You should have laughed in the face of the guy who said you shouldn't wear a $10k+ Rolex to a formal event. So ridiculous. 99.5% of people do not care if you wear an apple watch to a formal event.
Yeah you are right, I'm just at that awkward position that I really don't belong at some of these very formal events and I don't want to look out of place as a lot of the attendees could be future clients. Does that make scene? Cheers
@@cheynewalls That's why you should look into a discreet timepiece. Patek Philippe Calatrava, VC Patrimony, Breguet Classique, A. Lang 1815. All of these are ultra high end w/out telling everyone ultra high end. These can be found pre-owned at a bargain compared to retail prices. PERFECT timepieces for gallery/charity/network/black tie events.
Man, you are one of the very rare few of us that uses their watches as intended. You embody the ideal we aspire to. Wearing the EXP II to a formal event is authentic for you. And that’s what’s cool.
Ditch the sub. Then your 3 watch collection would be the explorer two (rugged/beater/outdoor), explorer 40 (daily wearer/acts as dress watch), GMT (travel). In the future, adding something blue would be nice, the collection lacks a little color. It’s great to see someone that appreciates functionality and still treats watches as a work tool. Awesome collection
Thanks for thoughtful insight. Good point on the color, I try to keep my watches "under the radar" because I travel a lot, sometimes in some larger cities, that aren't safes. But a dash of color could be fun for around town. Cheers
@ for sure. I don’t mean color like Doxa orange or a celebration dial haha but like something with a nice navy blue or green is subtle enough to fit your under-the-radar style.
Seems like the Exp 2 isn’t going anywhere, too much sentiment with that, you seem to really like the GMT function. The sub seems the best one to cut. You don’t seem to find too much use in the diving timer and extra 200m water resistance. The sub will have similar looks and proportions to the incoming GMT master. The explorer 1 will stand out better in the Rolex trio as the simple dateless watch
Sentiment aside…Bruce Wayne, Explorer 1 and Submariner would be my recommendation. I would love that collection and I don’t think a watch collection “needs” anything else. If you love the Explorer 2, maybe sell the other non-Rolex except for a Casio or Swatch?
Hey Cheyne! Well, in my opinion even a Bruce Wayne cannot replace any other of your gorgeous ROLEX Watches. A GMT-Master is a GMT-Master. Nothing else. If you want this watch, go for it! But I would never give away a Sub or the Polar! And, as I learned to know from you, you as well would never give away your new Explorer. So keep them all and be happy! Best wishes and PROST! 🙂
Very well said, and you are right. When it really comes down to it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to give any of them up. We will have to see what the future hold, hopefully art sales pick up so I can avoid selling any of them. PROST!
GMT on the jubilee for the formal and everyday stuff. Keep the Exp II as the do it all and lose the other two. You were my main inspiration for buying the Exp II, so you cant get rid of it ;)
If it were me, I’d go with: G Shock square Rolex Explorer II polar Victorinox Then add a dress watch for formal events Alternatively, the G Shock, Explorer I, and Victorinox would make a solid 3 piece combo since the Explorer can pull double duty as a casual and dress piece
Thank you for sharing! Looking forward to seeing the Bruce Wayne 👌🏽 would be interesting to see if it could be your one watch collection while you rotate different durable watches.
Yeah, I'm hoping so. I'm thinking it will be my daily, but we will see. I'll make sure to document the experience and keep everyone posted on this channel. Cheers
Great vid! I have a 116710 BLNR that I wear every day. Got it for my 20th anniversary, so I won't be selling it. It will go to my daughter next year when she finishes her MS. She has always loved it and I promised it to her to motivate her to go further with her education. The one I considering is the 126710GRNR....just like you. I love that it has a slightly trimmer/reworked/corrected super case. I am no fan of the PCL bracelet, but I like the way it looks once it had collected enough micro-scratches that it is not as shiny. I wish it came with the same brushed bracelet as the sub as it it not as bright and it more adjustable. If I do get the 126710 GRNR, I'm not sure how much I will like the gray part of the blk and gray bezel. Also not sure if I would like the Jubelee or the PCL bracelet, as you can order it either way.
Thank you, and what an incredible story behind your BLNR! Passing it on to your daughter as a symbol of her achievement is such a meaningful gesture-it’ll be a cherished piece for her. As for the 126710 GRNR, I completely agree that the reworked case is a step in the right direction. The bezel’s gray tone is subtle, so it may grow on you with time. Regarding the bracelet, both options have their appeal: the Jubilee adds vintage flair and comfort, while the Oyster gives it a sporty edge. Micro-scratches do help tone down the PCLs, but if only Rolex offered a brushed bracelet as standard! Either way, the GRNR is a stunning addition to any collection-good luck with your decision!
Great video and great watch collection, please keep all your watches! Heading to your website now to buy some artwork to help support this channel, so you can keep all your watches! Want to see continued long term update videos on Rolex Explorer 2, Rolex Submariner and Rolex Explorer.
Yeah, I know I'll regret it one day. Hopefully art sales pickup soon and I'll be able to add the Rolex GMT Master II to the collection without losing any of my current watches. Cheers
Nah sell everything and only keep one or two. The best thing that can happen to a watch lover is being associated with you’re loved watch and some day give it as a truly meaningful gift.
I feel you just have to keep the polar explorer for that special white dial, great lume and rugged looking bezel that suits your lifestyle. Especially now that you mentioned your history of needing analog watch with good lume. Also it's your first rolex, surely that's also big sentimental value.
