Great viddy! I guess I’m going to have to invite you over.
Truth is, I pulled back from buying the dewalt after a dewalt service employee told me they were going to discontinue that saw and were working on a new version. That was a year ago. Not sure if there’s any truth there.
That’s interesting 🤔. Hadn’t heard that. Entirely possible though. Festool updated their saw for a thinner kerf to alleviate performance issues with the old one. This DeWalt is a beast on power but it’s just “different” enough that it’s maybe TOO different, if that makes sense?
Drew, now you just have to borrow the saw from Lee for the full comparison video with Milwaukee one.
@Wittworks if you want to slip Mr. Yellow into your future review let me know, be happy to drop it off to ya
Nope
Possibly just an upgrade adding Wireless Tool Control for their dust extractor? It’s happening with a few of their tools lately.
Great video! Another advantage of the DeWalt over the Festool (not sure about the others) - on the right side of the blade, it is flat so that you can run that directly on the floor or other surface. It allows you to make cuts like trimming the bottom of a door without removing it from the frame. Very handy when needed 👍
DAMN I knew that but totally forgot to mention it! I even came across a video of a guy doing exactly that but it slipped my mind to include it
but if you're right handed, which is most people breathing, wouldn't you want the flat side reversed?
Awesome video!
The thing that blew my mind (and that nobody is talking about!) is that DeWalt one works with other tracks just fine! I originally crossed that out from my list because I didn’t want to invest in a proprietary track system. If I knew that I’d buy DeWalt for sure.
Yeah a lot of people don’t know that. The track is proprietary but the saw itself is universal because unlike other saws, it has two grooves in the base. That’s also what makes it bidirectional.
Great review. Once I start looking for track saw, this is the one I will look at first. Thanks Lee.
Glad you enjoyed it Joe 👍
Nice vid, just one correction. Someone else may have commented on it. When you make bevelled cuts, the Festool and Makita do not cut into the zero clearance edge on the track. It’s one of their main selling points.
It sure looks like it would but I could be wrong. I need to try it on the Makita.
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks I own both.
Does the DeWalt cut into the edge on bevel cuts??
@@toshn4151 I don’t really know. To be honest I just assumed they ALL did, but many commenters have pointed out these saws compensate for that, so I’m guessing the DeWalt would as well, but I haven’t confirmed it.
I'm not in the market for a track saw, but I do enjoy watching the different reviews and comparisons to keep up with what's out there. To be honest, I didn't even KNOW Dewalt had a track saw! It doesn't surprise me, I suppose, but this is the first time I've even heard of it, let alone seen it!
Yeah, seems like nobody knows about it, which is exactly why I made the video 😁
Very informative. Great job Lee!
Thank you my man!
Math is hard. Thanks Lee. While I'm still on a budget for tools Once I get to the point of needing a track saw I will be going this route.
Nice review - also, the distance between San Antonio and Austin is worlds apart ... I am north of you in Georgetown... yet another world away. Thank you and keep them coming!
Come on now, when I lived in Illinois I used to drive that to get to a decent restaurant 😂
One of the main reasons I went with DeWalt when I was first entering the world of buying tools was the 60v battery system. I remember getting my first drill and driver set. Still have them use them and love them. Have the 60v circ saw and that thing is a beast rips through plywood like butter and has tons of power. I didn't even know DeWalt made this. I think going with this saw and the festool track would probably be the best of both worlds.
P.S. I really wanna get into the "red" market. I like what you said about being in 2 different tool families. Makes sense these days. Glad I came across this!
Is that the belt drive or the worm drive saw you have? I want one waaaahhhh lol
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks not the worm but the direct. Don't think it had a belt. It's like a regular circular saw. It's great. I have the Bora track and guide but it's finicky. I had to rip up some sheet goods recently and I took one of my first rips and used that to make an 8' sled for my circ saw. Worked great for the time being. But I see an upgrade in the future. When funds allow
Very entertaining and informative. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've looked at this track saw and I do like it for the most part. The only thing I really don't like is the proprietary track. Performance wise it does look like a great saw for the money. Thanks for the video!
First video of yours that's been recommended to me, I believe. New subscriber!
RUclips eventually recognized my brilliance I guess 🤷♂️ 😂 Thank you for the sub!
Hey Brother. Just wanted to take a second to say thanks for great informative video on this overlooked tool.
Thanks brother, appreciate you reaching out! Hope you keep watching!
I am subscribing to this channel. I like the content and the fact that your only 45 min away from me. Got to support locals!
ATX for evah! Where you at?
