did you last have a puncture and how often?
      I've had one blowout in over four decades of driving. I wouldn't normally have had a spare with me in that case because an LPG tank was where the spare went but on that day I did have it.

      The reasoning for omitting a spare tyre in EVs is to save on weight and to increase range. Like others have said, how often do you get a flat tyre? Some EVs come with a puncture repair kit to hopefully at least get you home or to the nearest garage. If you think you may need one (eg. you live remote or travel long distances often) you can always purchase a spare wheel.

      This is a new car thing, not an EV thing. Even our 2006 Toyota Estima didn't come with a spare tyre. Weird reason to not buy an EV, but I guess people are just running out of excuses.

      @@RacingAnt last time I got a flat tyre and a cracked rim on a 235/60 R18 was last year at around 9:30pm at night approximately 2 hours from Canberra. A friend got a flat last weekend at the Mitta and her car has no spare tyre (it’s a fancy Mercedes SUV… pulled into Albury and no tyre to fit the car. She had to leave the car there until Tuesday (due to work commitments) her vehicle is being trucked back to Canberra tomorrow after being a week off the road. I really hope road side assistance triples the cost for these stupid cars without spares. PS I purchased a new car this year with a full size spare wheel on an 18 inch alloy (thankfully Subaru still understands Australia has an outback)
