@@MattnUskaproper promotion and good advice for a start! She should never have gone on a solo tour without any fans! Her gigs were full of old men that spend way to much time online. She spent 20 grand getting to the gigs and flying in musicians 🤦♂️ She thought youtube followers were fans 🤦♂️
@ ya. I don’t really follow her all that closely. I don’t really know her situation. Just in general record labels seem like more trouble than good. If you’re trying to do some medium to big tour than ya, you probably want a label or a large fan base and a bunch of cash.
A long time ago a friend said, "Do what you want to do or do what you aught to do. Don't do what you aught to want to do." The musicianship is good but there's a feeling of safety that reduces things to OK. Even when you're talking to someone in a pub you want to be surprised, not listen to old anicdotes. Same with an audience. Surprise comes from what isn't expected, and that comes from the band and the song living in the moment, experiencing this unique moment, which gives the audience permissson to do the same. And that is what they love and why they applaud. That is risky. So we practice and practice, not to produce an anecdote but create a runway to take off on. Spirit takes over and the performance is airborn. Same notes, same words but the inflection takes on a vivacity of its own. And now's the perfect time. People need it more than ever after a diet of everything perfect, on tap and somehow dead.
Good to hear Mary singing out with more confidence now on this live tour. She is on the right track to 'pay her dues' and will end up all the better for it. Keep pushing yourself hard - you will get there Mary.
Great video Aled. I think we may have been sitting next to you in the front row. You’ve picked up a better recording than the ones I’ve seen from London!
Beautiful song, with each musician adding something uniquely catchy and compelling to it. The overall musical phrasing reminds me a bit of Ani DiFranco, but I say that as highest praise. And what do I know?
Honest criticism is it's OK. Not great. Uninteresting lyrics and lacks an interesting hook. Music goes nowhere unexpected. Nothing new here. Vocal range narrow and monotonous. Lacking stage presence. Low energy.
First time that I've heard that woman sing. I can recognise maybe 1 word in 20, so she might as well be singing in Russian. It's pointless writing songs when the audience can't understand what you're singing about, and have to rely on a song sheet.
Really like the restrained drummer. Been to some live shows where the drummer is just overpowering and overwhelms the vocals. Nice mix work. Lets you clearly hear Mary's vocals and the various guitars.
I'll second that, Pete! You can sort of tell that this was the kind of hall that would be easy to "over-play", and it's apparent that the performers and the sound person are all making an effort to keep things in check!
I had no idea she was such a bad singer. Her self produced music videos sound OK. She missed so many notes here it's amazing. She slides into many more notes than in her produced videos.
@@strings2wood The mix sounds really good. Her microphone sounds really good. There needs to be more fills in the background. She needs a good keyboard player and some backing vocals to fill the dead spots... and auto-tune. :)
Her pitch isn’t good in the low register and she often misses notes that are beyond her range which is her attempt at adding a change of feel or emotion. The vibrato seems like it’s a school choir or music school affectation voice with light opera trills and not a solo singer. She would be better sticking to melodic lines than the attempted cliche of vocal gymnastic stylings of X factor wannabe impersonators as she hasn’t found ‘her’ true or natural voice yet and is caught between ‘voicing’ makeovers.
@@strings2wood If she hasn't found her natural voice by now, it's too late. She has a lovely speaking voice. She should be a voice over speaker or a radio announcer. If she would read audio books she would get work all of the time.
She'd be better off doing it solo with an acoustic guitar. The songs are not band material. They're not dynamic, no creativity just bland journeymen players. She's a hard worker but no personality coming across. Shame cos she a nice lass.
Really cool song and performance, but from a sound engineers perspektive it is a very bad concept to not put the drumkit in the center of the stage. Sonicly that makes no sence.
@ Well, the recording obviously was made on the side far away from the drums. I‘m pretty sure, people on the other side heard the drums way too loud. And everybody in the middle heard the drums right heavy, when they should be center. Plus there. are parameters like time delay, which is thrown off. Unless of course, it was an electronic kit, in that case I rest mine.
Having now watched this once i can see why she didnt sell many tickets and wont in the future . Stick to youtube . Not everyone can be a live artist . It takes a lot more than shes got
So great. Really stinks that she lost 12,000 on the tour (see her "How Much Money I Lost On Tour" video). Man we've got to do better supporting musicians somehow.
Hi @EmersumBiggins she has brought out her first full album and also personally paid for this 8 city dates' Super Sexy tour with help from Patreon RUclipsrs'...
Have a listen to her album/studio version of this song. It might swing your mind. It’s got so much groove and it’s incredibly catchy. I’d say it’s poptastic which is at times my favourite kind of music. This version is great but it probably doesn’t sound as good as if you were there. It’s always hard to capture live performances for multiple reasons. However the album version is absolutely fantastic. Please give it a listen 🤩
Your music is lame your guitar playing is lame and you pretend that you are a star when you're just another singer-songwriter singing in the key of "me." Your delusion is costing you a lot of money
Plus she's actually fairly heavy/chunky for a chick trying to make it in entertainment biz... her youtube stuff is all "talking head" format where you don't realize she is built like a linebacker.
Much respect to this woman for goin' for it without the support of a label!
Seems to be the trend.
I’m not sure what a label does for you these days other than put you in debt.
Or fanbase! The woman is nothing short of deluded and should stick to making youtube videos! Her tunes are awful!
