    I still like my kehin on my 250 better than the mikuni it came with even after the jet block gasket and jd specs. Mikuni is still better than tpi/tbi in my very biased opinion. No fuel pumps or oil pumps for me, yet anyway.

    Its not about the head getting "sucked in" (Whatever the fuck that is) Its about galvanic corrosion. Pro tip for al the reservoirs on japanese bikes with "philips" head screws. Its mot a Philips head, but JIS. Japanese Industry Standard. You can get a special JIS screwdriver

    ALL torque specs are to be dry. As soon as you add loctite or some sort of lube you are over tightening the screws. Think of it as anti-friction, torque is the friction building up on the threads of the screw and hole.

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 5 часов назад

      The problem is that due to the extra friction of a dry fitment the torque value applied is highly inaccurate.

    Thats great info Chuck. I currently have a 2023 YZ250X. The PWK38 is an amazing carb when dialed it. Recently though i have been experiencing a “surging idle” when going from WOT to idle in a quick fashion. Seems to be when the bike is very hot (not boiling over hot) in extremely tight single track. Otherwise runs exceptionally well. Have been running the same jetting for 2 seasons without issue. Fresh OEM top end 15 hours ago. And a total of 85 hours on the bike. Definitely seems like a lean surge but doesn’t do it until the bike is very hot. And also don’t have a hanging idle. If anything I’m a tad rich on the bottom end. I was thinking a possible air leak but you would think if that was the case it would consistently have the issue 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 22 часа назад

      As temps increase the demands on the fuel increase. You could solve it a few ways. You could jet it richer, keep it cooler (like with a fan) or run higher octane fuel.

    Finally got around to watching this. Great explanations and I agree there are a lot of misconceptions on this topic. I have a number of ride buddies around or over 10:38 200# with stock springs on Austrian bikes, content with mediocre, harsh suspension performance from too much preload to get sag and no balance. Whaaaat?! Is ignorance bliss?😮 Well, it is cheaper until you get tossed on your head.

  • @bachmed00
    @bachmed00 2 дня назад

    First off, just get a screw extractor kit. Couple of dollars and you got one. Next, put some copper grease on the screw threads next time you screw it in. It withstands the higher temperatures and it will keep the bolt tight and snuck while still being easily removable for future maintenance. Every mechanic or homes mechanic should have some Copper Grease, White Vaseline and lithium grease laying around. With those 3 you can tackle 80% off lubrication needs

    • @Goodzikc
      @Goodzikc 4 дня назад

      don't take this as gospel, as im sure there's much better ways to do this,. And I haven't done it for a screw being used for this application, but I often find it helps to dremel a slot in the head of the screw to make it a flat head

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 4 дня назад

      If it’s corroded after removing the head I would add a bit of heat but you have to be careful not to damage the master seals. Next I would drill down through the screw & use an easy out but that’s pro territory. Better to stop before you damage the reservoir.

    Thats caused by negligence from owner, not just ethanol alone. I have used 10% ethanol in motorcycles, I add fuel stabilizer to full tank of gas. Store the bike in dry garage, then run engine once a month which also keeps the battery charged. Bike runs perfectly without any issues after storage. Avoid storing bike &small engines outdoors helps on increasing fuel lifespan, also reducing corrosion issues. Ethanol is powerful cleaner so when you use ethanol fuel for first time, you should check that theres no dirt in the fuel tank, also the fuel filter is not too old and dirty because if theres there any dirt then ethanol will be cleaning & trying to get the dirt into the engine's combustion chambers. But the carb's jets are too small so dirt gets stuck to the jets. Mandatory ethanol blends to gasoline is a good thing despite it annoying some people because it reduces amounts of harmful tail pipe emissions at urban areas.

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 6 дней назад

      No. There are 2 major problems with them. They push the intake boot back so it kinks & at low intake velocities (low rpm) the fuel pools in the intake causing a low end bog. I have the TSP IRK which performs very well but is MUCH more finicky to tune. For the majority of riders I think installing a TSP map is the best option & leaving the injectors stock.

    • @SnakingIvY
      @SnakingIvY 5 дней назад

      @@ChuckfromTrueTechjust to add info to this. I run the dual relocation block. With a stock map yes it pools and you have to rev the shit out of it here and there to clear it out. But after an ECU tune ment for the mod I've had no issues with my lower end and have a very crisp bike for much cheaper then the full tsp kit. I didn't have the money after buying a brand new bike (XCW 2022) for tsp and went out on a limp with best dual sports products. Really can't complain after all the heachaches from stock and I ride very technical mountains in Pemberton BC.

    Hey Chuck, what's your go-to brand for shock bearings/bushings? Do you usually go OEM or something else? I recently went to replace a lower shock heim bearing on a KTM 300 PDS with a kit from that Moose Racing brand and the machining of the bushings was far enough off that I actually couldn't fit the shock over the bushings. Broke out the calipers and found that their bushings were somehow like 20 thou wider than OEM when installed. Made me re-think buying aftermarket kits for that kinda stuff (maybe I just got a defective one though...)
