I've been a Duranie from the get go and I love every single one of their albums, the first 3 of course being my absolutes, but then when Warren stepped into the picture he really was the perfect fit for someone to step in and take over the GIGANTIC shoes Andy left behind. This album is just one of those albums that still sounds so fresh and innovative in their catalog even above Medazzaland, which I love but can never really listen to all the way through. It's such a bummer that because this album charted terribly they were so dismissive of it (the band) at least that's the impression I get from their interviews. This album is classic Duran with a little Missing Persons and the coming of the 90's house grooves and fashions. I really hope this album gets a proper re-release. This album is A+++, Warren and the boys SLAYED!!!! RE-ISSUE PLEASE!!!! One more thing, Nick's synth layering on My Antartica is next level!!!

This one is likely going to be weird for me. Going in I know that Timbalan has never made a song I like. Neither has Justin Timberlake. That's just not my thing, my scene. It doesn't appeal to me. The Valley. I did not like the contrast between the vocals and the electronic stuff. I do like that break, or middle part, with the cool bass and IMO the whole song should have taken that direction with a totally different vocal idea. Red Carpet Massacre started off nice enough. though it might be cool, but then nope. It just sounds like a bad At The Drive In to me, but with a drum machine. Nite-Runner. It sounds like a song Tim wrote for Justine. The most non-Duran Duran song I've heard so far. Hard pass. Falling Down. I can't get up. Nope. Pass. Box Full O' Honey. The Beatles. (I thought it before you said it, of course though) Best track, by far, so far. Skin Divers. Terrible. Pass. Tempted. I'd sooner enjoy eating mud, at a pig farm. Tricked Out. Weakest guitar sound ever. Kind of thought of The Doors for a sec but then it went Castlevania. While not exciting, it was better 6 out of the 7 songs before it. Zoom In. The synth bass sucks imo but the song could have been way cooler with less repetition and a more band orientated sound. Too bad. Still better than most of the tracks before it. She's Too Much. Started off nice, then the beat came in and I went full on BOOOO, but ignoring that it started to sound good, but then that horrible cross-mod synth sound. Why? It just didn't need it, imo. Welp another song that could have been better with just a few changes. Sufferin Succotash. Dirty Great Monster. Don't dig the drum sound. Its ok though. Not something I'd likely listen to again on purpose though. The saxophone (Simon Willescroft) was cool though. Last Man Standing. Start off terrible, but transitioned nicely into the vocal and drums (which bore me too soon) and synths. Its just the overall Timbalan sound of it that ruins a track that could have been better, imo of course. What can I say, I never liked his sound. It just loops on forever. On to All You Need Is Now? I like a few songs from your recommends list btw. Especially Linea Aspera and Keluar, which were already known to me. Wish they would make more music.

I bought this album at 9AM the morning that it was released. I Graduated High School in May '87. This album was part of my life soundtrack. Nick was the entire reason I started playing Keyboards, and Simon was part of my lyrical reason to write, especially starting with Arcadia. Too bad I don't have Simon's range, LOL. I got to see this tour, the Big Thing Tour, and Astronaut twice, where I got to meet Nick, Simon, and Roger.

I was hoping to like this album a lot more given the fact that it's the OG lineup. Also, Simon's voice/tone sounds so different on most of this album. There's some cool stuff in almost every song. I like the funk guitars, some synth stuff here and there, the bass pretty much everywhere, some of the change ups like in Point of No Return, to name some, but most of the choruses didn't click with me. The only song I like all the way through is Finest Hour. I'd like it more with a natural, or more human, production style. Just personal taste. Still Breathing is freaking nice instrumentally imo, and I like the vocal composition too, but I wish Simon from much earlier albums sang on it, if that makes sense. It would have been perfect. One of Those Days, you thought Nirvana, I thought The Smashing Pumpkins.😁 It's def a clean production. Everything sounds executed with mechanical like precision. I'm not the biggest fan of that now very common style of production personally. Again, appreciate the vid On to Red Carpet Massacre then

Sin of The City is out of the ordinary and I never thought I would like it so much because when I listen to it I noticed 2 references in this song despite the incredible guitar presence that Warren did on this album. The sound part reminded me of a sample from a demo from the Liberty album called Bootleneck, there is a part that is a reference to Simon singing and John's bass part reminded me of the track Undergoing Treatment from the Medazzaland album, I heard the presence bass at the beginning, but it's a little slower. John's backing vocals on Sin of the City I take my hat off to hearing him and Simon on the chorus.

