Creabea Knitting Podcast - Episode 62: Lunan Day
Thanks for your podcasting and designing Becs..love to knit a couple of your designs..be great to see you go to your puppy when he is around as be great to see him when you talk about him..thanks again! 🎉😊❤
Last Homely House is lovely Kate is such an inspiration
Thanks for the update :) Love the texture of the Torrin! And the colors of the blue Kintra! So funny about the gap between looking for inspiration and when things start to hit you. I have experienced that too! (as a graphic designer) Happy New Year!
It's because people follow *so many* accounts on IG... the algorithm roughly alternates between recommended posts and people-you've-followed posts, but if you've followed 1000 accounts and most of them post regularly, well, that's 2000 posts that someone would have to scroll through (not always date sorted) before they might get to yours.
I love hand knit socks so I am knitting sock cuffs, two at a time, then choosing color work patterns from “Charming and Joyful Colorwork Socks”. They are all so cute it’s hard to choose!
Are there any advents you’ve done that you would really recommend?
AN EXAMPLE FOR GOOD TAKING CARE OF PULLOVERS IS LIKE WHAT IVE DONE:::: I BOUGHT 6 PULLOVERS BIJ BEL AND BO VAN DE SALE AND KEPT IT FOLDED IN MY KAST THE WHOLE YEAR LONG WITHOUT WASHING COZ I ONLY USE THEM FOR SHOPPING AND THEY DONT GET OLD OR MISHAPEN.....THIS IS HOW I TAKE CARE OF MY PULLS.....BY THE WAY I HAVE PULLS FOR AT HOME WHICH I TOSS IN THE WASHING MACHINE COZ THEY GOT WORN OUT...NOT THAT I SWEAT ON THEM...I NEVER DO...BUT I WASH THEM WITH WOOL LIQUID SOAP AND ON 30 DEGREES CELSIUS...
THE REALITY ABOUT KNITTED CLOTHINGS IS THAT THEY BECOME " PLUIZIG " AND WORN OUT OVERTIME AND NOT AS NICE AS THE NEW ONES ANYMORE!!! I THINK IT IS BECAUSE THEY DUNNO WHICH PRODUCTS TO USE WHILE WASHING....THERE ARE VERZACHTERS AND GOE RIEKKENS THAT THEY DUNNO HOW TO USE AND LIQUID SOAPS ONLY FOR WOOL NOT THE BAR SOAPS.
Just a question. Do you always get a reply on email when you have applied for a test knit? I've been looking through my email every day since I applied to Kathy cardigan, but just now realised that last time I got a confirmation email but not now. If the testers are informed I can stop wishing and hoping at least 😅
That Torrin scarf is genius - such a versatile accessory with just the right amount of texture to be an interesting but elegant. Shocked you’re getting shade for exploring the work of people in your industry. This is how we grow professionally whatever field we’re in.
Sooooo glad to see a sport weight sweater coming ! And on top of that one WITHOUT mohair 😍… phew !
I know this video is super old, but I’m starting your podcast from the beginning because I just adore you! 😂 And I have been focusing my knitwear design around affordable yarns for my 2025 theme and right now I am working a new design in Drops Puna and it is a Dream!! I also really like drops nord and drops flora! Another really good one more for summer knits is Drops Belle! I have also found an amazing substitute for spincycle which is very expensive, especially for those knitting the larger end of my size range! It’s from Bendigo and it’s their multicolor sock yarn. Their luxury base pairs really well with it too and works up like a dream! I hope this comment helps someone! ❤
Wow! I didn’t realize you were able to do knitting full time now, that is so awesome! I was just thinking how are you finishing all of this so fast! Congratulations! I’ve followed you a long time, it’s so cool to watch the development. Now I Anna be a designer too 😂
You are starting 2025 with a huge Bang!!! Want them all!!
