    It's doubtful that you've gained any more power with the stock exhaust & ECU tune. In fact it's more likely that you've reduced power by messing with the air/fuel ratio.
    But I bet the intake howl is a lot better and, let's face it, the mods we do to our bikes are to make it either look or sound better. Increased power is just the lie we tell ourselves to justify the expense. So job done in my opinion.

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  3 месяца назад

      Didn’t notice much difference in the sound of the intake to be honest.

    Did my 350, yeah, its louder and without a doubt, it has more urge. For the monetary outlay, its a worthwhile upgrade. 6 months on, i haven't felt the need to do any more mods. Enjoying my bike!

      That’s interesting, i didn’t find it any louder. I’ve had the bike for 2 years, so just mixing it up with a couple of mods, nothing that can’t be reversed though. Thanks for watching

    Recently returned to motorbikes after a long ( too long ) break and got myself the RE Meteor. Loving it so far and may also look to do a mod or two, side panniers, handle bar mirrors and after watching how easy this DNA filter looked maybe even that as well. Thanks for the content.

      Welcome back. Love my Meteor also. I’ll be doing a few more mod videos over the next 6 months, including using some more parts from @tecbikeparts. Big news regarding Tec Bike Parts products and availability in Australia dropping soon.

    I fit the DNA filter on all my bikes. I notice the note of the bike is different and louder plus an increase in performance.
    I highly recommend AEW Short Star exhaust! I tried a few different kinds and the AEW Short Star produced the most bass low end note. Delightful!
    A decat pipe is also an easy fit between the header and exhaust.

      Got to be honest, I didn’t notice any difference in sound, but definitely felt the engine wasn’t working as hard. Not a massive difference but noticeable. Thanks for watching, shall check out the AES exhaust.

    When you do the exhaust, make sure to do a de-cat pipe, it will help the exhaust breathe better and the bike will run slightly cooler.👍

    How can it do 80kmph at lower RPM, air filter dont change the gearing.

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  3 месяца назад +2

      OK, there’s no tachometer so not sure what RPM it was doing, but it sounded like it wasn’t working as hard. Also, on that stretch of road with the incline, the throttle is usually very near pinned to maintain the speed limit. With the high flow air filter I definitely has a bit of extra throttle to use if needed.

    I am going to get one for my 640 Adventure, I also have multiple bikes and it doesn’t get ridden much these days. Sick of foam filters falling to peaces in under 12 months. I have an K & N in my 1190 Adventure but doesn’t look like they make one for the 640. Looks like DNA Australia is actually direct from Europe.
    Edit- Just found a place in Sydney who supplies them. Kenma

    Nice work. One of the biggest lies motorcyclists tell themselves (and partners), I'm just keeping this one stock. Next Minute. Air filter upgrade, new exhaust and might need to reflash the ECU.
    Look forward to seeing what difference the upgrades make on both power and also fuel consumption at each stage of the bike.

  • @brianrobertson639

    Hi
    With the way the ECU is programmed on closed loop where it uses the O2 sensor for monitoring mixture it may make a bit of difference. This only occurs when less than approximately 1/2 throttle or at higher revs, where it goes to open loop and shuts the O2 sensor out and works off mapping in the ECU. IF ANYTHING you will be running leaner in open loop. And as they are almost running at 15:1 to comply with emissions instead of 14.7 :1 , like to see a cht and see any increase in heat on open loop.
    The only way to fix is to remap ECU by someone who knows what they are doing. And this is for any mod to exhaust or change intake.
    Cheers
    Brian

    I did the air filter mod a while back (5,000miles ish ago), it made the bike even more enjoyable to ride. Recently I changed the front brake pads for the EBC HH version as I felt on the limit 2 up with luggage coming down winding mountain roads. They're still bedding in but, at the moment, feel better though I dislike the buzzing when braking harder that has come with them.
    Looking forward to see what you do next. I suppose a de-cat?

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  3 месяца назад +1

      Might do a standard pipe first, then think about a de-cat. Have a few other little mods coming up also.

    I suggest you have a look at a channel called project farm to see some very scientific testing of air filters paper and the high flow cloth oil style. If more air can get through there has to be less resistance to air flow by either larger holes or less filter medium, or a combination of both. The results of the tests are quite illuminating. Enough to convince me that by sticking with OEM paper my engine is yes a little bit restricted but far cleaner. Contaminants kill motors but a little bit less air won't because its been tuned to run that way.

    • @BikerTorque

      Shall check it out.

    • @calvinmathys2023
      @calvinmathys2023 3 месяца назад

      Also consider how independent that (or any) testing actually is. Putting out a different perspective - I have heard that the oil impregnated filters collect more of the dust particles because the dust is trapped by the oil.

    4:56 "Maintain 80 kph at a lower RPM". Unless you have switched gear it's pure magical thinking. Your gear ratios are fixed, end of story. I'm sorry, I really like your channel, but this makes absolutely no sense.

    • @whatsstefon
      @whatsstefon 3 месяца назад +1

      I'm pretty sure this is exactly what Ross means. A lower RPM would point to a higher gear rather than maintaining the revs in a lower gear to make it up the same hill he commutes on daily.

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  3 месяца назад +1

      So not sure, but it definitely sounded like the engine wasn’t working as hard, no tach so can’t be certain of rpm. I usually have the throttle pinned on that stretch of road, but didn’t have to pin it with the air filter.