Another very 90s sounding album to my ears. Breaks, filtered vox, electronic rock, electronica, alt rock. They even put a record scratch in the last track. All very familiar 90s to me. Out of My Mind Silva Halo Be My Icon (was someone listening to NIN?) Who Do You Think You Are?, the way Simon sang it kinda made think of The Beatles a little. All in all I actually like the sound of this album more than The Wedding Album. It's the darkness, pushing on dissonant/atonal stuff. Thanks again, and on to Pop Trash.

First off, favorite track: Drive By So I think they did Perfect Day pretty good, I do prefer the original. Just the sound of the original recording alone. Super warm. Ball Of Confusion, interesting take on it. I kinda like it. It's also still pretty relevant in many ways, lyrically. 911 Is A Joke threw me so off 🤣it's terrible imo 🤣but watching your initial reaction to it was totally worth it. 🤣 I love The Doors! I've been listening to them my whole life. Seriously, from infancy. Mom swears before that, while she was preggo. DD's cover isn't bad but the OG is magic. I'll leave it at that. Now to find out what the deal is with Medazzaland. As always, enjoyed the vid. Thanks. .

I totally forgot about Ordinary World. Jeez. This album sounds so 90s soft/alt rock/dance. Overall the 90s alt rock stuff is alright, not always my kind of thing in general but it's a big improvement over Liberty imo. As for 90s dance music, I tend not to like it. This is no exception. EDM, with a few rare exceptions, has never really been my thing. In the 90s I listened to mostly stuff like Faith No More, The Cure, Pixies, NIN, Skinny Puppy (all started in the 80s or earlier), tons of metal, Testament, Sepultura, Pantera, ect (most of them started in the 80s) and a lot of 60s, 70s rock like The Doors, Deep Purple, Heart, ect. 90s pop music never appealed to me much. The same is true for 2k forward so if I like any of these 90s+ Duran Duran songs at all I'm calling it a win. Top tracks: Love Voodoo, Come Undone, & Ordinary World. Femme Fatale gives me Imagine by John Lennon vibes, a little. Never heard the original TVU song. Well on to Thank You, and thank you. Enjoyed the vid.

So this is the last Duran Duran album I heard. Unfortunately I haven't changed my mind about it. Despite the fact that they used far less session players (4) on this album, compared to Notorious, they manage to sound even less like Duran Duran. It basically sounds like another band featuring Duran Duran. 😁 The way he sings 'Do You Believe in Shame?' reminds of Creedence Clearwater Revival - Susie Q, only I actually like Susie Q. Maybe producer Jonathan Elias had some influence on the sound of this record? He produced Bulletproof Heart for Grace Jones. Top tracks for me: All She Wants Is, but the repetitive "all she wants is" gets a bit old quick. Unfortunately that's it for me. I'll give the album another shot next year. As of now this album is a skip. On to Liberty, which I never heard before. From here on out everything will be new to me. Excited, but a bit of pessimism. 90s onward, not my favorite decades for music with a few exceptions. I hope I love it.

I don't get at all why you shouldn't try to breakdown Simon's lyrics. Seems like an unreasonable demand/request to me. Maybe I'm missing some kind of context. Anyhow . . . Top tracks for me, rather the only songs I actually like: Notorious (the most, by a lot), Vertigo (is cool but), & A Matter of Feeling. The later kinda reminds me of a George Michael jam for some reason but I still dig it. About that but . . . I like Vertigo but what gets to me is all synth/horn stabs. Too many for this song imo. I would have preferred to hear a guitar play that part, if they had to be there at all. When they go away, the song is great. A lot of this album sounds like 80s sessions player stuff, which I guess technically it is. 14 musicians worked on this album, among other personnel. That's a lot of musicians for a 3 member band. 😁 It barely sounds like Duran Duran the band imo. Put it this way, If I never heard this album before, and you took out Simon's vocal tracks, I couldn't tell you that these are Duran Duran songs. Maybe, just maybe, I would be able to pick out John Taylor, but if I could I'd likely think he joined another band, or it's another side project. Enjoyed the reaction, presentation and commentary. You're super cool. Thanks. On to Big Thing

Now this album I play frequently so Interesting to see a reaction to it. Also, I've grown to love Andy Taylor's playing. He pulled me out of the every guitar part has to be fast and or super complicated state of mind. He also got me into Rock and Funk playing (coming from Metal/Classical/Spanish, but then Prince kinda took over the Funk stuff for me. 😁 Top songs for me: Some Like It Hot (of course) & Lonely Tonight Those drums on Some Like It Hot though. Hit hard af, smashed to heck, and hard gated. Tons of room sound. Slamming!

You asked how many Multi-Tracks? As an engineer, I'm guessing 32 or 48. Definitely more than 24. It's not a flute. It's the Ocarina that Simon used on "Save A Prayer".
