Xiaomi make awesome equipment but they constantly fail to offer the EU the same level of device / server support on the vast majority of their smart devices. I've lost count of the amount of times I've purchased Xiaomi equipment only to find that it's not supported on EU servers. As a result the majority of Xiaomi's smart home equipment will mostly only work on Mainland China servers, meaning you will have major latency issues and delays between a command on your end like for example you flicking a smart light switch and the time it takes for that command to leave your property bounce over the internet to mainland China's servers and then back again to change the state of the relavent device such as a light bulb. (Latency, the sum of all delays). If you manage to establish and buy some EU server supported equipment and set your mi home app up within your chosen EU region and then randomly end up buying some Chinese only devices later on you will not even be able to see the Chinese stuff on your network until you revert the mi home app back to the mainland China region. The second you do that your EU supported Xiaomi device will then be unusable via the Xiaomi app unless you want to start resetting everything and starting again, you're effectively fucked unless you want to move the lot all on to Chinese servers. Also the second you set your Mi Home app to Mainland China region you do not have the same EU privacy or data protection terms, conditions, laws or policies that you would get if Xiaomi did officially provide official support for EU server across their smart range. When your mi home app to mainland China's servers, you're effectively agreeing to the same unknown terms, conditions, data protection, laws and privacy policies that mainland Chinese citizens are expected to obide by and who the fuck wants that? Theirs no real reason Xiaomi can't pull their finger out of their ass and offer us EU citizens proper server support with privacy and data protection terms, conditions and support that falls in line with EU laws, they simply can't be assed. My Mi Smart Gateway v3 turned up yesterday from China and guess what; I can't use it unless I switch region to mainland China, and the second I do that I lose access to my few EU supported devices.
Hi Souk, I totally agree that the difference in the servers is really annoying. I personally am in China so I don't experience much of this (latency or problems with connection) but I feel that this is the number one complaint about the Xiaomi Smart Home Ecosystem from users outside of China. I do believe that I have heard that they would start adding support for ALL their products on the EU (and other) servers this year, but I am not sure IF and when that will happen. --> In their defense: they can always argue that these products are meant to be sold on the Chinese market only and are solely sold by 'unauthorized' resellers on websites like AliExpress, etc... But as a way of appreciating 'early adopters' outside of China, I personally feel that they should add compatibility for all of the products on all of the servers. As a side note, I have tried a few things on the EU server on my main Xiaomi account. If I revert the location back to China in the APP, all my devices are still there and working. If I then switch back to the EU server again, it still lists all my connected devices on that server as well. So, even though it's still a huge pain in the ass to be switching servers, it should actually still list those devices on that specific server. Nonetheless, I do feel your pain, and I really hope this is something that will be looked into in the near future. I don't have THAT great of a contact with (or influence on) Xiaomi to make this happen, but I will make sure to mention this whenever I get to talk to them and hopefully someone will take action. For now, I always just always advise anyone outside of China to always use the CN mainland server, but I do understand your arguments and can't argue with what you're saying, at all. Hopefully, this will be looked into sometimes soon. -I might even consider to do a video about this, to give this issue some more attention :)
personally i think you have some issue with your internet connection... i have several houses with Xiaomi lights and i don't have any latency. or just reprogram them and build your own network using only the hardware with your own software
Ok, the first thing is the price is too low. Do you know Why ? Cheap Products for China Market..Some smart sellers sell them for you but never tell you products not for EU-market..Understand, why not server support in EU ? Buy a global products not China
If I understand your video correctly, even if I use Aqara smart switch and have the automation set base on movement sensor, none of it will work if I switch off the light switch physically? The only way to overcome is by using the slisaon switch? If the lights are physically off, I would have to on them either via the app or physically again to have the automation work?
Great videos, watch all of them. Will this work with HomeKit ? Maybe one day you could make a video about what works with what when comes to voice assistant. Is so confusing with products being launched constantly.
I am not familiar with Aqara offering the always-on feature? -Do you happen to know the product code? I have several of the wired Aqara switches installed in my apartment, and theres some big differences. The Aqara switches connect over Zigbee to the HUB and this allows you to remotely control the switch. (Either from the APP or with automation rules...) This would be great for non-smart lights to turn them on/off remotely and integrate them into your smarthome environment. The Yeelight (and Xiaomi) switches don't have any (Zigbee, Bluetooth or WiFi) connection but (when set to 'flex switch') but, as far as I understand the concept, just shortly interrupts the power to the light when you use this switch, which is telling this light that it is being turned off using the light switch. -So technically the power is just interrupted shortly which the light sees as a command to turn on/off. The main functionality of this switch is actually in the light bulb itself rather than the light switch (as that just bounces back). I hope this helps :)
What about security of this setup? Will your neighbor be able to turn your lights off or on by using the same application or is there some pairing involved?