Yeah I agree with all that, if it really came down to it I don't think I could ever sell my Rolex Explorer II. Like you said, so much sentimental value. Cheers
Great video Cheyne, I have your same Rolex Submariner and in my opinion it is almost a perfect watch since I can use it in everyday, in more sporty activity and to a formal event. It is in my opinion the most usable of the 3. I have a friend with a 20 year Sub 16610 and test pressure every year and his gasquets are almost perfect still today, so you don't have to worry about it. Of the 3 I'll keep the SUB and the Explorer 2. I'll drop the Explorer 1 since it has no date and no other practical functions (bezel or gmt) and it is not a real dress watch. Cheers
Thanks, and thank you for letting me know about your friends 20 year old Submariner, still water proof after all those years. Thanks again for your thoughtful insight, Cheers
I have the Explorer II polar dial and the GMT Master II Batman (technically the Batgirl). You’ll LOVE the GMT master. So comfortable (the jubilee bracelet is particularly comfortable) and will work well for you in more formal settings because of the polished center links in the bracelet and polished accents on the case. In my case, the Explorer II is the workhorse and the GMT is for slightly nicer settings. Nights out, important meetings at the office, etc. With the Explorer II and GMT Master combo, I don’t feel the need for an Explorer I or a submariner at all. You might be able to sell either or both of those. Just my two cents. Whatever you decide, keep enjoying your watches and thanks for the videos.
@@cheynewalls I’m not sure I’d wear any version of the GMT Master II as a field watch. Not even on the oyster bracelet. The polished finishes just don’t lend themselves to the harsh environment of the field. Have you tried one on in person and seen now it looks? It’s got a bling factor to it. I wear my Explorer II as my field watch and keep the GMT Master for more domesticated activities.
@@bitcoindiplomat1103 Yeah, that is one thing I'm not a fan of about the GMT Master II is that polish and bling. However I think in a about a year of beating the hell out of it and scratching off all that polish it might look great. Cheers
I agree with you on the problem of seals drying out, which is the reason I don’t wear my daily watch into the water. It has 100m of water resistance, which I basically treat as splash protection (rain, washing hands, etc.). I’ll wear my G Shock and diver to the pool/beach instead.
Yeah, I have always been worried about seals drying out, but I just got a comment an hour ago saying he wore his Rolex Submariner everywhere, in extremely hot and cold environments and never had an issue when scuba diving. Never serviced his Sub over 15 years.
Nice video, and good luck with your collection dilemma... welcome to the club 😂. Just one simple suggestion for the moonswatch: invert the two pieces of the strap. In few words, put the Omega logo on the external side of the wrist and the swatch logo on the internal one. That setup will center the case on the wrist, and it will make the wearing a lot easier. Thank you for your work!
Thank you so much for the kind words and the thoughtful suggestion! 😊 I'll definitely give that strap setup a try-it sounds like a smart adjustment to improve both the fit and wearability. I really appreciate the tip and the warm welcome to the "club" of collection dilemmas! 😂 Thanks for watching and supporting my work-it means a lot!
Hi first time ever on your channel and firstly I must say how really beautiful your art work is, stunning really stunning. Secondly, love to see the pocket watches in the collection. Wish that they would make a come back I would use one. Don't sell yours.
Thank you for that, much appreciated. Yeah, love the history and craftsmanship of the pocket watches. I'll do my best to keep all the watches, hopefully art sales pickup a bit. Cheers
@@cheynewalls Wishing you all the best for your business to pick up; love the truck too. Could you teach on line subscription classes for photography...just an ideal. Now saving up for a USA railroad watch. 😍
@@richjohn11 The USA railroad watches are great watches!! Stay tune will being diving a lot more into Nature photograph and my techniques on this channel in the upcoming months.
Tough choice. I would probably go with the Sub because of its turning bezel. Virtually any number you need to remember (e.g. when you started your exposure or put your noodlewater on the stove) can be memorized with the bezel so you won’t forget it. If the Explorer II‘s bezel could turn I‘d go with this one since it’s more rugged and adventurous (but sadly it can’t). This is however a very functional viewpoint and letting a watch go is certainly not only a rational decision.
my Explorer40 is 3months old tomorrow. when its dead, and i wind it, it doesnt run until i pull the crown out to position#2, then push it in again. Are yours like that?
That is interesting, First I unscrew, wind it a positions #1 and it will start running without me going to positions #2. How many times do you wind it? Sometimes it will take 20 or 30 winds before it gets going.
@cheynewalls 20 times...thanks for confirming. I thought it (used to) was supposed to run right away. the watch loses about 3 seconds a day too, and when the power reserve runs out it gains like 4 seconds a day. Back I go to the AD i suppose.
Great video Cheyne! I would go leftfield, sell all 3 Rolex and purchase a Titanium Yacht-Master. Size, weight, legibility, rotating bezel, tool watch aesthetics all covered 💯🙏
Yes, A great watch I looked into getting one, however I'm personally not a fan of the loud colored bezel, there is not a black bezel configuration with a date options. Cheers
Nearly the same watches in my collection (also the Victorinox Airboss 241507). My daily beater ist the cheap casio. All of the others get less wrist-time. I'm going to buy the mrg b5000 because of that and sell the others, except the Casio 5610. But maybe it'll be just one more watch in my collection.