I have the dewalt corded track saw. Since the day I got it it sounded pretty rough, but man perfect cuts, every single time. For around 500 bux, I got a 52” track, a 102” track, 2 new zero clearance strips and extra replacement grips. But cuts until this day still perfect. Single pass cross cut through 2” walnut slabs at 45 aaaaaall day long. Edge boards, everything. I’ve used some 60v dewalt stuff and I know what kind of power your talking about haha. I’m seriously going to upgrade soon because of this! I didn’t know this was out there and honestly haven’t looked because my 4 year old one is still working great! Thank you so much man! And keep up the great content!
I'm subbed to your channel so go ahead and then make a video! Thanks for the visit my friend
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks I appreciate that, and look at those subs! Your awesome dude, thanks for the sub 👍
Really interesting for someone who consider to buy a tracksaw like me 😀
Thanks Lee!
You’re welcome, check out that DeWalt 😁
I have the corded model but it performs much the same. Agree with all your comments. I bought mostly on price but it was eye opening all the advantages you pointed out. I never considered the other tracks weren't reversible and the way the saw plunges was unique. I've always wondered why it doesn't seem as popular when I watch reviews of track saws and shop for accessories. I also have and recommend the router adaptor.
I use that router adapter quite a lot!
I bought a DeWalt with a tail about ten years ago. And, down through the years, I added an assortment of Festool track, and the accessories for the Festool track. Which are just unavailable for the DeWalt track. Another feature the DeWalt saws have is an effective anti-kickback mechanism. It works well if you have your track clamped down.
I’m getting ready to build a new house, and a tractor shed this summer and the DeWalt 60-V track saw is on the list of tools I want to buy before I start.
I do especially like the anti-kickback mechanism on the DeWalt - another thing I forgot to mention 🤔. It’s mechanical (rather than electronic on the Festool) so it’s always “active” so to speak.
Great summary of features - even though I am not in the market for DeWalt it is nice to understand feature differences. BTW for bevel cuts on Festool the claim is that it pivots and will not cut into the splinter guard. I never tested this myself.
No kidding? That must be on the newer model… I don’t think the original had that feature if I remember correctly.
It’s been a feature for a while I got my first corded one around 2014 and it worked that way then
@@spycedezynuk well I stand corrected 😇
Wow....great video! I don't know if "Big Yellow" is sending you any checks, but they really should be! As a hobbyist, this may have gone to the top of my wish list???!! DD
They are NOT! So sad 😞
Great vid. You got a new sub,
Now I'm thinking about buying a track saw for the first time,
A track saw is incredibly handy. You really couldn’t go wrong with any of the four I talked about in the video. Thanks for the sub! 🥳
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks Thanks. I could have used one tonight while making indoor security shutters in my shop.
Another great, informative video.
Part of me wishes I had known some of these things before I went with Festool, but I am also one of those corded guys when it comes to saws. Not because of any fault with the batteries, but because I know I'll forget to charge them and they will die at an inopportune moment.
I thought "battery anxiety" only applied to cars 😄
😂😂
100% the same lol
I have the corded version and I love it, I also was wondering why they don't talk much about the Dewalt track saw
Nice video. Wittwork just jelly of your obvious superior wisdom…😂. Geez I’ll drive that far just to have a good meal. Sounds like road-trip time. Subbed.
Thanks for the sub sir! You’re right, Drew should invite me over AND make me dinner 😂
I like your SawStop in the background 👍
I love that thing ❤️
Hey nice overview. I almost bought the DeWalt a few years ago but the odd plunge action and the battery placement too close to the handle were deal killers for me. I did not know it worked on other tracks.
By the way, not all track saws are created equal when it comes to zero clearance. My Kreg would cut into the rubber strip when making a 45 degree cut whereas my Festool will swing out far enough that it still cuts on the same line at both 45 degrees and 90 degrees.
Thanks! 🙂 The battery placement never bothered me but if you’re a lefty I can see it being a problem.
The plunge action is what makes it the best ot more natural
@@loucifer4205 I agree, just makes sense to me
I'm already invested in the Milwaukee and Makita platforms so those are the 2 options I'll be looking at when I purchase a track saw in April. But I will be getting my first Dewalt tool next month, a jobsite table saw.
Thanks for your opinion. God bless you brother.
And likewise my friend 🙏
I appreciate the attention that you brought to some of the more interesting features. As you pointed out there aren't many reviews of this DeWalt saw, but I wish you would have spent time examining any shortcomings of the saw, or issues you see with it compared to the other saws. Half a review is a bit disingenuous. I did love the "you can cut on both sides of the track without turning it around", just in case you need a board that's exactly the width of your track!
