this song cracks me up! it goes from so tragically sad and jumps to super bubbly in an instant then back to sad and tragic then happy again then back, and so on
I am also a hungarian descent.I speak a bit of my father's language...a pity he is no more among us..... And,yes...I dance this music,as I dance the csárdás.......You understand me,then. We hungarians are so melancholic because our land is so...oure beauty and melancholy.Nice to have met you,Sir..or Madame.
My brother gave me a collection of Brahm's music to listen to. This was in it. I fell in love with it immediately. Thanks for posting this fine performance.
Dear friends......that is music... .art....not important..Hungarian..Romanian, German...American...you feel that angels come down from the sky.....ONLY....Pls enjoy it!!!
It is time to put hostilities behind you because we are all humans regardless where we came from. It doesn't matter if we Hungarians came from Mongolia or from somewhere else. We are called Homo Sapiens. We all came from somewhere. There is a wise saying; " It's not where we came from but the goals we reach what counts.". Regards to all of you from a Hungarian living abroad. PEACE
why is everybody fussing about slovakias mad on hungary and so is romania look at all countrys for example Denmark.Denmark has owned norway, sweden, iceland and still have greenland and faroe islands as a colonie and still their not mad at anyone so forget all about it and listen to the amazing peice of music
Correct. Brahms pinched no. 5 from the main part of Bela Keler's Csardas 31 called 'Bartfai Emlek' ( Memories of Bartteld-a town now in Slovakia called 'Bardejov') For vivace he used an old Hungarian folk song called 'Uczu Bizon Megerett a Kaka' . For a brilliant execution of no. 5 see my upload of Labeque sisters Brahms stole no. 1 from 'Isteni Csardas' ( Divine Csardas) by Miksa Borzow.
@haranghy It says in the caption that it was directed by Vittorio Cecchetto. If I'm not mistaken. Liszt would be almost 200 years old if he was alive today, so I don't think that's him.
@razvan1928 Hungarian men's genetics 60 % EU-19,13,3 % EU-18,11 % EU-7 and 8,9 %-a az EU-4 the fact that 93, 3 % are the present Hungarian men may mean it four spring from a forefather, and 73,3 %-a the successor of men lived here in the palaeolithic age already.
+hkim222 I know this reply is four years late, but I just looked it up, they DO sound very similar, but I don't see anyone else on the internet except for you who has apparently noticed... and this comment was four years ago... so :)
@alinaakkawi oh no.... god doesn`t love us....he never did it, never and nowhere... and: we don't must love each other.... it's impossible... BUT: we have to accept each other... everytime and everywhere !!
Most people have heard Hungarian Dance No 5, and maybe No 1. But this one is my favorite!
This one and the number 5 are the two most beautiful hungarian dances.
One cannot be critical of this masterpiece other than to say just how wonderful any performance of this masterful work is. True Genius!
in my opinion the best of all the hungarian dances...
I agree Jack Warren
I agree.
Ilyen zene sookal többet ér, mint gondoljátok!
Garulálok. Gyönyörűt tettél fel! Tőlem: ****************
S Támogatom a klasszikus zenéket.
Köszönjük: Zenekedvelők.
Amazing sound for such small orchestra!! Here the Italian musicality is clear!!
Bravi!!!
I really love how the first & second violins are enjoying themselves :D

I love Hungarian Dance 4 the best, especially that minor sad mood at the beginning! It's so rich@ emotional!
gorgeous melody...i'm in love!
My brother gave me a collection of Brahm's music to listen to. This was in it. I fell in love with it immediately. Thanks for posting this fine performance.
Yet another fantastic work by J. Brahms. His fascinating work is really great!! One of my favourite dances !! 5 stars!!
Wonderful...Can't say anything else...I am Hungarian and this music shows Hungarian mentality and is so typical Hungarian...the mood and deepness...
They sound sooo nice together, I think they had to work reeeeally hard. I appreciate that you posted this video!
i love it! it makes me cry and remember my favorite teacher...:)
What an amazing Piece. Brilliant, exquisite. its in my ears, my brain, my body my soul. it is medicine for the unwell
How can't we cry or laugh when listening this piece ?