Cheyne - great video! Tough to let the sub go, as the glide lock bracelet is nice and it’s an iconic watch - but I can understand why it would feel close to the GMT. I would try to wait a bit to get them under one roof, so you really know. Also, you can ignore whatever nob told you not to wear your Exp 2 with a suit. If I see a guy with an Exp 2, I’m going to complement him on a great watch. In a sea of identical smart watches, any classic Rolex is a breath of fresh air.
Thank you. Yeah its going to be a tough decision. You're right the glide lock is so nice and I really do love the Rolex Submariner. Very go point, I'm going to try and get them all together before I make my final pick. Thanks for your insightful input, Cheers
Honestly if anything, you can lose the watches with no additional functionality compared to say the explorer… In terms of function, the idea of the submariner just seems to work as it has the timer function which is think is much more of a valuable thing to have compared to a GMT watch… (I own an explorer II and a tudor GMT). At the end of the day ask yourself which watch had a fire erupted and you needed to save (pick a number less than the current available watches) and see which ones you would.
I've heard that, but in my personal experience with long exposure to the elements they fail at around 20F. I have had the batteries go flat multiple time on multiple G-shocks at around that temp.
@@94VFR I like those Sinn U50 watches, hopefully I'll have one in my collection one day. For now my Rolex Explorer II works great in subzero temps, over extended periods of time, no issues at all. It has become my go to watch when I go snow camping. Cheers
Very cool video! OK, what is a nice collection? If you can hold all, hold them. If you want three Rolex: GMT, SUB, EX2. If you want two Rolex: GMT, EX2. 🙂 IMHO
It seems you have the standard strap on the Mission to Moon. Your wrist seems quite big like mine so when you bought it you could have asked for the XL strap which fit better ... check with the shop if you can still swap the strap!
I have exactly Rolex collections like yours. I think if I have to sell, I would sell Explorer ii. Explorer 40mm is so comfortable and Submariner is so iconic.
only watches worth selling or trading in are rolexes mayb pocket watch but i’d prob keeep those only gonna get rarer and more valuable and less attainable as time goes on. but i feel you im at the same spot in my watch journey i have about 10 watches with 8 being in th $1500 -2500 range and 2 just over 5 k and i wish i had used that $ for 3 -4 watches higher value watches that meet my current taste
Oh Yeah, had a Tudor Black Bay Pro for a bit. Thinking now, if I sell my Rolex Submariner I could keep a diver in my collection by adding a Pelagos with the profits from the Sub. Cheers
Oh, that is an interesting idea! Sell the Rolex Submariner Date and replace it with Tudor Black Bay “Monochrome” Diver and add the Rolex GMT Master II. A great idea to keep a diving watch in my collection. Thank you for thoughtful insight. Cheers
Great video and fun with the SOC. First off, the real faux pas would be to tell someone how to dress. OK, I get it if it was a black tie event maybe I (me, not you 😉) would have gone for something less obtrusive. But I have also worn my 16570 on a green Nato together with suits and been perfectly comfortable with it. 😀 As others have said, keep the Explorer II and keep what you use (or want to keep for sentimental reasons). Do not keep what you do not use. In regards of the complications; you have the GMT function on the Explorer II and can if you want to change to a black dial. Do you need the Bruce Wayne? You do not use the sub as much as you could? Do you ”need” a diver? If it was me; I’d let go of the sub snd start saving towards that Overseas that you have considered. But again, wear what feels comfortable and puts a smile in your face. 😀
So interesting, you are the 3rd person to mention the VC Overseas. I'll have an Overseas in my watch collection one day, but maybe not for a few years. I do go scuba diving, but I'm only going down about 20 meters, so I guess "by the numbers" any of these watches would work for that. I'm going with the Bruce Wayne for the main reason that it shares the amazing robust movement of the Rolex Explorer II and combines the rotating bezel and triple lock system of the Submariner with the elegance and class of the Rolex Explorer 40. I'll be on the road for months at a time for this upcoming project, so I pretty much need that one watch that I can hike, swim, beat up and wear to very formal events, all in the same day. I think the Rolex GMT Master II is the perfect fit for that. What do you think? Cheers
You could absolutely swap both the explorer I AND the sub for the Bruce Wayne. You love the explorer II and for that reason, I wouldn't sell it. It is a completely different watch than the BW. I also think you should let go of the Moonswatch. You'll feel better at that size collection. Great video!!
I Agree with you G-shock is not that tough. I have a lot of "Fashion Watch" Gucci, Puma. The only one that is dead in my closet is G-shock. Took it to the watch repair shop, They said it need a whole new movement. I'm not throwing it away cause if was a give from mom but i'm not paying the price of a new watch to fix the watch either.
I would get rid of the Breitling (if you still have it) The two Victorinox if no personal value is involved and if I must sell a Rolex from the shown I think it is a no brainier - the Explorer I will go. Selling the Explore II will be a mistake, selling the Submariner Date will be even bigger mistake. I will also advise removing the MoonSwatch and buying a 3861 Sapphire Sandwich Speedy. Best current Omega worth owning over any other of their models right now.
Keep the polar explorer. It’s special. I have one. Keep the submariner. And then you have the Bruce Wayne. You’ll have two GMT’s (one for everyday wear while you are traveling-Explorer). The Bruce Wayne get on jubilee. And the sub for whenever you are in deep water. Also, a perfect watch because it can take a beating without scratches on the bezel.