I kinda thought about doing a full review but really, I made this really fast right after Drew's video came out, and I just wanted to address the issue that the saw should be considered as part of the list of top-tier track saws. And you'll notice his was not a full blown review either.
There are a few drawbacks I could have pointed out, like you really need a 9ah battery to get the full juice out of it, and they give you a 6ah battery instead. Or that there's not much space between the battery and the handle because the handle is low. I didn't think the bi-directional thing was that big a deal when I first got the saw but on jobsites where setups are tight it has really helped me out. (If you move the track, obviously, haha)
I've used the Makita and the Festool. The Festool is waaaay too much money, and the Makita case is a joke. Like, pitifully sad. Jury is still out on the Milwaukee but I'm skeptical. It's the only one using a single 18v battery and the math just doesn't add up on getting the power and battery life.
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks Yeah Drew and his 30 min "quick look" lol.
Fair point though, I didn't consider how high quality your video is with such a short time to put it together. Excited to see what you put out in the future.
That double sided track is so smart, and a base that fits other tracks. Unreal that no one else thought of that. Seems like the move is to buy a second festool/makita style track for all the cool accessories out there, and along with DeWalt double track, then you've got the best of both worlds.
You couldn't be more right about the Makita case. It's only good at keeping dust off your cordless sawdust maker.
That Milwaukee depth adjust is pretty slick though.
But the DeWalt plunge mechanism has a Lambo doors vibe, so points there I guess. Haha
The Makita case makes me laugh! The bottom is blow mold plastic. What is this, Harbor Freight? wtf
The fact that you are not getting paid for this video by DeWalt is something I would be sure to tell everyone repeatedly.
DeWalt is definitely not paying me. I barely get paid for the actual work I do 😭
I didn't know that Dewalt had gotten into the tracksaw game. Since I'm already in their ecosystem, this is on my short list. Thanks.
If you’re already Team Yellow it’s a no brainer for sure 👍
I don’t have a lot of Dewalt cordless, but I bought the 60v tablesaw and the 60v 12” sliding mitre last year because the startup on my off grid solar system was too much and kept tripping the inverter. I have since figured it out, but I love the flexibility of cordless and both work great. The table saw is amazing with the thin kerf blade. I don’t doubt the performance of the track saw at 60V. Batteries actually last a long time between charges.
Sometimes I throw a Flexvolt on my mini-Atomic impact just for funsies lol
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks lol
I think a lot of contractors on job sites run Dewalt just because of the quality of the batteries. Even if they don’t, they make battery adapters.
I personally had issues with Dewalt batteries in the past so I no longer invest in their products even though knowing their bare tools are great quality. The one thing I would consider purchasing would be their planers.🍻✌🏽
There were issues way, way in the past with NiCad batteries for every platform, but that’s not really a thing any more…
Ok. I didn't know DeWalt works on other tracks and has a dual edge track... Interesting 🤔. Great video. Got a sub from me now.

RUclips 😉
I've been rocking the dewalt 60v tracksaw for years and I love it!. The cmt orange 56t blade is the best blade for it too! The parallel plunge action is hard to get used to if you are used to the pivot plunge that all the other saws use.
It works best on the festool track and I feel is a great value. The only cons is dust collection and some deflection I get from time to time. I even feel their tracksaw clamps are better too!
The festool is the cadillac in my opinion but the dewalt is like my pick up truck. Ole reliable!
Thanks Patrick, very good to know about the CMT 56t blade! I've been rocking the 40t on this one for ages. Dust collection is pretty good as long as you use the the DeWalt-type fittings. Their miter saws are the same way.
@Busted Knuckle Woodworks
Actually the best blade is the makita 56 tooth but it's so thin that I get quite a bit of deflection when plunging or on a long cut, it just veres away from the track and not so straight when cutting 3/4 and thicker material.
@@patrickkelly8596 the Festool blade is pretty thin as well, they narrowed the kerf when they had issues with their original design bogging down.
@Busted Knuckle Woodworks
Yeah I use the ew 1.8 mm tcs55 keb at work but the price on those blades I just can't justify buying. Price point is the cmt 56tooth and next best option is the makita in my opinion. Not to mention you can use that brass adapter and put those blades on a 6 1/2 in circular saw too !
