Hey Ray! I had to put a new alternator in my daughter's car this past weekend. She helped me throughout the process. There were a lot of "clicks," "reverse clicks" and "gravity." I watched as one of my tools fell to the garage floor. I told my daughter, "Ray would have caught it." I have been working on my own cars for a very long time, but auto maintenance will never be the same for me or my family since watching your amazing, incredible videos.
I totally agree. I used to help my Dad many, many years ago, over 40 years, and watching Ray brings back so many wonderful memories. You are making great memories! Thank you!!
@@lisas292 My dad had Triumphs back in the 60s. A couple of Tr3s and a Tr4. My job was to crawl under the car and retrieve the pieces he dropped. I still have some of his Whitworth tools.
Speaking of left parts. I've found many wrenches under hoods when on wrecker calls🤣😂you can tell when it was a mechanic because it would be snap-on or a high end wrench
Love your videos. I have been out of the automotive tech business for over 20 years now, recently retired from the tech/IT sector. I do miss the shop and the daily surprises. I still have all my tools and do all the work on our vehicles in our rural gravel driveway. Click!
I had a feeling you were probably feeling under the weather. Happens to us all. Peter is the one getting the short end of the stick though, he’s gotta pick up the slack, lol. Seriously though, get well, feel better, all that stuff. My little granddaughter asked me why no Ray Ray video today, I told her you probably weren’t feeling well or were just busy. She said a prayer in case you were sick. Told her it worked and you would be better soon. Glad you are getting some rest.
Must be at least a little bit humbling to know so many people genuinely care for your and your family's well being. Anyway, hope you feel better soon Ray.
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well but glad to see a video of any description just to know nothing too serious is wrong hopefully. Hope that you are feeling better sooner than later.
Hope you're feeling better soon. Your video brought back memories of working the parts counter of a local dealership. Tech was doing an oil service on a New Beetle. While dropping the splash shield a burlap bag dropped to the floor along with 4 baby possums. He screamed like a school girl which naturally got the attention of everyone else in the shop. It took everyone about 10 minutes to chase them all out the back door. Definitely one of our more memorable finds.
Hope you are feeling better soon Ray! I was just thinking yesterday, that we hadn't had much of _Ray pouring fluids_ for a while. And today in the B roll we get washer fluid _AND_ oil!
Totally enjoy watching your videos. Learning a lot too. Found myself while changing my cars oil saying "click" and laughed out loud. Thank you not only for your attitude and work ethic but for making many jobs easier.
OH NO !!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I SAID IT !!! I HAVE WATCHED SO MANY OF YOUR VIDEOS THAT WHEN I CHANGED MY OIL YESTERDAY AND TIGHTENED THE OIL PAN PLUG I SAID "CLICK" !!!! IT JUST SLIPPED OUT,,,,,,ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS VERY MUCH, AND APPRECIATE THE LACK OF FOUL LANGUAGE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !!!!!! THAKYOU !!!!
glad to see you back ray! i was genuinely concerned when i sat down for my lunch at work and didn't see a video from you yesterday! you make each day awesome!
Glad to know that you are on the mend and like so many below it's hard to get through the day without a new vid from Ray the Sunshine man! Oh and I work on computers for a living and I even find myself going "CLICK" every time I tighten a screw on one. What an influencer you are LOL
Greetings from the great rust (Wisconsin). Hopefully, you'll be feeling better soon. Our prayers for good health are out to you. And remember, have a day. : )
The third stimulus bill changed the formula that employers use to calculate how much to withhold for income taxes so they had to take less out of people's paychecks so they would have a little bit more money each paycheck. That meant smaller refunds when people filed their income tax returns. And people who got advanced payments for the child tax credit but could not still claim one or more children, for whatever reason, on their tax returns had to pay income tax on that money and did not get the other half of that child tax credit. And then there were the people who got reclassified from employee to independent contractor (self employed) and found out the hard way that they owed the employers and employees part of social security and medicare taxes which is 15.2% of their net revenue. I had six people with 1099-NECs (self employment) come in on the last day who had no idea what a 1099-NEC entailed and did not set aside any money for the taxes and did not have money to pay the fees to fill out and send in the required forms for self employed people. I had one person who received a 1099-NEC with nearly %24000 on it and no expenses which meant his self employment tax was going to be about $3650. Just for everyone's information, filing your tax return and paying any tax you owe are two separate events. You do not have to do both the same time. So if you think you are going to owe taxes it would be in your best interest to file your tax return as soon as possible so you know where you stand and then have until the filing deadline to save up the money and get the payment in the mail. I encourage anyone who is thinking of being self employed or starts getting a paycheck where they are not taking anything out for income tax, social security tax, and medicare tax to set aside a minimum of 30% of your gross revenue and then make quarterly payments by filling out a 1040-V and mailing it and your payment to the address listed on the 1040-V. That way you will not have the big tax payment due when you file and might get a refund like you did when working as a regular employee. April 15, June 15, September 15, January 15 of the following year are the dates you should make quarterly payment by. You can make them earlier or later except for the last on in January which should not be put in the mail later than the 15th.
