I Made Lethal Company in 24 Hours
The first 500 people to use my link skl.sh/gambit01251 will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare!
Since I had a little free time, I tried my best to recreate Lethal Company in only 24 hours. I created a player, procedural generation, items, and a monster! Procedural generation was intimidating, but not nearly as hard as I thought. You'll also see some gameplay at the end :D
The total amount of development time I spent was about 15-16 hours. That's why I'm so exhausted lol.
Lethal Company was my favorite game in 2024, so this was a fun challenge to see how much I could recreate in only 24 hours!
Huge shoutout to @REE-Animation for the amazing UE5 procedural generation tutorial!

To try everything Brilliant has to offer-free-for a full 30 days, visit brilliant.org/Gambit/ . You’ll also get 20% off an annual premium subscription. I challenged myself to make a game in 10 minutes, 1 hour, and 1 day. I based these games off of my first ever game: SMASHTRONAUT. The improvement I've made in less than 6 months is pretty crazy. Is my 24 hour game better than my 2 week game? Wis...

Devlog 0: Actually Making a Cool Indie Game
I love your games! But that TV filter is not it
Instructions unclear, coded half life 3.
snails are NOT cute
LET'S GO!!! GODOT!!!
You should change the background to a red and white tablecloth
I wanna make a video game, but what I want doesn't matter. What should I do? What would you do if you were me?
This look really cool, sadly. This isn't on mobile phone, is it? I'm hoping for the mobile version. Anyways, i have a suggestion, where you make mechanic that force the player to enter their character name, and if they type one of your unimplemented character(which you could use in the future, or make new characters) name, they get to play a completely different character instead. With different ability and areas, of course, but it's up to you. English is not my language so i hope you understand what i'm saying :)
So funny
0:16 Bro just gave his password😂
what is the music that plays in the background at 1:38
Mine is better
you should change level layout when you switch dimension
massive?
I'M SOO FREAKIN EXCITED FOR THE STEAM RELEASEE
Honestly with writing good code comes organization practice so shortcuts as in writing less lines is best, utilizing classes, objects and decorators, typically the good coders will know how to read it saving the whole team time and plus it's organized. With experience or leetcode you shall know thy way of runtime lol. Never give up man. I trust that you will become great!
Can you put the link in the description
I have a suggestion instead of adding shadows in the sprite just make another sprite which had a oval shadow and set its y to the ground and do when green flag forever set x to x pls of balllon which will make a shadow on the ground
As a scratcher no hate also Bro why are u using repeat until none when u can use forever and bro Just add shadows in the sprite like ik it’s ur first time but that’s just common sense and the game could be more good with less work
As soon as I saw this video, I went to eat waffles
i beat your game
You didn’t make a game.. you copied a game..
Are you going to switch to ue5?
I was planning on using it for 3D/online, but over the last few weeks I’ve decided I’ll be good with Godot for a while
2:19 whats the name of the theme you're using?
Lmao I though you were the dude that created content warning because of the thumbail but you seem do be a nobody trying to give tips when you only have created horrible 2d games xD
So… you made a regular io game?
I quit tutorial hell when the tutorial is so bad that a completely new game dev can scrap together better code than it.
Lethal company is pixelated because it uses volumetric light, it renders in lower res then upscales
My computer is broke so i cant rn :/
Honestly crazy for 24 hours, good job, I'm trying to learn game creation but I kind of focused on 3d modeling first instead of actual coding, so I have no clue how to code.
My personal recommendation is to do the opposite, go into unity and just use basic the provided 3d mesh objects they provide, make a quick little bean boy with movement and refine it only exception would be like if you wanted to give em hands then do a fast 3d model and just sorta focus on learning how to make proper coding once you do that then you can feel free to go into better models tldr: Code first and use bare minimum models until your code actually works
Different pixel sizes and "too many colors" isnt a hard and true rule. Case in point: Clangen. Its a warriors fan game that is very popular in its target audience. Theyve got some pretty nice pixel art for their ui and theyve got different sixed pixels in them that apparently no one has noticed but me. Bugs the crap out of me, but no one else seems to really take notice and the art looks good regardless. I guess just as long as you are selective where you put your differently sized pixels then you'll be fine. As for the "too many colors" part of the argument, the base game itself is actually fine and doesn't go over board. Its the mods that really take the colors to the next level, adding more and more colors and giving the sprites more complex shading. And people in the modding community for that game love it! Just really depends on what you want to do. If you arent very good at art and can only really do coding, then stick to same pixel sizes and simple colors. Otherwise, go crazy with it!
Please add triplanar to your textures
nice video, yeah i generally agree with most of this. my first game yet to be finished i think is over half way done with a couple years progress, a bit too late to give up now 😂 plenty of experience, just set the standards a bit high, but ive learned a lot more with 2d art and some basic code logic w/ all I've done so far, I'm just trying to finish it cause I can't wait to work on other things afterwards lol, multiple projects at once feels like a cunfuzzle nightmare and end up abandoning most of them so I'm more into finishing before i move on to others.

Love the Bomb Rush Cyberfunk soundtrack in the vid ;)
Loved that you used undertale as the example of bad dialog system he literally put it all in an if statement!
Unlethal Company letsgooo
Good tips, thanks for the video!
Make a tutorial
And then there is flappy bird that made millions and was made in an hour
idk why but he game looks fun to play
Why that cult's game engine?! Why
How is Godot a cult engine
@@Gambit-YT It went woke and everyone that can think for themselves abandoned it.
@Human-x5e no one abandoned it bro don't blame the engine blame the one who runs/owns the twitter account the others did nothing. And if you use unity, you can't be talking.
@@Mr_Budders I don't use Unity. It's not just one person that ruined it all, that person was a manager, that was put there by people, who knew what she stands for. They even defended her after she began ruining things.
Erm actually lethal company is a multiplayer horror ROUGELIKE
Ah yes, my favorite genre, rougelike.
YAYAYAYAYAYAYY LETHAL COMPANY
i think this game remake concept wouldve just worked better if you had set up multiplayer and then started the timer, i can see why you completely avoided it as patching multiplayer bugs wouldve probably eated up all of the time but i still think that as it is a fundamental part of lc it shouldve been allowed
With the procedural generation, how did you make sure the rooms didn't spawn inside of each other?
I gave them each an area, and if the area overlaps with another the room gets deleted and tries to spawn a new room
@Gambit-YT ohhhh then you probably had to make it small enough it didn't trigger it while it was spawning next to another one
nice
Nice job, I'd like to see it finished
I gotta ask, were you using the fork of thr godot engine, redot?
Now he's creating more distractions to avoid finishing the snail game. xD
yippee, gambit dropped