Sounds all good, but I use track accessories, which you can't use on the Dewalt. I use Parallel guides for accurate repeatable cuts. I use track squares to keep the track 90 degrees. Also use the LR 32 system for quick and easy shelf pin holes and drawer slide holes. Easy of using my Routers on the track. Not having those capabilities is a deal breaker. If they had made a track that was more compatible, they would have more fans. I do like the idea of being able to run on both sides of the track, but not enough. You put out some good points though.
I did a review here on the channel of the TSO track saw square for the Dewalt track. It’s pretty nice. But I agree with you, the track is not as accessory friendly as the Makita or Festool. Fortunately you can use the Dewalt saw with those other tracks.
Great video. Thanks now I can stay with my dewalt platform lol. But seriously great video.
Thanks, really appreciate that!
I have 2 corded festool tracksaws. If I’m cutting melamine I use my Dewalt tracksaw. The extra power makes a difference. I use both brands on festool tracks.
Are you using the dewalt for a faster or a cleaner cut in melamine?
The Dewalt has less chipping of the melamine. I’ve spent a ton on blades trying to get clean cuts from the Festool but no matter what blade I run on the Festool the Dewalt does better with the stock blade.
I’ve used this saw with the stock blade on melamine, it works awesome for that. CMT makes a 56 tooth blade that is supposed to be even better
thanks Lee i will definitely be looking at the DeWalt track saw . i was thinking of getting the Milwaukee but the power of persuasion was too strong in this video.
You're welcome. Funny, my powers of persuasion have absolutely no effect on my wife and kids.
As far as I am concerned the Mafell track saw is the best on the market. Expensive yes.But the best.
Have no experience with that one but I know everyone who owns one loves it
We have the Mafell, TS 55, and Makita X2 cordless, and the Mafell is in a whole different league. The cut quality and precision is simply unrivaled especially when using multiple tracks. We have to be careful when handling cut material because the edges it leaves are so sharp they will give you paper cuts.
@@dcl97 Please buy me one and I will review the 💩 outta that thing 😁
In UK, corded Mafell is not as expensive as we assume. It comes with all the track and accessories. Buy with the M-class dust extractor, and it's a similar price to the lower quality alternatives that you have to buy the 'accessories' for. I'm saving up
It is not that great actually but ok
I realize that this video was made almost a year ago, but have you looked at the cordless track saw from Wen? It is supposedly a copy of the Makita. Uses the Festol, etc tracks. Comes with 2 18V batteries (runs 36V like Makita) and charger for under $200. Track is extra but there are multiple options depending on length desired.
I wouldn't use a track saw very often so it's hard to justify over $500.
Thanks
I’m not too familiar with the Wen but check out the channel I mention in the video @wittworks - he’s reviewed almost every saw out there including the Wen. You can trust him to give you the straight story.
Thanks to some guy named Drew. I just lost 16:11 minutes of my life and I am okay with that! New sub here.
My video was only 7:20 so blame the other 8:51 of lost time on the aliens 👽
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks The 8:51 was the time it took to get fresh coffee and get ready to watch. The truth is I really enjoyed the video and your style. Thanks for sharing!
And thanks for subbing! 😁
Great review. I'd like to see something about dust collection on it. I think though the reason no one talks about it is, at least in my area and online, everyone is out of stock. probably couldn't buy one if I was in the market.
It definitely has a swiveling dust collection port which works pretty well, although I must admit I use this outdoors 95% of the time so I almost never hook it up.
Regarding the beveled cuts: i own a Makita corded track saw and as far as i can see, beveled cuts work fine together with "normal" cuts on the same track.
However using the track from both sides is a great advantage. I would love to have that feature.
Yeah, that is one of my favorite things on this!
A lot of interesting points it really is a shame the Dewalt does not get the recognition it deserves. If I was not already deep into the red brand I might have considered this one as a alternative to the copy cats.
Of course you realize, all of us Team Yellow guys are secretly jealous of Team Red, and lust in our hearts for Milwaukee tools, and lie in bed at night dreaming them M18-fuled dreams... thanks for watching, appreciate it!

@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks thank you, he is a fine young man, and we are super proud of him 😄
I’ve been saving my lunch money for that saw and delaying all the projects that could utilize it.
What I’m not finding on RUclips about it is experienced operators talking about how they get best quality cuts from theirs.
It’s pretty straightforward. The instructions that come with the saw are pretty good. I am still using the stock blade and my cuts come out very nice.
Great video
Thanks 🙏 for the visit!
Being able to run the saw on either side of the track is cool, but it also limits the ability to have accessories clipped to the track like the Festool/Makita/Milwaukee rail design. That means no rail squares, end stops for router dados, etc. Probably a great saw if you don't need those features though!
