This is prob a stupid question by why isnt it just = 1? If we rewrite it as (sqrt(2)-1) * (sqrt(2)-1) * (sqrt(2)-1) * ... (ten times) then arent all pairs of terms not = 1 ? What am i missing?
Answer is correct but it is stil difficult to calculate. This result, we can get easily in another way" (Sgr(2)-1)^10=(Sgr(2)-1)^(2*2*2+2)+... (Sqr(2)-1)^2=3-2*Sqr(2) (3-2*Sqr(2))^2=17-12*Sqr(2) (17-12*Sqr(2))^2=577-408*Sqr(2) and finely (577-408*Sqr(2))*(3-2*Sqr(2))=3366-2378*Sqr(2) But Sqr(2)-1 is smaller than one, therefore (Sqr(2)-1)^10 should be much smaller than one, and this is not visible in the answer at all We can estimate this value for example in this way Sqr(2)-11/3^10=1/59049~=0.000017
No calculation allowed???
your smoke alarm needs a new battery.....

(Sqr(2)-1)^2=3-2*Sqr(2)
(3-2*Sqr(2))^2=17-12*Sqr(2)
(17-12*Sqr(2))^2=577-408*Sqr(2)
and finely
(577-408*Sqr(2))*(3-2*Sqr(2))=3366-2378*Sqr(2)
But Sqr(2)-1 is smaller than one, therefore (Sqr(2)-1)^10 should be much smaller than one, and this is not visible in the answer at all
