This actually aged so well having seen the lacklustre Hazard cinematic that gave us NOTHING in terms of story or quality.

Never got into OW back in 2016 but now that I know the story and the background of characters and too of that the PVE being cancelled duuuuuuude I feel so bad for all the OW fans out here like dang you guys got let down so bad

The Absence of the story mode absolutely killed overwatch for me. The whole purpose of all the cinematics was to set up the story mode that we were supposed to be getting. But since they cancelled it you can see that no one gives a shit at blizzard anymore. The whole point of Overwatch 2 was the story mode, the fact that we even have a „sequel“ at this point is ridiculous, the whole game is just a big failure at this point just trying to get every single cent out of our pocket for skins and collabs

I think one of the biggest theories past anti-wokeness is that concord was meant to be a heavily styalised game as its very inspired by classic scifi and a lot of the concept work was heavily styalised. And then possibly due to the company fearing an actually interesting looking game may not sell well, they went for realism which did not mesh with the whole original design language of the game. Its like essentially doing the trope of "cartoon character ugly in real life" Yknow realism, the exact same critique that has been used on much of the game industry in putting out samey, somewhat uninteresting products.

I'll be honest, even though I thought OW's overall story and characters were a little generic at times, I still watched and enjoyed every cinematic they made (Reinhart's was the best one easily). They haven't even tried in the last few years. It's not just that the new characters are bland, but their cinematics are painfully average at best, save for Sojourn's. Also they never made a cinematic for my boy Lucio. RIP.

9:00 No I really didn't "lose my shit" with this cinematic, because it SHOULD have been something that happened in 2016-17. Blizzard takes their sweet time with in-game lore, because it works well enough for Warcraft's expansions. When you have a GI Joe-esque/Super Friends FPS in your hands, with the map design being so similarly weak (path-choke path) and "chaotic fun" suffering hard, you really Should have a anual or bi-annual lore continuation, not just dump a new character on your players laps and say "Here's MARZOOBIO, he's a Koala Kommando, and shoots acid snot after chewing Eucalyptus, he fights to protect Australia's plains from Junker Queen" .

I literally love the lore of this game so much, and that’s what really hurt me about PvE being cancelled. I loved the feeling of playing missions that felt like they had weight to them lore-wise. Also the cinematic literally got me into the game. I watched “Honor & Glory” and have had the Balderich skin locked on rein ever since. I still play the game, but it seems each season we drift farther away from the cool realities of the overwatch world and more into monetization hell

Overwatch (2) is just a widespread case study on Stockholm syndrome. Once they cancelled the PvE, I quit the game, it lost its reason for existence. The only reason people play it is for nostalgia

I remember the time when I first started watching these back when the Zero Hour one dropped and they were so good that not only did they get me back in the game, but I actually got interested in the lore for a while. But since Ow2, I only just started playing again not cause of the cinematics some I didn't even know came out, but just by pure coincidence.

The only thing that's keeping me playing Overwatch, the one thing that made me come back after months of leaving it, was Venture, and Venture didn't even get a cinematic, and the only animation they did get was 40 seconds long, they don't even get any skins, I could leave Overwatch and lose absolutely nothing because Venture's fanbase cares more than Blizzard and I can get approximately 2000% more content of them through that than I can through Overwatch, I'm so sick of it, and now they've decided that the best choice for a gamemode is just "Hey guys remember Overwatch 1???"