That is a bit frustrating with the stock track, but knowing me and my OCD I would STILL have to measure it out and draw a line anyway. 😂
The GOOD part though is, if those accessories are important for you to have, you can just get a different brand track that does accept those accessories (Makita, Festool, etc) and know the DeWalt saw will fit on it.
This 👆
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks line or not, one of the underrated things I can do with a Festool track is run stopped dados on it with a router and end stops.
Yup, don’t even bother with the dewalt track when I bought the dewalt saw, all the accessories your heart desires ❤
Thank you. Ive seen all these "comprehensive " reviews and get frustrated when no one mentions the dewalt. I started with the orded version and loved it. The got the Cordless version and it's much the same as its corded brother. I always comment on these reviews telling them about tje dewalt. Starting to think there's a conspiracy to shut out the dewalt. It's a great saw and i wouldn't bother woth the copycats. Also the way dewalt plunges makes it easier on the write arteritis agains the pivot of the others.
Thank you for the validation. I agree ☝️ !
Nice video, Lee :)
Thanks Bob! 😁

Psychobilly Freakout baby! 😁👍
I really wanted the dewalt track saw to work for me (i was mainly team yellow at the time), but as a lefty, the battery placement was a dealbreaker as my hand didn’t fit between it and the handle.
Most track saws aren’t set up especially well for lefties but this one is probably the worst in that regard, so gotta agree with you.
soccer players should learn to kick with both feet
I guess that you did not see Drew's Dewalt Tracksaw video a couple of months ago. His main criticism was the double sided track and the lack of accessories - I run the Dewalt on a festool track, it works perfectly. I use a Benchdogs square and fence with a Woodpecker parallel guide, all work well.
I did see Drew’s video. This one was released in January, months before that video.
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks Oops, didn't look at the date, sorry
@@LickorishAllsorts no worries 😉
Thank you! I've been looking for a track saw and was shying away from Dewalt because I heard the dewalt track was different from the others (Milwaukee/Festool/Makita), but if Dewalt *also* works on those, then that's of no concern to me. Price is just icing on the cake. And I assume the Dewalt isn't made in China like the Makita/Milwaukee?
I believe DeWalt manufactures in the USA and Mexico.
I was wondering why Witt never even mentioned the DEWALT. I got the DEWALT track saw about 3 weeks ago for an even lower $579, with everything included that you mentioned in the kit. I was holding out until the Milwaukee came out, but once I saw the prices, it was a hard no for me. Not to mention I’m DEEP in the flex volt system now (probably 10-12 9ah batteries deep). I just wanted to indulge in the new toy that we all wanted to see for years. But at the price for the Milwaukee, it just didn’t make sense to me.
Nice! The DeWalt track saw is great with the 6ah it comes with, but really screams with the 9ah. You really need the 9ah to squeeze the 2,000 watts out of it that I mention in the video...
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks Well it’ll be screaming almost every time. My 6ah mostly get used for the dust extractor and DEWALT outdoor power equipment when the spring/summer rolls around. Another good point too: The DEWALT dust extractor (DCV585) talks to the track saw via Bluetooth. I believe the Festool and DEWALT are the only two that have those kinds of options as of now. Good content.
@@CardinalVibes The latest Makita 40v does that now as well.
I have run the Dewalt track saw for a few years. I have both the Dewalt track I started with and the Festool track. I prefer the festool track for the available accessories. As for the saw...it's as good as any of them and definitely deserving of being included amongst the upper level saws. I believe it to be the most versatile track saw out there. None of them are perfect. Each has features that are done better by others, so there is no best saw. Just which features are most important to you. But power tools anymore are as tribal as politics, so each brands fanboys will insist their color tool is best because it is a certain color. Makes it hard to find unbiased reviews anymore. For me, I want the best tool for the money and could care less about the color. Chargers take up no space and are a dime a dozen so I don't care about battery platform.
Great and thoughtful comment, thanks for posting it. I agree about the tribalism, which is part of the reason I made the video. Lots of comments here along the lines of "Dewalt sucks" which makes no sense to me. I just happen to think this saw is worthy of consideration among the other saws you see all over RUclips. Not necessarily the "best" in every way, but at least some out-of-the-box thinking with its design and implementation.
@Busted Knuckle Woodworks and you can't even argue with them even though you come with facts because facts don't matter anymore, just color. Dewalt has several new tools that outperform Milwaukie yet saying that on the internet will trigger Milwaukie fanboys. Dewalt quietly released a beast of a cordless impact while at the same time Milwaukie secretly redesigned their premiere impact without changing the model number resulting in people thinking they were getting a tried and true great impact when they were actually buying something that was going to fail them, in many cases on first use. Does that mean other red tools are bad? Absolutely not. I have some really good red tools, and some really good yellow, green, and so on tools. Anyone who chooses a tool based on color alone is missing out on some really good tools.
