Passed my test first time with 1 minor on the 2nd of august 2024 , big thanks to this channel as it was helpful these videos are brilliant to learn from when your not actually out learning on the road. Thanks again and good luck to anyone ready to sit there test safe and calm is the way , prepare well and you can’t go wrong 🙏
Hi James. This is advice is all well and good and decent advice. However the DVSA do not help by offering a poor service and lack of test availability. Where I am we have a number of driving instructor WhatsApp groups where we can swap tests amongst each other. And in general it works really well.
my instructor was the 0.01% who genuinely wanted my money. He was always wasting my time 15 minutes per lesson by making me park up whilst he gets food or getting gas, he always turned up late and didn't recover my time. and when I said I've booked my test after driving smoothly for a while he said i'm not ready. I booked it anyway and told him I need his car and passed with only 3 minors first try.
I don’t know what’s going on with the long waiting list for tests when I passed in 2017 6 weeks it was at Newton Abbot my local test centre now it’s 22 weeks which is now new year same at Exeter and Plymouth I do feel for my youngest brother who will want to learn at some point
I have no actual facts, however since Covid hit, the test centres seem to have many less test examiners. The DVSA has not recruited nearly enough replacements over the past four years. I suspect that the pay and conditions are not good enough to attract new examiners (and some of the test centres are not fit for purpose). As this is a low profile problem, the government pays lip service, but probably has not allocated enough money to the DVSA to fix these problems.
I passed with an instructor I’d only been learning with for 6 weeks, had several over the years until I clicked with her. I’d been learning for years, and only had a month until my theory certificate ran out for the second time. Went for it, and passed, she was as surprised as I was, but felt brilliant
@@JamesTravis a guy called Richard was the instructor previously where everything clicked…I couldn’t get in touch with him however for lessons so found someone else
i definitely understand plantain princess’ comment. Are you aware of the new address of mitcham test route from Tuesday? i gotten in my email other day on Friday afternoon. 101 waddon way Purley way😮 Talk about Last minute.😅 i be nervous when reversing because making certain of parking accuracy and this important observation. My test is next month in September 20th. New roads and perhaps a new test route to do.
My test is booked for two weeks and I've just received an email to say it'll now be at a different centre in another area. Ideally, I'd like to push my test back a month or so to get comfortable and familiarise myself with the new area a bit but there just aren't any tests available to do that. The different test centre isn't even on the booking system!

Sorry to hear about your experience with your driving instructor.
Also don't "waste" a test slot that another learner driver (who is ready) would be very thankful for.
That’s a good point

Yes I seen the email. I would expect a few people going to the old test centre who have not checked their emails
@@JamesTravis specially on Tuesday, they have to drive to new address
New route and everything does make me more nervous