I've tried a few micro brands and will have a few in my collection in the future, At this moment tho I'm looking to have proven robust tough watches. I think the thought process, Cheers
Hi Cheyne, interesting choice am not sure you will use the Bruce Wayne in the same way as the Explorer 2, so the choice would come down to the Sub and the Explorer would depend if you want to let go of something close in value to the Bruce Wayne if so would be the Sub But the Sub has always retained its value so my choice would be the Explorer
Yeah its such tough a decision. I'm going with the Bruce Wayne for the main reason that it share the amazing robust movement of the Rolex Explorer II and combines the rotating bezel and triple lock system of the Submariner with the elegance and class of the Rolex Explorer 40. I'll be on the road for months at a time for this upcoming project, so I pretty much need that one watch that I can hike, swim, beat up and wear to very formal events, all in the same day. I think the Rolex GMT Master II is the perfect fit for that. What do you think? Thank you for your thoughtful input, Cheers
Love the Bruce Wayne but it ain’t a dress watch. If you really need to cut your collection hard, then the BW replaces the Sub and Explorer 2. A BW and Explorer 1 is a pretty neat mini Rolex collection. And a few dollars in the bank!
Why is there so much snobbery from certain individuals, nobody is ever going to tell me what watch I can or can’t wear to an event or occasion, the watch I wear on any given day reflects how I feel on that day, and I couldn’t give jack sh*t what anyone else thinks . You do you man .. explorer with a sports jacket just shows you rock. Screw that nobheads ill placed opinion!!!
For me an easy choice having both the 41 Submariner and 40 explorer I would sell the explorer 2 and the submariner, keep the Explorer 1 and the new GMT master 2. The new GMT takes the place of the Explorer 2 so that one becomes redundant. If you can keep the Sub I would do that and just sell the Explorer 2. If you need to raise more funds for the GMT then also sell the Sub. I find myself wearing my Explorer 1 and Omega all ceramic black black way more than my Submariner. Just to clarify about the Rolex seals I owned for nearly 40 years a rolex air king which I wore daily in the deserts of Southern California and in the shower, hot tub, swimming almost every day. When I finally got it serviced because it was starting to run slow after 30 years the watchmaker said the seals were in very nice shape so you can wear your Submariner or any rolex in any conditions without fear of the seals deteriorating. I finally gave that watch to my daughter. Love your videos!
Great vid. I’m currently waiting for the Bruce Wayne. Also currently have the E2 and E1. I’ve been living with 3 watches for a long time. Plus my GS Sbgn003 But if the gmt master arrives. One has to go! For you, i think the Submariner can go. Keep E1 & E 2 and gmt master with Jubilee. I need the date. But the E1 is special. For me, I don’t know. But I want to wear my watches. Max 2 might be the end goal. Two mechanical plus a garmin. Or 1 mechanical, 1 quartz plus a garmin.
First thought - keep the Explorer 40mm for its versatility and ability to fly under the radar whilst still being such an enjoyable watch. Sell the explorer 2 and the sub and replace with the Bruce Wayne! Second thought - I notice you seem to find yourself at formal events and almost trying to make one of the rolex' fit the occasion, why not try a 'dress watch' alongside the Bruce wayne/the explorer 40?
Yeah, I'm always doing art, gallery & fund raising events and have always thought of getting a dress, but a lot of these events I have to travel for. Haven't warmed up to wearing a dress watch for several days at a time and don't want to bring two "high-end" watch and leave one in a hotel room. Thank you for the thoughtful input. Cheers
If you've decided for the bruce wayne, a serious suggestion would be whether you wish to keep buying from your AD or not. If you flip within a year of purchase you've likely to not get any allocations down the. If that's fine, then you already answered yourself that you should sell the sub. exp 2 too if you really need to reduce your watch collection, but I am quite sure you would miss the exp2 more than the sub. Happy hunting!
Very good point, I definitely want to purchase at the AD for the lower cost and to know it's 100% new and authentic. The Goal is to keep all the watches, just hope art sales pickup so becomes possible. Thanks for the thoughtful input. Cheers
Just keep your Rolex watches, you have a solid 3 piece Rolex collection. Your watches suit your lifestyle and profession. Less is more and your collection represents everything a man needs. If you want to expand to a complete purpose use Rolex collection. All you need is a Daytona, a Day Date or Date Just. You will have a chrono, a diver, a field watch, a GMT, and a dress piece. If you want to expand your collection outside of Rolex. Look into a Speedmaster, Navitimer, IWC chrono, Zenith for your chrono, and/or a dress watch from the following: JLC Master Ultra Thin, Reverso, IWC Portuguese, A Lange 1815, Patek Philippe Calatrava, VC Patrimony.
All very sound advice. Maybe in the future I would love to add Daytona, a Day Date or Date Just to collection and a have a "full" Rolex watch collection. For now though I need to whittle the collection down to two watches, since I'll be living on the road for awhile. Hopefully art sales pickup and I can put the other watches into storage instead of selling, We'll have to see what the future holds. Cheers
Difficult choice. If it helps I was in a similar predicament although never had all 3 at the same time. Cutting to the chase, sub must stay in my opinion. Then it’s a toss up between the two explorers.
