    Make sure you hit them right and hard, specially on the corners, this will make levelling them easier, don't bother grouting them afterwards, you need to be environmentally friendly and allow a few dandelions to grow, That's my tips .

    as a garden landscaper i look at these videos for a laugh and this is up there with the best laugh of all. Some joke. where do I even start. I mean even spooning the sand out. for Christ's sake just tip the barrow but In any case he is doing a botch job. if using sand then it should be compacted and screeded on a compacted hard-core base. hopefully it was his own garden and God help anyone that employs these cowboys

    As far as laying slabs goes, it wasn't terrible, but what was that teeny-tiny wall doing there? It was high enough to trap all the water run-off and to make a lovely trip-hazard, without actually doing anything useful. Just... why?!

    • @Wtflolyay
      @Wtflolyay 5 лет назад +1

      My garden has that. No where for water to run off and is a hazard. And then it goes up to a diy raised garden I'm in the process of removing it all diy. Nightmare from last owners. It's like a pond when it rains

      Dont take any advice from these cowboys this should be a video on how not to lay a patio

    • @_tmmy_
      @_tmmy_ 2 года назад

      Depends on if levels allow, you could get away with it if the existing paving is much lower than 150mm from the damp course but if it’s within 100-150mm then the paving will have to come out and be replaced with the slabs. As long as the sub base underneath is good enough you could get away with it.

    • @jimjones8208
      @jimjones8208 Год назад

      @@RGK147 Have they stopped grouting slabs now, I have noticed a few lately not leaving gaps, it grows plenty of grass in between the joints.

    Not near enough whacked hardcore and blinding beforehand and far too deep sand. Mix cement into it 7-1 and then dampen with a water mist from a hose. Lay slabs without stepping in the sand and when they're all down cover with sheets of thin plywood and then pass over with a small whacker(,Large area ) small area just go across them all in all directions with a straight edge and rubber mallet the high spots.

    Roof tiles as hardcore Jesus!! At least mix in various other materials like old stone or brick chippings and mix in sharp sand to bind it. Mortar has to be wet with some body to it but not sloppy. Shouldn’t be laid on dry mix as they will move over time and rock.

      Rubber mallets are a relatively recent introduction, I still prefer the feel of a wooden beadle or club hammer handle, used correctly, nothing is damaged.
