Phosphorus’s origin story in the new DCU is one of the most messed up origin stories of any Batman villain ever and they made Rupert Thorne the definition of evil
Those scenes made this my favourite episode by far I haven’t felt that much dread waiting to find out what happens in barely anything better lone a super hero cartoon happy to see the new universe is taking these characters as serious as the comics

Dr Phosphorus's backstory was so shockingly heartbreaking, I didn't expect it to get so dark. Seeing my favourite character from the show suffer like this was hard to watch. His transformation is sick, in both a cool way and a horrifying way, and I love it tbh. Probably my favourite episode of the show so far (we'll see how the finale turns out).

He kinda always has. Even before he was made a Mob boss in btas, Rupert Thorne was involved in just about every illegal pie in Gotham City, and had ruined hundreds, if not thousands of lives. Dr. Phosphorus is no different. Honestly this version of dr. Phosphorus's origin is a lot more tragic than the comics version. Rupert thorne played an indirect part in Dr. Phosphorus's accident in the comics and Dr. Phosphorus decided to swear vengeance against all of gotham city, not just Thorne.
Regular people would have fried to death when cooked in a nuclear reactor. In Dr. Sartorius' case, he was one of the few with a metagene that allowed him not only to survive a lethal dose of radiation but also gain powers.
It's a small thing to me but I do kinda appreciate how they're trying to line up the continuity for live action by having Dr. Sartorius' animated model look like Alan Tudyk even though he'll probably never look that human again.
YES! It's like we're watching a fully-rendered and coloured storyboard for a DC movie with the characters being played by the actors behind them, not just their voices! Talk about realism!!🤩🤩
It took me a while to realize Thorne's VA was the same guy who voiced Dutch -- I don't mind it in the least, because I associate Dutch's voice with the voice of a charismatic villain anyway.
For me, I caught it at 0:38. I knew the voice was familiar and I couldn't put my head on it but once he grabs Phosphorus, You can immediately hear it's dutch. He sounded just like he does in chapter 6
I love how both Phosphorous & Rupert Thorne are drawn to look like Alan Tudyk & Benjamin Byron Davis. Even tho we might never see them in live action they maintain this continuity so the role is theirs.

To me, Dr. Phosphorus's Transformation into his radioactive form is a combination of Clayface's Origin from Batman TAS (Matt Hagen) and Blight's Origin from Batman Beyond (Derek Powers)
Weasel, G.I Robot, Dr. Phosphorus characters that I sympathize with and cry for the way they tell their stories. Seriously, those who criticize James Gunn lack brains, because this guy knows how to tell good stories about unknown characters and make us love them. I hope next week we'll see the origin of my favorite character Nina Maszursky 💙😪

After seeing what Thorne did to his wife and daughter, and then watch him laugh and play at the dinner table with his family boiled my blood... And then the irradiated skeleton says that line. Cold as ice but was one of the best revenge sequences I've ever seen. No wonder Phosphorus is a sociopath 😮
I knew something was familiar about Rupert Thorne VA when he was yelling, only to find out HE'S DUTCH from Rdr2. God Benjamin Byron Davis is an amazing Voice actor.
Even though he had good intentions, he still made the wrong choice of getting involved with Rupert Thorne. It cost him his family and sanity. One can't help but feel sorry for Doctor Phosphorus for what he went through when he was human.
I really like how his new life as a crime boss and loss of his family made him into someone ruthless and brutal But, at his core he’s still a father and despite his condition where he burns through flesh with a nuclear fire, he can still carefully hold a child and play
In a world where superheroes exist, why would you ever murder someone with an experimental radioactive generator when bullets have a much higher success rate? A flair for the dramatic is what causes 90% of super powers!
James Gunn is showing us, that monsters aren't born, they're made. You'll laugh, you'll be on the edge, and Yes, you may cry. What a show this is. Bold move to start a new with a animated series, but imo ,its paying off. Quality stuff . Dope show🔥🔥🔥🔥 DC is ready off to a great start.