Great channel man. Now onto the meat and potatoes. I own all of the watches you are discussing and have (plus a few more). My most recent add was the GMT-2 BLNR with jubilee bracelet. I gotta tell you man if you are going to do any of the GMTs (bezel colors are all cool) you have to do it on jubilee. The polished center link of the oyster is a scratch magnet! Jubilee is soooooooo comfortable too! Killer. Even with the jubilee the Submariner and GMT feel very, very, very similar. I think the Sub will be duplicative if you add the BW - especially on oyster. My advice is option D. Pick of of these Rolex tool watches (Exp 1 or 2) and add a Datejust with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet in whatever dial color you like. One sport watch to beat up and wear for heavy use. One dress watch that you wear casually. They can both come on the adventure and each one has an assignment. Its like camera lenses man - one lens can't do everything you have to pick the right tool for the job!
Love that camera lens analogy, perfect. Do you think the jubilee will be tough enough if I use the GMT Master as a field watch? Thank you for your insight, Cheers
@@cheynewallsI would not wear it as a tool watch. It’s just too pretty BUT I actually think the jubilee may be better in the field bc it won’t show scratches like the polished oyster will. Rock the Explorer 2 in the field and then have the GMT on jubilee for casual and dress duty. Be a sick combo!
As a psychologist I could tell you a lot of things about someone who approaches you on a social interaction just to try to make you feel unconfortable... And none of those things that I could tell you about him are nice... 😂
@@cheynewalls I’m not a psychologist, but I have my own take on the situation. Stuff whatever anyone else thinks, it’s your watch and your style. Watch etiquette is long gone anyway. Whoever made the silly comment clearly has problems of his own.
Don't worry about some snob at a formal event trying to shame you about your Explorer II. Shouldn't even want to be around people like that. Wear what you like.
Yeah you are right, I'm just at that awkward position that I really don't belong at some of these very formal events and I don't want to look out of place as a lot of the attendees could be future clients. Does that make scene? Cheers
Sell the sub. Keep the explorers, the Bruce Wayne is basically a sub with a 24 hr bezel. Plus you’ll like the slightly smaller size. Keep up the content Cheyne
Prob is if you have to sell for financial reasons then you’d have to sell a Rolex ‘cos the others are hardly worth anything. Honestly, I’d keep all 3 & forget the GMT M2 Bruce Wayne. The Sub & Exp2 are better. Now if you were talking the Pepsi then that might be worth thinking about…
The Goal is to keep all the watches, just hope art sales pickup so becomes possible. The Pepsi has crossed my mind. Thanks for the thoughtful input. Cheers
Thanks for your thoughtful input, but a VC overseas cost more than all my watches combined. I will own a VC Overseas one day, but that is a few years down the road. Cheers
Cheyne!!! Here is my recommendations Sell off submariner Keep polar explorer for GMT function and quirky/fun design (orange hand, steel bezel) Keep explorer…pure 3 hander….clean design with 3-6-9 a true GADA. ( although the sub no date is arguably better(glide lock and timing bezel)) Acquire the RLX!!! Lightweight, all brushed, crazzzzy lume and most of all not as ubiquitous as the sub date Pass on the GMT and get the RLX!! Summary, 1)polar, 2)explorer 1, 3)RLX The RLX is dope with timing bezel and lightweight for all those camping trips and excursions you do The issue with GMT is the polished center links….scratch magnet….definitely not toolish, more jewelry…both explorers are toolish and refined. The RLX has a dope bezel as well!!!
I like the thought process. Thanks for the thoughtful input, Yeah the one thing I dislike about the Rolex GMT Master 2 is those polished links, however I have no issues with scratching the hell out of that bracelet. Think it will look awesome after about a year when I have scratched off all that polish. that is a good call with the RLX, Cheers
If a 7.25 inches wrist is "puny" as you put it, so be it, but I love how my 42mm Rolex Explorer II fits, its just after wearing it for 4 or 5 days straight its not as comfortable as the smaller sized Rolex Explorer 40. I can wear the Exp40 for weeks without taking it off.
Hey! I presume you won't sell your Digital watches, and you want to keep your Victorinox and Swatch (btw I love this brand, really want to buy Inox Automatic next year, it's a beast). In my opinion, if you plan to have a Bruce Wayne - Explorer 1 and Submariner need to go. You can travel with the Bruce, you can go to the formal events wearing it, you can even hike with it - but I'd prefer to use Explorer 2 for the last case. Yes, both of them are GMTs, but they are really different.
I've had bad luck with G-shocks, I have a 5600 in my collection now, but every time I took a G-shock out on my snow camping expeditions the batteries of the G-shocks would always go flat, rendering the watch useless. That is the main reason I moved to mechanical tool watches.
@@cheynewalls for cold snow weather you have to get a Casio G6900 or G7900 or GLS5600 and Specialist Rangeman casio wristwatches which also use superior lithium batteries to resist Arctic cold temperatures. Square g-shock 5000 (Japan made) 5600 (China Thailand made) are no use in very cold temepratures
I think honestly you should get rid of the Sub. This watch deserves to be worn and if you feel not comfortable to wear it, it should make an other owner happy!
What kind of horse's a$$ criticises another man's watch choice?? Says a whole lot more about him than you. You have the perfect Rolex watches for your craft and lifestyle. I'd sell all the others and keep the Rollies. They are incredible tools - and they are money in the bank! And, BTW, your fears with the Sub are totally unfounded. I wore one 24/7 for 20 years. Didn't even have it serviced for the first 15 years! I wore it hiking and 4-wheeling in the Mojave desert for days on end...and SCUBA diving a lot! You needn't worry about its durability or toughness. AND...when I got married in Jamaica in 1991, I wore it SCUBA diving during the day, and under the sleeve of my tux the night of the ceremony. 😂👍😎 The GMT Master II is a cool watch. I like the versatility of the Explorer II better for a GMT.
