Once they were here, they had a constant stream of visitors so really didn't need to make much effort to see people. People came to them. @@AllAboutABQ Well, we're from Dallas and had been visiting New Mexico since the mid 60's so were quite familiar with the state, particularly Northern NM. I expecially like the ability to see out of the city from almost anywhere - North to the Sangre de Christo range north of Santa Fe, West to Mt Taylor about 100 miles away, also, and, of course Sandia to the East. I don't feel boxed in like in other big cities I've lived in that seem to go on for miles and miles, endlessly. I also like the micro climates around ABQ. Rio Rancho is high desert but over toward the foothills it's very green and lush - almost like Dallas. Then there is the North and South Valley, and the upper east side escarpment - all different climates and environments. This, too, is unique and unlike any other city I know. For things to do, the museums are top notch as is the biopark. Many of the recreational facilities are free or very reasonably priced, and you can get day passes to the museums from the library - all you need is a library card. New Mexico is one of America's best kept secrets.
