    yes, I have known this for years. your either an artist or your a geek. geeks are hung up on specs and an artist will make any camera work even if they have many trial and error shots. pond5 wants 4k video because the buyer may want to use it to air on TV. but i love 1080p and thats what i use for my self.

    Oh great another “photo community” Be VERY cautious with that approach because I feel you got inspired by Thomas Heaton / Simon Baxters insane $17 a month “community”. Which let’s be honest, it’s a community for elites / rich people who can afford all their overpriced workshops and not for the people who actually watch their content. It’s $17 a month to be a huge barrier to entry and I’m shocked people haven’t left their channels in droves. So be very careful if you are going to charge for it…..because I can see a lot of viewers getting the message if the pricing is for a certain economic market.

    In the film era, durability and duty cycles were always the prime feature of flagship pro models. Bleeding-edge innovation was rolled out on amateur offerings to work the bugs out first. Pro models got very few iterative design improvements in their product life cycles that could be as long or longer than a decade

  • @ivaneberle3972
    @ivaneberle3972 День назад

    "The Best Camera" is often the one that most readily gets out of the way for unhindered shooting. Some pro digital cameras get this ergonomics question right-- others do not. Simplified menus and assignable buttons for the half dozen features a pro uses all the time are indicators that the product line truly caters to and cares about professionals. OLED EVFs that look as good as a phone (beginning to rival even an optical VF!) are a move in the right direction. There are big improvements in tech that are must haves, big leaps forward that come along once or twice in a decade that are game changers. Low noise backlit sensors, IBIS and VR lenses, 4K video with enough dynamic range to frame-grab stills at 60 fps. Incremental improvements aren't worth the system swap expense and learning curve

    Great video Rick, so very true and you've highlighted my biggest conundrum. I also plan to go out tomorrow, might even be back to a woodland that I can get to easily on my lunch break. Videos like this and speaking to fellow photographers are always what drives me to pick up my camera and get out. It's a bit like when I used to have a gym across the road from work and actually talking to co-workers about routines and exercises would spur me on even more. Although I think photography is much more enjoyable than the gym haha.

    You don’t really need the latest equipment to take great photos. Some of my best photos were captured with an old camera and even with a mobile phone. For example, I have a photo taken with my Galaxy S2 that I’m really proud of-it turned out exceptionally well despite being taken at night with only a cheap LED flashlight. This shows that photography isn’t about having the best gear, but about how you use it. If you can manage lighting effectively and make the most out of every situation, even a camera like the Nikon D5100 remains a great choice today and can be purchased used at an affordable price. I still use my 55-300mm lens, which I acquired 11 years ago. I’m considering upgrading to a slightly better lens, but this one is still in excellent condition. I’ve taken over 6,000 photos with it, and despite not treating it very gently, it remains fully functional, which makes me very happy. Currently, I use a Nikon D7500, and sometimes I feel that my lens is bottlenecking my photography progress. However, it’s ultimately not about the camera itself, but how you utilize it. Great photography is achievable with the right techniques and creativity, regardless of the equipment you have.

    As a parent we have duties we must carry out according to our status in life. These need to come first. And so I go to work everyday. Our spouse, eventually, will bring out the best and worst in us because they will know us. This marriage journey is the spiritual journey and it's how we heal our wounds, first by opening them, debriding them (sorry I'm a veterinary surgeon by trade) and then repairing them. This is exactly what the spiritual journey is and why it is so hard sometimes. But it's also what drives our creativity and gives it meaning. Don't be afraid of the hard yards, the rewards are eternal.

    Thank you for this video, just what I needed. I'm thinking about my online presence, what I'm going to do with my photos, etc. I usually don't really have a problem with going out for photography, and I often have my camera with me, and always my phone that takes more than decent photos. It's more the editing that makes me procrastinate. Because I have too many photos I think. I've already decided not to take my camera with me when the weather is grey, as I really hate editing these photos and they make me procrastinate terribly. Trying to say much in a few lines and there's so much missing, but I really appreciate what you're saying here and I'll keep it in mind. Weather conditions don't look good the coming week so I won't plan in a session, but I went out to take photos this morning 🙂

    Finally someone talk true about photography. It was all about learning aperture priority, depth of field and lighting and now modern cameras are taking this away. I mean, there is almost no need to know what you're doing apart from getting to know your camera. It does all the thinking for you! The theory and expertise are slowly being removed. A good photographer doesn't need 120 pic in one second unless you're doing slow motion. If you can't get the shot you want in just a few pics, you're not going to get it, simple. Modern cameras are dumbing people down, their understanding of what they are doing is removing the essence of being a photographer. Imagine cameras getting so advanced that a 5 y/o can take a professional pic and win an award when in reality it should be going to the camera as AI takes over. Sad but true.

    For stills I'm getting great results on my Oly EP-5 but looking for something with good 4K capabilities and PDAF. As for MPix, can do a lot with 20Mpx and higher can be a hindrance. Good glass is important though, pic a few good lenses and work with them. Really big prints - even building sides, remember that people will not be face up against the print looking at the resolution.

    There was a time when new gear mattered as digital went through an exponential increase in quality.... Especially from say 2000-2010. After that it mattered less and less and less with each passing year.