Wow very good to know that about the Rolex Submariner, thanks for the real world knowledge and great story. I have always been told, well a lot of people commenting on my videos with the Rolex Submariner that I shouldn't be wearing it in such hot dry areas and then going SCUBA with it. Well put, Thank you for your thoughtful input, Cheers
The person who said that about your watch has serious issues. At the very least he's the worst type of snob and is talking rubbish. You have a fantastic collection!
IMHO, sell the Submariner, the Explorer ii is more than sufficient for water resistance, a solid workhorse replacement and unless you truly are going deep under water is a good trade off. The GMT Master II essentially is a decent swap for the iconic submariner, and depending on the bracelet, if you go with the jubilee vs oyster bracelet, it can be better worn with a suit.
If you get the Bruce Wyane then get rid of the Sub and the Explorer II but keep the Explorer 40 and please 🙏🏾 get rid of that ridiculous Moon Swatch darling 🦖 in my Hugo Montbatten voice 😂😂😂
Keep the Garmin, Rolex sub, Explorer II and the 2 pocket watches. Get rid of everything else and your collection is complete for the rest of your life!!!
I have the GMTii Batman and a black Explorer ii newest model. I much prefer the Eii. The GMTii is super bling bling with the polished surfaces. For your lifestyle, wouldn’t recommend the GMT while you’re rouging it.
Cheyne, I have an idea for you. Why don’t you get the Bruce Wayne without selling any of your other watches, but keep it unworn until you feel like it is financially responsible to wear. That watch is likely stay above retail value so you can feel sound financially by buying it and then only give it to yourself once you are comfortable. This way you keep optionality and can sell it if finances head south.
Sound advice and an idea I didn't think of. As you know I was thinking of whittle the collection down to two watches, since I'll be living on the road for awhile. Hopefully art sales pickup and I can put the other watches into storage instead of selling, We'll have to see what the future holds. That is an interesting idea to just hold the Bruce Wayne for a few months and then make the decision . Very worse case I break even. Great idea, thank you! Cheers
Any time! Btw it has one other benefit: keeps you in good shape with the AD. If you had to turn down the Bruce Wayne, good luck getting future allocations!
It definitely could depending on the person. I have the BLNR with polished center links and all the scratches really blend well together over time. Up close you will notice them but at a glance or distance you can't really tell. Honestly, the smudges and fingerprints bother me more. Lol.
I'm very much looking to scratch up those polished center links, that is the one thing I don't like about the Rolex GMT Master II. Hopefully scratch all that polish off them. Cheers
Congrats on the Rolex GMT II BW (BruceWayne) this is coming soon. Personally would sell all your current watches except 1 wristwatch you like the most and except 1 pocket watch you like the most, and also purchase a Casio G6900 or Casio G7900 or Casio GLS5600 or Casio Specialist Rangeman wristwatch that can be used & worn in really cold snow arctic temperatures and also hot temperature environments (all those Casios have a top quality lithium battery and makes for extreme cold temperatures)
Thanks for your insight. Were did you hear that about quality lithium battery for Casio? I had the G-shock Rangeman & Mudmaster, they both had that same exact battery that is in my TV remote control. As well as my Rangeman was one of those G-shock watches that has failed on me while out snow camping. Is there some kind of upgraded battery I could get?
@@cheynewalls you would have to research or speak to a Casio specialist or leave a comment on an expert Casio utuber - it seems the LCD screen/mechanism has to be low temp handleable and the battery must be better as you said. In small text on the Casio watch it should say Low Temp LCD or something like that
I did have someone (after watch this video) offer me handy amount for my Rolex Submariner Date, that would cover the cost of GMT Master and then some. I'll have to keep that all in-mind.
Hmmm if the submariner is your least worn, then sell it and replace with the bruce wayne. Explorer 1 and 2 should stay because that's an amazing combo, and you're wearing them a lot. Not sure how much value you'd get by selling any of the other pieces, but I'd let go of the hamilton pocket watch (keep the vintage one) and the moonswatch. If you want to be under the radar as a weekend watch you have the explorer 1 for that :)
All very good points and insight. I did have someone (after watch this video) offer me handy amount for my Rolex Submariner Date, that would cover the cost of GMT Master and then some. I'll have to keep that all in-mind. Thanks for your thoughtful input, Cheers
Man, the Submariner is tougher than your Explorer II. Wear that thing to the desert. It is great at black tie events. Better than the white dial. I would get rid of the Explorer II. You have the 40. Keep the Sub. Get the Batman. I have had my sub for about to be 20 years. Worn it everywhere and black tie events in D.C. don’t wear that white dial though. Lastly, I was far from being alone wearing the sub at an event. Funny thing is before the event I wore it working out and swam with it. You have a great collection but I would either keep all the Rolexes or get rid of the white dial.
Please don’t reassess your whole collection because of some guy with an obnoxious opinion. Just wear your Explorer 1 to more formal events if you’re concerned about losing business
Your right, I'm now playing with the idea of keeping all my watches, adding the Rolex GMT Master and a dress watch. Lets hope art sales pick up so this can be possible. Cheers
My fault, that is my actual desk when we aren't filming, must have forgotten to turn down the screen after going through images from our latest travels.
eah you are right, I'm just at that awkward position that I really don't belong at some of these very formal events and I don't want to look out of place as a lot of the attendees could be future clients. Does that make scene? Cheers
@@cheynewallshonestly I don't know. I don't own any Rolex's yet. lol I was just thinking on a diverse stand point since you already have three with oyster bracelets. But it makes sense because you really do outdoor activities with them. My second option would be to get rid of the Explorer 2 to exchange it for a true GMT watch that has the rotating bezel. BUT that polar dial is soo good. 🤌🏼. Good luck on your decision.
