    External breather system with a catch can will fix that right up.

    • @richardlee2488
      @richardlee2488 Год назад +2

      It doesn't need to be external breather to work but a catch can is engine basics. At least they don't have to suffer exhaust gas recirculation which is really messy.

    I went one step further on the oil bucket. I put a drain pan over the top of the funnels to keep dirt & dust from collecting.

    The real question is..Where did the oil come from?
    It’s a paper filter, so it didn’t come from there.
    Oil doesn’t come out of the intake, so not from there.
    Oh yea, It must have come from the motors breather tubes that go in to the intake to the cylinders.
    Imagine all the oil that must have been sucked in to the intake of that motor and into the cylinders. Even with all that suction there was so much oil coming out of those breathers that there is still a good bit of oil that couldn’t be sucked in and ended up in the bottom of the air cleaner.
    I can only imagine how much carbon has already built up on the pistons and valves.
    I feel sorry for the owner of that bike.
    It will probably take its last breaths shortly after the warranty expires, as if almost by design.
    Wow, wait a minute, those engineers at the factory are a lot smarter than we give them credit for.

And a 1/2" drilled hole in the back bottom air box... On my new 2023 M8, 114 ci. Tri-Glide from mile one!. My engine is not going to eat or digest it's own poop!. And never will get an half oil soaked/ plugged up air filter that can't breath!. But this is something Doc can't tell you on here or at his dealer!!..

      I got a little more created with mine. I have a hyper charger that I like but hate a carb and filter coated in oil. Ran 2 lines 1 off of each crankcase vent under my gas tank and fabricated 2 small L brackets. Then bought 2 chrome cased filters that were reusable and mounted them one to each bracket. This allows a few things. The engine vent as it should, does not allow oil all over my engine, and when my engine is shut off it allows any oil in the lines to drain back into the crank case. It also looks nice and very professional.

      Attention to details. Take the time to create a Critical Fastner sheet with tools needed. Make it a habit. As you are torquing look around each area for things that need attention. And keep your area clean. When a customer is brought back to your bay to see the issue, confidence is projected in a clean bay…..Doc

    My 2019 Road Glide has not leaked one drop of oil. I run a Fueling vented dipstick to help in the venting of my motor. I also don’t abuse my bike. I keep the rpm’s in the low range and use the motors low end torque to move it along. Helps keep the motor cooler and last longer. Air cooled Harley engines are not designed to run hard and fast. I run mine like I run my diesel semi , low and slow.

  • @exupakias

    Common thing for many motorcycles companies.For Harleys as i understand its not big deal if you see oil in filter box as its coming from breathers, but, for other companies as japanese engines if you see oil in filter box this is very bad for the engine.Sometimes this happened because of viscocity oil engine, too thin.

  • @allancaspers6471
    @allancaspers6471 Год назад +1

    Well if Harley -Davidson would have only return the oil mist back into the lower engine case with steal tubes. Running oil into throttle body and engine in a bad idea. The engine vacuum shows it can't keep up with the oil all over the air filter. I hate this about Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Also techs need to add blue lock tight to the air cleaner bolt replace the air cleaner bolt. I had friends that got their Harleys serviced by Harley techs and the air cleaner bolt unscrewed and air air filter and cleaner crushed on the road. I would like to see a 1328 Revolution Max in the Softail frame and touring frame as well.
