According to Bill Pearl's KEYS TO THE INNER UNIVERSE encyclopedia of bodybuilding exercises, this called a Straddle Lift - it's very old, and used way back when machines and even benches and squat racks didn't exist yet

@dr.joelseedman the eccentric portion of an exercise is the part where the muscles are lengthening. Isometric means that the muscles are neither lengthening nor shortening. If you are doing an isometric, you can't be doing an eccentric and vice versa.

You don’t gain anything from the top half of the movement anyway. You’re better off going light and getting full rom than loading up and doing half reps.

@@anthonyedwards6331 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ It's matter of time under tension. You get the most muscle growth when the muscles are firing. You don't get muscle growth when they're turned off, which happens when you go all the way through the motion. Also, the top half of the movement is the eccentric phase and yes you do.