I stumbled upon your video this morning when another video I was watching had ended and I didn’t realize it and I am SO glad about it! I am also a newer designer and your values are spot on with mine and I just thought it was so cool hearing your opinions and hearing about your process. It’s really wild how each designer’s process is so different from one another. I just really enjoyed your video and you’ve gained a new subscriber! I can’t wait to hear more from you ❤ 🧶
I love your designs! I’m just a very slow knitter so I have to be a little frugal with pattern purchases, but several of yours are in the queue! Oh my heart broke when you said the honeycomb cardi would be 2025 fall! But I will for sure look out for that! What a great fall knit. Also I need a video of you knitting. A sleeve in one day? Even before having a baby, I couldn’t do that!
I love the staffin sweater! Does it have short rows? I don't like it to close to my neck in the front. Thanks for all the great patterns you do. I'm waaaayyy behind with my queue!
Yup! It does. My beige sample is a little closer on the neck that the final pattern, I opened it up a little after finishing my sample.
Well, it's 3.52am in Australia. I AM in bed but i started watching this podcast earlier this afternoon snd just had to watch the rest of it do I'm blaming you for being a superstar lololol!! I still get overwhelmed when you bring out so many versions of a pattern. I say to myself, 'That girl! She’s incredible! She's a machine!!!!!' I don't think i know any other designer who is as generous as you are. How do you design all these versions???? So much math!!!! I have the Tolsta tee and will purchase this cardi. I'm a cardi girl!! Excited for Cathy too. Don't forget to look at the camera lens, not yr screen. Bye bye. Purchase time!!! Lu xx
I paused the video to purchase your Staffin pattern and the yarn to make the sweater because your sweater looks beautiful on you.
I love the Cathy cardigan, I have since you started it a few years ago. Can not wait until pattern comes out. Love all your patterns!❤️
Love staffin. Love the newsletter. One suggestion on the newsletter if your open rate is lower, include “Crea Bea” in your sender info. Coz it was just from Rebecca, I almost deleted it. Something in your subject line made me twig though 😊😊
I love both the Kathy Cardi, and the Torrin scarf! I can’t wait until they’re published 😂
Hi Rebecca. Lots of exciting projects on the go. I knit the medium for my Lenu hood (copying you 😝). Mine fits me perfectly and snug around my face. I haven’t done the icord as it doesn’t need it. I may do it later just for decoration if i think it needs it. Perfect for really cold days. I couldn’t put it down once i started. I have bought and downloaded the staffin and want to knit on that v soon. Just need to make my mind up on what yarn to use 🤔🤔. Xxx
Hi Rebecca, thanks for your Podcast! I am so in love with the new Kathy cardigan, i can‘t expect the release! Best wishes, Andrea from Hamburg, Germany
Hi, I'm from from the Netherlands. Knitting your Stick Season-pattern at the moment. Yarn from Bergère the France, Coton Mérinos. Sand-like colour "Sésame".
Ohhh klinkt heel mooi! Success ermee
When is the tides sweater coming😩😩😩 I cannot wait for that one!!!❤😂❤
March!
@ yay!!! I must have blanked out when you mentioned that one😂💕😂
I’m so excited the Cathy Cardi is ready, and appreciate your taking the time with each of your designs! I think it would be impossible for each design to be completely unique - don’t get caught up in the drama - just continue being you! It is your unique details and your clear directions in the writing of the pattern that has so many coming back for more. Trust yourself and enjoy the process!🎉
Excited now that I just got the Staffin pattern bundle..it will be a challenge but feeling I am ready for a textured knit but not cables..thx😊..also love your channel!!
I love your Staffin designs but feel you should be charging more for your patterns! The v-neck cardigan is just what I was looking for and I’ve be wanting to try Rauma Fivel. I always look forward to your podcasts.
I’ve been watching for the Staffin pattern since you showed it in a vlog. ❤ Absolutely love it!
