  • The raping of Greyhound by the Dial Corporation and why some passengers had to wait up to 18 hours for a bus. But Greyhound Canada thrived but would only connect with Trailways buses and they maintained their buses better than the ones in the U.S. after a while.
This also discusses the TNMO coaches, Texas, New Mexico, & Oklahoma, and also when they started putting 8-cylinder motors in them.

Thanks for the history. I didn't know about the paint scheme being called Pepsi.

The last time I saw a GMC PD4107 was in the 90’s with Greyhound graphics and other buses coming down Atlantic Avenue coming to casinos

Another thing Bob was not correct about was Greyhound did sell of quite a few 4107's with the Pepsi Stripe livery. In June 1979 the company I worked for @ the time purchased SGL-5169 1967 PD 4107-1000 from Hausman Bus Sales in Pitman, NJ. SGL-5169 had run a NYC-PHL sched that morning & we picked it up that afternoon. There were at least (10) other GLI 4107's that were already sold & they just had the GLI name & dog log's re moved & they were picked up that same day with the Pepsi livery. The salesman was a man who's well known in the bus industry & he can verify what I,m saying, his name is John R. Oakman, Sr. He was the Sales Manager @ Hausman for many years & sold more than a few ex-GLI & other company's buses before moving on to Trailways bus sales division American Coach Sales in Camden, NJ in 1982.

Bob was incorrect about the corporation. The Greyhound Corporation owned Armor Meat Packing, & Dial Soap among other companies. Upon the sale of the bus line John Teets totally wanted to divest itself of anything bus, so he changed the name of the Greyhound Corporation to the Dial Corporation. The bus line had nothing to do with the Dial Corporation.
