In the demo of the song during the bridge where it says “isn’t life crazy I said now that I’m singing with Sean” she use to say “baby you have to forget, and I have to move on” and honestly thank god she took it out bc I can’t emotionally handle her singing that 😭 I choke up every time I hear her say it like she sounds so genuine and melancholic. This is my all time fave song of hers ❤❤
There is also a "second version" of this song with changed bridge. Instead of "We would play all day long "Isn't life crazy?", I said Now that I'm singing with Sean, whoa-oh" She says: "I guess those days are gone Baby you have to forget and I have to move on" And I think that this version fits more with the whole vibe of the song
I was so excited to see you reviewed this, its one of her least talked about songs. It reminds me of my ex . We both loved John Lennon and the Beatles. One of the last time I saw her in person after we broke up was during a rainstorm. She recently got married and everytime I hear this song my chest hurts and it reminds me of her,
I love this song so much in a way I can’t even explain… It basically captures the essence of this word from brazilian portuguese that is “saudade”, it means “to miss (something/someone)”. It’s a bittersweet feeling of nostalgia remembering the good things when you’re away from it, you can either miss and think about someone after a long day away from them even though you know you’re gonna see them again or miss something from your childhood that was so good but you’re not getting back but you still smile when remembering it, it’s beautiful but sad at the same time. It’s also described as the feeling you have after healing from grief as it becomes something we dearly keep in our hearts, “the love that remains”.
To me, how I see it, Lana was writing from Yoko perspective since he died and that explains why the lyrics have no rage or bad things, she’s reminiscing on the good things about the relationship and she’s sad because he couldn’t come to meet where they said they would cuz he was not here anymore. Especially, in the last chorus when she switch’s the lyrics for:”you said you’d love me like no tomorrow, guess tomorrow never came” I always interpreted as he loved her so much, until he passed. I LOVE this song ❤
This song also has an element of disappointment. Disappointed that this person never pulled through, they never showed up. And you've waited so long just for tomorrow to never come because this person didn't come.
This song really gave a brighter vibe about leaving someone, like you finally got a chance to meet the man so many years later and all those bad experiences became just memories to talk about. I think "Fine China" was also talking about being apart but in the opposite way.
I agree with you,how would you say fine china describes being apart in the opposite way?,I kinda took it as a song about all these things that were about to happen but never did happen because the guy gave up and abandoned everything in fine china
This is definitely in my top 5 Lana songs. It just gives off the same vibe as the Beatles it’s so touching and calming. It feels like a warm hug I’m glad it’s not very popular it makes me feel like it’s only mine. Thanks for the reaction❤️
This song always gave me the vibe from old days and that something sad happened. One of them (propably him) passed away due to something as war, a bomb or something like that. That's why tomorrow never came and she wishes they have stayed home, so it wouldn't have happened. Maybe he was coming back from war the next day and said to her to meet on that bench, but something happened and he never came back. It fits perfectly with all the album theme (wars, policy, dirty bombs, end of our era, sexism, tensions at country lines, etc). It also fits with Lennon lyrics. In any case, it's a beautiful song and is so underrated! It always gives me love and nostalgia at the same time. Thank you so much for your reaction, it's always a pleasure. You look gorgeous, and I love you makeup and hair! ❤️
Lana said, that she felt like she was writing this song and as she proceeded, it came to her, that she wasn’t writing about her, but someone else. And through that lens, I feel that this is about Yoko and J.Lennon. Bc the tomorrow never came… 💔
Also the bridge “isn’t life crazy, now that I’m singing with Sean” has a exact notes than part of John Lennons “imagine “ I remember hearing this for the first time. When Sean started singing I was bawling like a baby.. I love this song.
This one might be a grower for me. I haven't really delved into Lust For Life. TNK is chock full of Lana referencing the 60s and early 70s: The title is a play on The Beatles (John Lennon) song "Tomorrow Never Knows"...She tosses in a little Bob Dylan ("Lay, Lady, Lay"), another Beatles song ("ask me why"), and Elton John ("tiny dancer"). You got Tropic of Cancer. I think you might enjoy "Love" from Lust For life (Lana's favorite from the album)🙂
I always come back to a certain verse bc I just can't make sense out if it, it's "you said you'd love me like no tomorrow, guess tomorrow never came" but if tomorrow never came, it means the other love interest did love Lana bc they said they'd love her like no tomorrow (help)
Oh, this is such an underrated song from Lana's discography, and it has beautiful lyrics and melody. As a Beatles fan I love the Beatles vibes, of course. Yes, she references Elton John's song and also Bob Dylan with the song "Lay, Lady, Lay" (which she also mentions in Religion). She also has a song with Stevie Nicks in this same album: beautiful people, beautiful problems, in case you wanna check it out. The 60s/70s vibes are definitely there. I was touched when you mentioned the unrequited love theme. "You just want to love that person" 🥺 relatable af Still waiting for that reaction of Textbook 🥺
I always feel better with your videos, and reactions, for me, it's like therapy. Mer, you are gorgeous and I have madly respect for your work and how wonderful it is your way to express yourself.
I enjoyed watching you react to this ❤ Its almost erie to me how much Sean sounds like his father. His voice automatically gave me nostaligia for my youth as i grew up listening to lennon and the beatles. for some reason all my fave music is from the 70s and Lana is one of the few contemporary singers i actually enjoy. maybe that is becsuse she is also very influenced by singers of that era or because she isnt your typical 2d comercial pop singer.
i feel the need to comment on this reaction (even though i've literally watched all your videos) because this is one of my favorite lana songs of all time, i would listen to this nonstop in 2017/2018 and it got to the point where i got "lust for life" tattoo'd. i loved how sean was in it because of course i love lennon and yoko, idk i was so proud of her, and when you talked about how loving someone so much that it feels unreciprocated, or people making empty promises. i felt that, unfortunately. it's kind of weird because now the song is really nostalgic for me, but idk, anyways, thanks for reacting to this beautiful song, it truly is so bittersweet and i felt exactly what you were saying, and cried throughout the video even though i've listened to it a million times, thank you for a different perspective
You should react to Put Me In a Movie by Lana! Made me absolutely ball my eyes out because deep down, I know things that she's singing about is something that actually happens. Incredible to hear someone sing about it. Absolutely moving. Would love to hear your professional analysis