Happy new year! What a lovely generous offer! I found you via one of your test knitters Becks in NZ..lovely patterns..keep up the great work! Love to give your patterns a go from the bundle! First time viewing so am now going to subscribe! 🎉❤😊
The Torrin scarf looks really cool! And thank you, thank you, thank you for including options in your patterns. It is so generous of you. I want designers to get their due, but there have been a few releases by other designers that are so similar, on the surface it's looked a little odd to release them as two separate patterns at full price. Your generosity and care for the knitter is obvious. Again, thank you. :)
Put me in the category of those who appreciate that you share your design process and work well ahead of release date. I am a monogamous knitter when it comes to garments so the fact that you share well ahead helps me to work the designs into my upcoming planned projects and budget for them (I have knit and wear 5 of your patterns so far with another planned to cast on soon ). Having said that, you need to do what makes sense for you as a designer and person with a busy life. Love your work - keep it coming🙂
I have yarn coming in tomorrow for the Staffin, but now I'm unsure if I want to knit it in the brown yarn I ordered for it (hopefully, I guessed the right amount) or the gray yarn I have for a different project. Either way, I'm definitely excited to cast it on.
Love your new Cardigan pattern ❤
OMG the Torrin scarf is exactly what I've been looking for...IMO the ever popular sophie is just too simple but I'm loving the dip stitch alternations to make this gorgeous pattern...the cashmere I have in stash is crying to be turned into a Torrin!
did you already choose the testers for the Torrin?
Congrats on the Staffin release. I am excited to have it in my library. Wow- those charts in the cardigan pattern! I appreciate the value your patterns provide. I can tell a lot of thought and care goes into your designs.
I love that you include bust shaping! As a size F, I always have to look for patterns with no designs across the bust area so I can include some short rows to accommodate the girls. Does the Staffin have options for bust shaping? I’m looking forward to starting my Tolsta tee when it warms up a bit.
It's something I'm trying to use more readily, especially for garments designed to be close-fitting. Staffin doesn't have bust shaping.
Love the kathy! Sadly I don’t have time to commit to a test knit right now, but look forward to knitting it!
Please make a cardigan with the Torrin pattern <3
I’m already thinking how it would work in a yoke!
As a canadian it's always funny to hear other people talk about the weather. I was excited because today was finally warmer and it was around -4c (last week has all been under -10c)
Totally get this! It's all relevant I suppose. We're not used to extended times of below-freezing and our houses and infrastructure aren't built for it, so those chilly temps hit hard.
@@the.creabea Yeah they must! My parents have a cabin that isn't well-isolated and the heat pump stops working when it gets below -10c and even with the woodstove it's hard to keep that tiny place warm haha
Cannot wait for the Staffin! But definitely think you should be charging more for your patterns when you’re offering that much in each one!!
You have such an amazing design brain and great positive energy and generosity of spirit. I truly believe that the generosity and positivity you throw out in the knitting design world will come back to you many fold even if there are the inevitable ebbs on Instagram etc. You do you so well - don't doubt yourself!
I love a chatty episode! I applied for the Torrin Scarf test knit, i have an interesting yarn from a mystery box that I think would make for a charming spring scarf in that design!
I wish I could knit faster! I purchased the Staffin shawl pattern and haven’t even started it! I’m going to purchase the new pattern because I really want to support you. Please know that it isn’t a lack of desire, but a lack of skill and time! 💕
Bust shaping!!! Woot! Woot!
Happy New Year! Thank you for the newsletter discount on Staffin! I’m excited to get started, I just need to decide which of the 3 that I want to knit first. Thanks again!
Lovely to see you again. I’ve ordered the Staffin pattern and can’t wait to get going on it. Would love to make the Kathy cardigan but won’t apply to be a tester - I’ll wait for the release. It’s beautiful 😍
I think there are pluses and minuses to showing new patterns before they are released. On the plus side, take Kintra for example, showing it early has brought about so much interest and so many people are now waiting for it. I’ve saved one of my advents especially for Kintra, whereas if I hadn’t of known about it until release chances are I would have made something else with that advent. I’m am very excited for Kintra. I really enjoyed having yarn advents this year for the first time, but I didn’t want to make a shawl, blanket or any other type of accessories with it. I had been looking around for a garment that I could work the advent into, but nothing was really interesting me, until I saw your Kintra. I’m happy to wait patiently for the official pattern release though 😅
That's such a good point! DEfinitely plusses to both sides. I'm SO excited for Kintra too. I can't seem to stop knitting them.
So nice to see you back. I love your new pattern, just bought it, don't know yet when I'll get a chance to knit it but I am looking forward to knitting the Vneck cardigan. I am glad to know you had some rest finally ....
