- Is a wide coil gap better on a Predator 212?
Tested different coil gaps on the ARC billet flywheel on the 212-powered Azusa minibike to see what gap would make the bike run the best.

@@Black66I replaced the ignition coil assembly and new spark plug on my ct100u since old boot broke off now my bike won’t idle right sounds like it’s idle too high then turns off in 5 seconds after turning it on the could gap was set at .018 idk ifs the correct gap I called Coleman they said they don’t know
As everyone heads to the garage to gap their coils....
Very interesting
The coil primary wire to the plug...I have done this on a Hammerhead go kart...From the coil take solid core wire uncoated...One end make a ground connection to the engine block...Then start coiling the solid core wire tight one layer to about one inch from the end of plug...Then wrap insulation tape or elec. tape to cover exposed wire...When I first did this the spark was much more intense than the normal spark...Brighter, defined, more horse power...This simple mod may make a difference...Try it and see if it works then do a video on it...
To me it seemed like the closer the gap the more acceleration you had.
I don't know what you are doing but I like your trial runs through the desert...lol
I've noticed this before on my 225 when I had set it at .30 to .35 thou on the coil Gap, I opened it up to .75 thou & that's solved all my high RPM breaking up issues
Should’ve tested the 0-30, so we get “quick” answers
😂
Yes Master, now I have to go to garage and play with coil gap, until I get top results😅.
How is it , every question I’ve needed answered you have a video for !
👍❤I love it !!
Thanks! Thanks for watching the videos!
lol same
Great video, was wondering, have you done any videos on timing yet?
Dumb question, but it's .060 inch right? Like on my feeler gauges I'd be the inches part I'm looking at right?
I know of a mini bike that will do 100mph checkout VOLT mini bikes....
Didn't say which fuel or timing key. I believe that flywheel is timed for methanol with a straight key. If it's on gas the timing would be too high so more gap would retard the timing for more speed. ARC has factory specs for timing and coil gap that are pretty much right on. Also, I would get a pair of racing gloves and shoes that cover your ankle.
If you use this settings on the 10k rpm aluminum flywheel would it perform the same.
Black66. There is no such thing as to many mini bikes🤣🤣
May I add something maybe time it as well from 0-60mph. Just a thought
My hot coil ask for .65
Love it man
Yes!
Another great and fun video sir, thank you for sharing your knowledge and giving me inspiration.
Another great instructional video bro. You should find you an old greyhound motor and compare it against the predator. I had a greyhound given to me and got it running and now it's on my doodlebug holding up strong
she wants more mo mo mo mo moeeee !!! anything for more jiggAwatts give her the Juice shes a Beast!!!100% Thanks for taking it to the MAX for us showing wat these lil monsters can do
I’m going to try this on my 236cc Tillotson road course kart. Any top speed gain will be a great advantage.
Diesel set up or turbo experiment please!!! Great video as per usual sir!!!
Love the comparison videos 👍🏼Stay safe, ride safe.
Interesting, had no idea what would happen…..
Good stuff brotha
Man i love this hobbie lol. Performance is Performance man
03:19 "oh here comes my new Mikuni carb getting dropped off by Amazon Drone Mail."
What happened to your hand jw great vids!
I can't remeber. I did this video a few months back.
Getting the coil further away, causes less magnetig drag on the flywheel. .080" is probably max distance or close to it, before you lose too much spark energy. Pretty cool experiment! Thanks for running that test!
The magnetic drag factor makes sense when you put it like that
Seemed it struggled a bit from 57-60 when it was set to 30 thousands but looked a little stronger from 0-20. Cool video 👍🏽
Quick question. I have a 79cc predator that couldn’t run WOT without choke. Tried 2 new stock carburetors and a pz19 carburetor and even jetted the 19mm but still had the same problem. Any idea what is causing that? It just bogs and dies when given full throttle without choke
Things I'd pay attention to first: good fuel, good carb gasket seal, clean air filter, correct spark plug gap, good contact with spark plug boot, fuel lines of appropriate size, enough height difference that fuel makes it to the engine, proper flywheel/coil gap. If none of that works, you might have gotten a lemon or it's worn out enough that it doesn't have good compression. I'm not a mechanic though, so maybe you'll get some better ideas from others
That's all the surface-level stuff I can think of. I'm assuming the engine hasn't suffered any catastrophic damage from running without oil or something. I hate to waste a salvageable engine, but those 79's are cheap enough that it might save you some grief to just get a new one.
@@kentsugden6865 thanks a lot for the help. Il look into that stuff and hopefully figure it out.
Not sure if you're carburetor has a air/fuel adjustment screw but I'd check there and see if that helps
Also depending on what elevation you live in you may not have the correct jet for your air density, unlikely tho
Definantly sounded weaker with smaller coil gap and sounded rough at idle
I want one of that Sir🙋🇵🇭 Piliphines
I just watched a video saying the new ghost engines are rpm limited by the coil. The video said it's printed on the coil itself. I have a preditor 212 hemi. I am not sure it's true or just a ghost thing. Do you have any coil recommendations or do you run a stock coil. I was just going to upgrade my plug wire not the whole coil. 7mm 0 ohm wire solid copper core and lower profile boot. Does it matter in your opinion. If wider gap .080 made a difference this might . Thanks!
