With all due respect, I use the terms Restricted, non-restricted and prohibited because those are the recognized nomenclature from the Firearms Act. I agree that those terms are outdated and make no sense to the user or law maker however, terms such as long guns etc are colloquialisms and not legally recognized unless describing a firearm within a category. Firearms do not get reclassified because people identify flaws and inconsistent laws BCL introduced a firearm promising an unrestricted firearm before it was classified by the FRT, all new firearms go through this process. The Firearms Act needs to be completely re-written and we need to remove non elected “officials” from the classification process. The WK -180 is an AR-18, and yet unrestricted because it does not share operating properties with the AR-15

Firearms manufactures have to submit specifications that are compared against criteria use for classification prior to commercial release so having the classification arrive a year later seems extremely odd.

@@timfranz9337it happens, just as a firearm designation may change during production or release. Just look at Swiss arms.

Sir I believe in this example the firearm is manufactured in a foreign country where it met the criteria for marketability. So the process is a classification after importation rather than an approval in the host country. There are multiple examples of firearms in this scenario where imported firearms are subjected to back logged classifications. I believe this is due to importers acquiring approved products in international markets and no current restrictions or prohibitions on the item. Then attention is drawn to the items Warranting further investigation. Inciting increased interest by both sides in this item.

I agree 100%, I don’t understand how the RCMP are allowed to categorize firearms using a table that was designed to help identify types of firearms. 🤷‍♂️

Well so far so good. Thanks for the concern and I think we can all learn a bit from this experience, I know I did. Our Firearms Act needs a complete redo and we need to address the way it is administered.

Yeah I gotta say I’m not a fan of the magazine, feels cheap. Might have to drop it in an MDT chassis that changes the mag setup. I’ll be on watch for the firing pin issue, so far I’ve fired about 50 without issue. 👍

The HMR doesn’t seem to suffer the same bedding issues with the sloppy recoil lug as the wilderness terrain. I think at this point we’ve fired 40 or so rounds through it and it groups really well with no fliers. My only critique would be the weight, I think there might be some better options for hunting. Tikka and Weatherby both put out quite a few left hand models and you can’t argue with the accuracy. Another budget friendly option might be RA gen 2 or Savage 110. If you’re primarily bench shooting with the occasional hunt the HMR is a great choice depending on your fitness level 😜

Yeah I hear you, the is a valid reason people choose Tikka, out of the box accuracy, no frills, not the prettiest gal at the bar but she knows how to dance 😜

Arken Optics are really hard to find here in Canada (on the shelf that is), I recently spent 2 weeks trying to find one within a 150km radius and no luck, so I settled on a vortex. Tikkas are pretty affordable however, you don’t get much as far as bells and whistles. What is your next “bing bang”?

@@theguywithbeardgunsandgear I actually thought Arken only sold from their website. I've never seen them on store shelves even here in the 406. I'm saving for an H&K SP5. I know there are clones out there for much cheaper, but I view it as an investment (not unlike gold) that will hopefully hold or appreciate it's value over time. Not to mention being hella fun to shoot.

I love MDT gear and have been looking hard at their gear for this very rifle. Will have to wait and see what Santa brings lol. Tikka rifles shoot!

One is the AR-15 platform the other is based on the AR-18. That’s it that’s the only reason, politician sees news in US and knee jerks to please the ignorant voter. 🤷‍♂️

They are excellent rifles and yes like you said a bit pricey for what you get (no scope mount, no treaded barrel) just a fine action. Turns out my .223 like the “heavier” grain projectiles, not surprising with the “aggressive” 1 in 8 twist. I was so close to grabbing the .308 😁.

@@Erik7prc interesting, basically the same as what I had to do to mine. The recoil lug was really bad, way too much slop and the bedding job greatly improved the groups. I’ve managed .40 ish consistently with it. It did take some time to figure out what rounds it liked, 140 BTHP match and 143 ELD X seem to be the best. As for the bipod I guess it depends on what type of shooter you are, I don’t “load up” the bipod when I shoot so I’ve never had an issue with the “wiggle” on the Magpul. I might try without though, now I’m curious. Thanks for sharing and glad you got the 7mm figured out, they’re great looking rigs.

