Been reading about the lack of reliability and customer service from Irrigreen. I hope you have success with these and don't end up going back to a tradition,al proven system in a couple of years or less.
Yes, they also are EXTREMELY expensive because they know they have the edge on technology. But they have poor reliability and customer service like he said which doesn't warrant the cost. it's still a small company and they act like a small company. I'll be waiting for prices to come down. Hoping some competition too.
@@peterholdridge yeah obviously it would be nice to be able to get this product at a much smaller cost, like everything else in the world.. but I don’t see prices dropping much, even with more competition. I feel the cost is mostly warranted for the product you’re getting. Just my opinion. I’d rather pay the price tag for these and install them myself than pay the same or more for a typical system installed by a contractor. Again, just my opinion.
I’ve had Irrigreen for a little over a year. After winter one head wouldn’t pop up, costumer service replied, logged into my system and saw a malfunctioning head, and sent out a replacement the next day. As for the cost get a quote for an irrigation company to install a traditional system
Looking forward to your feedback when you have had some time with it, we’re not ready to pull the pin just yet so let’s see how it treats you this year. Do you have any pros/cons from your friend that you helped install the system was it a year or two ago?
Great video about what the system can do, but I understand other concerns about being proprietary and poor CS too. To those of you leery of something like this, what is your go to brand/system for reliability that still has a manageable install?
Easiest install? LOL looks like you're digging in the grand canyon! And that's without a lawn already established! Irrigreen needs to make an above ground hose end attachment for us mere mortals.
Way too many concerns with this system and I would avoid at all costs. Those small holes get clogged with any hard water contaminates requiring constant cleaning. Poor customer service has been mentioned all over - you're never able to get a hold of anyone and they never call back. You're stuck in this very small companies proprietary (and very expensive) system - better hope they never go out of business or you are screwed as this is all cloud/internet based and you can't go anywhere else for replacements. Head problems? well looks like you have to shell out another $200 for another head, assuming they still make them and are in stock. Computers/electronics buried indefinitely underground with pressurized water flowing through cannot be relied upon for that long. You are completely locked into this system - If anything does happen to this company or you don't end up liking it for whatever reason you are starting from scratch as the pipe layout does not work for a traditional system.
Yes, weird that all of the low-mid-subscriber lawn influencers keep pushing the system, but are not providing actual reviews - almost like an NDA or some other non-disclosure was signed. The fact that Pete has the system and has not spoken of it since his initial video is very telling. I experienced the same customer service and support issues as you and arrived at the same conclusion - the system seems very gimmicky and all-eggs-in-one-basket. Time will tell if the solution is able to stand up to the same wear and ear as traditional systems. Given the solution's current infancy - I am not willing to shell out a premium to be a beta tester.
@@thegreybeeexperience Pete is the most OCD, gotta-do-it-right, above and beyond lawn guy on RUclips. If Irrigreen offered even the slightest advantage over his traditional system, I am convinced Pete would be running it. I am highly confident that Pete is more than capable of getting WiFi to his shed - I have never seen any other obstacle prevent him from pushing the limits of his lawn. If WiFi is the issue, hopefully it will eventually be resolved - I would love to hear Pete's feedback on the Irrigreen solution.
How does this compare to the cost of putting in say seven heads in different locations on a system along with trenching and all of that? I would need 3 ,ones. Each with ubheads.
Hey Jason I have a question. I got blue heat love but I got yellow orange spots in my front yard. I water every 3 day I have put a fungus control down 3 weeks ago. HELP
Such a cool system but it’s hard to justify the cost, and then you’re locked in with this setup with minimal alternatives. I have 65k sq. Feet of lawn and it’s still easier for me to just swap a box of hunter PGPs from Menards when needed. Hopefully as the market grows the cost will come down!
Thanks for the videos. I ordered a kit last week and it’s sitting in my garage patiently waiting for me to install it. Not sure if this has been asked, but did you run thin wall pvc or schedule 40?
No you can absolutely not use poly pipe if you do not have a master valve. Even 100 lb poly pipe is not sufficient to be under static pressure, regardless of claims. I should know. I've worked in irrigation and run my own business. Schedule 40 PVC for mainline. NO POLY! It expands over time and will fail, even with double screw clamps on each side of the insert coupling
You purge the system with compressed air. It's called winterization. Ball valve shut off with a bleed cap at source, copper piping inside house to febco 765-1 backflow, copper to The field, female copper fitting to male threaded elbow or however you build it, it must be copper female thread to house the male threaded PVC fitting, schedule 40 mainline, to your valve box, poly to the field with double elbow swing joints. That's the correct way to install sprinklers
money spent on this system is $4000.00 doing it yourself and you are limited if something shorts out, you can not go to local supply. I can design a system that saves water bills 25%. the key is precipitation to the lawn and plants in a standard home.
Fantastic video content wise. But far more time consuming and expensive than an “Easiest DIY”. $7700, renting a mini excavator, trenching, applying 2 applications of fast acting sealant to pvc fittings. You’re looking at several days of labor!
Why would you need to rent a mini excavator to install irrigation? It is by far the easiest in ground irrigation install. A trencher in Bloomington is about $100 for the day. Can trench everything for this system in hardly anytime. Pvc primer and cement takes hardly anytime per fitting. If it takes several days of labor for this system then it would take weeks of labor on a traditional irrigation system on the same yard. It maybe takes 1/4 the time to install this system versus a traditional system. Expensive, sure. I can’t argue that. But the tech is so cool and these sprinklers are so accurate at watering it’s incredible to watch
@@TheLawnWhisperer Agree that the tech is incredibly cool lol! Also agree about the workload. Think I was just overwhelmed at the idea at the time without prior plumbing / pipe fitting experience. Looking back, I wish I could have afforded it then but had a wedding coming up. I ended up going with the orbit b-hyve spigot-attached sprinkler system. Trenched aIong my fence so I didn't tear up the grass and changed the pex from my from my main water line to the spigot from 1/2" to 3/4" and installed a water pressure booster 😂 Its no Irigreen but it gets the job done lol.
