I have the same 3.8 V6 on my cutlass...I had a new fuel to carb hardline made but i like your set up with the braided line and gauge...I'm gonna copy yours and change mine it looks good thanks for the idea homie on how to.
I've got a 78 Cutlass Salon and I'm doing this job tomorrow thanks for your detailed breakdown.
No problem. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
Great work reliability is key👍🏿💯
That's right! Gotta hop in and enjoy the drive and not worry about weird noises....thank you for watching 👊💯
I just replaced mine as well. After the new pump was in it started flooding the stock OG carburetor. Had to install a regulator. I don't have a gauge. Might go pick one up. Good video.
Yeah the pressure gauge always helps. I didn't realize how low mine was running. Now it runs really smooth and it's not starving for gas... thank you for watching
Great work homie
Gracias 🙏💯
I did the fuel pump on my '80 Monte (V6 229) last month. No way I could video it. Too much editing to remove my cuss words. Tucked under and against my cross member and starter. The ratchet wrench is your friend for sure. Nice work once again. Very clean set-up. I also like how healthy your V6 sounds. I need to work on that. My stock exhaust is like a grandma's car. :)
Thank you! Some times I don't want to record what I'm doing because the camera gets in the way and it's always a lot of editing involved lol. I'm looking to change my exhaust to the stock no sound type of exhaust. Cops are always on our ass around here and by it being quiet I won't be attractive that much attention. At least that's what I think lol
👍🏽good video
Appreciate it 👊 💯
Lol always easier said than done. I did my suspension on the Elco n thought it should take about two days, ended up takin me two months lol I got everything buttoned up but my passenger side soft brake line would not come off. It was only thing that I couldn't do after fighting w ball joints n bushings, takin off upper n lower control arms.
Damn! Yeah that's how it always is lol. The important thing is that we get it done 💪. Nice! So you have a brand new suspension pretty much. I did the same to my '78 Monte. The whole suspension is new. All stock, but new. It was before starting this channel. Could have been great if I documented that 🤷♂️💯
I need a few pointers on emissions system. Charcoal canister, n lines what goes to what. I replaced my carburetor w the speed demon carburetor, n i ended up just ripping shit out n not paying attention to my lines. I gotta replace carb to emissions approved carb n put all my lines back in.
I would say to look up the manual for emissions. They normally have the diagram of all the vacuum lines and emissions.
My boy make a video on up grading the alternator!to higher amps! If possible just a suggestion! Great videos my boy
There handy! Gracias
Great suggestion! I may do that in the future 💪thank you for watching 👊💯
Question. At 9:13, you mentioned you rotated the engine,
To make sure nothing was binding up with the fuel pump, and not hear any metal clacking after start up. My question is, does that rotation mess with timing or top dead center issues with any other systems? I guess what I’m asking is if I rotate the engine in order for the fuel pump to marry as it should inside the block, is it going to mess anything else up?
No, it won't mess anything up because you will be rotating the engine as if it was on but much much slower. Thank you for watching.
I enjoy the vids ! I am fixing up a 84 cutlass for my son we put in a rebuilt 3.8 v6 out of a 84 Buick regal a year ago but had original fuel pump, I bought that exact fuel pump is it necessary to turn the engine or can I just install fuel pump and connect lines and turn the vehicle on?
Did the instructions say anything about a pushrod I know the small blocks need the pushrod to be backed up to install fuel pump but I was told this pump was easier to install than those. Thanks for any advise
You can install it and just turn on the car. You'll be fine. These engines don't have a rod that needs to be held back. You can just take out the old fuel pump and install the new one without any issues.
@@StillStandingGarage thank you I appreciate it! Keep on doing your thing I’m learning as your putting out videos;props for sharing your experience.
No problem any time and thank you.
What exhaust setup are you running, sounds good
I have 2 18-inch glass packs in it. Thank you 🤝💯
Cool new look, I noticed ur alternator is pretty lose may throw a belt .
Yeah it was wobbling all ove the place. I have chrome brackets to dress up the motor and they came with bracing for the alternator.
@@StillStandingGarage thats a nice upgrade tho brother!!
Appreciate it 👊💯
Bro would you happen to have that part number to the little 90 degree piece that you used from fuel pump to the fuel line?
I have not been able to locate it anywhere.
Thanks in advance
And thanks for the video.
Yes, I put the link to it in the description of the video. Check it out 💪💯
Thank you Bro
Hey bro I have a 3.8 v6 in my regal and I want to change the intake to a edlebrock like yours can you tell me any modifications you had to do to run that intake ?
You will have to unplug all your emissions to run this set up. It will pretty much clean up your engine bay. But as for modifications, there isn't any major modifications required.
@@StillStandingGarage okay thanks bro can you tell me we’re I can buy one at ?
Check with Jegs and Summit racing. When I bought mine I bought them as a kit.
What is the angled adapter that you used to connect to the pipe that swivels?
It came as an attachment to the fuel line.
Okay thanks! And will these products also fit a 1978 regal 3.8l turbo?
I'm not sure if they'll fit yours. You can check on the site if you enter your car's make and model it'll tell you if it fits
Hey bro Im having a lot of issues with my 85 running really rough when I put it in gear but when its in park it idles just fine. Can you for somone in the comments tell me what’s up ? And point me in the right direction!!
My car is all stock V6 3.8L dual jet carburetor
Check that your timing is correct first. Oh, and make sure that your ignition system is in good working order. After this checks out, you can tune your carb. If it's been a while since the carb has been rebuilt, it might be a good idea to rebuild it.
@@StillStandingGarage OK I will give it a try. The carburetor is a rebuilt carburetor probably about a year old. I am pretty sure that ignition system is in good working order because it has brand new spark plugs brand new wires brand new cabin rotor so I don’t know what would be causing this issue.
What kind of fuel filter did you use bro ?
This one is "Mr Gasket 9746 Performance Fuel Filter". Thank you for watching 🤝💯
@@StillStandingGarage gracias homie 💯
De nada 👊💯
Is that a buick 3.8 motor?
Yes, it is.
What wiring harness u using boss?
For the engine?
👍
What exhaust do you have on it bro?
I have two 16" glass packs 🔥💯
@@StillStandingGarage sounds real good! Great vids bro! Finally picked myself up a 81 regal. Excited to get started on everything it needs.
Thank you for watching 💪💯 That's bad ass!! 🔥💯
How long is the line you got?
It's 21.5" long.
Do you have a part number for the adapter on the pump that swivels?
Yeah here it is
EAR-949096ERL
Thanks a lot. my pump just went out on the 83 regal so this video was VERY helpful. Thanks again for the info.
Damn that sucks. Glad I was able to help...thank you for watching 👊💯
Is that a 3.8L V6
Yes, it is 💪💯
@@StillStandingGarage bro do you know off hand for the stock carb whats the fuel pressure psi needs to be? Im switching from mechanical to electric any help would be appreciated ..same engine.
Stock should be about 5psi if I remember correctly.
@@StillStandingGarage thank you.
Ever done a gear box?
I haven't.
Very helpful homie gracias @the.emperorrrr
