Cheyne Walls
США
Добавлен 8 окт 2010
Master Photographer and honorable traveler, Cheyne Walls travels throughout the U.S.A and Canada in his Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, with his trusted Rolex Explorer II, Explorer 40 and Rolex Submariner tool watches, photographing the brilliance of Nature and our National Parks.
One of the most important pieces of equipment in a Nature photographer’s arsenal isn’t always part of his or her camera bag - it’s their vehicle, tool watches and specialized gear. Much more than a method of getting from location to location, or the prefect instrument of keeping time can mean the difference between capturing or missing an epic shot.

Rolex Submariner : 500 Days on the Wrist - Victim of Success
500 days on the wrist with my Rolex Submariner Date. I love this watch, but is it a victim of its own success? Maybe the best watch in my watch collection, then why do I reach for the Rolex Submariner the lease every morning when I'm picking a watch for the day? Rolex Submariner Date 126610LN

Thank you for making high quality videos!Love MAMACOO watch
lol, white on black is the very definition of contrast!! White on white is not
I'm genuinely impressed with how close AMZWATCH were able to replicate every aspect of this very very goofy looking classic watch.
Beautiful, Cheyne!
Awesome 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
John Denver really does suit this scenery
Explorer!!💪🏻 allways
Another great watch video. Interesting that you are able to test watches with such dramatic temp changes. I’m curious what other watches you have tested and seen fail from an accuracy perspective or even getting condensation inside the crystal.
Great video. What do you think comfort wise between the Submariner and the Explorer 2? If you’re wearing one for weeks at a time, which would be more comfortable?
@@off-roadingcars thank you. On the bracelet the Submariner is more comfortable if I’m wearing day after day without taking it off. Switch to a canvas, rubber or leather strap there about the same. Cheers
I dont understand. You are adamant that you should be doing work with a tool watch on and cant relax watching a movie but then felt you should have taken it off to change a tire?
I didn't take it off to change the tire. I'm just saying I don't get the same feeling of a tool watch as I do with the Rolex Explorer II.
@ I know you didn’t take it off but made it seem like you should have. I’m looking for my first “luxury” watch. I have a small acreage but always doing work in the yard, messing with the tractor, etc. I know there is a time a place to wear a watch that costs that much but I do also want to be able to wear it and enjoy it. I was more curious of your mindset and how much of a tool watch it actually is. Changing a tire is a lot different than going on a hike taking pictures
@ I’m not sure there should be a certain time and a place to wear these types of watches. I didn’t mean to make you think I should have taken it off changing that tire. I personally pay good money for these types of watches so I can wear them anywhere in any environment. They’re designed and built to be tools, with a luxury element. Cheers
If you are worried about the stigma, but like the looks, get a vintage pre-ceramic Submariner.
That could be a good option to peruse.
Could you show us a close up of the battle scars? 😊
I'll make sure to get some more macro shots in future videos, but if you would like see some of the battle scars feel free to go back to some of my older videos on my Rolex Explorer II, there are some macro shots of battle damage.
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. AMZWATCH brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
What you are saying and worrying about says less about the watch and more about you. I personally wear a Sea-Dweller Deepsea black dial. I'm a big guy so it looks like a Sub on me. It's not that I don't care what people think but more that I understand how 99% of people have no clue about what they are looking at or talking about. I'm a man who wears a Rolex Deepsea..You be a man who wears a Rolex Submariner. And together we will simply smile and walk past all the apple watches that will eventually wind up in a landfill.
Perfectly stated.
Oh I agree, and that is what I tried to touched on at the end of the video. Cheers
My grails would be a explorer ii or a stainless sub but that will be one day but I have the little brother the tudor black bay 41 that I wear everyday as a millwright in a chemical plant and I love it so much I also have zero hesitation to go to corporate events with my wife in it go hunting in the swamps around the house backpacking deepsea fishing bass fishing and would not hesitate to do basically anything in this watch and that's how I feel about the grails I would do that same
Thank you for sharing your story-it’s awesome to hear how much you love your Black Bay 41! It’s such a versatile and robust watch, perfectly suited for everything you’ve described, from working as a millwright to attending corporate events and tackling outdoor adventures. It truly embodies the spirit of a great tool watch! Your perspective on grails is fantastic-seeing them as watches you’d genuinely wear and enjoy in every aspect of life rather than keeping them as safe queens. That’s exactly what these timepieces are made for! Keep enjoying your Black Bay 41 to the fullest, and I have no doubt that one day you’ll add that Explorer II or Submariner to your collection. Both would be right at home with your lifestyle. Cheers to many more adventures with your watch!