YES! I do have some of the Aqara wall switches as well. I might do a video about them?? The Aqara light switches connect over Zigbee to a Zigbee hub (Xiaomi gateway, Aqara gateway, etc) and they can be controlled using the APP. That means you can cut off the electricity using the Mi Home APP and Siri, etc.. When using this light switch with a regular smart light bulb it will still totally disconnect the bulb when the switch is turned off. I would say that these Aqara wall switches are great when you have non-smart lights and you don't want (or can't) to replace them with smart lights /yet you want to be able to make them smart... The Yeelight switches have a function that basically disconnects the power for a second to the light bulb so it will 'know' it is being turned off using the switch and will remain to be online in the APP. This only works with a number of supported lights (like the ones I reviewed and then some...) but they allow you to use the light switch as well as the APP and they will not be disconnected. It's kinda hard to easily explain in a short message, but I hope this helps!
I think Zigbee Aqara Wall switches is better for you. Just get a zigbee hub (normal hub), replace traditional switch you Zigbee switch, then your dumb light can be controlled via the app
Hi xiaomify, im referring to the light switches of the aqara for HomeKit will it link the other devices from Xiaomi Mija to if i set automations to trigger certain scenes using only the aqara hub ?
No. I just got Xiaomi version and they are working without neutral. But please be aware of compatible lights list - not all Yeelight lamps are supported (4 of mine do not have Flex switch option)
My room has 2 lighting points with one swith. Is it okay if I want to install the ceiling light to both points? How does it affect the apps configuration?
Looks like the Xiaomi smart switches i bought doesnt look the same as yours based on the back plate and mine is Xiaomi Mijia branded. Also, mine has a tiny switch below the smart switch which makes the smart switch work with always on concept. I noticed you seem to have the same tiny switch also on yours since you try to use it while you were installing it. But you did not mention it on the video at all :( Xiaomi/Xiaomify fan here from the Philippines :)
These new switch actually don't contain any smart element. Simply went you press they cut off the power only shortly and restore it immediately after. The light are made to react to this and toggle the light.
It is clear when you come IN you want the lights turn on. But what happens when you go out? How not to have the lights go ON when you exit the apartment? Thanks
Are you able to control Mesh lights (installed trought Mi Gateway 3) using Google Assistant voice command? After linking Mi Home to Google Home all my WiFi lights are visible (I am able to control using Google Assistant), but none of Mesh LED.
@@xiaomify Hey man, me too! New apartment looks lovely! Which area are you in? I'm in Long Bai (Changning), couldn't afford a lovely place like yours!!!! Isn't it quiet here right now?!?!?! Like stepping back to 12 years ago!
I was about to give it a go, but the major drawback of these fixtures (or Xiaomi for that matter) that they can't give you enough brightness. For me, 300Lm is not enough. They should consider a variety of wattage so that we can choose among them. For that reason, I bought fixture 7watts that give me 770 lumens so that my ceiling won't dotted with the lamps.
does this lights witch work with some of their led strips? that would be so great! I had the concept in mind of this light switch and they really made them!!
Can these lights be turned on Gradually.. For example, You hit the light switch or through App/motion sensor and the light does not go instantly to Full brightness, but goes from 0 to100% in 1-2 seconds?
Hi, commenting fairly late to this video but could use some guidance. Really like your videos as I like Xiaomi and Yeelight products however very few reviews and videos about them here in the UK. I have installed 20+ Xiaomi Mijia downlights which are I believe similar to these lights working via Xiaomi Gateway (Chinese server). I was wondering if you knew how to make them work with Google Home/Voice, and secondly, if you know of any manual dimmer that could work with these lights. Tried various forums with little luck. Many thanks and pls keep up the good work with your Xiaomi/Yeelight ecosystem coverage.
Well yeah, the point of a new product is to not remove functionality, just add it, that's why switches are still good, because sometimes you just don't want to ask a smart assistant or have an automation to turn it on, sometimes you are just there on the switch and you want to click it.