Thanks for the thoughtful input, Yeah going to be a tough decision, hopefully art sales pick up, so can just keep them all while adding the Rolex GMT Master II. Cheers
You should have laughed in the face of the guy who said you shouldn't wear a $10k+ Rolex to a formal event. So ridiculous. 99.5% of people do not care if you wear an apple watch to a formal event.

@@colD4091 I guess your right a subtle touch of color can still fly under the radar. My mind did first go to a green Sea-Q by Glashutte, haha. Cheers
Thank you for your thoughtful input, all very good points. Cheers

Exp 2 is the best watch on that table by far imo.
@@johnpeters4268 I can go with that, I don't I could ever part with it. Cheers
If it were me, I’d go with:
G Shock square
Rolex Explorer II polar
Victorinox
Then add a dress watch for formal events
Alternatively, the G Shock, Explorer I, and Victorinox would make a solid 3 piece combo since the Explorer can pull double duty as a casual and dress piece
Interesting, very good points, Thanks

Solid tool watch collection. What's your thought about the turn-o-graph. It's original and alot of history behind this forgotten piece.

What do you call multiple rolex watches?
I like to call them rolii as in radii and radius

Thank you for your insight and input. That would be a good little one two punch in the way of a watch collection. Cheers
I have all four of these pieces and agree with you assessment. BLNR on jubilee is so crazy comfortable and a STUNNER!
Do you think the jubilee is tough enough if I wear it as my field watch?
I started with Swiss Army watches myself. I personally would simply give them away to potential watch lovers. Put some good energy out there.
That's a great idea! Thanks

Only if the Rolex Explorer II had a rotating bezel, it would be the perfect watch. Thanks for your input. Cheers

Honestly if anything, you can lose the watches with no additional functionality compared to say the explorer…
In terms of function, the idea of the submariner just seems to work as it has the timer function which is think is much more of a valuable thing to have compared to a GMT watch… (I own an explorer II and a tudor GMT).

As others have said, keep the Explorer II and keep what you use (or want to keep for sentimental reasons).
My beloved Moonswatch ;). Very go point. Thank you for your thoughtful input, Cheers
G-shocks have their place and a good watches for their price point, but I have had more G-shocks fail on me than Rolex watches in the same conditions.
I would get rid of the Breitling (if you still have it)
The two Victorinox if no personal value is involved
and if I must sell a Rolex from the shown I think it is a no brainier - the Explorer I will go.
Selling the Explore II will be a mistake, selling the Submariner Date will be even bigger mistake.
I will also advise removing the MoonSwatch and buying a 3861 Sapphire Sandwich Speedy. Best current Omega worth owning over any other of their models right now.
I broke my Breitling years ago and sold it after it was repaired. Thanks for the thoughtful insight, Cheers
Thanks for your thoughtful input, Cheers. Do you think the jubilee will be tough enough?
Sounds like you should get a micro brand watch for water events and wear your sub
I've tried a few micro brands and will have a few in my collection in the future, At this moment tho I'm looking to have proven robust tough watches. I think the thought process, Cheers
Hi Cheyne, interesting choice am not sure you will use the Bruce Wayne in the same way as the Explorer 2, so the choice would come down to the Sub and the Explorer would depend if you want to let go of something close in value to the Bruce Wayne if so would be the Sub
But the Sub has always retained its value so my choice would be the Explorer

Just to clarify about the Rolex seals I owned for nearly 40 years a rolex air king which I wore daily in the deserts of Southern California and in the shower, hot tub, swimming almost every day. When I finally got it serviced because it was starting to run slow after 30 years the watchmaker said the seals were in very nice shape so you can wear your Submariner or any rolex in any conditions without fear of the seals deteriorating.
Thank you for your thoughtful input, Cheers
bought the explorer..GMT +explorer, the ultimate 1-2 punch. the sub is too similar to the gmt so ill bypass that one
Thanks for your input, Cheers
I love the Rolex Explorer, I’m so happy with mine. I think you are going to like the Tudor Pelagos 39
The Rolex Explorer is a great watch. I'll take a deeper look at the Tudor Pelagos 39. Cheers
@@BLR653 Indeed, Thank you
Out of these three Rolex, the Exp2 would without a doubt be the one I’d let go.
Interesting, Thanks for your input, Cheers
Explorer 2 for adventure and travel; explorer for daily; gmt for special events so nobody ever bother you :)
Well said, Cheers
As a psychologist I could tell you a lot of things about someone who approaches you on a social interaction just to try to make you feel unconfortable... And none of those things that I could tell you about him are nice... 😂
LOL, Well put

Thank you for your thoughtful input, Cheers
Prob is if you have to sell for financial reasons then you’d have to sell a Rolex ‘cos the others are hardly worth anything. Honestly, I’d keep all 3 & forget the GMT M2 Bruce Wayne. The Sub & Exp2 are better. Now if you were talking the Pepsi then that might be worth thinking about…
The Goal is to keep all the watches, just hope art sales pickup so becomes possible. The Pepsi has crossed my mind. Thanks for the thoughtful input. Cheers
Keep what you love. Get rid of anything that keeps you back.