Hey Ray, hate to hear your down. Missing the content you make my day. So while you're down. Know you're missed, you do make a difference. Don't forget to have yourself a GREAT DAY!
I can give you a little tip for the Toyota vehicles when you’re changing the oil, Take one of the single quart bottles of mobile one and cut the bottle in half, The threads on the top of the bottle are identical to the threads for the oil cap on that motor so you can use that half bottle as a makeshift screw in funnel
Like everyone else, where is Ray? Hope you feel better soon. I can’t speak for the rest of your viewers, but I know I’m not going anywhere. I don’t think the other viewers are going to abandon you either. They’re good people. All the best.
Glad to see you’re back. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. If I wasn’t all the way up in Wisconsin I’d bring down a ‘99 sienna with a noisy front end, valve cover leaks, and leaky timing belt-driven water pump, but I think I’ll spare everyone all the fun that can be dealt with on the 23 year old Wisconsin minivan.
Glad to see you on today. I was worried you were sick or decided to not do videos anymore. I was going into Ray withdrawal. Thanks for the videos. Makes my day complete.
Missed you yesterday, Ray. But I was compensated by nature giving us a rare couple of days of sunshine here on the east coast of Australia (NSW), so I could go out and play.
That Toyota 6V 4 litre is easy for an oil change. My sons Tacoma had enough ground clearance you can slide right under and drain the oil with no ramps or lift. The filter is easily accessible on top, but use a little cup under the “moat” to catch the seepage.
A trick I learned working on my 07 Tacoma, just put an empty oil bottle wedged in the area under the oil filter and it collects the spillage, or run a tube from that little nipple to a drain pan.
I think most people dread getting a routine service done because you just know that the Shop will give you a list as long as your arm of repairs that need doing.
Hey Ray. Hope your having a great day today. One thing I always do on my Toyota (Yoda) I put an old quart jug just under that little hole and it catches all the oil from the filter and then I put on new filter and brake clean it. Catches all the resedual oil and all the brake clean. Just thought I'd share my little hack. Hope your doing well through the hard times.
That gen of tacos and 4-runners with that top mount filter, I always use something such as a cup or half of an empty bottle of brake fluid to catch the oil that comes from that housing.
Feel better, Ray. We'll catch you when you're back in action! Don't knock the B-Roll, even minor repairs are interesting. It's great for a little something while you're experiencing your own down time.
Ray we missed having a great day drinking coffee & watching you having yourself a great day, definitely glad that your feeling better. On the first video, you got Rat to it evicting the rats, they must’ve been late on the rent, lol. Hoped that you received great eviction pay. That Toyota’s oil filter must’ve been sat on
For that Toyota style, I use an old soda bottle. Fits (even on the bottom), don’t make a mess, and has a cap to just throw away after dumping the oil in a proper container.
Dangely bits you say. Reminds me of the pilot who leaves a note for the mechanic, " Something loose in cockpit" to which the mechanic writes a note that states "Tightened something in cockpit". Or new note " This plane's auto pilot sucks" And the reply was " This plane has no auto pilot!"
I get a 32 oz bottle of lucas empty and cut the top off and use that under the drain hole to catch the oil from the filter, great video and yes the last couple of weeks has been slow here also in New Mexico

As for the optional engine covers. The audi 4.0 requires the cover to be there while driving. The heat from the turbos will damage the hood.