@theguywithbeardgunsandgear es sir!! I like 175 eldx at distance [725y] but for groups [100y] seems like 180 eldm better. I had a bench rest shooter shoot the rifle, and he told me right away to get rid of the rifle as it was not stable. I never thought I would spend 460$ WB4 on bipod in my entire life. SR5 is a great option too! Got rid of the 2 swivel studs and bought an Atlas 4" flush cup picatinny rail and bought two 10-32x3/4 screws. ! The harris bipod itself was rigid, but how it mounted to 1 swivel stud was not. It flexes regardless of how tight you turn the knob. Since I'm shooting a magnum cartridge It made more sense for it to be a bit more rigid. But if you're getting thos .4 groups now you're good!. Trust me I didn't want to spend that kind of money on a bipod😐. It hurt and traumatized me. I experienced a range of emotions after i ordered it 😄😆😭😫😐😁

@@Erik7prca “Range” of emotions haha get it? Yeah those 7mm cartridges do a bit more pop than the creedmore. I hate sling swivel studs for bipod mounts for a range gun. I would try one though if it was gifted to me😅.

@@canadianoperator I might have to buy some more they really shoot well. As I thought the heavier grain rounds make a big difference, I’ve got some reloading to do to really find its “groove” but yeah really impressed so far.

@@dirkpit8010 I agree that the cold hammer forged barrels seem to be more accurate right out of the box, I’ve got a Tikka that was literally unbox, mount scope and shoot sub MOA. This B-14 has been a bit of a project and I think I got it figured out now. (After a bedding job). I kind of like tinkering but it drove me nuts to start with. 😜

Yeah I got it figured out eventually, it was a sloppy recoil lug. I did a bedding on it and it improved 110%. I’m getting .43 ish, it likes the heavier grains. I think with a better scope it would really tighten up.

They are very good, tried a few and accuracy was impressive. 👍

I really like the K9, it’s pretty similar to the PC9 in function but I think the K9 looks better 😁

Unless you have some AR-15 pistol mags but they top up at 10. It’s not great but that’s where we’re at. 😢

I’d like to get an actual velocity read on it and see how much better it is.

@@khalidjaii2 it is a fantastic rifle but for walking through the woods I would say there are better options, less expensive rifle that are very accurate and more suited to hunting. If you’re going big game (deer) 6.5 creedmoor is a great cartridge. It really depends on the area you’re going to hunt (ranges you’ll shoot) is it open or closed. The Tikka lite is a great rifle, Savage 110 as well as Ruger American. Hunting is a fantastic tradition you’ll love it.

I’m not sure about other provinces, Quebec requires larger than .240 however Ontario regulations state “Center fire rifle) that’s it. I don’t think it’s the best option of cartridge to secure an ethical kill however, I did shoot a 4 point with 75 grain .223 Hornady Black and it went 25 yards max. I hunt in very closed areas with a couple of openings near the stand that are max 80 metres, it was very effective given that scenario. I have some American buddies that hunt deer with .223 all the time in OK and TX not sure if their deer get as big as some of ours. I also shot a monster of a 10 pt last fall with 7.62x39 similar setup for shot and it went 15 feet and dropped. I think shot placement is the key, as a side note I know people that hunt deer with a 30-06 and 185gr🤷‍♂️

@@LeonardoSeiytiyeah that would do it, I would personally check out the Ruger Ranch 7.62x39, I did a video on it. It is one of my favourite firearms and way more accurate than it should be.

Yeah, unfortunately our government has already limited the market by reclassifying so many firearms prohibited that it may be too late. Unless you’d like to stock up on some single shot options 😁

There are some ridiculous laws and rules for “our protection” 🥲. Pretty hard to claw that back now.