Also I like that fuel tank you have ! Did you modify it to mount on your front tank mounts ? Do you mind sharing where you got it from 🙏
Yes it is true. Watch this video on the ghost coil and flywheel swap . Also check out the Ghost playlist for many videos with the Ghost ruclips.net/video/lm6zTvhJHSk/видео.html
How do you fix the vibration when i ride it vibrates so much
What gear ratio are you using on this bike to make it go that speed?
Alright so if I wanna get the best cam for under 60$ what would it be or should I keep stock cam and go ratio rockers ?? I dunno there's so many options
I would say a 265 cam with 22lb springs is a good choice for around $60
id keep her at 60 just for heat and friction purposes lol i wonder if my ducar pvL flywheel will like the 80
I'm betting it doesn't like 80
What if you went with 100 thousandths?
Dude, you are not black or 66!
so he can only have his channel name accurate to his physical attributes? "senior bald man with shades" plus he wud have to change the channel name every time he has shades on in the video to be accurate.
Wow 😆
hey! where can i find that fuel tank? i can’t find a nice one that mounts to the stock tank mounts
I actually made this tank out of a car overflow tank. I will have to do a video on it. Thanks for watching!
You ever had issues with the slipstream coil gap to close? Under .05 would it give no spark? I’m having issues with spark on my 200 hisun. Wondering if I burned my coil setting to close. I didn’t realize they needed that gap I had set mine at .035 I get spark occasionally but if I gap it that far no I get nothing. Assuming coil is bad now?
You better check your side, you’re leaking oil, that’s exactly how I blew my motor it only had two maybe three hours on it
@Elijah’s MiniBikes
Unfortunately it was a little too late for me, I had three hours minimum on my totally built 212 it end up costing me a new piston new rings and new bearings other than that everything was fine, she’s back together running great I don’t know why but I lost 2 miles an hour on the top end may because the motor is not as loose as the other one I don’t know at this point I don’t care ha ha ha ha
@Elijah’s MiniBikes I do now my brother, I have a Torque wrench right next to it set at 18 pounds, how much older than you think I have all the Time in the world to go over this thing before I use it
Good info video
This video is great I’ve been really contemplating on if the stock coil is as good as a OEM GX 200 coil or a upgraded hot coil?
Thanks ! I have a video with a hot coil coming out .
@@Black66 definitely needed thanks!
That was fascinating. Thanks.
Maybe you can help me i have a tillotson 212 and when i first start it it takes a few cranks when i start running it say around the block then come back turn it off. Then wait a minute or so and try and turn it back on it will not start even when i have choke on. Could it be timing if any or gap between ignition coil. But when i finally get it running again it will sometimes bog out when i give it gas. Hopefully you can help. Love your videos too.
I like about .060
where did you get that clear cover that goes over the flywheel that thing is awesome
So for a basic build, what coil gap do you ideally stay around?
About .060 with the ARC billet ...on a basic build 😀👍
@@Black66 what about something simple like a just a carb, pipe, jet, govenor removal, around .040?
So for a billet internal build 60 is ok? My all billet but nothing crazy it’s just a stronger cruiser
Link for the gas tank
I made the gas tank out of a car over flow tank
Continue the big gap started making a short out to the ground terminal on the coil did you have any experience like that
Always a plus side...🤣🤣🤣 Excellent video..!
YES! LOL
@@Black66 Good way of thinking 😁 I have an idea for you... With all the testing of the different combinations of parts I think it would be a super cool idea to do a full blown "Ultimate" mini bike build starting from scratch with a goal of 0-30 less than 3 secs & a top speed of 75+...
Could it be done..? I think you could do it man..?
@@houseoffire72 Yes! It could be done. Thats a good idea! I could use it as a giveaway bike!
@@Black66 Sounds awesome hope to see it happen.
Thanks for your information on the coil Gap I had good luck and bad luck
What jet?

What is the GPS app you are using for your testing?
🤟💯Good video, I like this Isuzu bike. Interesting comparison!
🔥🔥👍👍😎😎
How do you know if your predator is a hemi or not? I bought a fly wheel and now i fear it won't fit the shaft
One easy way to tell is the hemi has a cast aluminum squarish valve cover and the non-hemi has an octagonal stamped steel valve cover like a stop sign
How do I remove the old valve guides on my Flathead Briggs & Stratton and put in the new valve guides I got a 10 over alcohol breathing flat head at the valve guides are toast and is there a way for me to regrind the seats without having the tool using sandpaper?
Not really man. You need a good solid fitting pilot and a trued grinding wheel on an arbor or a carbide cutter. Good news is, you can buy a small engine cutter set for only 60 bucks nowadays. They have the pilots, and 45 degree seat cutter. Plus they come with 30 and 60 degree cutters for narrowing/moving the actual sealing area on the seat. Make your money back by doing 3 angle valve jobs for your buddies. :)
how do you get the overlay of speedometer in your videos ?
It is in the camera software. Thanks for watching the videos!
@@Black66 big fan. you’re a huge help. what camera do you use ?