amazing sound for their size!
I played it with an accordion and it sounds great.
Ez is brillináns!
a szalagtűzés zenéje....mmmmmm.....
i really love it.....
Beautiful , thanks for sharing .
Oh! what a music!
love the opening!
Wonderful!!
magnifique!
Amazing!!
Amazing
Bravo!!
this wasn't Brahms' own composition--this is actually a Hungarian piece by N. Merty of 1865 called 'Kalocsi Emlek' ( Memories of Kalocsi )
Komolyzenében a kedvencem!
Dear friends......that is music... .art....not important..Hungarian..Romanian, German...American...you feel that angels come down from the sky.....ONLY....Pls enjoy it!!!
Wow cool
Linda musica!
Absolutely. Out of 21 dances only 3 were Brahms original compositions namely 11,14 and 16.
@cstamitz If I am not mistaken, Brahms wrote it in slow tempo. I find this an excellent performance, it gives a deeper impression on the soul!
Very underrated song IMO

We're playing this in my 8th grade orchestra in the spring(:
How did it go?
@atubbuta Thanks for letting me know that this performance is perfect. I had guessed that, somehow. :)
Wonderful :)
Indeed, based upon a very popular melody.
Hermosa Obra ^_^
Wow!

No. 5 gets all the attention, along with No. 1.
I want to be a music conductor so when people ask "do you play an instrument?" I can say "why yes, I play the stick"
Correct. Brahms pinched no. 5 from the main part of Bela Keler's Csardas 31 called 'Bartfai Emlek' ( Memories of Bartteld-a town now in Slovakia called 'Bardejov')
For vivace he used an old Hungarian folk song called
'Uczu Bizon Megerett a Kaka' . For a brilliant execution of no. 5 see my upload of Labeque sisters
Brahms stole no. 1 from 'Isteni Csardas' ( Divine Csardas) by Miksa Borzow.
Terrific song by Brahms. Not as famous as No 5, but I think this one is the best.
Agreed. 5 definitely overshadows 4.
@haranghy It says in the caption that it was directed by Vittorio Cecchetto. If I'm not mistaken. Liszt would be almost 200 years old if he was alive today, so I don't think that's him.
I love this one! But I prefer it a little faster.
my school is playing this 4 festival
I'm in 7th grade playing this in orquestra! :D I'm violin 2 though... :(
Go GOD. KEEP ON KEEPIN ON GOD.
I have to learn to play this song e.o...and I'm only in 7th grade....
That's better!!!
Ezúton üzenem miden magyarnak:
Büszkék lehetünk magunkra.
a very small orchestra but a very good one
Én is seretlek a magyarok és Magyarországqpedig bolgár vagyok !
Abyss of misery...mercy mercy mercy...
I'd say this is the darkest/saddest of the hungarian dances (although I have not heard all of them, so correct me if I'm wrong).
Why do I never hear of Hungarian dances 2, 3 and 4 on the radio?
@Kubika1997 Elnézést kérek, ezt most nekem irtad, vagy razvan 1928-nak?
@ITSKABIB OK, its not your fault. Here is the first step to make up for the loss:
I LOVE HUNGARY - SZERETLEK MAGYARORSZÁG !
2004. December 5. gyalázatának zenei próféciája.
Saddest thing ever
@razvan1928

the conductor looks like liszt, cool
clap clap clap
جميل
the inspiration for monti's czardas?
@xlegiofalco he isn't just look like Liszt, its himself, Liszt
( 2:59 - false note? or was it written that way??)
@djturbo88 Úgy legyen!
Modern day Franz Liszt as the conductor? :)
Lol
GYÖNYÖRŰ
Was this the inspiration for the "Love Story" theme?
