    I have a Hammer C3 31 and a N4400. Both are GREAT machines. Veeeery precise, very accurate, very powerful and because of that, very usefull. I got the silent power version for the combinated machine and, no neighbor can say a word about noise.

      The silent power for the planer head is quieter for sure. Plus the finish on the wood is great and easy to sand.

    Hi. Great idea making the long auxiliary sliding table incorporating the machined table slot as a guide. Just found your channel you
    have a nice size workshop and some well built wood machines. Looks like you perform some interesting operations. Just sub'd. Tony

    They had my machine in stock at there Dallas, Texas warehouse and was delivered in a couple of days.
    Make sure they give you the instructions for making sure everything is straight. When they delivered mine 2 plastic things were broke, they have yet to get the replacement parts and when they delivered my Bandsaw I showed the tech and he promised to get me the parts over a year ago and would have a tech sent out to align everything. I went to the Feldar office in Dallas (50 mile trip) to address the issue, the rep said he did not have time because he was to busy working on 3 CNC machine quotes. Guess I am to small of a customer, only have spent about $17K
    I did not get the check list from them when delivered so be sure and ask. Also be sure and check for anything broken. On my saw when the blade is set to 0 degrees it does not cut straight when the outrigger table is attached. As far as the machines they are well built and love them. Service not so good.

    Great idea. How long is the slide on your Felder saw? What is the length of the board you cut with your aux. push board technique in this video? Thanks. Also, If space were not a problem (I'm in the shop planning stage now), what size slider and cross-cut outrigger do you recommend? I love Felder products and have a Felder combi (that "combo" in Felder-speak) machine on my wish list. Also, there is a huge jump in price going from the Hammer to the 500 and 700 series Felder machines. Other than size of the jointer-thicknesser, do you think there are there other reasons, such is higher quality, to justify spending the much bigger bucks?

      My slider let's me cut 7' length and my push board is 10'. If space was not an issue I would get the next size up from mine that will let you use the full length of slider to cut a 4x8 pannel with ease

    Hey
    Thanks for the beautiful explanations
    I would like to know how long the saw arrives from the time of the order?
    Thanks

      From my Felder experience on machine delivery. If they have it in the US it may take 2-3 weeks to arrive with a freight truck that has a lift on the back. Otherwise we are talking about 2 or 3 months (they will say less, buttttttttttttt). If they are incorrect on the Euro side with availability; you may have to wait longer. If they forget to ship part of the machine; it could be 5-6 weeks total. This was my experience years ago with Felder.. Martin is same way for 2-3 months delivery. Don't commit to any work schedule until you have the machine in hand.

      It took around 7 weeks to get my 510 bandsaw. same time frame on accessories when they are not in stock in the US and shipped from overseas. My understanding is they wait to fill up a container before shipping to the US.

      I love it. so easy and fast to use, especially for setting depth. I made a video of me using it. Just trying to find some time to work on all the videos to upload.

    Can you post a link to the track on the bottom on your board? I have a C3 31 coming to me next month.

    Hey sorry, but I was going through different Felder videos and am way to distracted by your shop...lol. I am about to build a garage/shop and am always looking at different ways to do things and your shop has my spidey senses tingling. So how is it made, how big is it, is it a steel type building? Is it slab on grade construction? Foundation? do you live ina climate that gets cold winters like here in Canada? if so, how does it hold up? Cheers

      The shop was a kit from Mueller Inc, they specialize in metal buildings. The shop is 18"x21" and not built on a slab, bought the floor kit and leveled on blocks. At 30 degrees F my heater had no problem keeping warm. I insulated the building with insulation purchased from Mueller.

      I would suggest going for the biggest shop size possible and then leaving space for expansion. Having a good saw, Planer and joining works space is what people should be aiming for.

    Help me understand, why would you need to establish a straight line rip on the entire 10 ft board for making face frames? why not cut it closer to working length first then just use the sliding table on its own for a straight line rip? Also, at that point, isn't it just as easy to run it over the jointer? much better dust collection that way as well I would think right?

    • @customallwooddesign2905
      @customallwooddesign2905  6 лет назад

      For me it is a lot faster this way, only takes me a minute to slide my extension board onto the sliding table and I don't have to lift a heavy board back and forth on the jointer, it is a physical challenge for me, have rods and screws connecting parts of my spine together. Dust gets around in my shop and have to vacuum anyway. Once the boards have been planed I do run the edge on the jointer when the stock is lighter for me to handle and at a width so I can manage waste better. before cutting length's. Also by running the longer length board through the shaper creating the grooves with a feeder prevents wayste if you get a little snipe on the end; better to have snipe on the end of a longboard than sometimes getting snipe on short pieces (something I forgot to do first ang got a nasty reminder when I ran pre cut parts - lol.) Your way works to, just depends on what your preference is.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 5 лет назад +1

      To run a board across a jointer of that length and keep it completely level is just as challenging. and would require some sort of support mechanism for the feed and for the output side.
      I have a large saw and fee system that allows feed in of long boards/planks and it only needs one person to operate it but the whole system cost nearly $25,000.

      I have 5 foot slider and maple im getting is around 7 feet , do 500 bf on jointer take me about 3 hours doing it on the saw with this jig it takes about 1 hour so yes it is great idea and works good , sometimes you can’t brake pieces to smaller lengths for example I usually stock up material for shaker style doors, full lengths so i can groove them all at once and than depending on what i build i cut them to lengths.

    You're lucky about your building. I bought and put up a 30' x 50' steel kit building from VersaTube on a really nice smooth and flat concrete pad. I've got LOTs of space, but ugh, it is comfortable to work in only about 2 days a year. Most days, It's an oven in the summer and iceberg in the winter. I'm going to have to spend lots more $$$ adding more than just the radiant barrier foil and thin roll-out insulation and add some serious (and seriously expensive) HVAC for climate control.

      I have a home workshop that I just had a HVAC system installed and it made a great difference in the summer. I have a commercial shop as well but it already had a system in it.
