Thank you so much! I’m finally going to get nepenthes villosa with this set up I got going from this video. I looked at water chillers and stuff and that crap costs so much money and it really discouraged me for a while.
@@joshscarnivorousplants6732 I don’t have villosa just yet. I’m still working on my interchangeable container to put ice in to where the fan blows that cold air into it. But I will get it eventually, after I test the temperature range of my method. Villosa needs 55 degrees Fahrenheit at night IIRC
I use a mix of sphagnum moss, pearlite, and coconut crotons for potting media. And I fertilize with diluted maxsea in the pitchers. I Don't adjust lights either
Can Flytraps, Sarracenias, and Sundews co-exist with Nepenthes in a grow tent? Or would that be too much humidity for them? What would be the ideal humidity if they can all co-exist together?
Yes they can! The only thing is that flytraps and Sarracenia need much higher light than nepenthes. Humidity is fine for them too. Flytraps and Sarracenia need winter dormancy as well
Looks like you made yourself a humidifier and not an evaporative cooler. It would have to be some kind of material that wicks up the water and then dries from that fabric creating a cooling and not just pushing more water vapors into the tent
yeah exactly my thought. just blowing water vapors inside. But still if it works it works lol. I would combine this with what other mate said in the comments. To throw ice cubes in the container for extra chill
When the ambient rH is approximately 40-50%, it cools 5-10° f below room temp. It will be more effective at cooling if the air it pulls in is more dry.

Great! Do your temps get low enough for villosa using this setup?

Great idea! So much better than having to use my lunch box ice packs lol thanks!
I used ice packs to haha! I used to have an N. aristo and i put it in a foam cooler with ice to get those cold highland temps.
Nice! Thanks for this.
Thanks for the tutorial 👍👍👍
Those plants are beautiful. What are you using for medium and nutrients? Do you have to adjust any lighting?

Nice tent! Thanks for sharing. What is the brand and size of the tent?
It is a 5x4ft 2 in 1 tent from CoolGrow. You can find the links to the gear I use in the description. The linktree link. Thanks!

Right, it's not a true evaporative cooler but it did cool the air

oh my god bestie this is so cool
Hey got a question does this work well to get it to 50 degrees at night
My basement gets into the high 50s at night (in winter at least) so I don’t really need one
Perfect! Mine gets warmer in the winter because of the heater being on. Should get nice and cool in the summer when the AC and evap cooler are working
How many degrees does this cool like if its 80 will it cool it to 70

Why not put ice in the container instead of water...you'll get cooler air that way
You would get cooler air but then you'd have to freeze a bunch of ice every day and that would be a bunch of work. I want most systems to be automatic