Cheyne thanks for the great presentation, I just bought a black dial at an A.D. in Paris for my birthday and love it, try Zealande straps if you want a really durable rubber strap that looks fantastic, a French company that manufactures it’s gear in Switzerland. Also, I am a tool, watch guy, not a jewelry buff, and I matte all of my steel bracelets and the cases (as long as they have crown guards) professionally, I trust and use Feldmar Watches in Los Angeles and they have done an amazing job for me, so if you want to takeoff some of that shine and go a little more under the radar with a good rubber strap those are a couple of options for you, good luck and God bless, you are a very talented photographer!
Thank you so much for the kind words and for sharing your insights! First off, congratulations on your new black dial and a very happy belated birthday-it’s always special to mark such an occasion with something as timeless as a watch. I appreciate the recommendation for Zealande straps. A durable and stylish rubber strap made in Switzerland by a French company sounds like a winning combo-I’ll definitely look into it. And your approach of professionally matting steel for a more subdued look is such a great idea for tool watch enthusiasts. Feldmar Watches in LA has quite the reputation, so it’s great to hear firsthand about their quality work. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment and for being part of this journey. Wishing you many adventures with your watch, and I’m glad you enjoy my photography too-it means a lot! Cheers!
Question What do you call multiple rolex watches? I like to call them rolii as in radii and radius
A heard
ewww
Like taking the stock alloys off a Porsche to replace with pram wheels…
Its just a bit more comfortable after wearing a watch day in and day out without taking it off.
Love that you use your watches and don't baby them, excellent review man!
@@TimeBaum Cheers, thanks for that. They are great tools, ones I can say I fully can rely on.
AMZWATCH!Every time you exhibit one of these watches I become super tempted to get one.
Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for AMZWATCH watch makers
Go with the black EXII and you have a great formal watch.
Thanks for your input.
I tend to agree with you on the status symbol. I wish it was less popular because it is such a good watch. I hate that people buy just because of the hype.
Yeah, its just such a good watch, its popularity is a testament to how good the watch is, but now sadly the craftsmanship, design and toughness have been a lit forgotten. Cheers
Nice video, and good luck with your collection dilemma... welcome to the club 😂. Just one simple suggestion for the moonswatch: invert the two pieces of the strap. In few words, put the Omega logo on the external side of the wrist and the swatch logo on the internal one. That setup will center the case on the wrist, and it will make the wearing a lot easier. Thank you for your work!
Thank you so much for the kind words and the thoughtful suggestion! 😊 I'll definitely give that strap setup a try-it sounds like a smart adjustment to improve both the fit and wearability. I really appreciate the tip and the warm welcome to the "club" of collection dilemmas! 😂 Thanks for watching and supporting my work-it means a lot!
Who cares what other people think! You do you bro!
Thanks for your input, your right.
Nice combo! I tried to put on a strap on my explorer 40 as well, but was surprised that the holes for the spring bars are so close to the case. The strap got damaged as well due to the sharp edges of the case. Did you experience sth similar? Thanks for all your content btw. Because of your videos I’m trying to get me an explorer 2 😂 keep up your great work!!! Kind regards from Germany
Thanks and great to hear, you will love the Rolex Explorer II. I did notice how close I had to push the spring bar into the case for it to fit. I'll keep you posted on the straps if I get any damage, I just got them a few days. We are out in the field for the next 3 weeks, so that will tell a lot how well these straps hold up. Prost!
@@cheynewalls really interested to hear if the strap has been damaged at all. I’d love to get an artem for my own explorer 40 but I’m apprehensive
Looks amazing. Never stop doing this.
Cheers, We are currently out in the field for the next 3 weeks. A lot of content being created.
When it comes to fine imitation watches, AMZWATCH delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
the 226570, SOLID
An amazing watch
Artem. Not Armin. But an Armin Strom for hiking would be a pretty awesome flex. 😂
I must have miss spoke, was a bit tried after a full day of hiking.
The Tudor FXD GMT could fit for your purpose when being outside
Yeah, Good looking new watch from Tudor, I'll look more into it. Cheers
All my watches are divers except for a plastic Marathon quartz pilot's watch with tritium lume that I wear at night. I don't have any Rolex but maybe some day will own one. For right now my two favorites are an orange bezel, white dial Planet Ocean 43.5mm and a Tudor FXD in black.
I loved my Omega Planet Ocean, maybe the biggest mistake in my watch collecting journey was to not hold on to that watch. Cheers
Cheyne, I agree - the stigma attached to this watch dissuades me from wearing it. Great video as ever, Thankyou.
Cheers Matthew, Thank you for that.
Watch are the ultimate Men's accesories!Enjoyed watching your collection. Keep going! As a watch enthusiast and watch reviewer, I can say AMZWATCH this was a great choice. Enjoyed your video!