@@Ratheon1075 right on dude, love that take 👍
They make battery adapters, so batteries aren’t as important as they used to be; they the most important item, but they shouldn’t determine the tool
nice, I noticed he left it out too. Tell you what whether this track saw will be around a long time, or will be discontinued or whatever, but if you get a good tracksaw you won't need to replace it. It's gonna last you a long time and pay for itself. By the time you need to replce it, you'll be replacing a lot more so any discontinue argument, true or not isn't that relevant.
Great point! Models change all the time. Look at phones; they get discontinued every year and yet we keep buying them 🤷♂️
2 Sided Rail, Faster Motor and Compatible with other rails.... why is this not being promoted more! Thanks for the info, made my decision a lot easier, still being offered based on Dewalts site.
He later did a test on this saw. The tracks are not compatible with others so that is a good reason not to get it. Why is that a consideration? Powertec for one makes Festool compatible tracks at a fraction of the cost of Festool.
I only do straight 90's. I have the Wen and the 118" track (2 pc). Is it great? Hell no. The bevel is janky as hell. But for straight 90's, it's perfect. I set up my machine squares on the bottom and it's been great. Would I like another track saw? Probably, I guess. It's fine.
I have a few Wen tools (drill press, 12" disk sander) and they're pretty decent. No complaints. The price is definitely right, and at least you can get someone on the phone (unlike some companies).
It's actually pretty rare that I do bevels with a track saw also... I've done it with this DeWalt maybe three times total.
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks My money went into the Dewalt 735 because I work with a lot of 8 to 12' stock like white oak, walnut, elm, etc. I got a large bosch router, the dewalt 735 and the wen track saw for the same price as a silly festool domino haha.
I'm keeping my Domino. Selling it on Craigslist is my entire retirement plan LOL
The batteries really are the decision maker and how the power tool manufacturers use their tractor beam to keep you in brand. I’ve bought into Milwaukee and the tool only price gets me every time. I just don’t want a collection of chargers and batteries to keep track off and keep healthy
That’s why I call those discounted multi-combo tool bundles the “dime bags” of the industry. They hook you in with those and it’s really hard to switch after that. Although I’m a big believer in being on at least two platforms, not just one.
Why did Dewalt discontinue the brushes and the rotor shaft for the corded 520? Dewalt lost me as a customer, they walk away from their products snd also gutted porter cable after their purchase. NO bueno!
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks I’d have to agree, although I bought into a line of cordless tools because of the performance of one of those tools and there reputation. They are very proud of their other tools, just look at the pricing.
Which line did you buy into?
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks Milwaukee refused to buy DeWalt because of killing Porter Cable line there router line was the industry’s standard as well as there other fine tools there cordless were only ok. The majority of my corded tools are PC
Most carpenters i see on jobs, in chicago, have dewalt tools. Or even festool in some companies. And every electrician, virtually all of them use milwaukee. Wonder why that is? I use makita and bosch for big box tools.
I’ve also noticed that electricians almost always use Milwaukee. No idea why that is. Tradition I guess? 🤷 More variety in the other trades but definitely Big Red for the juice guys.
Hi, I found 1 thing wrong with DeWalt. its very difficult get get the battery out of charger or tool. Maybe its because I have small hands? any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.
True, the battery on this is kind of heavy. I sometimes spray the latch with WD-40, that helps the latch slide easier.
I love the DeWalt, but the fiddly depth adjustment and the battery position right where my knuckles go (I’m a leftie) are two things that kept me from buying it 🤷♀️
By the way, the plunge mechanism is the best I can think of. I like it a lot because it’s super ergonomic in contrast to the pivot mechanism…
I don’t find the depth adjustment fiddly at all - in fact I think it’s better than the Makita. As several other commenters have pointed out, the battery placement is not ideal for lefties and I’d have to agree with that. And +1 on the plunge mechanism. Much easier to handle in my opinion.
