I believe it's called the "hunter" because the Magpul chassis that it comes with is Magpuls Hunter Chassis. I have the Cabela's exclusive model 110 with a 22" barrel in 6.5 Creed. The thing is a laser beam. 8 inch steel at 500 yards is childs play. Looking forward to stretching it out more. One thing I will knock this rifle for the accu trigger. I love it but there is an issue with them. If you don't depress the blade fully you can still pull the trigger but the firing pin does not engage the primer. After realizing the blade must be fully depressed and proper finger placement, I've not had a "missfire" since. The trigger needs to be pulled directly back and not from the side. FWIW, I have mine set to just under 2lbs and the issue could be exacerbated by that light setting I adjusted it to.
I know it’s definitely marketing trying to work smith a name to attract a potential buyer. I’ve never had a problem or any issue with the “accutrigger” but I like mine a little heavier so that might be “it” like you say. And yes they shoot😁
First time I brought it to the range I was really impressed, .5” grouping at 100 yards with .308 federal premium trophy bonded tip 180 grain. I put a HAWG mb on it and looks and feels good too. I will bring it deer hunting for sure don’t mind the weight , mine fully dressed is 10lbs😅
10 lbs fully dressed isn’t too bad, I really like the feel of it. It has a great balance but IMHO it’s more suited as a range gun, only because I have better options 😜
In my opinion you kind of nailed it. For me it checked a lot of boxes and from a military background I like my firearms to look tactical. It's my introduction to shooting over 500 yards and so far I think it's awesome. Weight is fine for me I'm currently waiting on a suppressor and looking at a more chonk optic. I think it'll be a nice shooting season regardless of what's down range.
Thanks, it’s a very budget platform for range shooting. I wish we could have suppressors, govt thinks we’ll all become assassins lol. Have fun with it, currently looking for a decent comparison rifle to go head to head.
" from a military background I like my firearms to look tactical. " If you were ACTUALLY from a military background, you wouldn't give a shit about how it "looks" because that's not what makes something tactical. But you live that POG life the best way you can, kid.
@@CharmingHostilities nice. I'm no longer a USMC vet because i was trained on modern platforms. Noted. I'll make sure to hand in my ribbon stack next time I'm at the VA. 👍🏼Then I can go get a wooden muzzle loader like a true grunt man. Maybe spend less time worrying about people on RUclips and working on building something nice for yourself. I'll be in the woods running talking guns in my library voice. 🧐
It’s actually my brothers rifle, he hasn’t hunted it yet as it is a chunky boy (12-13lbs), thank god he has other options but it is a great affordable shooter for sure.
To long winded about nothing. At 3min I'm commenting. OK I bought an (entry level) model 110 in 270 from Walmart 20 some years ago with a Simmons scope. I've shot dozens of deer here in GA and never chased one more than 20 yards. It's the most accurate rifle for the "entry level" package deal at $369.
@@dougbell8231 the savage model 110 is a tried and true budget hunter. I specifically addressing the magpul “hunter” stock which brings this beefy boy to 11 lbs, not a great move for a hunter. 🤔

If it is heavy that is good incentive to go to the gym!
Why not go to the gym and choose a lighter rifle🤔
@@theguywithbeardgunsandgear haha, I guess that is another option!
@@bartdaw6681I do like a solid rifle when shooting but also like a slick and light rig easy to shoulder such as the Ranch 😊
Love the rifle, taken it out hunting a few times. No issue with performance but you better be fit having to carry all your gear and this thing around.

Nice. You are right, a bit heavy.
Yeah it’s a nice rig, great range gun. I have a Bergara that is similar I haven’t hunted it just because I have lighter options😅
Metal trigger guard?
I don’t think so, a good part of the stock is a polymer, I doubt it’s metal. I will verify though. 🤔