I noticed you seem to have the same tiny switch also on yours since you try to use it while you were installing it. But you did not mention it on the video at all :(
Xiaomi/Xiaomify fan here from the Philippines :)
What's the maximum of BLE mesh lights you can connect to just one V3 hub? I'm setting 20 of these lights controlled by 14 zigbee switches.
Wait the xiaomi phillips can also support SLISAON concept right?
I've my sliason switches working with the downlights but I cant get them to work with filament bulbs.
Will the connectivity be stable for a 3,000 squared feet place? Thanks!
is this model capable with homekit?x
I have Google home n mini..isit just enough to pay with yee lights downlights?
Great video! With these SLISAON switches, how do they differ from the Xiaomi Smart Wired switches?
These new switch actually don't contain any smart element. Simply went you press they cut off the power only shortly and restore it immediately after. The light are made to react to this and toggle the light.
It is clear when you come IN you want the lights turn on. But what happens when you go out? How not to have the lights go ON when you exit the apartment? Thanks
Are you able to control Mesh lights (installed trought Mi Gateway 3) using Google Assistant voice command? After linking Mi Home to Google Home all my WiFi lights are visible (I am able to control using Google Assistant), but none of Mesh LED.
I have Xiaomi European gateway with motion sensors. Do they work on the European servers? If not can you recomand a version that is compatible?
Where do you live? Seems like you have so many of these xiaomi products that seem difficult to get.
I live in Shanghai, so yeah, I am quite close to the source :)
@@xiaomify same here!
@@xiaomify awesome
@@xiaomify Hey man, me too! New apartment looks lovely! Which area are you in? I'm in Long Bai (Changning), couldn't afford a lovely place like yours!!!! Isn't it quiet here right now?!?!?! Like stepping back to 12 years ago!
@@al201103 I live in changning district too
Big thumb to ur video! Hope u can review the XiaoMi Soundsbar.
Do you know if there is a 110v downlight versión that works with xiaomi ecosystem?
I was about to give it a go, but the major drawback of these fixtures (or Xiaomi for that matter) that they can't give you enough brightness. For me, 300Lm is not enough. They should consider a variety of wattage so that we can choose among them. For that reason, I bought fixture 7watts that give me 770 lumens so that my ceiling won't dotted with the lamps.
the pro downlight offers 600 lm per spot
does this lights witch work with some of their led strips? that would be so great!
I had the concept in mind of this light switch and they really made them!!
Do they work with led strips.?
Do the yeelight spots work with google home?
Are the Xiaomi flex lights in the mi home app? As I cant see them. Also are the yeelight flex switches in the mi home app
Can these lights be turned on Gradually.. For example, You hit the light switch or through App/motion sensor and the light does not go instantly to Full brightness, but goes from 0 to100% in 1-2 seconds?
I don't know if I get it right - those switches alone are not smart? You cannot add them to the app and control normal (dumb) light bulbs?
Hi, commenting fairly late to this video but could use some guidance. Really like your videos as I like Xiaomi and Yeelight products however very few reviews and videos about them here in the UK. I have installed 20+ Xiaomi Mijia downlights which are I believe similar to these lights working via Xiaomi Gateway (Chinese server). I was wondering if you knew how to make them work with Google Home/Voice, and secondly, if you know of any manual dimmer that could work with these lights. Tried various forums with little luck. Many thanks and pls keep up the good work with your Xiaomi/Yeelight ecosystem coverage.
try the "Yeelight gateway" or another yeelight lamp with gateway functionality, this works for me in austria EU
Do they have a 110/120 V versions? I only see the 220v
That's this work with Aqara Hub ?
What's the point in 4 watt spotlights? where are they applicable?
Should’ve been called Yeetlight , I’d buy that
Yeelight: "Hi, I'm a smart light. I don't need a switch to be turned on!"
Also Yeelight: "Here a switch for you so people can turn you on/off."
Well yeah, the point of a new product is to not remove functionality, just add it, that's why switches are still good, because sometimes you just don't want to ask a smart assistant or have an automation to turn it on, sometimes you are just there on the switch and you want to click it.
1. Xiaomi Xiaomi yeelight color temperature spotlight M2
2. Xiaomi Xiaomi yeelight smart light strip
3. Xiaomi Yeelight Free mounting knob Press down Bluetooth connection switch
Can the three of them be used together?
can you pair with google assistant?
Has anyone tried the downlight in a bathroom? They don't say anything about its water resistance