I bought a dewalt n small track here in wi then had the 102” sent to my house in Fla ..used on my roofing project n it worked flawlessly…however I’m at the cross roads now n I’m team red all day erry day n want the milwaukee plunge saw but don’t want to be disappointed..already got me wondering why they added such heavy track saw clamps with turn handles when the dewalt light weight hand clamp did jus fine…what else did the over do for whatever reason
One caveat you need to be aware of on the DeWalt FlexVolt track saw on it's peak power rating. To be able to pull 2000 watts from it's motor, you have to use the 9ah or larger FlexVolt battery. The included 6ah FlexVolt battery uses 18650 cells which in it's triple stack configuration has an approximate peak wattage output of around 1200 watts. The 9ah FlexVolt uses 21700 cells which will produce a peak of more than 2000 watts which will allow the track saw to pull to its full potential. You should try your own track saw with the 9ah FlexVolt and see the difference yourself. Also one of the reasons the DeWalt track saw is not very popular is due to it's poor ratings on review sites. Take a look at the Tool Box Buzz head to head review of track saws, it came in last place. The DeWalt was the lowest cost saw though in the comparison. But they also used the 6ah battery that came with the saw. If they had used the 9ah battery, it might have done better...
I do have a 9ah battery, will have to give that a try! Thanks for the excellent info!
Toolbox buss are Milwaukee simps
I've had the Dewalt for a couple years now and it's a solid tool
It may be a great saw, but I cannot find anyone who has it in stock, including online retailers. Availability is 6 to 8 weeks out!
Hmm 🤔 was not aware of that
😂😂😂 good review!
Thank you kind sir 😁
One of the main downsides to the Dewalt is the proprietary track, thus making all the after market clamps and accessories hard to use.
True... you do have to buy an additional track from another brand to use that stuff... which I'm sure irks the DeWalt sales reps to no end
One thing you failed to mention is the compatibility of accessories for the track. Any thoughts?
The one drawback is that the DeWalt track isn't compatible with most accessories that require a lip on one side to attach to (think parallel guides, t-squares, things like that). But since the saw works on other tracks what most do is to buy a Makita, Festool, or Powertek track to use the accessories with.
greetings from Europe! nice video 👍
do you know the Metabo cordless track saw? for me it is very interesting that some very common brands here in Europe seem like to "not exist" in the US, as the mentioned Metabo or f.e. Bosch who also has a very decent cordless track saw. Is this just the non existing footprints they have in US?
Both of those exist but among track saws but they are not very popular in the US. I suspect part of the reason is that a lot of the market here is controlled by 2 major retailers and they 1) have exclusive brand deals on certain items, and 2) don’t generally carry these saws in their stores.
Depends on the item though. In the US Bosch is very popular in routers, Metabo in nailers, etc.
A major part of the issue is that nearly all of the tool companies are owned by a few holding companies. Many tools are identical with the exception of the colors of the plastic and rubber parts, and the colored bits interchange. Porter Cable and Flex, Bosch and Milwaukee, same same, just different colors. And which holding company owns what changes fairly often. So, EU brands don’t show up in the US because the holding companies don’t want to compete their brands against each other. And some brands are at different levels in different markets. Ryobi, is a homeowner brand in the US, and a pro brand in Australia and New Zealand.
@@randallthomas5207 I actually did a video about this, it’s on my page. ruclips.net/video/16WAta5XFrc/видео.html
Everyone keeps reviewing/ comparing the makita 36v track saw that is pretty darn old at this point. Makita released a new 40v tracksaw. I wish someone could compare the 40v makita vs. the competition and see what happens. BTW love the review on the dewalt tracksaw thank you very much for the information.
I'd be curious to check it out but to be honest, except that it's running on their 40v platform, the design doesn't seem that updated.
I think Drew has a financial incentive to not include the deWalt track saw. Question is which of the 3 track saw vendors he reviewed advised him not to include the deWalt.
Funny, same thing crossed my mind 🤔
how is the Dewalt dust collection on this?
It’s perfect if you have the locking Dewalt connector, or one of those flexible adapters like they sell at Rockler. The dust chute swivels 360º. I mostly use this outside when weather permits and just let it fly though 👍
i have the dewalt and the festool tracksaw. the festool has the better quality and feature, but price is the deawalt much better👍
No question the Festool is nice but for the money and features the Dewalt is hard to beat
Pre-ordering and then receiving the dewalt tracksaw is one of the greatest tool disappointments I have encountered. In principle I agree, but dewalt abandoned it. In hindsight I should have bought the saw and festool or makita track. I kept seeing people use a track saw without clamps and was amazed because my dewalt tracks walk if I try that, there are also no TSO/woodpecker/or even Dewalt add-on products. Moreover, my saw and track were off, the more I tinkered the worse it got an 1/8” over 8’. I bought a makita 40v and will never look back. This dewalt saw got me over my batteries determine my purchase. I now use several platforms aided by Christmas battery give aways and don't regret it for a minute. Now I pick the best tool and not the one that can use my batteries and also don't wear a path in the concrete walking from one end of a sheet to the other
Man, that's weird... my saw has been dead accurate, and the track has never walked on me once. The Makita is a good saw. Just wish the case was better. I agree that people tend to get tied in to battery platforms more than they should be.