Great watch. I'll never buy a Rolex though, I refuse to play the AD game
Thank you. If it means anything, I personal think Rolex AD stories have been very over exaggerated. I've had great experiences with my Rolex AD, I go in tell them the watch I like, they give me a rough time estimate. I'll check-in about once a month for any updates and that is it. I have always gotten the watch before or when promised. Now I could have gotten lucky with my Rolex AD, but I only hear these "crazy" stories on RUclips or social media. Myself and almost every Rolex owner I have personally spoken with have nothing but good things to say about their Rolex AD experience. Giving they don't like the wait time, but nothing can really be done about that. Cheers
Hi Cheyne, very nice video as always. In some past videos you said that you are always traveling for your work: do you have any tips for traveling with expensive watches? I will take a trip to the USA in the Grand Canyon and I don't know if I should bring my SUB. Thanks, congratulations for everything!
Thank you. Sounds like a great trip, I'll be at the Grand Canyon next week. I only travel with one watch when I travel, I don't recommended bring multiple watches, so that expensive watch will always be safely on your wrist. I think you should be fine going to the Grand Canyon, I've never had a problem and I'm there 3 or 4 times a year. You just have to be a bit on guard when your in bigger cities (certain parts). Otherwise I have worn my Rolex watches all over, with no issues. Are you visiting any big cities on your visit? If you so, and you fell uncomfortable showing off the watch, just wear a jacket or long sleeve shirt. Cheers, happy travels.
@@cheynewalls Than you so much for the advices, I'll start from Little Rock to Los Angeles trough Grand Canyon. Keep going like this on the channel!!!
@@adailytechvideo That sound like a great trip, enjoy! Cheers
Funnily enough, AMZWATCH's replicas are perfect for people who can actually afford a luxury watch. Because in those social circles, it wouldn't matter and everybody would just assume it's real. You have a yacht and a beach house in Tuscany, of course that replica is real. There isn't a millionaire out there going around with a jeweller's loupe to scrutinize their acquaintance's watch. They'll just go "Oh is that a Patek? Nice, I should really get my hands on one of those, they look great."
I’m 70 days into my no date and I’m not taking it off. Ever. I have 45+ watches 2-3 of them Tudors ,half a dozen Seikos ,Chinese watches etc but this one is not leaving my wrist even at night …
I was the same way when I first got my Rolex Submariner. Even now I find myself not wanting to take it off. Cheers
Some really interesting points, great video. I tend to feel any Submariner pre the 6 digit era falls into the enthusiast camp, as opposed to the poser camp. I’m looking at 14060M as my next watch
Love the ref 14060M, great watches. The 6 digit Rolex Submariners are incredible watches, but more people are buying them for more of that status symbol vibe element. Cheers
Grand Seiko (Omiwatari?) or JLC or something like that might be a good next dress watch. Tudors have scratched my Rolex itch without the stigma. Pelagos seems like a great no frills field watch. BB54 has the vintage rolex vibes. I could go on and on. The point is, theres so many other great options out there that no one buys for status.
Indeed, a lot of other great watches are available. I'll ways had my eye on a JLC Reverso. Thanks for your input.
Im the proud owner of an explorer 1, not 2. I absolutely love Rolex watches. That said, you trade for the vacheron and you don't look back. Its arguably the greatest tool watch made, by a company which has been making timepieces since 1755. Confirm you'd be comfortable with the size, but if you are, this isn't so much of a decision as you think.
Thanks for your input, It is amazing have a VC side by side a Rolex. Rolex make a great watch, but wow a VC is incredible.
Its heartbreaking to hear people buy these for status and status alone... buy a Day/Date if you don't care. There is so much history and engineering that makes it so amazing. But it is a victim of its own success
Indeed, thanks for your input. Cheers
I love watching your videos and AMZWATCH to keep myself updated on the world of watches
Sell it. Get yourself a speedy and a pelagos 39. You'll thank me in the morning
Thanks for the input, I'll look into that.
Fantastic location. Well done!
I love Yosemite, Cheers
To be fair, the 116610 and the 126610 are probably the most boring Submariners you can get. Out of all the affordable options out there, I'd say a 5513, a 14060(M), or a 40mm Sea-Dweller are the more interesting choices. Or if you're a multi-millionaire, the 6538, 5517, or a Comex Sea-Dweller. I took my 116600 Sea-Dweller into a dealer the other day to have a link removed, and it sparked an extended conversation both when I dropped it off and when I collected it about the history and the specs of this particular model, and how great it was to see one again. To anyone who's not a watch nerd, it just looks like a Submariner, or it just doesn't get noticed at all. But when someone recognizes it, you've found a friend for life. And when you come across someone who thinks it's a Sub, that can lead to an interesting conversation as well.