Simple and to the point, I like it. Cheers
I just got rid of my sub for a VC overseas. I also have the Explorer and Explorer 2 so the sub was unnecessary.
Thanks for your thoughtful input, but a VC overseas cost more than all my watches combined. I will own a VC Overseas one day, but that is a few years down the road. Cheers
Great collection but I wouldn’t add another Rolex, needs diversity.
Thank you for your input, Cheers
Cheyne!!! Here is my recommendations
Sell off submariner
Keep polar explorer for GMT function and quirky/fun design (orange hand, steel bezel)
Keep explorer…pure 3 hander….clean design with 3-6-9 a true GADA. ( although the sub no date is arguably better(glide lock and timing bezel))
Acquire the RLX!!! Lightweight, all brushed, crazzzzy lume and most of all not as ubiquitous as the sub date
Pass on the GMT and get the RLX!!
Summary,
1)polar, 2)explorer 1, 3)RLX
The RLX is dope with timing bezel and lightweight for all those camping trips and excursions you do
The issue with GMT is the polished center links….scratch magnet….definitely not toolish, more jewelry…both explorers are toolish and refined. The RLX has a dope bezel as well!!!
Since I have puny wrists my 3 watch collection would be similar
1) sub no date
2) explorer 36
3) Tudor Pelagos 39
@@cheynewalls I was referring to my puny wrists at 6.5” …your wrists are perfect for the 42mm sizes
@@robbasilio7235 Oh, Got you. My fault, thank you again for your input. Cheers
Love the Inox Automatic. Good points, thanks for your thoughtful insight. Two GMTs, but so different, your right. Cheers
Explorer 1, Explorer 2, Bruce Wayne. Done.
Thanks for your input, That is a good little collection. Cheers
Keep the gshock and get rid of all the other. Then get a more premium gshock, developed for outdoor adventures.
Well put, Thank you for your thoughtful input, Cheers
Explorer II should go, once you got the GMT Master the explorer 2 won’t get a look in
Thanks for your input, Cheers
The GMT Master II is a cool watch.
I have the Rolex GMT Master all black and the Explorer 39. They do the trick.
Thank you for your input and sharing that, perfect two watch collection, Cheers
The person who said that about your watch has serious issues. At the very least he's the worst type of snob and is talking rubbish. You have a fantastic collection!
Thank you for that! Yeah there was not reason for that interaction. Cheers
Thank you for thoughtful insight, Cheers
If you get the Bruce Wyane then get rid of the Sub and the Explorer II but keep the Explorer 40 and please 🙏🏾 get rid of that ridiculous Moon Swatch darling 🦖 in my Hugo Montbatten voice 😂😂😂
lol, Thanks for your input, Cheers
Keep the Garmin, Rolex sub, Explorer II and the 2 pocket watches. Get rid of everything else and your collection is complete for the rest of your life!!!
Sound advice, Thanks for your input, Cheers
If getting the Bruce Wayne, and if any of the Rolexes should go, it could be the Rolex Explorer II
Well put, Thank you for your input, Cheers
I’m very bothered by your EXP2, please sell it immediately…to me.
haha, love it. Thanks for your input, Cheers
Selling anything now could cost you a few grand. At least that’s true of my black explorer 2
Interesting, good point. Thanks for the insight
I have the GMTii Batman and a black Explorer ii newest model. I much prefer the Eii. The GMTii is super bling bling with the polished surfaces. For your lifestyle, wouldn’t recommend the GMT while you’re rouging it.
Thanks for your insight.
@@DuncanMacDonald-Korth Yeah, another good point. You are right, a win win and win
Bruce Wayne for everyday will scratch up on those polished centre links. Doesn’t take a lot and will bug the hell out of you eventually?
It definitely could depending on the person. I have the BLNR with polished center links and all the scratches really blend well together over time. Up close you will notice them but at a glance or distance you can't really tell. Honestly, the smudges and fingerprints bother me more. Lol.
I'm very much looking to scratch up those polished center links, that is the one thing I don't like about the Rolex GMT Master II. Hopefully scratch all that polish off them. Cheers
All timepieces has to go but g shock. Believe me doesn't worth to keep them :)
Thanks for the input
In small text on the Casio watch it should say Low Temp LCD or something like that
Get rid of the Sub and get the Bruise Wayne! 👌🏽
I did have someone (after watch this video) offer me handy amount for my Rolex Submariner Date, that would cover the cost of GMT Master and then some. I'll have to keep that all in-mind.
@@cheynewalls That’s good to hear, good luck!
2:05 Give that man an Oscar!
I'll take it, but for what?
Good to hear about the Rolex Submariner at a black tie event in DC. Thank you for your thoughtful input. Cheers

You are welcome.
As far as selling, if it were me, I’d sell the Garmin, Rolex Submariner, moonswatch, and one of the Hamiltons

Because you ask : I would sell the Submariner, buy a Speedmaster from your birth year, and throw away the moonswatch !
Very good, an option I haven't considered, Thanks for your input, Cheers
Please don’t reassess your whole collection because of some guy with an obnoxious opinion. Just wear your Explorer 1 to more formal events if you’re concerned about losing business

@@cheynewallshonestly I don't know. I don't own any Rolex's yet. lol I was just thinking on a diverse stand point since you already have three with oyster bracelets. But it makes sense because you really do outdoor activities with them.