Forgot one more advantage this saw has that none of the others do. It can be turned o. It’s side and used to cut door jams. 🤷♂️
Yes, someone else pointed that out. I realized it after I posted the video. 🙄 Totally spaced it like a dummy 🤪
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks ah. Yeah, I read a few comments and more times than not? Slow to the party and likely I’m parroting someone a lil quicker than this ol’ phart 😂. Good video btw. 👍 All my cordless is Dewalt. Some call me the Dewaukee dude 😂

@@M30263 video was too popular I guess? 🤷♂️ 😂
Don't know how you got your saw to work on a Makita track. The anti tip feature on the Makita track prevents the dewalt saw from fitting. I had to modify my Makita tracks by routing off that lip.
Don’t know what to tell you. You can see in the video it clearly works. Maybe the design was changed?
Actually what we need is more depth of cut from every manufacturer.
That would be nice! Would require a larger blade, of course. Someone will come out with a 7 1/4" track saw eventually, it just makes too much sense to not do it.
Question, if somebody offered you, your choice of any track saw for absolutely free which one would you pick?
If it’s free? Festool TSV 60K with the scoring blade function.
idk where you got the price from, but makita kit is $549
Got it straight off of Drew's video.
Makita cordless do a 40v single battery
I'm aware. The 36v is the one I have though.
wonder why amazon doesnt have it
Who knows?
I understand that the dewalt has a special blade. Meaning you can’t get an aftermarket blade. I also heard the dewalt blade isn’t great. I don’t have this saw so it’s just hearsay. But since you do can you let’s us know if there’s anything to those claims? I do own the Makita system you compared this to. I guess i got it on sale, I only paid $500 for my kit.
Not true. I have run other blades on this saw. The CMT 56T blade is awesome on this for melamine. The DeWalt stock blade is also very good, and is the blade I use most of the time. It's a standard arbor size and take the same 6.5" blades as all the others.
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks thanks perhaps it’s the Milwaukee then, and I remember incorrectly
@@mwoody4560 Not sure. Haven't heard that about the Milwaukee blade. I do know, however, that their track is slightly different than the standard Makita/Festool tracks, which makes it incompatible with a lot of the accessories like the TSO squares and such.
They are well over $600 in the UK just for the saw. He has done a review on the Dewalt. Not good!
Yeah, but Drew doesn’t know very much about track saws 😂
Cordless is all good until time to replace those batrays
So you don’t own any cordless tools? 😳
@@BustedKnuckleWoodworks Yes I do. But I think for tools that can be used with a cord will in the long run be cheaper. Some tools need to be mobile.
@@michaelshelnutt3534 Most batteries last a good 6 years of daily use. i have some Makita 18v batteries that are 10 years old
meh.. the only yellow I own is a 2nd miter saw and an inherited jigsaw. not impressed with Dewalt over all
That’s why there’s more than one brand of power tools 😆. No one brand makes the best everything. But this track saw is pretty damn good and the Flexvolt platform is amazing in general.
For me, just a track that's in-compatible with Festools, Makita, Milwaukee, is enough for me to not choose this Dewalt.
Isn’t the saw more important? Who would buy a DeWalt saw just for the track then buy a Festool saw also to put on it? 😂
You got to click and the comment again how many times you going to change the title? The Dewalt blows.
I’ve only changed the title once. And if you think the DeWalt blows, you are certainly welcome to make your own video explaining why you think so.
So why don't you invite him to your shop.
He did 😀 just need to arrange a time
there is a reason Noone talks about this saw lol
People do talk about it but only on the Dark Web.
Best track saw is the circular saw you already got. Just set up a fence (clamp on straight edge) to whatever it is you’re cutting. 1/2 - 3/4 inch plywood works great as a fence. Just depends on the motor clearance of the saw.
I always say, go with whatcha got. Don't let the lack of some fancy saw stop you from building anything!
The amount of people that say this nonsense is quite funny
It’s not even close I do that on site when my ones not with me a track saw is so much more capable
I used to try justifying not getting a track saw too.
The clean cuts, the accuracy, the speed, the ease of use. It's been the best tool purchase I've made in years
@@Jeremy_810 boom 💥 there you go 👍
