I’m obsessed with the dark green colour of the half texture jacket! Also, that Christmas song has been playing in my head on a permanent loop since yesterday.
It's Vams in Green Melange! It was out of stock for weeks and I kept wondering if I should give in and order another colour but I'm so pleased I was patient!
I've never heard the Christmas song that you play in your Vlogmas videos but you now have me singing along and I've downloaded the song - lol Enjoy your trip!
Hi Rebecca, that whitish Kathy is looking gorgeous. I'm not much of a fuzzy/mohairy person but that one looks soooo nice. Love from our house to yours xx
Hi Rebecca, really enjoying your Vlogmas. When is the Kintra sweater being released again please, you may have mentioned but I have missed it if you did 🙈
Did you watch @akanoraknits today???? She is talking about doing one of your sweaters. Ok...just wanted you to know. Will catch up on your video after work tonight. I think after I finish the socks I am working on I might cast on a Tolsa tee. Loving your daily vids!
I think that Ann Budd deserves an apology, I feel that you disrespected her, first in saying that her book was written in 1950 and laughing about it when you realized that was her birth year which is ageist, then in announcing that the patterns were all ugly. Ann is a well respected knitwear designer and author in the industry and has decades of experience. You have only been knitting for a few years and in barely 2 or three years, announced yourself as a knitwear designer after releasing one pattern, without any formal training in the fiber arts. I recall episodes where you have not known the name of basic stitches or techniques. So if you intend to have, this as your full-time job, I suggest you do a lot more studying and research the history of knitting, and the leaders in the fiber arts who came before you.
I meant absolutely no offence. I shared about the book because I find it such a wonderful resource and thought others would like to The opening page of the book read, "Copyright, Ann Budd, 1953" and my first thought was that it was the publication year. I've never before seen someone's birth year in a copyright statement, hence my confusion. I'm quite confident I said that the patterns were dated, not ugly. They're over a decade old and fashions have changed. I am a knitwear designer. I design and publish patterns professionally. I don't know the name of every stitch I've ever knit. But I research my patterns, have them tech edited by two professionals and have them test knit widely. They fit well and they're written well. I think that's what it means to be a pattern designer. But very evidently, by me sharing one of the many resources I read I am in fact doing the studying and researching you suggest, but I would also claim that it's gatekeeping like this that prevents people accessing knitting and opening up a wonderful new hobby for themselves. I'd like to think that a prolific designer such as Ann Budd, who does extensive teaching on knitwear design for those with no professional experience, would encourage and support new designers.
I should also add that like Ann Budd, I too learned to knit as a child. Ann Budd also has no formal training in the fibre arts (although she does have a masters degree in Geology). We all start somewhere!
That blue stick season jacket!!! ❤ Also your new design is working up beautifully!
Christina and Tad always make me laugh on Chelsea Yarns Vlogmas! Their “minutiae” is hilarious. 🤣 love your knitting process.
I am loving both of your new sweaters! The colorwork yoke and the cardigan. Beautiful.