This is my all time fave song of hers ❤❤
Also instead of saying "we would play all day long", she said "I guess those days are gone". Which added an insane depressing tone to the realization.
This is one of the best lana del rey songs imo.
the accappela version is even better
EVERYONE SHUT UP THERES A NEW MEND WITH MERE LANA VIDEO!!
Her Lust for life album has some hippie and 70s influences... and she has a song with Stevie Nicks too called Beautiful people beautiful problems.
I’d love for her to do more of that album. I want her to do that song, and I’d love to have her do 13 beaches, Coachella , white mustang and heroin.
Happiness is a butterfly please!!!!!!!!!!!
YESSS
OMG YOU NEED TOO!
yesss
YEESSS PLEASEEE
YESS
In an interview Lana said when she wrote this song, it didn't feel like the song was hers. That's why she sang it with Sean Lennon.
Yeah, I feel that too. She seem to be the interpreter, this song is a whole vibe.
There is also a "second version" of this song with changed bridge. Instead of
"We would play all day long
"Isn't life crazy?", I said
Now that I'm singing with Sean, whoa-oh"
She says:
"I guess those days are gone

At 2:01 it reminds me of her song Living Legends on Blue Bannisters when she sings “Why why why why why why why”
Please do “In My Feelings” from the same album, I promise you won’t regret it.
I was so excited to see you reviewed this, its one of her least talked about songs. It reminds me of my ex . We both loved John Lennon and the Beatles. It is such a deep song and kind of melancholy. I get the sense you felt the same. Sending you ♥️

Someone else suggested “In my feelings” and I agree, it’s so good and I think it’s a nice one to react to!
This song feels like a warm bitter hug

Love this comment. It’s so true ❤
I had the Lust For Life album almost on repeat for over a year during a very dark period. Lana saved me.
the switch up in the end of the song is insane "you said you'd love me like no tomorrow, i guess tomorrow never came..."
To me, how I see it, Lana was writing from Yoko perspective since he died and that explains why the lyrics have no rage or bad things, she’s reminiscing on the good things about the relationship and she’s sad because he couldn’t come to meet where they said they would cuz he was not here anymore. The beat is bright but the lyrics are just heartbreaking
One of my personal favorites from Lust For Life❤ thank you Mere for the reaction🥹❤️
Just rewatched this reaction, ugh just beautiful thank you so much Mere you bring light to the day❤️

The fact SOL looks and sounds identical to his dad I’m shook lol, wow what a great song! I’ve never listened to him either!
I love this reaction. We always tear up at the same time, Mere. This song always gets choked up.

I think Sweet Carolina by Lana, is a very healing song, I believe you would like it. Lana made it for her sister when she was pregnant.
This song always gave me the vibe from old days and that something sad happened. One of them (propably him) passed away due to something as war, a bomb or something like that. What a beautiful song! For the first time I'm seeing its beauty, although, I've heard it before. Wow!
it’s insane how Lana is able to capture aesthetics and make you feel so nostalgic 🛐🛐
